Not impressed. I came in 5 mins before my appointment at 5:30 pm on a Friday evening and was not welcomed at all. Instead of the rude older man everyone speaks about in reviews I got the rude older woman? Dark hair with glasses. She kept going on in Viet about how I came in JUST now or 5 minutes before my appt. I'm Viet but just dont look it. I couldnt also go earlier to appt cause I came straight from work. Rude older lady just said pick your colour and did not gesture where as there are 2 areas with nail polish. She did not even properly check me in. Also she did not even say I will give you the shellac colours in a bit. So I didn't know until I sat down. I had booked Rose, the senior nail tech, for shellac mani and spa pedi but had someone else working for my feet. I only knew she was not Rose because Rose herself was sitting next to us working on another person with a name tag on her coat. They said to have Rose for pedi I needed to have booked Deluxe Pedi. But that was not indicated on the booking website and I question that cause I did request her for my service online. Anyways, for pedi it was good enough and person who worked on me was thorough. For mani which was done by Rose, it was fine but I found my nails chip after 4 days. I went overseas soon after my appt so I didnt bother to contact them to get it fixed. But yeah, pretty disappointed due to all the positive reviews here. Not up to my standards in service or quality, especially since they raised prices to meet minimum wage. Do not recommend. I went to my first UYE event today. I'm all for a shellac manicure. I haven't had one in eight months! Today was the day. I have to thank Janna gain for organizing such a wonderful, relaxing event. It was nice meeting her, too. The nail place is located on the west side of Yonge Street, just south of Glencairn. I parked on a side street, as it's free! You have to move your shoes when you first walk in. That's normal for me, being from a Chinese family. That's all I know! The place is impeccably clean and white. I suspect the reason is to make the racks of coloured nail polish pop. I went with a shellac polish because I am pretty rough with my hands and want my manicure to last longer. It's cool that this place guarantees that your shellac manicure lasts for seven days. If it doesn't, they will happily fix it for you. Wow! My nail technician, Kim, was skillful and nice. She did a fantastic job. I was done in less than an hour. Staff there are friendly! I appreciated the 20% Yelp discount, which went towards my tip to Kim. I love this place. I'd come by here again when I'm in the neighbourhood. It's a shame that I don't work around Yonge and Eglinton anymore. I'd be here more often! read more

My sister and I came here Saturday evening for a mani pedi. For the most part, the place was busy but quiet. I really liked that the employees were professional and kept the small talk to a minimal. I also liked that they didn't talk over each other. As a matter of fact, they didn't really talk to each other that much at all. The atmosphere was quite nice. The place is a wee bit small but accommodating either way. Anyways, my sister and I got mani pedis. The girl who did my pedi was AMAZING! Sorry I didn't catch her name but the next time I do, I just might. She was great! She kept conversation small and really focused on getting the job done. The girl who did my mani, she was nice and sweet. And for the post part, I enjoyed the experience. I didn't like how I got hang nails the following day. Which I didn't have walking into the spa. My sister loved the lady who did her mani. If you're going in for a manicure no matter if it's a regular, shellac or the whole works, ask for Rose! She was fantastic. And the only one who wore a name tag. The only reason why I'm not giving this place a 5 star is because I was really upset that i didn't get the option to input how much tip i wanted to pay. Everything was done by the man at the front. "So that's $50.84 after tax. Nailsense has a great website where you can make appointments, which I really like. When I walked into the salon, everything looked extremely clean. Great first impression. I got a regular pedicure and gel nails, and they looked flawless! They really did a good job. The gel nails lasted 3 and a half weeks and the nail polish on my nails is still going strong 5 weeks out! Nailsense is pricier than what I'm used to, even with the cash discount. TLDR; Would not recommend - only try this place if desperate. I walked passed this place on my way back from my eyebrow threading spot. My nails were in desperate need of some TLC and this place was on the way. I saw that the mani pedi combo was $35 so I went ahead with my friend. My friend and I walk in and were greeted rather coldly - like the frigid weather that day. They accommodated us both for mani pedis even though they all seemed quite busy. As they invited us to pick our colours, we then felt rushed to get into our chairs. My friend and I both initially had two people each working us. My manicurist kept leaving and coming back - which was a bit annoying. My friend's manicurist disappeared completely - I think she was the boss - and then she had two other girls come to take over the manicure job on separate occasions. The procedure - I was a bit iffy about this place. Cleanliness-wise I would give it a 2.5/5. I'm not sure if they used sanitized equipment. They also all used DREMEL HAND SANDERS TO BUFF AND POLISH OUR TOES! I repeat - DREMEL HAND SANDERS. This was a definite first for me and I was NOT a fan. They 1000000% do not sanitize or clean these. They do not change the heads of the sander and therefore use it on every client... which is extremely disgusting. Furthermore, I did not like that my toe nails were being sanded especially when my nails are already frail and thin! The foot and hand massages were half-assed. The only good thing about this entire nail job was the quality - my nails looked great after. After I was rushed off my seat - I was seated to the drying station. It was extremely uncomfortable. While I saw many people being ushered to the drying stations, being checked up on, assisting with hardening/quick dry spray, saran wrapping their toes and helping put their shoes on - I was flat out ignored and left on the drying station for an hour! Not happy about being the only person ignored - even when I tried to draw their attention to be assisted or have my nails checked to see if they were dry enough to put my boots on. My friend also was ignored throughout. The aftermath - My cuticles were SO badly cut that I'm in pain trying to do everyday things. My skin is peeling so much from the cuticle beds and my nails are already beginning to flake. All in all I spent over 2.5 hours here. Longest mani pedi session ever... I came here because of its reputation as a clean nail bar, and on the recommendation of a colleague. I booked a French shellac manicure on a weekend and a brusque, borderline rude man at the front desk (the owner, I'm assuming) ignored me for about 5 minutes after I entered, before asking me if I had an appointment. Once I told him my name, I was seated with a nail tech that wasn't the one I chose when I booked online. It was disappointing because my colleague recommended a specific person to me. The technique was horrible. My nails were shaped all differently - some were round, some were oval, some were such sharp ovals that they were almost pointy. The owner also switched up my nail tech a few times - someone would come in, he'd come tap my tech on the shoulder, and she'd leave me, while I waited for someone else to continue my manicure. In retrospect, this is probably why my nails ended up being all different shapes - a girl would work on about 2-3 nails before being switched away. This also contributed to the terrible quality of my manicure in the end - the whites were all different thicknesses, which highlighted the not-uniform shapes of my nails, and my shellac started peeling THAT NIGHT, when I did no housework, didn't handle anything rough, didn't cook, and didn't do anything that could damage my nails. I suspect that my nail beds weren't adequately dehydrated before shellac application. They have a week-long guarantee or something like that, but I had such a poor experience I didn't bother - I didn't think they'd do a better job. My colleague was shocked to hear about my experience because she's only ever been pleased with service there, so I booked a mani-pedi next time under her encouragement, to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they overbooked at my first appointment so I couldn't have my own nail tech, maybe French shellac is too difficult to do well...I thought a basic mani-pedi would be fool-proof and indicative of if they're any good. My second experience was only slightly better. I had my own nail tech for both services, but the quality of the regular nail polish was atrocious - it was very thick and gloopy. Consequently, they took forever to dry and I nicked my nail while at the drying station. When I asked my nail tech to fix it, the owner actually came over to tell me off and told me I was moving too much! Then he told me off again when I went to pay. The quality of the mani-pedi was okay and I appreciate that their facilities are very clean, but my interactions with the owner left a very bad taste in my mouth. I left Nailsense both times unable to shake the feeling that I was discriminated against because I was the only Asian person on the other side of the table. All the other clients were well-to-do Caucasian women from around Forest Hill/Leaside/Lawrence Park, and I constantly felt like I was the last priority in terms of customer service, that everyone else there was more important than me (why else would they keep switching my nail tech away when someone new would walk in?), and most importantly, that the owner didn't want to serve me - that I was wasting their time even though I was a paying customer. I briefly considered getting waxed there because they supposedly have a good reputation for their waxing services, but I don't think it's worth being treated so poorly. What a guilty pleasure this place is, and I don't really care who knows it. As some yelpers discovered this CM is ALL ABOUT getting his Pedicure on. Of course if my guy friends ask I'd tell them that I went for a "sports nail job" because you know that sounds way cooler and manlier. But I really don't care. Pedicures ROCK! I was so grateful to Roma M for pulling this little mani-pedi UYE together this past Sunday. After a hard week of work it was nice to squeeze in some RnR with some yelptastic peeps. Nailsense (one of the top reviewed Nail Salons in Toronto) was the scene of the crime and I was thoroughly impressed by this venue.This place was clean and extremely well laid out, lit and organized. Fixtures were shiny and new - the place looked amazing. What also impressed me was that before and after filling and emptying my foot bath my technician scrubbed and washed the tub out. For me being kinda fishy about cleanliness this was an automatic plus for me. Sitting next to Chris P, the two of us enjoyed tag team pedicures that for once in my life, seemed perfectly flawless. They were so gentle and meticulous that I didn't even notice them working (except when they scrubbed my foot and I nearly jumped out of my chair....it tickles). The staff in general was cordial, generous and extremely professional. Most of all the prices for all this were extremely reasonable. When I am in the Yonge and Lawrence area I shall return again. Things I love about getting my nails done here - it's clean, they do a great job and they stand behind their work. I am reviewing after my second visit - because well the first time I wasn't so impressed with it, because I didn't know what I was supposed to expect and didn't have as good as an experience mostly through my own user error. The visit I just completed was UYE organised by Roma. ( triple thanks to Roma for organising the event) Kim did my gel polish this time and she was wonderfully patient with me - because I had flip flopped between colours a few times and she offered suggestions for colours. But eventually I did settle on my colour and I really do love it a lot. My pedi was just a regular pedi - but the girl did a great job too - she was really nice about everything too. The thing I like about Nailsense versus the recent ones is the fact that actually have a soaker foot bath, plus I love the fact that they asked me how I felt about the water temp and checked to make sure I was ok through out the pedicure. One thing I have to say and this is what really knocked out of the park for me - was that the gel polish is guaranteed for 7 days - and if it chipped and I was out of town - they said I could e-mail them the chipped nail (timestamped) and when I get back and I could get it fixed. Overall - I will be back for my next special occasion and pampering session and probably bring a few girlfriends along for the ride too. OK so I'm reviewing again. Why? Because I was totally heard. After my negative experience I was approached and asked about my experience. I was able to express what went wrong and why I felt so disappointed... I had such high expectations after my first visit, which let a mediocre experience feel that much worse. I work in hospitality and know how hard it is to have an employee who doesn't commit and come in to work ready to give it their all. I discussed this with the management, and they've expressed they're going to work on more training and keeping an eye out. I was back with my mom on Saturday and had a great experience. This place is always SO busy but it's a well-oiled machine, and we didn't have to wait for long, got to sit together, etc. I got a colour called Breathe Life on my fingers that is SO pretty - in the bottle it looks like a mermaidy shimmer that is kind of green, but on it's more purple and lovely. The salon is clean, fresh, and does not feel cramped like the last place I visited. Employees are gentle, polite, and rarely speak to each other while doing nails, which I find professional. There is a large TV which was playing an Anne Hathaway movie. I am an anxious person so I appreciated having somewhere to look. I also appreciated their charging station, as my phone died before I arrived. When I left it was fully charged, so their station is really good. I got a shellac OPI gelcolor manicure and a spa pedicure which is $60 before tax and tip. I booked online and mistakenly thought I was getting shellac on my toenails as well as my fingernails, but that is okay. I chose black for my shellac manicure and a black polish from the OPI Hello Kitty collection for my regular pedicure. The fact that the black polish was Hello Kitty is inconsequential, but it made me smile. My manicurists shaped my nails exactly as I wanted, did not hurt me, and were efficient. You can book a group of people and everyone gets a spa pedi and mani done at the same time for a great price. Nailsense was the cleanest nail salon I have ever seen. I mentioned to Janna S that it actually reminded me somewhat of a dentist's office, simply because it was so sterile looking (in a good way!) For our "party" they have 8 beautiful spa pedicure chairs set up in a row and enough staff present that we could all get our nails done at the same time. We got a movie of our choice playing on a big flat screen mounted onto the opposite wall. The manager stands by and keeps everyone organized, plus handed out free bottles of Perrier and a tray of macaroon treats! The whole thing was brilliantly orchestrated. I have been coming to Nailsense for 5+ years and have recently been treated with the utmost disrespect. The nail technicians at this salon are great and do a great job however the owner Mr Tien is a horrible man. I would like to state that since the pandemic I have not been able to book any services over the phone, all appointments have been booked either in person or on their self-service booking website. My first terrible encounter was when I was running late for an appointment (a mani/pedi) recently and made a courtesy call informing him that I would be late by 15 mins, upon which he decided to cancel my appointment. I was on my way and got stuck in unexpected traffic, which I explained to him however he insisted on canceling my manicure appointment and said I was only allowed to proceed with a pedicure. I pointed out that there is no policy indicating being late for an appointment will warrant getting your appointment cancelled and was hoping he would make an exception considering how long I've been a client and I had two appointments booked, however he was very firm, refused and even called his team to let them know that they could not honour my manicure appointment. This is an appointment I had to book 4 weeks in advance due to him having only two nail technicians available after the pandemic who were working. Unfortunately again, I had an upcoming appointment that was rescheduled. I booked a mani/pedi both for 12pm and received an email indicating it had been changed. I did not receive a call or email asking if I was ok with this change, if the time was convenient, nothing. I had to send an email asking why my appointment had been changed and received a short email stating that Nailsense does not provide mani/pedis at the same time. I and other clients have received these services countless times together. I have seen clients receiving manicures and pedicures simultaneously recently and if this is something that has changed then it is the responsibility of the business owner to inform customers of the changes. I asked if I could keep my appointments as I had booked them and would ensure I didn't book them that way in the future. I also emphasized how rude it is to change someone's appointment without consulting with them first and the website shouldn't allow customers to book appointments this way if they are just going to be changed without any consultation. The reason I didn't want to change my appointment was that I'm 4 months pregnant and can't sit for too long something I didn't disclose and didn't feel like I needed too. Mr Tien responded to my email indicating that I cause his team stress and am unappreciative of the way they have accommodated me in the past and would no longer be welcome to their nail salon. I proceeded to inform him that I would cancel my own appointments if this is how he chooses to conduct his business. Mr Tien and I have only had two encounters, the first over the phone and the second via email. I was and still am shocked at the manner in which I have been treated. I have been nothing but kind and respectful to the Nailsense team the years I have been going there and if this is how long-standing clients are treated then this is not a business I would ever recommend or go back to. read more

I have been to Nailsense once before for a regular mani and was a bit disappointed at the time (uneven polish, chipped quickly), but decided to give them another chance after looking for good places and it coming up in a lot of suggestions. I showed up for my appointment and there was no one at the counter. Their online booking system did mention that rates were higher if paying with charge cards, but it did not mention that it would be 20% higher! That was the first thing I saw at the counter and immediately realized I did not have enough cash. It took a bit for one of the girls to notice me and she asked if I had an appointment. I said I did and whether there was an ATM nearby so I could take out cash. The girl had no idea. I think if they are going to steer people towards paying cash, they really should have a better idea where to direct people. I ran out to get cash and could not find anywhere with a working ATM close to the salon. It would have taken me 30+ minutes to get cash and eventually I gave up and left. Very disappointing experience overall, I really was looking forward to it and I would not come back. The staff were really unfriendly, unhelpful and the overcharge that claims that they have to do it to offset the wage increase does not really compute, as I have worked at a small business before and the debit/credit charges are not nearly high enough for this calculation to make sense. I may be wrong but I speak only from my personal knowledge. I had a good experience, but I didn't really find anything that really made it stand out for me. It was lacking any "wow" factor. I've been to many different nail salons in the city -- this place was solid but not particularly exceptional. Maybe I went on an off-day. It was a Friday after work and the place was packed! Although I had made a reservation online, I still had to wait 15 mins. once I got there. Yay! - Online appointment booking -- so convenient! - Very clean - Staff were polite and thoughtful - Chick flicks on the flatscreen TV (with closed captioning) keep you entertained, especially when you are getting a manicure and can't read magazines - Good selection of colours (Essie, OPI, China Glaze). I went with OPI's dim sum plum on my fingernails. - Nan did a great job on my manicure - very meticulous and precise - Very competitive prices - $15 manis or $35 for a mani-pedi Nay! - Some of the nail polish display shelves are really high, so for short people like me it's hard to reach them or see the colours - Having to wait, despite having an appointment - I did not find the service to be that great initially. This is my go to place for my nails. There is usually paid parking available on the street in front, but sometimes you do need to go on an inside street. I make my appointments online, however if there isn't anything available, they will work with you to try to squeeze you in if you call. This place is always busy so plan ahead! Inside is very immaculate, with white walls and floors. I love that they always have a movie playing, and also a charging station. They are very efficient, and will usually do my shellac removal while I'm doing my pedicure. I will say that they are pretty expensive though, and I do understand it's the nature of the area, but definitely not somewhere I can splurge at all the time. All right ladies, keep it down. It's time for a MAN to deliver his two cents on this Lawrence Park nail salon. Or at least, someone fairly close to a man. A man-boy really. Whatever, shush. I came here for my first mani/pedi experience with a group of fine lady yelpers on a Sunday afternoon, and I was blown away. Now, I've seen the inside of a few nail salons in my day and none are quite as shiny and clean as this one. The staff walk around decked in white smocks and wear name tags in Swiss type. It's very Bauhaus. There are eight (8) pedicure stations that look like they cost about a million bucks each, and when I arrived the girls were already getting their soak on. I plopped in and joined these yelpettes. These are incredible chairs. There are probably 1,000 vibrating massage permutations, though I liked the lower-back one best. As we got pampered we watched a DVD of the Reese Witherspoon classic* "How Do You Know." I was secretly hoping for more Girl Talk (i.e., discussions of dreamy man-yelpers, juicy gossip, "omigawds" tossed around hither and thither, etc.) but the plasma screen kept us pretty captivated. There was discussing of me getting lime green toes, but in the end I opted for a clear coat on both my hands and feet. I must say, it was a pretty relaxing experience, and the massages felt nice. Afterwards my fingernails felt very clean and strangely almost lighter. Does that make sense -- nailsense? An example: the owner gives free manicures to youngsters in the area who perform well in school. I saw a stack of book reports, math tests, and essays slathered in As and A plusses. (I even saw a 103%!) If that isn't incentive for a teenage girl (or sophisticated young lad) to keep up the grades, I don't know what is. NAIL SENSE is not only the best salon to get nail service in terms of QUALITY but a visit today showed re-affirmed how they have the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE INDUSTRY Important facts about me: -I have been to more than twenty salons in the city, both in the downtown core, and further uptown - I have been the best salons (like Nail Sense and Urban Nails) but also those whole in the walls, i do not discriminate, im always out to find new better deals Let me tell you about my experience on this particular day: I was in the are of Nail sense and my BIO GEL nails were growing out, i went into the shop and asked if they had any availabities and the male manager told them they do not do bio-gel nails considering that they are unhhealthy in the long run (which is very true) but instead of just shooing me away, he gave me a recommendation for a girl who used to work at his salon and whom he knew to be an expert, i kindly accepted and was on my way WHAT HAPPENED AT THE OTHER SALON it was a few doors down on the south and it was the WORST BIO GEL NAILS I HAD EVER GOTTEN, it turned out that the girl i had thought to be Ann, the recommendation, was not the one who gave me the manicure. The french she gave me was DISCOLORED in the pink area, the white lines were UNEVEN, the shape of my nails was also uneven. It was TERRIBLE. I had never seen something this bad. Even when i asked her to fix it and she tried it even looked worse. And there was a large language barrier which made it worse. if you need imagery: imagine your five year old cousin doing a french manicure for you...yup terrible THE POINT OF THIS WHOLE STORY when i went back to Nail sense to show the owner he was SHOCKED, he apologized profusely, he looked at my nails with genuine concern and when i described the appearance of the girl we realized it was not Ann. What he did next was amazing: he offered me a COMPLIMENTARY shellac service wtih KIM, since they did not do the bio-gel, and he said they would try their best to resurrect my nails Kim was FANTASTIC. very METICULOUS, very KIND, very concerned, she took her time and she delivered! despite not even having all of the tools needed to work with gel nails, she was able to FIX THE DISCOLOURATION, DRAW BEAUTIFUL WHITE STROKES, and a WHITE TOP COAT to hide the yellow of my nails. THE MORAL OF THIS STORY: Nail Sense has done a wonderful job over the years at proving it provides the best nail service, i myself have had my regular manicures done before. However for me what set it apart on this occasion was not its UNBEATABLE CLEANLINESS, RELAXING ATMOSPHERE or even COOL MOVIE PLAYING but the GENUINE CONCERN for a customer, even when they were not responsible or the bad service i had somewhere else. I decided to go to nailsense after seeing so many stellar reviews. I've been here twice, both times getting a shellac french manicure. For those who said they encountered a rude man at the front desk, I did as well on both occasions. Not exactly the best first impression. I don't pay money to be treated like crap. Nobody aside from the rude man at the desk spoke a single word to me. The nail technicians didn't look at me even once, (I've been with three. The first visit I had one, the second time I began with one and then she switched with another half way through), not a hello, not a smile, nothing. This only supported that "you're not welcome here" vibe that I already got from the rude guy. They had no problem whispering and giggling among themselves though. I expected the whole experience to be fun and relaxing, but it was just tense. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The manicure itself was decent, although on both occasions I had a nail chip within 3 days (I didn't bother going back to have it re-done). My only major complaint is that my nails were filed down too much. I typically keep my nails long and nicely filed, so that I have plenty of length to make a french manicure look good. Despite this the technicians filed my nails right down to the skin. I found this totally unnecessary and see no point of getting a french manicure if my nails are going to be super short. Background: Looking for a place to take my baby shower hostess out for a mani-pedi. Somewhere a little nicer looking without insane prices. Facilities: Great ambiance. Washroom is small but clean. Street parking free on Sundays (residential). Lots of massage chairs available as well as nail stations and a large selection of polish. Quality and Price: $35 for a mani-pedi, $60 for shellac mani-pedi not including tax. Receipt doesn't specify what you got though, so that was a little annoying because I couldn't double check if I was charged correctly. We were there for two hours, reasonable. I think I would return for a regular mani-pedi. It's a good price and the work is nice. Service: We were quite satisfied with the results. The only thing that kind of annoyed me was when one of the girls filled my nails and just got the dust all over my clothes. I don't think she really cared about it. We had our mani-pedi done while sitting on the massage chairs and despite only one of us doing Shellac, we were able to finish at the same time. Drying took a while but no one check in on us. We decided to get up after 20 minutes to pay and leave. Overall: I really liked Nailsense. It's a bit far from where I live, so I'm not likely to return very often. I was looking for a place to get Shellac nails done and behold, I walk into Nail Sense thanks to the amazing reviews by Yelpers. Everywhere I read, I could not get over how clean everyone spoke of this place and I think when it comes to mani/pedis, the cleanliness of a place is KEY. I booked an appointment and a little hesitant on the service I was going to get, but was a woman on a mission to get pretty nails for her big day! It's not really close to the subway station - you can always jump on the ttc and ride along yonge but I decided to walk. Trust me, it is much longer than you think. The interior was very simple, very white. There were two others in there getting their nails and toes done. I wasn't sure what was the best colour for my skin tone so I asked ther ladies for their recommdenaton and at that time there were only two pink shades In shellac but they gave mood reasoning that one colour was more romantic. I really trusted their expertise. While my nails were getting done, 27 dresses, the movie, was being played on their tv. The girl helping me was really nice, her english was not that great, with a very strong view accent. She would chat with her colleague from time to time in Vietnamese and I was hoping she was not talking about me. I was really curious about how to take care of my nails and she was very patient with giving me proper instruction. After just over an hour, I walked out with nails that I was in love with and would stay on for two weeks without chipping or scraping off... Thank goodness. I think it cost about 40 dollars to get the nails done, and I know you can probably get it for a much cheaper price elsewhere with suc stiff competition. But I would definitely go back to this place for their service cleanliness and the many many colours that were stockpiled on the shelves. read more

My French mani took forever and was poorly done, with lots of imperfections. The poor lady knew she had done a bad job and actually apologized. I also had a pedicure done by a different tech, which turned out fine. I liked the modern white decor, but the service brought what should've been a zen experience into 1 star territory. The manager was not particularly pleasant towards me, and he had an strict, condescending attitude towards the techs which I found chilling. I watched as my tech asked him one little question about pricing and he was so rude when responding to her: first ignoring her, then snapping at her. For a second I felt like I was in a 3rd world sweatshop, which is pretty much the last thing I want when I go to a salon. read more

Clean, professional and affordable! Nailsense is a new favourite spot for me! My first impressions of the place: it's sparkling clean - everything is white, so dirt shows up; the air smelled a bit of nail polish and cleaning solution, but it was not as strong as some nail bars I've been to - I chalk that up to a good ventilation system. Also - it's so quiet! At other nail bars I've been to the technicians chatter away (with each other, or with clients) but here they don't make small talk, they just do their work and maybe ask every now and then to make sure you're comfortable. There is instrumental "elevator-style" music playing but it's unobtrusive. On my first visit "Pretty Woman" was playing on the LCD screen facing the pedicure chairs. but it was on mute with subtitles on. I came last week with a friend - she had waxing done, but I was a bit hesitant and wanted to have a look a the place first, so I just had a pedicure. Along one side of the nail bar are the pedicure chairs (I think I counted 8 of them). They have massage features built into them so you can just sit back and relax. I watched them sanitize and clean one of the pedicure sinks after another client and was very impressed and satisfied with how thorough it was. During my pedicure Tien (the owner) swiffered the floor about 4 times. Thi did the pedicure for me and she was wonderfully thorough with taming my cuticles and buffing and shaping my toenails. She meticulously applied China Glaze polish in "Ruby Pumps" for me and even now a week later it looks fantastic. They have a proper nail drying station for hands and feet! My pedicure was only $25 - amazing value! Their mani-pedi's are only $35, but I'm dedicated to the girl that I go to for my gel nails so I passed on the manicure. My friend was pleased with her waxing appointment, and I was satisfied with my pedicure so booked another appointment this week to have waxing done. Thuy did my waxing and she was very kind - she explained what she was doing, which parts would hurt more and less, and gave me tips on aftercare. I was very impressed with the quality of the services and the professionalism here. I will definitely be back. If you are driving, you can find free parking on the residential streets around Yonge Street. If you are taking transit, get off at Lawrence subway station and take the 97 Yonge St. bus south a couple of stops (or walk for about 10 minutes). One little thing - there's a Yelp promotion for 15% off your first visit. Neither my friend or I received it. It was probably an oversight but since the prices here are so affordable we didn't bother to mention it. -------------------- ADDENDUM: October 2010: Not going to write an updated 5 star review on what already is a 5 star review, just adding something :) On my most recent waxing & pedicure visit Thuy told me that the owner (Tien) had phoned in (on his day off) to remind the staff that I was supposed to get a 15% discount today because I didn't get it on my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed because I never mentioned anything when I had phoned to book this recent appointment and it seemed like a very nice goodwill gesture. When I went to pay I realized it wasn't 15% - with her accent I had heard 15, but I was given a much bigger discount than that! I have never heard of any place offering such an amazing customer retention tool and was completely speechless. Of course I still tipped based on the undiscounted price, but I am so impressed with the customer care here that I will definitely be back! I don't want to post the discount % because I don't want people to take advantage of the mistake. Sore also because of cutting No foot rub at all No spray to help dry scratching, jabbing at my cuticles Sore toes Took their time getting around to me No flip flops to wear to walk to the drying location. Keep in mind im a super friendly person whose very understanding. Nothing different or special than any other nail salon. Just double the price I have paid anywhere else. Today at Nailsense.....waxing, manicure, pedicure. With the cold weather hitting the area hard, Shari M. decided to warm up her face, hands and toes with a trip to the s.p.a. The advertised Yelp deal drew her in, but the experience is what made her become a fan. Set in upper midtown along Yonge Street, Nailsense's 'hood is filled with the mighty wealthy in their mighty SUV's. While Shari's Mazda stood out amongst the crowd, Thuy, Kim and Tien made her feel at home. The atmosphere is very clean and modern. Heavy on the clean. The establishment has been open for a few months but appears to have opened just yesterday. Owner, Tien is meticulous. This dedication was first noticed by Shari when she booked her appointment through the suggested Yelp promo way, e-mail. Tien responded very quickly and provided all available times within the suggested days. As Shari M can be impatient, this quick service was greatly appreciated. To get rid of Shari's Movember, unibrow and the hair from her chinny chin chin, Thuy took great care. Thuy made sure the wax was the perfect temperature and she took great detail in shaping the brows. Poor Thuy, she was quite alarmed at how red Shari's face went, even with Shari's assurance that her pale, sensitive skin's sudden redness is normal. Thuy was quite happy after about 20 minutes to see all the red gone. Kim provided the main-pedi. Lovely massage chairs allow clients to sit back and have their troubles and worries unwind from their back and neck. Kim did a great job on the massage and even provided a type of mask for the legs that was heavenly to Shari. Shari was so relaxed, she almost fell asleep. When you talk about variety - Nailsense has it all. They not only carry the traditional OPI (including the new Alice in Wonderland line), but they also carry Essie (Shari's choice for this visit) and China Glaze. There are literally more than a hundred options for your colourful delight. Shari opted for a wild hot pink for her toes, and a more subdued brownish purple for her fingers. As with the pedicure, the manicure was very relaxing. Great hand massage and nail prep. When Shari was ready to leave, her toenails were wrapped and they even placed her socks and shoes on her feet. Shari highly recommends this nail shop. Extremely clean, very friendly and attentive staff, quite reasonable prices, very relaxing, and a huge flat screen tv that they show movies on (no sound, just sub titles - perfect!). I've been religiously going to Nailsense for the past year and absolutely love this place! This place offers nail and waxing services, facials, spa parties, tinting's, and massages. Nailsense is calm, modern, extremely clean, shiny, and has a super- friendly staff that are excellent at what they do and make you feel amazing. Tien, the owner of this place truly cares about his customers and is completely professional. Brazilian wax: ($30)- This is the best place to get a Brazilian wax! I've received my brazilians from both aestheticians at Nailsense (Thuy & Kim) and they both do a quick and extremely thorough job without having you go into very awkward positions. They are gentle and help you get through the entire procedure while offering breaks if you need them. Both aestheticians wear gloves and never double-dip into the wax to ensure cleanliness. I have absolutely no pain tolerance and getting brazilians from here is not that scary since both Kim and Thuy are amazing at what they do and really know how to ease most of the discomfort by using their techniques. Manicure: ($15)- Getting a manicure here is so relaxing. You're placed in front of a huge flat screen TV playing cute movies while your nails are being done. The manicurist opens a new and clean package in front of you that contain the utensils that are used on your nails. Each nail is done with extreme care and precision, the hand massage will make you melt, and the hot scented towel used to wrap your hands feel amazing and help your hands absorb the moisturizer better to make them look soft and supple. I love their nail drying station and the overall results- so pretty! Overall, Nailsense is a great place to get pampered by a caring and friendly staff for a reasonable price. My first experience at Nailsense this weekend! It was my pamper day finale after a morning at the Iyashi Bedrock Spa. It'd been a long time she coming since I don't live in the area, but it's something I would definitely I would make the trip up. I love the new appointment booking online. It's efficient and I can do it from the comfort of my desk at work. The nice clean salon was inviting, and tons of colours (not just OPI) to choose from. Pedicure stations line the wall, with feet soakers and massage chairs. They face a large flat screen, which was playing [insert chick flick here] I got a mani/pedi ($35 - great value! and don't forget to use the yelp promo code when you book online). She did my pedi, and another girl was doing my mani at the same time when I was sitting there. I like the good use of time, but I felt bad she was standing the whole time. There was not one thing I can complain about here. They are friendly, quick and my nails look great. They have a custom designed drying table which I put my digits into. Okay, one thing to complain, that table was too tall for me to read my magazine. The owner also has a program for kids, if they get good grades, they get a free pedicure! WOOOOW. Ok - I won't go into too much detail here but I know a good Brazilian wax when I get one.. LOL! I gotta give props to Thuy - she knows her shiz, and after running across town so many times using Groupon-type vouchers to score what appears to be a "deal" on Brazilian waxes, no amazing price can come in between the trust one has with their waxer. After months of going to Thuy for my brows and other non-female parts, I figured, what the heck, she's pretty much seen it all, I might as well show her my yoohoo too (yay it rhymed!). I won't elaborate here, but I will just say one thing: GET your Brazilian done by Thuy. She uses a great technique - doesn't do majorly big parts all at once, but takes her time, rips it off quick and applies pressure right away to minimize the pain. I swear, this is the first Brazilian I've ever gotten where I didn't have to wipe away any sweat generated by this seemingly tortuous process. I'm sold! I told her, even if she moves to Sarnia, I will drive through snowstorms see her every month. read more

Went here in the summer (July - I believe) because of the reviews here on Yelp. Pros: *Wasn't busy and took my girlfriend and I as walk-ins. *Clean establishment. *Attentiveness *Sterile equipment. What we didn't like: *We were BOTH nipped and bled by our individual assistants whilst they were removing dead tissue from the sides of our toes! Although they apologized profusely, it didn't take the pain away. *We received a 2 minute foot massage that was highly ineffective. *I don't have a calloused and hardened heel, so I don't know why my healthy heel was being scrubbed to death until I said something. *The nail polish was applied in a way that looked like I had already had one weeks growth of nail. I didn't bother saying anything. *After all of that they almost refused to honor the Yelp promo, because I had not emailed ahead on that particular date ( I had already emailed and cancelled two previous bookings). We haven't been back, because there are too many other establishments that give all around better service. Yes they cost more, but I don't mind paying to be pampered. read more
