I tried Lucy Nails for the first time yesterday for a pedi. I told the gal to go as short as possible. I sat back and relaxed, and when I looked at my two big toes I was shocked. She cut so far down that all 4 corners have cuts in them, and now I have 1/3 underlying skin exposed. Like really? Common sense didn't dictate that short doesn't mean to hack your nail down to skin?! Horrible experience having acrylic nails removed. Scrapped off and left my nails beneath incredibly damaged they will take months to grow out. When I asked if there could be a soaking solution to ease removal the response was that it was faster to use nail plyers (no joke) to pull away. The priority was getting to the client waiting rather than safely attend to me. Appalled and will never be back. read more

This place is just around the corner from where we live, and I've walked by it a million times but never been in. Finally decided to give it a try based on Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did! I called for a same-day appointment, and was told to come in an hour. I arrived, picked my polish and was in the chair in about 5 minutes. The esthetician put on a fresh pair of gloves and opened a fresh package of tools for my pedicure - not always the case when you go to a "cheap" neighbourhood nail bar. I decided to go with the long-lasting nail polish. You pay a $3 premium for this, so I'm hoping it lasts! I also get my eyebrows cleaned up, and waited about 2 minutes after my pedi for Lucy to be free. Overall, the service was great. Location is clean. And prices are unbeatable. I'll be back! read more

This used to be my go to for my Shellac mani pedi and in the beginning it was perfect and great service. So much so that their cash-only (and no cash point on site) policy didn't deter me. Do not get your acrylics removed here. Proper removal methods are not employed in the slightest, and staff are harsh and unapologetic. Without having my nails soaked or treated with any form of solution, they were slowly dredged and ripped off by an employee with another, unused acrylic nail extension piece, nonetheless. My nails will be damaged for months. I have since had many friends who were customers at Lucy Nails relate to my terrible experience with acrylic nail removal here... severe damage and pain to nails is a guarantee. read more

Prior to a beach vacation last year I wanted to get my hooves handled and made an appointment here on the recommendation of my SO. This is her local nail spot and not being picky with where I get my semi annual pedi, I went. Location is small-ish, but then again no space is wasted. The place is busy even during off peak hours - must be a lot of people working from home these days, who else has time mid day for a mani-pedicure? Given that this was for a vacation I went the whole 9 yards for my feed, pedicure, paraffin wax, little clear cote for the toesies. It was heavenly. Don't judge me... don't you dare ;) Overall a good experience, my one critique is they're a little bit busier at times then they could handle. There were a few occasions when I was left on my own waiting for the attendant to come back (water went cold, etc etc). But not enough of a negative to warrant a poor review. I have to say I'm shocked at these reviews as this place is weaksauce, in my opinion. The lady who did my pedicure was outwardly friendly and I liked her well enough. But her work was rushed, inattentive, shoddy, just poor quality. Four of us went for the appointment and we were in and out of our seats, all of us, within 25 minutes. None of us felt that we'd had a pedicure that was up to standard. I've only ever had one other pedicure (I'm a man) and even I knew this was sub-par. My nails were not filed in any way. She touched the nail file to a couple toe nails but literally didn't even TOUCH it to most of my nails. I didn't understand how she chose which nails to knight with the touch of the file (she didn't file them, just touch them - it was real strange to me), but she obviously worked according to some hidden design. I asked her after if she was going to file and she didn't bat an eyelash before she said "I already did EVERYTHING for you! Come on!!" as though I were teasing her! The fact that she wasn't horrified that I was so unsatisfied as to question her work, and that she did nothing to try to address my concerns tells me all I need to know about this establishment and their standards. I was relieved and horrified to see that she also treated her next customers exactly the same and also didn't file their nails, and that the same applied to all four of our party - so at least it wasn't personal. I got a FAR superior pedicure from a student at Trade Secrets who admitted she was very inexperienced at pedicures. She did a FAR superior job. That's telling. Nice people though. Went here for the first time after reading reviews on yelp. Made an appointment - they are very busy. Lucy was able to accept walk-ins if you walked in during a brief lull. Decent selection of colors from Opi or China glaze. From the outside it doesn't look that appealing (no frills nail place) but the service, quality of pedicure (good scrub!) and only $18 for a pedicure!!! Got in and out under 1 hour. I have gone to Lucy's Nails on two separate occasions and the first time I went it was just good enough, so I assumed that maybe this was a one off, but then I went in on Saturday and received the worst service from a nails and pedi establishment. I booked my appointment towards the end of their day, but still an hour before close, so this would have given them more than enough time to do an appropriate job. Firstly the staff person working on my toes barely acknowledged my presence and seemed extremely tired, so tired that I had to constantly request the basic things (can you add whatever softener solution to the water, can you show me all of the colours I requested, please re- do this and so on). I have never been to a pedi place where the entire job moved so quickly (I'm talking less than 15 mins and I could quickly tell that my nails were going to be less than impressive. I slowly looked around at the other ladies present there and noticed their toes were also substandard and poorly manicured. After the quick job, I was then taken to the drying station where no one came to check up on me, with the exception of a very unpleasant worker who promptly told me and my friends "that we were done and could leave". This is no way to treat a customer especially not with all of the competition out there... Lucy, the owner is actually a very nice and pleasant lady however her staff or rather the two (the one who did my toes and the other who did my friends toes) absolutely suck- poor customer service through and through . I don't get a spa treatment, though a minimal massage is still granted; they take off my old nail polish, shape my nails, trim my cuticles and then paint another layer, what else do I need from a manicure? I had the least chatty lady in the place, but all the others were friendly. They work hard and efficiently. Was out of there in 1 hour, incl time at the drying table. I messed up 1 nail (newbie) and she fixed for me no prob. All looks great! It's no frills (no air con either) but they seemed to take care to clean their tools and the steaming hot towels are awesome and spotless. Yen is amazing and always does a great job and I will only allow her from here on out to touch my nails. I broke a nail and went in today and Yen was busy so Lucy said she would fix it. She didn't even match the nail to the other hand in terms of filing when I stressed it prior and I had to tell her after as I trusted she understood since she acknowledged my request. I have to be on top of my nail tech like who wants that? Aren't I paying for a service you are a supposed to be a professional at? Apparently, she was saying how I can't expect that when she is a different person filing? Ive been to many nail salons and they have no problem matching nails to the other hand even during a similar situation. Also, I was certain the colour wasn't the same although its somewhat a close match but when I brought it to her attention to get the colour sample I was immediately shut down and assured it was the same colour. It definitely needed an extra coat then but As I recall not being able to see the colour in the polish bottle as the nail polish used was in a solid black bottle the day prior.. I had 2 coats yesterday when Wren did it and it looked flawless. Yet, it took 3 coats today, still not the same colour, much lighter and sparkly than the colour of all my other nails which was more chrome like. I know their busy but now I'm hesitant to return because next time I will want to snap if this happens again and I get the same dismissive response. I explained that I will and should expect it to be the same if thats what I am paying for. She filed it slimmer but it still looks like crap as it takes the colour off the sides and it still didn't match as you will see. Why am I able to spot these things when I'm fully attentive and not a nail tech yet she is professional nail tech apparently and can not. She had no problem taking my money for a shitty job. I didn't want to get to upset as its the holidays but I should have not have been accepting of how dismissive she was to me. She should have taken responsibility for doing a poor job and fixed it correctly rather than acting like how dare I make a fuss? She didn't even file the nail bed down flat like the others, I was too trusting. I pay for a job well done not a quick fix to have a finger standing out like a sore thumb. Its annoying! Nice place! Best pedi/mani for the price in the Junction. The girls and Lucy have an awesome sense of humour and are generally quite nice. The massage chairs are sweet and the nail polish selection is solid. My only beef is the ventilation could be better. I can only speak to waxing, but always fast and efficient. I usually don't even make an appointment I just walk in on a weekday (the longest they've said is come back in 30 mins) or call on a weekend and they tell me when to come in that day and ask if it works for me. Sometimes 30 mins from my call or later in the afternoon, but I've never been told no. Personally I don't like chit-chatting when I'm getting hair ripped out of my face and they're great at reading their customer type, I do see them talking up a storm with other customers, but they know that's not how I am so they just do the job and get it done. Always friendly and polite! Comfortable, neighborhood vibe, not snobby. Good place! read more

Staff were nice enough, but the woman doing my nails and toes was pretty distracted. I got a shellac mani and pedi. She wasn't consistent in what she did on either side. She also cut my cuticle on my finger and one big toe. The sides on my nails weren't fully coloured and within 3 days you could see white at the top, which to me was a sign that she didn't go high enough with the colour. Also- when filing my nails it was a bit painful- she leaned the filer at an angle into the nail bed versus away. I wouldn't go back although I wish it had been a more pleasant experience! read more

I've been going to Lucy Nails sporadically for several years. Unfortunately, I have just had a very uncomfortable and quite a rude customer experience there recently and will not be returning. I called ahead and booked an appointment for two pedicures at 6pm - one for me and one for my mother, who is a senior. When we arrived, they said that they would not be able to do a pedicure for my mom, due to her bunions and hammertoe. Fair enough - I was fully expecting that could be the case so I understood and politely accepted this. My mom decided to get a manicure instead, which they said was fine. After realizing she couldn't get a pedicure, she sat and waited patiently for 10 minutes without anyone attending to her. Feeling bad about not being able to get her pedicure and waiting for 10 minutes and being completely ignored, she changed her mind and came over to where I was waiting to keep me company. After 25 minutes of me waiting, also patiently seating at the tub without my shoes on and with a nail colour picked, there was still no one beginning to show signs of starting my pedicure. A member of staff finished their shift and left the salon, and the owner was walking around putting top coat and saran wrap on others, helping them with their coats, and not acknowledging our presence. I felt that after refusing to do a pedicure on my mother - which was fine - it would have been courteous of them to proceed promptly with my pedicure. Instead, they basically ignored me and my mom - it felt like they were dismissing us and being rude just because my mom mistakenly thought she was able to get a pedicure. I very politely said it was fine when they couldn't do it. The fact is though, they made her feel bad, and they followed up by being rude to me and making us both wait for a long time without bothering to say "sorry about the wait." It was not a walk-in, but a scheduled appointment, and service should/could have been professional and prompt. It's alright to say you can't give someone a pedicure for a valid reason, but totally uncalled for to then ignore them. It's also unprofessional to schedule two pedicure appointments for 6pm and then not even be on-schedule enough to start one of the pedicures a full 25 minutes later. When I raised my disappointment and asked if I should come back another time, they (in my opinion) very insincerely apologized and didn't try to repair the experience in any way. I left without a service. Super disappointed in a place I had had OK experiences in the past. Not worth going to a place that doesn't treat people in a professional and kind way. They made my mom feel embarrassed, and showed absolutely no hospitality or professional courtesy. Sorry - but I won't be going again and don't recommend it either. read more

Very disappointed during my second and will be my last visit to Lucy Nails. When I booked my appointment the day before, I was not told that they would turn me away if I arrived 15 minutes late (traffic that night was heavy). I was in dire need of a shellac removal and polish, so to say the least, I was very very disappointed. I have driven half an hour to get there. Luckily, that same night, I found an excellent nail salon just 5 minutes drive from where I live! I was welcomed 15 minutes just before closing time even without an appointment. Horrible. I never write reviews but this made me so mad. There's a reason why their services are so cheap. I go in saying I want a full set of acrylic nails and immediately they start trying to up sell me with gel nails and shellac. When I told her firmly "no" then everything else started having additional costs. She charged me $5 for cutting 3 finger nails and $5 for wanting them long, which is hilarious because these tips barely go past my fingers. Then she cut me with the file causing me to bleed. Went here for the first time this past weekend. Fast and cheap, for sure, but the manicures don't last! Mine started chipping the very next day! I have been getting OPI manicures for years and they are usually intact for about a week. While I was there, I noticed one of the staff topping up OPI top coat bottles from a larger bottle that was most definitely NOT OPI branded. I suspect they may be using OPI bottles but filling them with cheaper, poor quality stuff. I'm not going back - I'd rather pay more for a manicure that lasts more than 24 hours! read more

Horrible service!!!! BEWARE! many of the nail technicians are not experienced and almost all of them are rude and rush you out. I felt like I was being herded like a sheep. They threw on plastic baggies on my feet and I interrupted them and asked if my toes were dry and she kept saying yes. Obviously when I got home all my toes were smudged, and one had the entire nail polish smudged off. On top of this, I was lied to about the total amount of my petti and shellac mani by one dollar so she could pocket an extra dollar even though i tipped 4$, I didn't realize this until after and was furious I was lied to about the total. My friend felt the same way about her experience when she was with me and was pressured to do shellac or fake nails instead of regular polish. I went to get a pedicure at nine months pregnant. I thought it was going to be a relaxing time, but it started with my nail technician asking me when I was due, and then asking me if I was having twins (what every pregnant woman wants to hear). Another technician came over later and suddenly I had hands rubbing my belly. The pedicure was subpar, and she cut my cuticles too short.
