As I sat and waited in silence for my wax appointment, I was writing one liners in my head on what a crappy place this is. They hardly spoke to me and then they finally saw me once I went to the counter again, 20 minutes after my appointment was meant to begin. Turns out there was a scheduling error, and they were nice about it... I was still pissed. Then the tides shifted. I got my arms fully waxed in under six minutes and it was under $30. Okay. So even after my first review, I've come here a few more times. Merely because of convenience. I'm a sucker for a manicure. Usually it's been okay and met my standards. But most recently, Kim, did my opi gel manicure and it was pretty great. I haven't had this precise of a polish application in a long while. I'm not super picky when it comes to manicures because it'll only be on my nails for a few weeks and I don't have the energy to be super nip-picky but I was so pleasantly surprised by the manicure quality. I was a walkin on a Saturday, so I did have to wait a little bit but I wasn't in a rush so that was fine. Definitely want Kim to do my nails again though! read more

Best brazilian I have experienced in Toronto. I was able to secure a last minute appointment on a Friday afternoon - that alone was almost next to impossible downtown. My aesthetician (I believe she was also the owner) was skillful and funny. I felt like I just had the shortest (in time, of course), and cleanest brazilian ever. Ladies, you know that bwax will not be painless, but I promise you Buffer will keep the unpleasantness to the very minimal and you will not dread your next appointment. ~$50 after tip for a wax. This salon desperately needs someone to answer phones and deal with customers at the desk. It's annoying when the person doing your mani stops 10 times to take appointments. I've seen people walk out because they were ignored waiting at the front desk for assistance. Strange vibe in here too. Some techs are friendly and others are rude. I received the worst shellac manicure of my entire life here. Everything about the experience was horrible. - I've never had a shellac mani/pedi take over 2 hours. The tech had to stop to keep taking calls and check the schedule. - I was sitting in the chair as she was soaking acetone onto cotton balls for shellac removal right above me, barely getting any on the cotton ball and spilling all the acetone over my bare legs!! A lot of it. - She was surprised how long the shellac removal was taking yet the cotton balls were barely soaked in acetone - of course it's not coming off. - Shellac application itself was uneven, and chipped off the very next day (I can usually go 1-2 weeks before chipping). It seems a lot of people like this place as it was clear a lot of people there were regulars and happy. I'm assuming in my case it was just the tech who did mine. But the place itself looks dirty and unsanitary. And my nails, especially the skin under my nails, felt horrible, painful and swollen after my time here (which I don't get leaving other places). Went once and I'm never going back. Waste of money and time. read more

I came in for a pedi on a tuesday. Iryna (very nice and outgoing!) attended to me right away, asking me if I could wait or come back in 30mins. The place is very clean! The prices are reasonable (not too cheap not too expensive). My pedi took 1hr 15mins which I personally like. It shows me that they take their time. I appreciate it. Everything was almost perfect (the massage, scrubbing of the dead skin, polishing). The one thing I didnt like: I asked the technician to cut my ingrown toe nails. Twice or even three times, since that's the main reason I came. She reassured me she did it (with an attitude, which I am sorry I have to write). When I came home I saw it's still stuck and hurts. That's the reason for 4 stars. read more

I had a great experience here! I was able to book my pedicure the day of on a Friday afternoon, which is pretty rare in the summer time in this city. The space is clean and inviting, and the staff are all very, very nice and instantly put you at ease. My pedicure was great and all of the instruments came out of a sealed autoclave bag. The rewards card that they punch with each visit is a nice touch, too. I will definitely return. read more

I went to Buffer Nails and Waxing for the first time yesterday. I had a brazilian wax. Their price is cheaper than most other places. The place is clean and easy to get to. They don't offer tea like most waxing places or have televisions in their rooms but those are not selling points for me. I believe it was Iryna who waxed me. That lady was QUICK. I was out in 11 minutes! Speed is not important to me and I actually don't mind spending a good amount of time being waxed. I like when the waxer takes her time and is attentive to my vagina, but if you don't then I recommend going here. I also like that they give you a little stamp card. Once you get ten services done, the 11th is free! This is definitely good for individuals who get waxed or have their nails done regularly. read more

I've been going to buffer since September when I moved to the neighbourhood and I quickly fell in love with the staff, services and prices. Can't speak highly enough of this place and the high standards they have for cleanliness, quality of services and taking the time to get to know you as a client. I look forward to my frequent visits and have tried everything from waxing (Iryna is amazing- 5 min Brazilian waxes and an expert at eyebrows) manicures/ pedicures and nail art (Kim is a perfectionist and can pull off any picture that I show her) eyelashes (Kay is fast and my lashes have never looked so lovely). Run down place. Staff are hit or miss. No one at reception desk when I came in was addressed by a manicurist doing a shellac treatment and told to have a seat. Booked a $45 mani pedi but got charged for a full pedi and a mini mani which was $67. Feel like they did a bait and switch as they should know what services the client has booked. Poor value for price point charged. Amenities are poor. You're asked to sit in an industrial high chair stand and they bring out a bowl to soak your feet. There are other options in the hood with cleaner facilities and better amenities at around the same price point. Manicure and pedicure were ok. They have one person do the mani while the other is doing the pedi and it still took 1.5 hours to get done. read more

Buffer is my new place! Highly recommended. A very clean and professional operation. The owner, Iryina, is personality plus...you have to love her enthusiasm for her work and friendliness--very welcoming! I had the best pedicure of my life here. They do them old-school style with a stainless steel bowl, and not those germ infested whirlpool foot baths that the Health Dept. is cracking down on. No razors/scalpels either. She also did a beautiful job on my brows. A friend and I arrived late for our appointments one evening, and they were still so nice to us, didn't make us feel bad and never rushed. Three weeks later and my toes still look like new--zero chips. Buffer's prices are very reasonable for what they provide. Looking forward to going back soon! read more

Great if you can get Iryna - she is fast and efficient and gives one of the best pedicures in Toronto - but the new girls she hired over the winter are awful- I left one time literally bleeding and the polish was put on so sloppily my husband noticed!
