Have been coming here for about a year now but I will be going elsewhere. I have natural nails, Kim has been my nail tech and I'm tired of reminding her to paint my outer edges. I'm paying for a nail polish, which includes my WHOLE nail. She continues to leave my nails looking tacky & unprofessional by leaving parts unpainted. Idk if she's rushing or just doesn't care, but I will not keep spending money with someone I have to remind to paint my whole nail. And now I have another one broke all within less than a week. This place is a horrible place to get your nails done are used to get them done there and they were good. Opening just last September (2011), this is a fairly new salon in the area. And compared to the other salons around it seems to distinguish itself more so in terms of amenities and quality. All of the facilities and equipment are nice. The color selection is vast. And the service is great. I haven't seen any extreme crowds in here yet. It is quiet and serene. The clientele seems to be quiet & serene as well. No loud characters. No bad children. I had an extremely relaxing experience from my massage chair to my manicure. I would definitely come here again and suggest this place to anyone looking for a good nail salon. But it doesn't get 5 stars, at least not from me, because the lady working on me--though extremely personable and nice--lacked the talent and skill of the manicurists that I've grown accustomed to back home. While cutting my cuticles off, she made at least 3 of my fingers bleed. And I had whole side areas of my toes and nails left unpainted. My eyebrows had no real shape but she did keep them thick like I asked. Now understand, these are little things. To the untrained eye, no one will know the difference. My boyfriend and family kept talking about how nice my nails and toes were all weekend. I'm not from Louisville but I've visited often because my whole family lives there. And in terms of comparison, this shop is better than the others in the area. A lot of the problems I had were related to my actual person and not the shop because my moms nails, toes, and eyebrows came out perfect! read more

I've been going to this establish for years and they just get worse and worse! The employees are just as trash as the clientele! The owner does what she wants to when she feels like it on your nails and then wants to charge more than what the ticket should be! Rush jobs when they are behind and have appointments, but don't take the time to let customers know that they have someone else before servicing a client!!!! Amazing and friendly people and best nails ever. Hombre French Baby boomer. They can do that. Colored acrylics. They can do that. The pedi, best ever. I wear steel toe work boots 12-14 hrs so my feet and toes get rough. Not scared to get in there and dig those ingrowns out. read more

I was very disappointed. I was having nails done for a special occasion and they "laquered" them. I didn't want to complain so I paid. When I got home I cried. It looked like I was two week overdue for a fill-in and the nail was so thick. The reason I gave two stars is because Tina filed them from top down and made them look thinner. She also did a fill in, just three days later at no charge. I will never go back. read more

Today was my first and last visit to Dixie Nails. I went for a pedicure and a gel manicure. The person who helped me was totally rushed and very rough. She cut two of my toes with the buffer, as she was not paying attention to what she was doing.She then put hand sanitizer on a sponge and cleaned my legs and feet. The stinging from my recently cut toes was almost unbearable. She only put one coat of color on my toes. When she got to the manicure, surprise, my finger was cut when trimming my cuticles back. She made no apologies for any of this. The color is all over my fingers. You can still see the bubbles and brush strokes where she did not let the Polish level out before curing it. If you are looking for pampering and not torturing, I would not recommend Dixie Nails and Spa. read more

Save yourself: your dignity, your money and your nails. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place is a house of horrors. This place ruined my nails. I know that they will grow out, but for the last three months, they have been paper thin, achy, and bending backwards into the quick frequently as a result. They scalded my feet and legs during the pedicure, burning me bad enough that it left marks and hurt two days later. When it happened the guy mocked me by fake crying then LAUGHED about it. He did the same thing when he cut a chunk out of me with the nippers then proceeded to file it down- taking the top layer of skin with it. Fast forward two days- TWO DAYS- and my french manicure was a shambles. The gel polish (which normally lasts two weeks) had already cracked on three nails and was coming off of one- which caused it to split all the way down the middle (which was very painful). When I went back and showed it to them, they tried to have the same guy fix it (who, while using a "baby voice" mocked me AGAIN by saying "awww poor baby, did your nail break? hooo hoooo hoooo. Hahahaha". I refused to let that guy touch me again and I was absolutely furious at this point. Another guy had to put acrylic on my nail to keep it from bleeding and the whole nail from coming off. I probably should have gone to the doctor. Luckily, it didn't get infected. This is the end of January. This happened before Thanksgiving and my nails are still damaged and thin (probably another 6 weeks before it's all grown out). Save yourself. Go to another salon. read more

Horrible experience. I just got my nails done here. Doesn't even deserve one star. By far the worst place I have ever been. It smelled like piss. As if that wasn't bad enough, my nails look horrendous. My two year old son could have done a better job. When I pointed out to the girl who did my nails that the color was uneven she argued with me. . And then had an attitude when I asked her to fix it. My nails weren't even filed evenly. The worst manicure I have had in a very long time. I went in yesterday to get a manicure, I told the nail tech I had told her that I had old dip on my nails and wanted to get just regular shellac. She said ok and proceeded. Not to mention I was the ONLY one there and it took two hours! So she gets to trimming the extra skin and such around my nails. She snipped too much off of my pinky and it started to bleed. With my high pain tolerance I didn't think anything of it. Once she began to paint my nails, I thought something wasn't right because the polish didn't smell like regular polish. I was already at the two hour mark and was ready to go home after a long day at school so I blew it off. She ended up putting lacquer on my nails! So this morning, I get up and my pinky where she took off that skin. It was red around the edges with yellowish tissue exposed to the air. I talk to a friend of mine who works as a nurse. She said more than likely infection has set in due to the tech using dirty tools! I am beyond upset. As a person being a full time student and not having any income coming in, I expect to get my money's worth. I will never sort foot in that salon again. read more
