I got my nails done by Amy, who was so patient through the entire process. I was nervous bc it was a birthday set so Ofc I wanted it to be perfect, and Amy came through she made sure I liked the colour, length, shape and design. It was so easy to have a conversation with her as well because I like to interact with my nail tech, as some sets can take longer than the others. I was VERY happy with the way my nails came out, and with how Amy handled my nails with such good care. Came in for a regular manicure. For the price (18$), I guess I can't expect a really good manicure, however the manicure wasn't even decently done. The girl who worked on my nails, was very nice but did not do a good job. She did not prep my nails properly (didn't file them, didn't dip them in the fluid for a long enough period of time), it hurt when she cut my cuticles. I did like that they tried the nail colour on one nail then asked if i liked the colour and let me switch to another one. The manicure seemed rushed and disorganized, there were two different girls switching in between working on other clients to work on my nails. The nail polish was not adequately applied near the end of my nail (it is bumpy around the cuticle area). Another girl came and put on a glossy top coat very quick (it didn't cover the whole nail and there was a space at the end of my nails without any glossy top coat). This salon is great. They were very accommodating for a last minute appointment on a busy night, and the technician was very honest about my colour choice for shellac (that some colours wouldn't turn out as pink/purple as the fake nail swatches). Even when I picked a seemingly pastel green, after 2 coats she (and I, both) agreed it was an awful green and she was so patient and removed it and started again (even though this put them past closing time). She did a great job too. Would recommend. Just wish they had more colour choices for shellac! read more

Update: The owner of the salon Vicky was nice enough to reach out it attempt to amend the situation. I'll start off by saying that I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to my nails. I like to get just a shellac manicure every few weeks. Dream Tips is very close to my house so I've gone a few times. The first time my nails started to peel not even a week after I had gotten them done. I decided to give them another chance as it could have been a one off thing. This time, just half an hour ago, was the worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done. I chose a colour from their limited selection (I wanted yellow, they didn't have it so I picked a nude colour) and as the lady was putting it on and had already done a few coats I noticed it was extremely patchy, bubble, and streaky. She continued to try to cover it up by more coats but it looked terrible. I said something and she made me pick a different colour (pink) and began to redo them. She began to redo the nails and at the end of it I looked at the nails and it was still so wonky, streaky, and patchy. I said something again and she said she would add another coat but as she had already done three coats I knew it wouldn't fix anything. At this point I had been there for an hour and a half. Shellac never takes more than half an hour, and I did not have time for her to try a third time to fix the nails nor did she offer to redo them. As I was paying I was quite expressive of how unhappy I was and how (literally so bad) my nails looked. At the end of this experience I still had to pay the full price for a terrible service. I'm more self conscious of my nails now than I was before getting them done. Now I have a colour I really didn't want and wonky, discoloured, bubbling, and patchy nails. Staff are really friendly, it's well priced, and they nearly always have enough staff that walk-ins are taken quickly. They always do a good job, but today Ayumi did a fabulous job on my nail art. Well, sadly I'm updating my review today and moving the stars to 1 and unfortunately that's as low as I can go in yelp. The last couple of years I've enjoyed the staff and the service...but i must say that the last 6 months the service other than one lady Susan has gone downhill rapidly and slowly I've been moving my services elsewhere . Surprised why the owner hasn't asked me why i don't get manicures, facials, waxing or any of the other regular service I always get here anymore My last set of Gel Nails chipped, broke and fell off within 4 days. They no longer give you a nice hand massage or neck massage after your manicure. The tools are not cleaned and the worst item was I was sitting in the pedicure chair and saw a rat climb in from the basement and proceeded to climb the stairs to the second floor where you get waxing and facials. The staff did nothing even though another customer told them what just happened. Their solution was to open the fire escape door (as if the rat would leave!) So sadly I will not return here as this bothers me that rats are in the store. Sorry Vicky - but you have some issues here you need to fix. read more

My new go to nail salon! Greeted as soon as I walked in. Made an appointment and was attended to right away. Got acrylic full set for $36, I paid in cash. My nail technician was very meticulous in her work. She made sure the length matched on both hands and took her time. She was very considerate in letting me know the polish I selected would be $3 extra (long lasting polish) and showed me the regular polish section, asked me if I wanted to pay before she applied the polish so it wouldn't smudge, and carried my things over to the drying station. My eyelash extensions look good but she rushed through them - a few hours later a few of them had already started falling out. The manicure and pedicure were even more rushed, and they made my fingers bleed cutting the cuticle much too close. The paint jobs themselves were smudged, partly because the nail polish itself was old and gooey. The whole place is generally dirty and the equipment is in horrible shape - the massage chairs no longer work and the nail dryers barely blow out any air. I was on Queen St W looking for a salon to get a pedi. But everywhere I went, they were full and I found this place on Yelp which was on my way home. They had good reviews so I called up and they had a spot for me. As soon as I came in, I saw a couple of people getting their nails done and a girl lying/sitting on one of the pedi massage chairs on her phone. She had a mask on so I knew she had to work here. I secretly hoped that I wouldn't get her but knew I had a high chance of getting her as my aesthetician. So I sat in the massage chair as she sat in front of me with a big sigh. Her movements, behavior, gave me a sense that she did not want to work. At all. I told her I have ingrown problems so asked if she can take care of it. She nodded. With a sigh. As she worked on my toes, she was rushing through everything, and she didn't do anything about my ingrowns so i ask again and with so much attitude she said she cut it. She didn't. She called another lady over and asked her to deal with it and this lady wasn't any better. She kept asking what I wanted. After this happened, my aesthetician started to handle my toes more roughly and even hurt me. She didn't apologize. It hurt and felt so mistreated that I almost cried. Moving on to removing deadskins off my heels, this girl was so rough my heel was sore. I was like my heel hurts, and this same other lady says so do you want it more smooth then? There were more episodes but this review is already too long so I'm stopping here. I give two stars because another guy ended up painting my toes and he was way way nicer and patient. I wandered into Dream Tips today while searching for a new pedicure spot and am so glad I did. My previously not-so-gorgeous feet feel soft and smooth and my polish looks perfect. The salon is spotlessly clean which is very important to me, and they have a great selection of polish and shellac colours. For $25, Shirley cleaned up my cuticles, filed my nails, pumiced off my (embarrassingly bad) callouses, exfoliated my legs and feet, gave the BEST leg and foot massage with cream and polished me up. As an extra bonus, she gave me a shoulder, back and arm massage while my toes were drying. It was a great experience and far more relaxing than your usual cheap pedicure place. They can get really busy during peak hours which makes it really chaotic but it's worth the wait. Called them a couple of hours earlier to check that they were open since it's Easter Sunday, and they were very nice on the phone. Came in and was immediately greeted by staff. This salons high railings are solely based on foot traffic (it's on Yonge st at Wellesley) and for their inexpensive eyelash services that start out at $55. It's not for nails. SANITARY PRACTICES: If your nails are lifting at the cuticles, they won't file away those pieces, which is essential as fungus can form underneath that air pocket. Why don't they know that? Also, all salons are supposed to adhere to the practice of providing a new file and buffer for each customer; They do not. Question: What were you filing prior to using it on my hand? They reuse their tools and drill heads and to be honest, it's just not that sanitary. They also use dated pedicure chairs that have the old drainage system. I can only imagine what's behind that drain. PRICING: For an acrylic set or refill- because UV Gel is an actual gel substance and not powder in a heart-shaped glass container labeled "gel"- is way too expensive. They tack on all kinds of $5 fees and tell you about it AFTER. Yes, nail length is a factor, so is a nail cut down so regardless, you'll have to pay extra. Don't be fooled. They do not use Gel on your nails. It's an acrylic set with a UV gel top coat. Also, they push shellac polish on you when you have tips on. Their selling point is that it lasts longer. News flash, regular nail polish already lasts long on tips. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I mean most know what to expect when you walk into a nail salon. Coming from a business meeting, shopping in Yorkville or a gala? You're welcomed with open arms. Coming from the gym, running errands or just escaped your kids for a few hours? They barely look up and assign the most incapable person to your services. If they think you won't tip or aren't in a position of power you'll be given subpar treatment from the moment you walk in. If you object to anything unsatisfactory, staff members run over and huddle over your station trying to convince you that you're request is too elaborate or that you're seeing things. If you dispute the final cost (because you know, simple addition and subtraction isn't hard) it becomes an all out gang war where staff, even the ones who didn't acknowledge you the entire time you were there, get involved. Everyone stops and stares at you (including the customers) and you are shamed for wanting a clear explanation and then into paying. As customers, we really need to stop encouraging this kind of behaviour by dismissing it or justifying it with eye rolls and the look of disdain as if you aren't (or won't be) affected by this when you go to pay and they whip out the calculator and start going to town on the buttons. I saw a woman become visibly and audibly upset with the quality of her work and as I looked around all of the customers smiled at their techs as if the treatment she received was somehow her fault and not the technicians or that she was overreacting. I know it may be hard to speak up when you witness these things but don't justify it. CONCLUSION: If you prefer a smooth transaction and don't want your nails looking bumpy, lumpy, uneven, dents in the middle or jagged edges where your nails are growing. Prominent fill lines, uneven nail lengths, cuticle damage and don't like the feeling of being swindled or lied to as they explain their pricing. Stay away. One of the better nail spas in downtown Toronto for sure. I went in for an impromptu shellac pedicure and was delightfully surprised with the most attentive service I have ever received. I was serviced by Shirley I believe and she was very kind and sweet. The pedicure was great, especially the leg massage which was extremely relaxing. They really value their customers and by far the biggest and most appreciated surprise was the neck and back hand massage at the end of my pedicure. I came in today after my friend recommended this salon to get my acrylics removed and replaced with a new set but changed my mind after seeing how the nail technician was prying them off with a fake nail! I asked if there was another way to remove them and she said no and continued to painfully remove them. One of my nails actually tore and my skin was visible! I ended up asking for a manicure to try to make my nails look somewhat decent. She did not shape them at all, she just cut my cuticles and put a top coat on my damaged nails. It did not look like I had a manicure at all so when I went to pay I just said I got my acrylics removed and they charged me for the manicure as well and my friend was surprised as well.
