    Such a great deal for such a big delicious Burek. I had Burek at Selo in Astoria and wanted to try more. I got this spinach one from here and it was delicious but I think I want to try the cheese one next time. The pastry was flaky and I absolutely tasted the spinach which I enjoyed. My partner for baklava, which he said was one of the best he's ever had. I just want to try their cheese Burek and other dishes to see if i could feel the butteriness of the Burek... The service was efficient and good!! It is a small restaurant with very Eastern European aesthetic to it. I liked how it's felt like I wasn't in Astoria anymore and was enjoying authentic food.

It had a spongy/rubbery texture after it cooled a little. Traditional Yogurt Drink: 5/5 It had that delicious tang of an authentic balkan yogurt drink. Tres Leches: 5/5 One of the best I've had. Tumble: others said it was good I can't judge this one because I'm not a fan of these in general. For those of you who are unfamiliar, imagine a sugar-syrup-coated mini churro. They sometimes run out of spinach burek so make sure to go early if that's what you're looking for. Service was slow but it was lunch on a Saturday so it's understandable.

    This is it for me!! I have been coming here 20plus years, probably recommended this place to all people i know all those years. I had mentioned about my opinions about meat burek, now they put so many onions in meat burek, now there is more onions than the meat. Last of all, i have never been charged service charge until now. Mind you i leave my tip very generously. Today i got my check. I am looking at the total, doesn't add up!! Calculated 3 times, then lastly, i saw gratuity added. Am i eating at an upscale restaurant that i don't know?!! Also, if the service fee added, you have to notify the customer, because the credit card slip has tip line as well. So whoever didn't see that, leaving tip as well?? I am moving on and looking other Bosnian places around.

    Burek. GOOD. Never eaten at this Restaurant founded by BOSNIAN immigrants but I've had their Burek before. Purchased their Burek a number of times at EUROLAND in DEERFIELD BEACH in the refrigerated section. I'm sure fresh Burek tastes better than a frozen item but it still tastes GOOD nonetheless. RECOMMEND.

    So so so good. Would def come back for the savory treats! We sampled the spinach, cheese, and meat slices with 3 assorted sweets. I prefer savory over sweet, so def loved the slices. The spinach was my fav. I wanted to try the potato roll but she said all the rolls would take at least 20min to bake, so we were relegated to slices they already had made. That was a bummer. The sweets were good but just not as amazing as the slices. The mini churro thing was actually not very good, tasted almost stale? The tres leches was fine, but the chocolate layer cake thing was my fav. Again though, the savory dishes are where it's at. Def give it a try, wow. They also have a backyard of you want fresh air. Def going again!

    Burek is an item that is a crowd pleaser across the board and Djerdan delivers on excellent burek and other Balkan staples. I give the burek, especially the spinach, a 10/10. Flaky, flavorful, and filling...this is as good as it gets. The meat and cheese burek are also solid A options and it's worth ordering as many varieties as you can if you're not rolling solo so bring a friend and two and get in on as much goodness as you can. The cevapi and other meat options here are good, but not great so stick to the item that is in the name of the establishment and be wowed with burek perfection! They also have several desserts and all are worth trying!

    The last time I had Balkan food (specifically Bosnian) was 2 years ago - crazy that these types of food are so underrepresented! My friend and I came here to satisfy a specific craving - the pljeskavica, one item that we reminisced enjoying when we traveled to Dubai's Global Village. This day, we ordered a bunch of food to share, some Bosnian, some Serbian, but regardless almost all of which originated from the Balkans: the spinach burek slice, teleca supa (traditional veal soup), cevapi (full order of 10pc), pljeskavica, and desserts (tulumba, cupavac, and tre lece). The spinach burek slice is a gigantic slice for $6.50 - they gave 2 plates and I was like ??? we ordered only one slice but they mentioned they cut the slice in half! The texture is pastry-like, with the spinach filling carrying most of the flavor as they don't really add butter to the pastry. The cevapi, one of the most popular dishes, is excellent. 10 pieces of beef kabobs nicely marinated, served with traditional pepper sauce (Avjar) and onions, in a pita bread. The pljeskavica is similarly served, except it is a beef patty. Both are excellent, where the cevapi carried slightly more flavor and easier to split if you want to share, while the pljeskavica was much more juicy and easier to consume. The teleca supa (traditional veal soup) is nice but did not really stand out much compared to the cevapi and pljeskavica. In terms of desserts, the price fooled us! A dessert ranges from $2 - $4, but they are gigantic. We thought they are just tiny pieces to try but we ended up having a lot of leftovers, which is a good thing. The tulumba is a fried dough soaked in syrup, and it is a light syrup so it was not too sweet, my favorite level of sweetness. The cupavac, recommended by the waitress, is excellent too. It has a little bit of liquid soaked in, with the coconut bringing forth the flavor. You can think of it as a slightly wet lamington cake. The tre lece is a variant of tres leches cake, which I am always a fan of, and they did it quite well. Service is excellent - plates were taken out and placed accordingly, and we are never short of utensils as each dish is served with its own serving utensils / eating utensils. This is despite the fact that we opted to sit in the patio, away from the hustle and bustle inside. The only downsides I can think of are the water is water bottle and so it is not free ($2.50 each, yikes) and they tack on a 20% mandatory gratuity, but that does not make this experience any less, especially since the final bill after all the food is still under $40 per person, a rough baseline of how much a nice dine-in meal in NYC costs these days.

    I love this place so much. This is the best burek in the city hands down. This is my burek. There are few others around like it, but this burek is mine. Large slices of crispy flaky filoh and feta cheese. Amazing. The lady behind the counter is sweet and is a pastry master. No frills inside. Just go in and get your burek fix!

We were a party of 7 and we walked in on a Sunday dinner, and there was no wait. There was a wedding nearby in the restaurant, so it was a bit loud, but it was a good vibe. We ordered a bunch of dishes, such as the Platou Taranesc, Salata Bouef, Pomana Porcului, Pastrama, Mititei, Sarmale, Papanasi, and Coltunasi Platou Taranesc - country plate, basically bread and cold cut, Romanian style. It was a good experience but something I would normally not go out of my way for, since I don't like cold cut. But it is worth trying since Romanian food has a lot of cured meats and such, so the variety here is apparent Salata Bouef - bouef salad. Not beef salad. It is like a potato salad with chicken and veggies. Fairly hearty despite looking like small portions Pomana Porcului - traditional style pork fried meat - does not look fried, but it is a bit cured. A bit tough, maybe that's how they prepare it, but nonetheless flavorful. Pastrama - lamb pastrami - also a bit tough but cured. I liked the flavors but definitely need to eat it like a fork and knife style, not one bite Mititei - Romanian skinless sausages - kind of like a kofta (ground beef) and I loved this meat dish the most Sarmale - stuffed cabbage roll - one of the best cabbage rolls I have tried. Manageable size for each roll, and the cabbage has just the right amount of softness and the filling is super flavorful. Would recommend this 100% Papanasi - Romanian donuts - they say 2 pieces but the pieces are huge and sweet and hearty. A great way to conclude the meal, and enough to feed 4+ people after a nice meal Coltunasi - dumplings - we got beef. These are good but did not stand out. A nice starter Service was amazing and deserving of the auto 20% gratuity. The only miss is the water refills are not as frequent but the server gave us some sides on the house and gave us amazing recommendations of what to try for food for the first time and brought out everything we needed to enjoy the meal.

It all gets eaten with bread and that's the problem - same as I have at Italian or Mediterranean places - by the time the main dish comes out, I am almost stuffed! Since the weather has been super dope, we were able to sit outside which is always a nice treat. Our waitress was sweet, attentive and patient with us, she let us enjoy ourselves well past the meal. The only few things I'll comment on are: there were only 3 stuffed cabbage pieces vs what I truly thought were 4. I had only 2 at the restaurant and took the other 2 for leftovers the following day. When I went to have them, I realized the "4th one" was actually just cabbage with no meat, and it had been made to look like it was another piece (!!) on purpose or not, I don't know but that kind of possible "false advertisement" made me a little disappointed. You can clearly see what I mean from the photo, IMO. The bread also could have been a bit better, but IDK, maybe I'm a bread snob nowadays and since I have it rarely, I want to thoroughly enjoy it. They also add the tip automatically on your bill, while listing the breakdown of % tip for ease / convenience at the bottom for you (again - !!!) so while the tip was deserved and I ALWAYS do so, the automatic add-on still just grids my gears. The menu said that all entrees include a side though we were advised that was wrong and the dessert was crepe with jam or nutella (we weren't given an option). We ordered: Appetizer: Eggplant Spread and Meatballs - go with the eggplant spread ('m normally don't eat eggplant and it was delicious). We both ordered the chicken soup. It had carrots and chicken. Entree: Stuffed Pepper and Pork Stew. The stuffed pepper was great. I engender the pork stew had more flavor when I ate it in Romanian (you decide). Dessert: it was crepe with jam. If you get a curve, go try it.

    I went to this restaurant with a group a good while back, as can be seen from Andie's old review…read more This is one of two Czech restaurants in the city, along with Bohemian Spirit, located in the Bohemian National Hall, and the food here reminded me much more closely of what I had in the Czech Republic, or rather, now, Czechia. The inside looks and feels like a tavern, and there was the typical no-nonsense staff you find in Central and Southern European restaurants. They have a very reasonably priced beer menu, especially on tap, and I got a BrouCzech Dark for $7 for half a liter, with a 1/3 liter option for $5, with the other tap options being the pilsners Czechvar and the more standard Urquel. They gave us some free bread to start, before our very heavy shared meal. The first thing to arrive was the Boiled Perogies, consisting of 12 pieces for $25, topped with bacon and sour cream. I usually slightly prefer the fried version, but these were very tasty. It wasn't super doughy compared to most spots, and it had a nice filling. As per usual, the dumplings, which were a bit rich, were balanced by the sour cream. In short, I preferred these over the boiled pierogi from Karczma, among other spots. While we were eating, another smaller plate arrived, the Broiled Klobasa for $13, served with horseradish sauce. I am very particular about sausage quality, as my old hometown has a butcher shop that makes 25/30 homemade products, including many sausages, and this was very tasty. The klobasa had a good smoky flavor and had a good snap. The horseradish, mustard, and pickles on the side helped with the richness. I would recommend this also. For most people, their favorite dish of the evening was the Halusky for $27, or potatoes spaetzle with sheep cheese, topped with bacon. As per the other dishes, the portion size was very generous. The spaetzle had a good texture, and the dish was quite rich, creamy, and salty from the cheese and bacon. This version was comparable, if not better than, the excellent versions at the various Eastern European spots in Manhattan, and I would recommend this as well. Our least favorite dish by a lot was the Pork Schnitzel for $28, made with a potato pancake batter and topped with cheese. This came with a salad and a side item of our choice. The salad was very plain but fresh, with some potatoes and pickled vegetables on the side. The schnitzel lacked a bit of flavor and salt compared to the other dishes. This was the only miss of the evening, but it was still decent as the chicken had a nice breading. Next time, I would probably try their Svíčková, or in other words, beef and cream sauce, to compare it to Spirit and other dishes, such as the roast duck, if it's hopefully available as one of the specials. This was an above-average spot serving a less common cuisine, and I would recommend it.

Regardless, nothing is good enough for me to come back regularly.
