A great little salon in North York. I came here for the first time this past weekend upon recommendation from a friend. The staffer were so kind and helpful when I was choosing colours. They also offered me tea, coffee & water while I waited. I would definitely recommend checking out their Instagram page to see what designs they do. I got a shellac manicure DND shade 586 Pink Salmon with additional foil artwork ( $10 extra ) My sister did a periwinkle blue with chrome powder on top. ( $15 extra ) My nail artist was Jennifer and she did such a great job with my nail art, but was a little aggressive when filing my nails and cleaning up my cuticles. There are some areas of my fingers which still hurt a little. My sister's nail artist was Chloe, and she was so lovely. She was patient while we chose colours, and had a great eye for colour when she was choosing a chrome powder to put on top. Overall the place is clean, the service was good, and the price point was great. A regular Shellac Manicure = $30 Nail Design ( 2 fingers ) = $10 Additional Chrome on all fingers = $15 Additional It was a great place to try out while I was in the area, but I might not come back because it's a little out of the way for me. read more

The shop is within walking distance from home, which is very convenient. Consistent quality results from all techs I've been worked on. My go to girls are Jennifer, Kathy and Chloe, but they all seem top notch. Jennifer listens to my requests and follows through. Kathy is very thorough and detailed. Always easy to schedule appointments if in advance and for weekdays (time of year is a factor.) The pedi massage chairs need upgrading though. Depending on who's manning the front desk communication can be a bit challenging, so keep in mind to clarify and confirm. read more

It's been a few months that I have continuously been coming back to Nails Republic and like mentioned, this is now my nail place. I refuse to go anywhere else. My girl Kate knows exactly what I want without asking. She has a great sense of taste and always offers colours that suit me even when I initially doubted it. Its like she knows me better than I know myself when it comes to my nails. I've seen how the other girls are too and I trust that any one of them would do just as good as a job. I really don't understand the bad reviews this place us awesome. They are extremely friendly and sweet ladies! The pedicures are so thorough, they even do a foot mask. It's very clean, and pleanty of colour and design selection. I also think it's worth mentioning that we are now in 2018, just because people speak another language in front of you doesn't mean they are talking about you. The price I was told for the full set of nail extension was 55 but the reception was so abrupt saying 55? No it's 65 which was not true. quality Of the nail extension was so aweful that I couldn't ask for better; the fake nails were glued too crooked that they should have been removed entirely and as a result damage to my nails and waste of time. After googling salons in Toronto that do ombré French manicures, I found this place. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I'm off from work this week and going on vacation in a couple of days...so I had time to pack a lunch and venture out into the depths of North York. When I arrived I was kindly greeted and seated promptly. I was asked a few times by a couple of different people what I wanted, though I explained it in the Facebook message I sent Nails Republic to make the appointment (I want a refill with ombré French nails)...but no big deal. When we got started, the existing colour on my nails was removed and a layer of gel was applied. I thought that there would be some cuticle work, but was told that this was not part of the service and was charged separately. My cuticles are quite clean, so I decided to save the 5 bucks and continue on. I asked for coffin shaped nails and that is exactly what I got. The shape was done better than any other salon I've gone to where I've requested coffin shaped nails. When the gel and shaping part of my manicure was done, another person came to do the ombré polish. It was done with a sponge; it came out quite nice. There is no polish flooding and the work was clean. Personal pet peeve is when you remove your hand from the UV machine and the nail tech yanks your hand closer, nearly sending you flying into the wall behind them, so they can continue working your nails. This happened a couple times during the initial shaping and gel part. It's a small thing...but a bit of 'gentle guidance, vs 'tug of war wallop' would be appreciated. Found this place on a whim but they're absolutely fantastic! They were able to squeeze me in even though it was a drop in. Upon stepping in, it was really packed so these ladies know what's up! They started getting to work right away on my toes and hands, and also offered me something to drink during the process. The girl who did my toes was really fast (not that talkative or pleasant), but she got the job done! The girl who did my fingers was amazing. The reason I only chose this place was because it was close to my church so after service I came here instead of my usual nail salon at Finch. No hand massage, whatever fine. Cut my nail, didn't even apologize fine. Walked out, not even a thank you or whatever. Employees doing nails for employees and employees even sitting on the same chairs that customers do. Not great. Mani and pedi were done at the same time, and that always bothers me since you know they are just rushing you out. I asked for a french manicure and got a pink bubble gum base. The shape and all was good, but they cut two of my fingers and the UV machine burned my hand. That's never happened to me before! The staff at Nails Republic are courteous, but not overly warm or inviting. I've visited 5 or 6 times and never found the staff friendly. Although they were extremely chatty and close with other customers. It started to feel a bit cliquish and I wondered how many times I had to visit before they'd start to be friendly with me and my mom. I had issues with more than one booked appointment not being in the schedule; and when I called ahead to confirm an appointment, it caused confusion. They give a fantastic pedicure, which includes a lovely foot mask, if you have regular polish instead of shellac. Over my several visits, I found that my biogel was not shaped smoothly and the tips never quite reached that perfect almond shape. The biogel nailbeds were uneven and mildly lumpy, and the tips were often crooked. Their process is to apply two layers of extremely thick biogel and then to shave a great deal of it off; which leaves them thick. They also don't apply a layer of biogel on top of the polish, which would make the polish last between visits. I tried chrome here once and the polish was chipped by the time I returned. I was recommended by my older cousin and I've been going to this nail salon for almost a year now and their service is amazing. The staff are friendly and they offer you drinks such as tea, water or coffee. The only con about is that I live 35 mins away but honestly that's okay, the outcome for the nails is so worth it. Originally loved this place because I got bio gel extensions here and they looked great. However, I came back to get them removed and the lady rushed it so hard. It was not gentle at all, my skin bled in some places and she filed them so hard that my nails bent (they were already thin but still). They didn't use acetone at all and simply filed. The length is uneven and as you can see, she did not even remove all of the gel in many places but also filed into my natural nails in others. Three of my nails are cracked. I had to pay 15 dollars and not sure if I will be coming back :( read more

The best place I've ever received a mani. I find it puts the other mani pedi places to shame. I commend Nails Republic for being so clean as well. I love how they remove all their tools from sealed bags before they use them on you. My girl Linh worked wonders when she turned my grotty, bitten nails into works of art thanks to her handiwork, biogel and shellac. The total? 45 dollars for the biogel and an extra 10 for shellac. I got them done back in May and I am still receiving compliments. They have yet to break and the bio gel was not applied thick at all. Because of my super short nail bed, all the other places I went to made my nails looked like they were poppin', which isn't a cute look for anyone. This new mani has completely transformed my hands and elegantly elongated my fingers. read more

I felt no respect at all and wonder if she thinks herself has the best taste in the whole world. And she is very rude and not gentle at all. My finger got cut and she didn't even feel sorry for it. Very overpriced. Went in to get mani pedi shellac and bio gel...came out 3 hours later and $110 spent. Also the colour I chose came out totally different than the colour I picked on the wheel...at first I was offered a bottle of water or coffee or tea, which was a nice touch. I will see how well my nails do before making a decision to return. Fingers crossed they last! Never go here!! Terrible service. Told me to come in for a shellac polish change. When I came in, told me they don't do shellac polish changes and have to do a full manicure. Tried to lie to me and explain you need a full manicure for Shellac but said can do a polish change and charge me for a full manicure. What a waste if my time and what awful service. They try to get you in to then try and up charge you. Also would not provide me with the owners number so I just had to walk out. read more

Best manicure I have ever had. Even brought my husband. Everyone is super nice there. My manicure has been consistent every time and the polish has lasted ages. Great selection for f colours. Parking is a bit of a problem but it's worth the effort. It is busy, so don't expect a walk in. Appointments are best. Opens late. read more

Ever since the other salon that I used-to frequent was unable to take me on a busy Sunday (as I had forgotten to make an apointment); Nails Republic are now my go-to nail salon. I've had the pleasure of having Kate and Ahn (Anne?) do my nails and waxing; every time I go in they are always cheerful, happy and they really do care about the QUALITY of their services! I have never been rushed to get out, and they have gone past their closing time to accommodate me and make sure that no quality is lost from time-crunch. Regarding their services, I have tried many of their services (waxing, pedicure, manicure, bio-gel) and their price is very fair for their superb service and care! They even have a loyalty program card where each $15 dollars you spend you get a stamp, after you fill the card you get $15 dollars off any service! :) They always make you feel welcome and at ease. I have been getting my bio-gel nails on the regular now as they take superb care of my nails. Pedicure wise, very good price for a foot mask, scrub, light massage, cleaning your nails, etc. Everything in the salon is super clean, their waxing area is well-kept, well-lit and extremely comfortable. Some of the staff, their English may not be the best but their smiles and patience in understanding what you want (nail design, whatever it is) overcomes any language barrier. Usually the other staff help out with translation, it really is like a small sisterhood there :) Everyone is so friendly and kind. If you are in the area and are looking for a place to go regularly that CARES about you and the health of your nails; and most importantly your health and safety...THIS IS THE PLACE. I have never walked out unhappy. The one time my biogel nail on my thumb broke, i went in and they fixed it right away, no fuss! Seriously, Nails Republic is the best in the area. I went to this place a couple of months ago as it was recommended to me and the reviews seemed good. When I called to make an appointment I asked them if they wanted to know what I wanted for the manicure so they could answer any questions ahead of time. They said no, it doesn't matter. I got a regular pedicure which turned out fine. The girl who did it was fairly quick and did a good job. However, when I asked her if I should show her what style I wanted for the bio-gel and tips I booked for my manicure once again I was told no. She didn't even bother to soak my previous manicure colour off as she did my pedicure. Speed forward to me sitting there with my pedicure waiting like an idiot to be acknowledged by whoever was supposed to do my manicure. I finally tell the person doing it what style I want and she argues me that maybe I shouldn't get tips, that tips can look too long and ugly, as well as saying that she probably doesn't have the colour I want. It was a pink colour by the way, and if there is one colour nail salons have a hundred different versions to choose from it's pink. Anyway I settle for a random pink colour, not wanting to be a bother. All of that was fine. Usual annoyances you might experience at a nail salon. However the worst part of my experience was the way my manicure was done. I wanted an ombré. The person doing my nails did the ombré with a sponge, instead of an airbrush which is apparently the right way to do it. My nails had big, ugly bubbles in the colour. When I pointed this out all she said to me was oh, yeah that's from the sponge. Yea, from the sponge you chose to use! When she was done she just got up from her chair and disappeared. No thank you for coming, or let me cash you out, or how do you like your nails. You seemed pretty chatty when you were talking about the ugliness of tips. I was out of there for something like $120 for a crap job. Maybe actually listen to what your customer wants when they call to make an appointment so you can tell them what you do or do not provide. If I knew you had no idea how to do the ombré I would have never come. I've never seen someone else's bio-gel messed up like that. read more

I live close by and decided the place looked nice and clean i would give it a shot. I am pretty low maintenance, but i do think that as a customer you have to minimum, at least, get what you pay for. I've gone a few times as i always give chances and was genuinely hoping that each time would be better. but no. The first time was OK, actually, got a regular manicure/pedicure without any issues. the second and third (maybe i went a 4th as well) they set me up with what i am assuming was a new girl. I have zero issues with people being new, because we all the right to learn, but she didn't even care at all about what she was doing. She was filing my nails while looking out the window, then would look at me and smile, just very distracted and my nails all turned out crooked and super un-even. polish didnt last either, chipped in like 2 days. The other time that i went was again for a regular manicure/pedicure and for some reason the girl, (the new girl again, after i had mentioned i didnt like the job she did) put oil on my hands and nails before she applied the polish. Needless to say the polish didn't DRY and i had to leave as someone had to use the dryer. I never went back, and have told everyone that despite how pretty the salon is it's terrible workmanship. Took my two daughters and their friend to get mani and pedi recently. They were all quite happy with the services, including the exfoliating rub on arms and legs, and message. All of them got polka dots pattern as well. The nail colour on my daughter lasted really long, 10+ days, even though they were quite rough with their hands. I also got my first shellac french manicure, which of course lasted forever. I booked an appt for four of us, and were taken in on time. It was a slow Tuesday afternoon though. They suggested a time when all three girls could sit side by side and get their services done at the same time. This was nice as I want them to be able to chat and catch up with each other. Overall I would definitely recommend this place. Very clean, hygienic, and decor is soothing. Free parking was a plus too. read more

This is the only place where I walk out completely satisfied with how my nails look and how much I enjoyed the overall experience. The first time I went the phone kept ringing to book appointments and the girl who was doing my nail was the one I guess responsible for answering the phone as well so it took longer than it should have. But I was still happy with my nails and she gave me a discount for taking longer. The second time I went in I felt truly pampered and absolutely loved how my nails looked. My cuticles were trimmed perfectly and the polish applied effortlessly. The ladies here all try their best to make the experience as enjoyable and relaxing as possible and I love their stamps card. Excellent service! Ladies there took care of my nails and did an excellent job with my manicure. I had bio gel and shellac done. The nails were a bit too long for me so I called to ask if they can make it shorter and they were very quick to give me an appointment and do it for free! Would I go back there again? Yes!!! I came in 10 mins early for my appointment hoping they would take me in early but they didn't which is fine/ expected. When I came in the lady who talked to me was chewing food and talking at the same time and I had to ask her to repeat what she was saying multiple times and it was just really awkward. The staff immediately didn't seem very friendly and I didn't really care until I realized they were being very nice to everyone else. The problem was I waited almost 15 mins longer than my actual appointment so I needed up waiting 25 mins all together. While I was waiting two people came in after me and were put in chairs before me! They seemed to be very friendly with the staff so they clearly value some customers over others. Little things the ladies were doing just made me feel uncomfortable. The whole vibe of the place is just kind of negative and unprofessional. Anyways they finally put me in a chair and did my nails. The beautician didn't tell me her name and didn't ask any questions. I don't care to make small talk or anything like that I just think you should do the basic things your job entails. I showed the lady a picture of the length I wanted but she made them much longer. It's fine because I ended up liking the length but it wasn't what I asked for. The lady who did my nails seemed very skilled but was very rude with an attitude. She seemed upset when I would ask her questions or told her how I would like the length, shape, etc. Last they put me in the nail dryer. I asked if I was done with the nail drying( they left me in their for a long time without telling me how long I would be in it). The nails look really nice I just wish they had better customer service skills. At the very least treat everyone equally! The whole experience was very degrading and upsetting.
