They were super friendly and got to work on my nails right away. The salon is bright and very clean. I loved hearing the different languages being spoken by the staff. It's not every day that you hear two nail techs speaking in Spanish to their customers and teaching them their language. The tech taking care of me did an excellent job on my nails. I have been going to Highland Nails for years and has been my very favorite nail salon. I drive 30 minutes to go but worth it until this past visit. I requested French tip nails with gel on Sunday. On Wednesday, three days later, 3 gel nails chipped and popped off. Not sure if the gel was bad or application was bad. Anyway, I went on Thursday and asked to have them redone because 3 had already come off. The owner said no, they could not do that unless I paid to have them redone. He said they could fix the THREE that had come off in three days. I asked what if more chipped off and he said to come back if they did. I absolutely was not going to drive 30 minutes one way to get MORE nails fixed. I was not looking for anything free, I felt a redo was a fair ask when I had already driven there 2 times that week (2 hour total drive time for me) The holidays are coming and I wanted my nails to look nice like they always have when I go. They were not apologetic or cared at all. I requested they removed the 7 that were left. (Also, they were not busy at all) They did while they talked with each other and laughed in a language I did not understand. They were rude. Unfortunately, I will never return. I've been visiting here for over a year and I'm always happy with their customer service and there quality of work. I always get a deluxe pedicure $45 and they always grant me why weird little requests with a smile. They just recently remodeled everything as well as new pedicure chairs and it looks fantastic. Randomly through the year I've visited different places just to try different experiences and I always end up regretting it. I walked into the salon across Bardstown Road. Only one employee who asked me to come back in 75 minutes. Went to Highland Nails instead. There were 8 technicians! It was wonderful right until the end. :( Darn roaches So the wait time is pretty long and the seats are so close together i felt more comfortable sitting outside... don't do that. Anywho, once I came in I was promptly seated at the bowl for a pedicure. I had a wait but a lady was kind enough to add more hot water to the bowl. The pedicure was very gentle and my toes are beautiful. I go to dry my feet and when I pull them out there is this huge roach laying across my foot. How did I not feel it if it was so big? Your guess is as good as mine. I kicked it off and it flew into one of the pedicure bowls, told one of the nail techs who didn't seem the least bit phased so I went up to the manager who blamed it on Jimmy John's being next door. So don't expect any resolution any time soon. My spa day is ruined and I have to undo all my tech's hard work because now I need to shower. So disgusted and disappointed. read more

So, I went yesterday for my first time ever at this nail salon! I came in around 4:30 p and they closed at 6p. Everyone seemed really sweet and kind and they did get me in within about 15 minutes of waiting as they were busy. The girl got me seated, was on her phone a lot and didn't even ask if I wanted my nails cut down or a different shape. She was really rough and apologized 3+ times because her tools kept scraping against my skin which ended up cutting my finger. I came here with my friend after Bardstown Nails told us they had an hour wait and I don't regret it! The nail technicians are very friendly. They greeted us right when we walked in the door. I personally had Tiffany work on my nails. I got a full set (acrylics) and I was shocked by how cheap they were compared to other salons. Only $27 + an extra $5 for requesting coffin shape. Tiffany worked on my nails with precision and made sure everything looked perfect... no bumps in the road. Over one week later and my nails still look perfect (just a little grown out of course). So I wanted to wait a week or so before reviewing to see how my nails kept. I decided to get my hands dipped and a basic pedicure for my feet. I loved the colors and the lady. This was my first time getting a dip nail and it is sooo much better than gel nails. As I have been traveling and on a cruise for the past week, my nails have been amazing and the purple shows up in most of my photos. I would recommend them because the salon is very well kept, they have a large selection and fairly priced. I will definitely be back and if you go, the chairs for your pedicure are amazing to massage your back. Andy and the team at Highland Nails on Baxter Avenue are amazing. I moved to the area from out of state and tried at least four other nail salons before stumbling upon this gem! The staff are polite, courteous and exceptionally skilled. I've been going here for over a year for my nails and pedicures and they never disappoint. It's very clean, beautiful aesthetic and a relaxing vibe. I constantly get compliments on my nails and they have a really great selection of colors. Please do better with sanitation and cleanliness. This used to be my go-to salon but things have changed in recent months. I'm so disappointed that I have been dealing with foot fungus and athletes feet since my pedicure just 3 weeks ago. I have never had this problem before in my life and my doctor has confirmed it. What started as a mild irritation just 3 days after my visit has turned into full blown athletes feet and pain on both of my feet from a pedicure I got 3 weeks ago. I question the cleanliness of this place. The racks of polish were messy, the tables were dusty and the chair at the nail station had dried polish all over it. Also some of their smocks they wore were stained. The mani/pedi was ok, but I couldn't get past the feeling of being in a dirty place. I Start to go there regularly and girls are doing great job with the nails. I just show the picture and they are doing their best! But last time I went I didn't wanted to wait, it was going to be one color so I didn't care who doing it. I think their owner or manager he take me and I showed which shape I want and which color. He was keep talking with the costumers and keep answering the phone. I wanted to do full nail set but he rushed so much he even didn't do right and all my nails were looking different directions. If you're going there definitely ask for the girls but I don't think I'll go there again. I ended up paying 61 $ like why I charged 61$ ?? I am not someone who normally complains but I am so upset at the lack of care this place showed me today. All I needed was my acrylic nails taken off. I waited 45 minutes (not even why I'm upset) and when they finally helped me, the man made me soak my nails. I sat there soaking for 30 minutes. No one was helping me and my nails were all completely off. I finally waived down one worker and she told me to go wash my hands. I did and came back. NO HELP FOR 15 MINUTES. I finally got fed up and went up to the man and asked if someone was going to help me and he said my nails looked good and I was good to go. My nails were absolutely ratchet. Dry and flakey with a bunch of acrylic still left on it. I could've done a better job at home honestly. I'm glad it was free. I guess they only care if you're paying. I would've paid money for someone to actually help me. Waste of my time and honestly cried when I left because when I came home I had to scrape off the rest of the acrylic, cut my nails, and there is still acrylic residue on my fingers and nails. Popped into Highland Nails on a work trip, in desperate need of a gel mani. I am always hesitant to go someplace on the road, not knowing if it's good or bad. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. Truly one of those places where you feel like the owner actually cares about his customers and making sure they have a good experience and come back. Everyone was super friendly and laid back, not all stressed out and frantic like some places (went around 5pm on a weekday). Lily is the absolute BEST! I am super picky about the shape of my nails and the gel coverage - don't like when it gets on my skin or doesn't cover my whole nail. When I tell you my nails are perfect - they are PERFECT. I think that staff is friendly but the paint job did not look like it was done by an experienced professional. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't perfect. And for $30 gel manicure, it should be perfect. Moving on to the ambiance. It looks new, fresh paint, modern furniture and fixtures but they cluttered it up by hanging hideous pleather handbags from the wall candle holders. There is a slightly less hideous cheap shoe/wallet display in the corner. There are little TVs hanging on the wall that pass the time. I didn't make it back to the pedi area so I cannot report on that. If I lived in the area I might go back but would still keep my options open on a place that does more solid work. read more

I desperately needed a mani pedi today. I went and checked in and was led to the pedicure seat within 10 minutes. I got an upgrade on my pedi and it was $36 dollars. After that we got to work on my nails, I got a full set with an ombré finish and I'd like to really give the girl that did my nails and feet the most positive review because she was very very detail oriented and made sure all my nails were even and perfect. My only complaint was the bill at the end. All together it cost me $96 dollars (tip not included) for both my nails and feet. Again the only add on I got was the upgrade to my pedicure. I have never spent that much money on a mani pedi and I'm not sure how my nails cost $60 dollars when I have no designs, no gel , literally just acrylic powder brushed into an ombré. Maybe someone more familiar with this establishment can explain to me how their prices run but I don't see how it got to be so much. Everything else was completely wonderful and I would love to go back if it wasn't for the very high cost of something that should be so basic. Update: nails started chipping two days into it. I've never had gel do that before....except when they get it on my skin :( picture added to show it Not my favorite place to get my nails done but it'll do when I don't have time to drive out to my regular spot (Cali nails on hurstbourne). The wait was pretty long when I went on Saturday, and I was long finished with my nails before my friends so I was then left waiting for them to get done with theirs. I got a gel (shellac) manicure. My nails are pretty short right now, so I know it was probably tougher to paint them - but the tech got quite a bit of the gel polish and top coat on my skin which means this manicure is not going to last long. The coats are even so that is good, but bummed about how much is on my skin. When I asked to leave a tip on the card, the tech was visibly disappointed I didn't have cash. I know it's preferable to have cash, but I still wanted to tip her and didn't have any cash on me. Kind of made me feel bad that I couldn't give her cash.
