Shellac manicure in pink with a light coat of sparkly polish
    Mary T.

I went to my first UYE event today. I'm all for a shellac manicure. I haven't had one in eight months! Today was the day. I have to thank Janna gain for organizing such a wonderful, relaxing event. It was nice meeting her, too. The nail place is located on the west side of Yonge Street, just south of Glencairn. I parked on a side street, as it's free! You have to move your shoes when you first walk in. That's normal for me, being from a Chinese family. That's all I know! The place is impeccably clean and white. I suspect the reason is to make the racks of coloured nail polish pop. I went with a shellac polish because I am pretty rough with my hands and want my manicure to last longer. It's cool that this place guarantees that your shellac manicure lasts for seven days. If it doesn't, they will happily fix it for you. Wow! My nail technician, Kim, was skillful and nice. She did a fantastic job. I was done in less than an hour. Staff there are friendly! I appreciated the 20% Yelp discount, which went towards my tip to Kim. I love this place. I'd come by here again when I'm in the neighbourhood. It's a shame that I don't work around Yonge and Eglinton anymore. I'd be here more often!

My sister and I came here Saturday evening for a mani pedi. For the most part, the place was busy but quiet. I really liked that the employees were professional and kept the small talk to a minimal. I also liked that they didn't talk over each other. As a matter of fact, they didn't really talk to each other that much at all. The atmosphere was quite nice. The place is a wee bit small but accommodating either way. Anyways, my sister and I got mani pedis. The girl who did my pedi was AMAZING! Sorry I didn't catch her name but the next time I do, I just might. She was great! She kept conversation small and really focused on getting the job done. The girl who did my mani, she was nice and sweet. And for the post part, I enjoyed the experience. I didn't like how I got hang nails the following day. Which I didn't have walking into the spa. My sister loved the lady who did her mani. If you're going in for a manicure no matter if it's a regular, shellac or the whole works, ask for Rose! She was fantastic. And the only one who wore a name tag. The only reason why I'm not giving this place a 5 star is because I was really upset that i didn't get the option to input how much tip i wanted to pay. Everything was done by the man at the front. "So that's $50.84 after tax. Do you want to leave anything?" ... umm why don't you pass me the pin pad so I can leave how much I feel the service deserved rather than me having to tell you upfront while your fellow colleagues stand behind you and eye me.

4.5 Stars! (admiring my red perfectly manicure nails) Thanks fellow yelper for organizing a yelp event at Nail Sense. (admiring my nails) This place is so clean and spotless.. and you cannot even smell the polish or polish remover that is so common in most nail salon. (admiring my nails) The staffs that doing the mani/pedi are all so polite, gentle and with this soft touch. I really felt pampered! (Stop Admiring Nails!!) When you have a group of 8, you can have your private group party. That's what we did!! We got to watch movies, eat sweets, drink Perrier.. yes I felt like I am in a Sex In the City scene.. :) The nail colours they have is so extensive, it does make choices really tricky. The good thing is they put it on one of your nails first and ask if you like it and you can still change your mind then. The minus 0.5 star is for the fruit flies... I don't know where all these little flies coming from.. it kept circling my face while I was at the Pedicure massage chairs. ... They accepts credit cards and Interac.

Three days later... Botched cuticle trim leaving me in extreme pain

TLDR; Would not recommend - only try this place if desperate. I walked passed this place on my way back from my eyebrow threading spot. My nails were in desperate need of some TLC and this place was on the way. I saw that the mani pedi combo was $35 so I went ahead with my friend. My friend and I walk in and were greeted rather coldly - like the frigid weather that day. They accommodated us both for mani pedis even though they all seemed quite busy. As they invited us to pick our colours, we then felt rushed to get into our chairs. My friend and I both initially had two people each working us. My manicurist kept leaving and coming back - which was a bit annoying. My friend's manicurist disappeared completely - I think she was the boss - and then she had two other girls come to take over the manicure job on separate occasions. The procedure - I was a bit iffy about this place. Cleanliness-wise I would give it a 2.5/5. I'm not sure if they used sanitized equipment. They also all used DREMEL HAND SANDERS TO BUFF AND POLISH OUR TOES! I repeat - DREMEL HAND SANDERS. This was a definite first for me and I was NOT a fan. They 1000000% do not sanitize or clean these. They do not change the heads of the sander and therefore use it on every client... which is extremely disgusting. Furthermore, I did not like that my toe nails were being sanded especially when my nails are already frail and thin! The foot and hand massages were half-assed. The only good thing about this entire nail job was the quality - my nails looked great after. After I was rushed off my seat - I was seated to the drying station. It was extremely uncomfortable. While I saw many people being ushered to the drying stations, being checked up on, assisting with hardening/quick dry spray, saran wrapping their toes and helping put their shoes on - I was flat out ignored and left on the drying station for an hour! Not happy about being the only person ignored - even when I tried to draw their attention to be assisted or have my nails checked to see if they were dry enough to put my boots on. My friend also was ignored throughout. The aftermath - My cuticles were SO badly cut that I'm in pain trying to do everyday things. My skin is peeling so much from the cuticle beds and my nails are already beginning to flake. All in all I spent over 2.5 hours here. Longest mani pedi session ever... I would not recommend this place.

What a guilty pleasure this place is, and I don't really care who knows it. As some yelpers discovered this CM is ALL ABOUT getting his Pedicure on. Of course if my guy friends ask I'd tell them that I went for a "sports nail job" because you know that sounds way cooler and manlier. But I really don't care. Pedicures ROCK! Word the wise single chap, most girls think our feet are gross already so logic would tell you to pop your peeps in a massage chaired seat and make them look as presentable as possible (you're only as good as your weakest player - remember that). I was so grateful to Roma M for pulling this little mani-pedi UYE together this past Sunday. After a hard week of work it was nice to squeeze in some RnR with some yelptastic peeps. Nailsense (one of the top reviewed Nail Salons in Toronto) was the scene of the crime and I was thoroughly impressed by this venue. This place was clean and extremely well laid out, lit and organized. Fixtures were shiny and new - the place looked amazing. What also impressed me was that before and after filling and emptying my foot bath my technician scrubbed and washed the tub out. For me being kinda fishy about cleanliness this was an automatic plus for me. Sitting next to Chris P, the two of us enjoyed tag team pedicures that for once in my life, seemed perfectly flawless. They were so gentle and meticulous that I didn't even notice them working (except when they scrubbed my foot and I nearly jumped out of my chair....it tickles). The staff in general was cordial, generous and extremely professional. Most of all the prices for all this were extremely reasonable. When I am in the Yonge and Lawrence area I shall return again. Great job all around!

Opi GelColor mani and my pretty pedi

Things I love about getting my nails done here - it's clean, they do a great job and they stand behind their work. I am reviewing after my second visit - because well the first time I wasn't so impressed with it, because I didn't know what I was supposed to expect and didn't have as good as an experience mostly through my own user error. The visit I just completed was UYE organised by Roma. ( triple thanks to Roma for organising the event) Kim did my gel polish this time and she was wonderfully patient with me - because I had flip flopped between colours a few times and she offered suggestions for colours. But eventually I did settle on my colour and I really do love it a lot. My pedi was just a regular pedi - but the girl did a great job too - she was really nice about everything too. The thing I like about Nailsense versus the recent ones is the fact that actually have a soaker foot bath, plus I love the fact that they asked me how I felt about the water temp and checked to make sure I was ok through out the pedicure. One thing I have to say and this is what really knocked out of the park for me - was that the gel polish is guaranteed for 7 days - and if it chipped and I was out of town - they said I could e-mail them the chipped nail (timestamped) and when I get back and I could get it fixed. Overall - I will be back for my next special occasion and pampering session and probably bring a few girlfriends along for the ride too. Also they did an amazing job on my boyfriend's sister wedding gel mani - it looked as though she had just got it done on the day of her wedding.

Shellac OPI Gelcolor Manicure in black.
    Ali M.

The salon is clean, fresh, and does not feel cramped like the last place I visited. Employees are gentle, polite, and rarely speak to each other while doing nails, which I find professional. There is a large TV which was playing an Anne Hathaway movie. I am an anxious person so I appreciated having somewhere to look. I also appreciated their charging station, as my phone died before I arrived. When I left it was fully charged, so their station is really good. I got a shellac OPI gelcolor manicure and a spa pedicure which is $60 before tax and tip. I booked online and mistakenly thought I was getting shellac on my toenails as well as my fingernails, but that is okay. I chose black for my shellac manicure and a black polish from the OPI Hello Kitty collection for my regular pedicure. The fact that the black polish was Hello Kitty is inconsequential, but it made me smile. My manicurists shaped my nails exactly as I wanted, did not hurt me, and were efficient. Before I left I was informed that I could return to have my nails redone if any damage occurred within seven days.

I was looking for reviews online on google and here, and there is hardly anything available. So, I've decided to share my experiences here. Hopefully, they will be useful for someone. On Tuesday, I tried @ananekebeautysalon. I went there to get my Biogel manicure refill. They are in Yonge and Eglinton area. This place was recommended to me, and it had such good reviews on Yelp, and BlogTo. Plus, with a personal recommendation, I thought it was going to be my go-to nail salon. Maybe it's just my luck but this is not going to happen. I do not remember the name of my nail artist. Here is a list of things I didn't like. 1) She took forever to do my refill, literally over 1.5 hours. I don't do anything complicated on my hands. Usually, it's just a French manicure which I was getting this time. She kept messing up the white lines on top of the nails and redoing them. And then again. And again. And again. ‍ While I did appreciate the effort to get it right, this is the first time somebody had to redo several times half of my nails. By the end of it, I wasn't sure that the lady knew what she was doing. 2) The lady didn't file the edges of my nails properly. I didn't notice it in the salon, but I noticed it later that day when I was already on my way home. 3) She was doing such a bad job filing my nails and cut so much skin next to the nail bed on one of my fingers that it hurt for a few days. 4) On Friday, four days later, the white gel polish started chipping on several of my nails. This is ridiculous. This is biogel. It last forever and can survive alien invasion, nuclear war, and zombie apocalypse. This is the reason why I do it: biogel is the only thing that doesn't chip on my hands for three weeks. I don't know how this lady did it that it started chipping so early. Not a happy customer here. Sadly, after this experience I can not recommend this place to anybody. Please avoid it. ‍

Some services I have personally had done with Ada: Mani & Pedi - Ada is so meticulous when it comes to my mani and pedi. My hands and feet always feel super smooth and clean once I'm done. I also feel super safe with her because she properly soaks her tools and every time I'm there her place is super clean. She is always wearing a mask and gloves. She also takes her time which feels spa-like when I'm there. Waxing & Tinting - She is an awesome waxer! It's always painless and quick as she had worked at Ten Spot and Waxon. I've gotten my brows waxed and tinted with her. Facial - Super relaxing and calming. she uses Dermologica products for her facials and caters it to what your face needs. Massage - she is a registered massage therapist so if you have insurance coverage, worth it! One time my neck had a bad kink and couldn't turn. She helped loosen my stiff neck. Again, totally recommend Ada. She has an online booking system which makes it super easy to book services with her (single or multiple services). Check her out, you won't be disappointed!

This used to be a good nail salon, but not anymore!…read more After much thought, I have decided to post my experience with this nail salon to make other people aware and to think twice before going here. The owner has becme very rude and cocky over the past few months, is getting worse, and likes to gossip and insult the customers. I have always appreciated their services and always supported them, but after the last few times I have come in here and seen how nasty and greedy the owner and his wife have become, I have had enought. It is time to switch salons! I was a loyal customer to this nail salon since they opened (for almost 10 years), referred many people here, and they don't care. They pretend to be your friend to get information about you, then talk badly behind your back to the other customers, staff, and people that live in the area. It's sick! Then they act like they never said anythng. They can talk gargabe behind your back, but are too much of a coward to say it to your face. All they care about is getting your money! Did I mention that the wife of the owner of this salon has the nerve to tell other customers that her husband hates me while they are in the chair getting their nails done during the same time I am at the salon?! I couldn't believe it as I never have done anything to them! All I did was support them, and I am still in shock as why they have treated me like this. There is something wrong with this couple that owns this salon, and I would advise to stay away from them. I would check out other salons in the area, and just avoid this place all together. The only person that has remained consistant and professional over the years is the one stylist Calvin. In terms of the rest of the staff, I dont know what their problem or issue is, and I don't want to know. They can insult someone else. I would recommend to go elsewhere. They are better places to go that provide better quality, better customer service, where the salon is cleaner and newly renovated, there are places that have better pricing (I know as I have done my research the last few months before switching), other places have a better colour and style selection, other salons will do a design or ombre without making a big deal or refusing a simple request (not reject your request and get their other clients to post cheesy sticker designs placed on their nail and edit their google review afterward lol), other places appreciate their clientale, and there are other salons that do not insult you in Vietnamese behind your back while you are getting your nails done, gossip about you to their staff/clients in the salon, or people in the area to try and ruin your reputation. This place is rated a 4.7 on Google, but I disagree, after recieving this abusive treatment consistantly for the last six months, I would rate this nail salon as a 4.1, if that! So long Davisville Nails. It's been a real experience and lesson! All the money and time I spent here over the years was a complete waste. You can keep your services and gossip about someone else!
