This used to be a good nail salon, but not anymore! After much thought, I have decided to post my experience with this nail salon to make other people aware and to think twice before going here. The owner has becme very rude and cocky over the past few months, is getting worse, and likes to gossip and insult the customers. I have always appreciated their services and always supported them, but after the last few times I have come in here and seen how nasty and greedy the owner and his wife have become, I have had enought. It is time to switch salons! I was a loyal customer to this nail salon since they opened (for almost 10 years), referred many people here, and they don't care. They pretend to be your friend to get information about you, then talk badly behind your back to the other customers, staff, and people that live in the area. It's sick! Then they act like they never said anythng. They can talk gargabe behind your back, but are too much of a coward to say it to your face. All they care about is getting your money! Did I mention that the wife of the owner of this salon has the nerve to tell other customers that her husband hates me while they are in the chair getting their nails done during the same time I am at the salon?! I couldn't believe it as I never have done anything to them! All I did was support them, and I am still in shock as why they have treated me like this. There is something wrong with this couple that owns this salon, and I would advise to stay away from them. I would check out other salons in the area, and just avoid this place all together. The only person that has remained consistant and professional over the years is the one stylist Calvin. In terms of the rest of the staff, I dont know what their problem or issue is, and I don't want to know. They can insult someone else. I would recommend to go elsewhere. They are better places to go that provide better quality, better customer service, where the salon is cleaner and newly renovated, there are places that have better pricing (I know as I have done my research the last few months before switching), other places have a better colour and style selection, other salons will do a design or ombre without making a big deal or refusing a simple request (not reject your request and get their other clients to post cheesy sticker designs placed on their nail and edit their google review afterward lol), other places appreciate their clientale, and there are other salons that do not insult you in Vietnamese behind your back while you are getting your nails done, gossip about you to their staff/clients in the salon, or people in the area to try and ruin your reputation. This place is rated a 4.7 on Google, but I disagree, after recieving this abusive treatment consistantly for the last six months, I would rate this nail salon as a 4.1, if that! So long Davisville Nails. It's been a real experience and lesson! All the money and time I spent here over the years was a complete waste. I've been going for years for the bio gel on my hands and regular pedicures. I highly recommend this space. They are always on time, sweet, friendly, very reasonably priced and free movies. Clean bathroom and facility, massage chairs and lovely staff. My nails never chip and they always do a fabulous job!!!!!! Best little secret in town. read more

Pros - good value and Calvin gave a good foot massage and scrub and hot stone treatment pre polish. He communicated well and understood my requests. Cons - Terrible communication on the part of the rest of salon regarding a nail that needed repairing (which I eventually declined to do). The staff were discussing something about it in another language without telling me what was happening and then a girl moved to take over from Calvin with no explanation! I had told another staffer I usually get acrylic and they said gel lasts longer which may be true but to switch my technician to do this service without asking is just rude! I said just to leave it and Calvin filed it nicely and gave me good polish application to finish off. As I checked out, the manager attempted to explain what occurred but did not comprehend why I was not happy. At no point did I accuse or imply the staff were saying negative things just that no one told me what was happening but he assumed the former. He defended them saying that regulars know how things are done there but as a new client I was treated like I was in the wrong. It was far from relaxing from start to finish. The manager showed me how booked they are as if to prove I was the problem as they are so busy. The salon is also very claustrophobic and dim and I definitely will not go back. read more

I've been getting shellac pedicures here for about two years now, and I actually thought I had written a review quite some time ago. This is the only nail salon I go to for pedicures, given that it's in my neighborhood, so I'm surprised it's taken me this long to post a review. It's not a fancy place, but the staff are super friendly and the owner is really nice and makes everyone feel welcome. I have had a few different ladies do my pedicure over the years and I've been mostly happy with each experience. I'm not a fan of the hot stone massage, as the first two times I ended up with bruises on my shins or ankle bones. (I bruise fairly easily) so I just request that they not use stones at all and the massage is very nice. The only other issue I've experienced has been with the polish colours. A few times in the past I've chosen a colour only to be told that it's not available, or that it won't look the same as on the swatch. Kind of strange, but I ended up having to choose a different colour. I tend to gravitate towards similar shades, so if I like a colour that's not available, I kind of wish they'd just cross it off so I don't keep going back the same ones only to be disappointed. I noticed on my last visit that their polish selection has grown and there are more shades, so that's a good thing. The pedicure itself has always been fantastic and I'm pleased with the results. I don't think I've ever had any problems with the polish wearing off or even chipping, so I have no hesitation to recommend this nail salon to anyone. read more

This nail salon is amazing! The owner is very nice and they will accommodate you as long as you keep them in the loop about when you are going to arrive if you are running late. The women who did my nails were very friendly and they did an amazing job. They listened to my requests and shaped my nails exactly how I wanted them. I've been to many nail salons where I requested one thing and left with something completely different, so I am very happy that they listened to my requests and got it right. I was wearing boots when I went for my mani/pedi and was worried my pedicure would smudge when I put my boots back on. When I got home I checked my pedicure and to my surprise, I was relieved to see that my nails looked fantastic. They didn't smudge! It's been three weeks and my pedicure still looks great! I went in to get a pedicure and bio gel manicure with extensions. Bella who did my nails did an excellent job with my bio gel manicure - she was sweet and very professional. I would totally go back and book with her again for manicure. Sadly I can't say the same about my pedicure! The girl who did my pedicure was extremely rough and I never had a pedicure this painful before! She even made one of my toes bleed!!! the blood dried up and now left a mark! I was so afraid of getting an infection!! I will never go back to the salon for another pedicure again. read more

I am new to shellac, but recently I went to Davisville Nails with a friend who lives in the area. Great experience! Super friendly and clean, with great colour options. Nothing hurt, felt weird, etc. and despite my tiny nails, they always stayed well within the lines. Choosing a colour, I went with an army green and was promptly swarmed with compliments! My technician said it was not a very popular colour to choose, but maybe times are changing. It's nice to be different sometimes. It's a little bit of a hike here for me, but the price is right! Service (4/5): very pleasant staff, although communication is a slight challenge due to minor language barriers. They were very accommodating though, I had an appointment to remove my gel nails and do a shellac set however upon seeing the poor condition of my nails I decided to not do the shellac set. I don't know how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars!! They are so incredibly thorough- Sarah even trimmed my ugly toe hairs!! She was so careful in trimming my cuticles and took her time to be sure it was painless and perfect. And then!... A short hot stone massage!!! Which pedicure place you've gone to only charges $25 for pedicure ($35 for mani and pedi) and gives you a hot stone massage??? Impressed! Polish application: so careful and accurate- she didn't even get any only my skin. They have boxes to keep your client specific tools separate. Towels and materials are wonderfully organized. I went to this salon as I was going on a trip and needed a shellac manicure and pedicure. I live near by and walk by this place many times and decided, based on the reviews, to try it. The staff was friendly and the cost was reasonable, but that is were the positive aspects stop. First, the floor seemed dirty. They did my manicure and pedicure at the same time in the pedicure massage chair, so I was constantly sitting in odd positions for my manicure to be done. Even though there were no customers when I came in, everything felt rushed. My pedicure was squared, but they were not straight and were all on an angle. The woman doing my manicure cut me and made me bleed in 2 different spots. On one finger the blood mixed with the nail polish and stayed until the polish came off. She then dropped an instrument on the floor and then picked it up and went to use it until I said something. Not a good experience. Will not be going back. read more

I came to this spa for the first time today with my 2 cousins and I was very happy. Let me start by saying I was immediately impressed when I called to book my appointment, the receptionist was very informative and organized. The price was VERY affordable at $25 for a classic pedicure (this includes a mini hot stone massage and foot rub!!) They had a great color selection with a good mix of brands OPI, china glaze, etc. I was also happy that nobody hassled me to upgrade or even mentioned shellac! Sometimes, I find with a a good price comes a sales pitch,but this was not the case here. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and efficient. Bella did an amazing job on my troublesome heels and applied my nail color flawlessly! Her massage was heaven! Also Anna and Mary attended to my cousins and they were also VERY pleased. The receptionist/manager Sun was also super helpful and kind. I felt relaxed and happy the whole visit and left with beautiful feet! Not to mention my cousin was LATE and they accommodated no problem and with a smile. Been getting my manicures here for a few years now. No, it's not a beautiful salon, but that's not what's important to me. The staff are amazing. Sun is always happy to translate to his staff who are still learning in order to make sure they know what you want. Bella is beyond patient and takes such care in her job. At first, I was kind of scared because the place wasn't as nice as the Ten Spot, where I came from a couple days before. They have older pedicure tubs with the jet streams. They spray and wipe it down after use. Their salon appears to be clean. When you go you get a personal box that's stored to be used the next time you come in (emery board, nail buffer, etc.). Looks like they use UV to sterilize their stainless steel instruments. I'm not sure what the story is behind the foot scrubber, though. Not the best variety of colours to choose from but I found what I was looking for. This is definitely not the crème de la crème of nail salons, but the pedicure is $25. This was my first pedicure so I don't have others to compare it to, but I'm happy with it. Staff are friendly. Not all of them speak English that well, but if your nail tech doesn't understand you, someone else there probably will, so pay attention in case they didn't understand what you asked for, and get some clarification if you need it from another tech. Luckily there was another customer there who could more effectively explain what I was trying to say, who also helped me find what I was looking for. During my visit, there were customers who appeared to be regulars. Friendly staff, good affordable nail services--I can see why they have so many repeat customers. $25 for a good pedicure with friendly staff? I'd go back for sure. According to their flyer, until April 30 they have a 10% off sale in celebration of their grand re-opening, which means you save 10% on top of a very affordable service. They appear to have been in business for a while, and have moved from a previous location. The staff here are friendly, and even though their salon doesn't sparkle like at the Ten Spot, they appear to follow proper hygiene procedures. When I went there, all reviews were 4 or 5 stars so I didn't have doubts at that time... First of all, I asked shellac manicure, but I think I got bio gel, because it doesn't feel like usual shellac I make, it is thicker and looks different. Second, after 2 days it started to chip off, on day 2 nails were almost gone. Manicure itself was meh. Yes, my nails are short, but could you take a better care of cuticle?.. May be this place is ok for a change of colour, but I will not return for shellac. Waste of money. read more

I was treated like a princess my entire time here! I went in for a regular mani-pedi & received the VIP treatment given to all customers. I was welcomed warmly, began my treatment right away, & had two, lovely ladies working on me - one for fingers, one for toes. Talk about the good life! I've gotten my nails done in so many different places but nothing beats Davisville Nails. Their work lasts a really long time, doesn't chip and doesn't break easily. Excellent customer service. They don't treat you like a number; they actually care about your comfort and there's no language barrier which I often encounter in other nail salons. They have lots of magazines, a TV with a movie for you to watch (last time I was there it was Billy Madison). I got a mani/pedi (regular) for $45 and that included shellac polish removal. The best place in the city in my opinion! Nicest staff always friendly and smiling. The girls here work HARD and long hours and still always take their time on your nails ensuring they're perfect and you're happy. The nails here last long- no chipping or peeling. It was my first visit with my friend , it was all going ok till we selected colours and everything the bad part started for me when the colour I chose was melting away so they asked me choose another one, but it was ok I can understand. However when I was choosing my second colour the lady literally said me it's not going to look good on me. Not once but twice she said that. I think it should be my decision i eventually had to go for a different colour. Also at end the left me with my hands in that led machine and went for another customer Then my friends shellac results were not good to they had to do it again. Sun & Sara are the owners of this superb beauty salon. I live in Davisville and have been going here for 3+ years. Sun is like a ray of sunshine when you enter the salon. He greets you (usually by name) and will even help you pick out your nail polish colours if you're feeling indecisive (which is usually the case for me.) I haven't had the pleasure of having my nails done by his partner Sara yet as she is usually booked up but I highly recommend you ask for Anna if she is available. She does a great job and is very sweet. I usually get shellac polish and removal and the occasional pedicure done. Prices are very reasonable and the service is great. Best nail salon I have ever gone to. First off, the service here is amazing. Sun provides the best customer service and all the staff always accommodate my needs! Sun always accommodates my last minute changes and is always helpful when giving a second opinion about my colour selection as I am very indecisive. Sarah, Bella and Mary ( as well as all the girls who work there) are AMAZING, everyone there is equally skilled. The fact they know me by name, and remember my plans makes my experience that much more pleasant! The hot stone pedicure is the best, they take time, are patient, and I am always left satisfied with my pedicure or manicure service. Lately I had to go to other nail locations due to my hectic schedule. I will however end up coming back to Davisville nails, as they are not comparable with any other nail salon in Toronto! I am a regular and I come here every 3 weeks. By far the BEST Bio Gel in town, my nails last so long, my nails are really long and I love how they clean your cuticles and are so delicate when doing so. (I am a big fan of Bio seaweed shellac, one of the only salons I find that use this brand!) The best part is I get so many compliments about how my nails look all the time. I went to this nail salon expecting to have nice decorative nails and a more classy nail experience. when I looked it up on Yelp the photos were misleading to what I actually got. The salon itself was ruin down with cracked tiles and older nail furniture. The actual manicure the nail technician couldn't communicate with me and she scraped my remaining nail polish off. When I picked a new colour it was mediocre nail job with just base, colour and top coat. Price is lower but I wouldn't come back. read more
