I have been looking for a nail salon for a while now. I have tried several different locations but none of them really gave me the service I was looking for. I am kind of picky about my nails and I like them done without the cuticles being cut/pushed and ground down. I walked into First Lady Nails as a new customer earlier this week. The nail salon is decorated in such a classical-whimsical way that just made me feel so comfortable. Treated myself to the First Lady Pedicure which was done by Morgan. This was seriously the very BEST pedicure I have ever had in my life---Morgan took her time and was meticulous with each step of the manicure. Also had a fill-in with Jennie and she did an amazing job on my nails...She not only listened to my concerns about my cuticles but did exactly what I asked without question. Jennie finished my nails with the tiger eye polish we chose together, and I absolutely love the way my nails turned out. First Lady Nails has a new regular customer right here! read more

I used to come here years ago and that's how I met Tammie. This establishment is big and they decorate for every holiday. It's the old PNC bank next to El Nopal. They have phone stands for you to put your phone on to enjoy a show or music while being serviced. Adrianna was the young lady that did my mani and pedi. She was very pleasant and she wasn't rough at all. They have so many different nail polish, gel polish, gel x..etc. There are many pedicure chairs and nail techs. I wanted a simple manicure with some clear gel polish. Just to keep my nails looking neat and well-kept. I got great service. My technician, Nina, did a fantastic job. She was attentive, gentle, and took time to get to know me a bit. I'm not really comfortable with being touched (even when I'm at the barber shop), but I did not feel too anxious or not out-of-place at First Lady Nails. The employees make great conversation and take interest in their customers. I even spoke a bit to the customer sitting next to me. It was really just an overall pleasant experience, which means a lot to someone like me (who is used to feeling awkward around others, or like I don't belong because of how I look). I have come here before and it has been good. My fiance and I came to get pedicures on Valentine's Day and had an appointment. We had to wait thirty minutes - on top of that we both only were served for around 25 minutes. Most of it was just cutting my toes and she rubbed my feet for approximately three minutes. Customer service is terrible rude nail tech Jessica and another woman rude I didn't even finish letting them complete what I wanted which was a French manicure for my hands and toes. This was my first time at First Lady Nails. I was able to make an appointment the day before for the time I requested. When I first arrived the parking lot was full, but there is additional parking across the alley near the old bank drive-thru. There are several doors to the business but the true entrance is in the front off Eastern Parkway. At first glance the building looks small, but when you go inside you're pleasantly surprised. It's very spacious and bright! When you first enter there is the reception desk, the sinks to wash your hands are directly behind it, then rows of nail stations and in the rear along the wall are the pedicure chairs. I was immediately greeted and asked what service I was getting. I was told to wash my hands and then pick out a color. Whew, it was overwhelming because they have hundreds of choices. Lots of colors and options I have never seen before like gradient colors and iridescent colors. After 10 minutes I picked my color and was told where to sit. I came with some friends and we were all able to sit and chat together as we waited for technicians to be ready for us. I was greeted by Nina, who is the owner or manager of the business. She was incredibly friendly and sweet! She also did a phenomenal job on my nails. She took extra care and was really skilled. I selected a dark blue and accent color. The accent color wasn't available but she brought a suggested replacement that I loved. For the gel manicure it cost $42 before tip. I love my nails and think she did a great job! I will definitely be back and will be making an appointment with Nina! read more

My original nail spot! Before the pandemic, I would come during my lunch break to get my nails done (shhh don't tell anyone) and could easily get squeezed in without an appointment. However, now I understand the benefit of getting own. The inside is fairly large with a lot of different nail techs that provide services. The layout is very open with plenty of polish options and types to choose from. I recently visited for a parents day out with my husband where we got pedicures. We ordered one of their drinks (we may have gotten a margarita at 10am- it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?). We had such a positive experience! If I'm back in the area and am in need of a pedi or mani, I will always choose this location. read more

I really do not want to post this. This is usually a great place to go (thanks to Savannah and a couple of the more popular nail techs there) however this past time was a serious mistake on my part. I had to go to a tech named Way-Way, my usual tech was on vacation. Way-Way was terrible! She stayed on her phone--texting--almost the entire time. She did not pay any attention to what she was doing at all. She filed into my cuticles and finger tips (so badly I bled for 2 days), the paint job is pretty amateur (I have been asked many times if I did my own nails!!!!! By people who know that I could not do them myself, at all, none the less) and I asked for stiletto style nails, twice, and she either ignored me or just had no idea what she was doing. I did not feel comfortable asking a third time as she had already filed into my fingers and was too busy texting. I was really upset and should have made an issue out of this, but I really love several of the other techs and the work they do. Just avoid Way-Way at all costs. read more

It was high time for a Sister Date with my sis and we decided that pedicures were on the menu. She has been here before and recommended it. And it is pretty close to my neighborhood, and I am all for close-to-home things! So she made appointments for us, coincidentally in the middle of Derby week (when they are more consistently busy as everyone gets themselves looking supa-fly for the track and parties). They have a small lot, as the building they occupy was previously a bank. I had to park on a side street because the lot was full, but if you go during a less busy week, I think parking would be easier to acquire. We were greeted immediately after walking in and invited to select our nail colors. They have a great selection and it is well organized. I was also struck upon walking in by the atmosphere. It is clean and bright and open. And the stations look clean and well cared for. I have been to other nail places that are not nearly as neat looking. I felt very comfortable and and like I was in good hands. A woman brought us over to two pedicure stations and got our foot baths started, offered us beverages, and showed us how to use the massage chairs while we waited for our turn. The ladies working on us were absolutely lovely. Friendly and chatty, but still letting my sister and I talk to each other as well. They asked before attacking our neglected feet with the intimidating looking grater (yes, please! Whatever you think my poor tootsies need!). And the whole spa pedi process was relaxing and wonderful. My toes look super pretty! I would show you but...pictures of feet (even my own)...no thank you. I chose and olive green to compliment my goldenrod/mustard yellow dress I intend to wear on Derby. I would absolutely return here to get my nails done. I don't get them done often, generally just as a very rare Treat-Yo-Self kind of thing. But the next time that urge hits me....I know exactly where I will be going! read more

After having a bad experience at another nail salon, my cousin recommended Jonathan at First Lady Nails. I called and scheduled an appointment with John, got the text comfiming my appointment, followed the steps to confirm. When I arrived at my scheduled time, there seemed to be some sort of confusion, they seated me with a John nameplate. However, I ended up getting my nails done by Travis. Which was a little strange, because they didn't tell me what happened, just acted like this was normal. Just sharing, you may not get who you book an appointment with. With that being said, Travis did an amazing job!! He made sure I was happy with my nails every step of the process, and was very careful with my pinky that had been cut at the other nail salon I went to a couple weeks before. I called at 2:45pm on a Saturday and were able to get us in at 3pm for two pedicures. They offer a selection of wine and they come in the little mini bottles so you don't have to worry about how fresh it is. Everyone was friendly and the techs were fun to chat with. I most definitely received a pedicure that was worth the money. My nail tech Una, didn't rush and was thorough with everything. I recommend Una and my friend had Nina who was also excellent and may be the owner or manager of the place. It seemed like the employees enjoyed their work environment (kudos to the management) and they made us feel really welcome. I recommend the fruit pedicure that comes with a salt scrub and actual oranges. Perfect little spot. I wish I lived closer, I would go all the time. read more

Wanted to try this nail place out because their nail art and whatnot looked super neat. I don't get my nails done often, but my father's memorial is tomorrow and I wanted to look good so I stopped in. The place itself is very clean and spacious. They take temperatures at the door and have you wash your hands. It takes a minute to get someone to notice you, so I stood around awkwardly for a few minutes. Eventually, I was seated to wait. And wait I did, roughly 30 minutes. I didn't mind though, I was a walk-in and they were relatively busy. Eventually, a woman pointed me to a room I'd be meeting my nail tech in to get my nails done. I waited in this room for about 15 more minutes, then my nail tech showed up. She was ok, polite enough. Very enveloped in her phone and got up a lot though, so the nails took quite a bit longer than they should have. Had to run to the bathroom 5 minutes in (which I didn't mind), then got up to talk to coworkers a few times. I asked for a short (for work) acrylic set with ombré paint. The ombré turned out fine, but there are a couple of spots the nail tech left that just don't look good. I didn't ask her to fix them because I was already there much longer than I wanted to be, but for $70 I would think that they would clean the nails up some, take care of the cuticles a bit, etc. Nope. Just roughed my nails up a bit to make the acrylic ones stick and plopped them on. If more time were taken and more effort made, my nails would look fabulous. Unfortunately, I paid $70 for pretty ombré nails that were shoddily done in some spots. The ombré is great, but as pictured in my review, you can see spots that don't look right. There are a few spots like this. For $70 I expect good customer service and great quality. read more

Leaving bad reviews is not something I like to do. However, a few of my friends have urged me to write this so it can be avoided for others. Last week I went to get my first pedicure in 2 years for a wedding I was in. I was expecting a pleasant, relaxing experience. During the pedicure, my technician knew she cut my cuticle too short on one foot and even asked if it hurt. I said yes. She then proceeded to do the same thing on the other big toe. About 2 hours after the pedicure, my big toes were hurting. I looked down and they were both bright red around the toes. I called the next day to tell them I was upset and suspected that I had an infection from the pedicure. The manager told me that I would have to come in and speak directly to the technician and ask for the money back since they are independent contractors. I decided not to do this because I did not feel right asking the tech for the money since it is not like she purposefully tried to do this. That is also why I'm not mentioning her name. I feel like the manager should have done a better job in handling the situation. It is now 6 days later and I have been prescribed antibiotics because the redness continued to spread. I tried doing epsom salt warm water soaks 3 times a day everyday but that did not help. So I had to spend money on the pedicure then the doctor's appointment and now the antibiotics. Overall, it was absolutely not worth it in my experience. I would suggest that you ask your pedicurist to not cut your cuticles and to just leave that part alone because it's truly not necessary and not worth what could happen. I will say that this is probably my last pedicure, especially at this establishment. read more

Okay... so to start with, I had an appointment for 2pm. I sat around until about 2:30 before I had someone that was available to do my nails. At this point I wasn't upset at all, they were honestly extremely busy so I was fine with hanging out for a bit. A friend I know from work ended up coming in at about the same time so we were talking about the place and what she was getting, and she told me about a couple of workers there that are supposed to be some of the best in Louisville. She was getting hers done by one of them, and told me that they basically stay booked. I had no clue who I was going to be with but I was hoping whoever it was, that they'd be able to replicate my inspo picture. Well, I finally get brought to a separate room off to the side and was surprised to see that I was getting one of the ladies that my friend had told me about. I felt excited, and confident that my simple design should easily be able to turn out just the way I hoped, if she was really as good as my friend was saying. She seemed nice, but she seemed rushed the entire time. It felt like I was squeezed in and that she didn't really have the time. Halfway through, a lady approached her to say that her next appointment was here. From that point forward she rushed even more. A couple of times I had to ask her to fix things and each time she seemed more and more agitated with me. By the time she was done, I was extremely disappointed and honestly agitated with her service. She definitely did not live up to the expectation that my friend had set. I ended up paying and sitting in my car for about 10 minutes to cool off and think about what I should do. I'm not normally the type to complain or have things redone, but this was $80. That's a lot for how terrible these were. I finally built up the courage to go back in and say something and everyone fully agreed that they looked really bad, and they immediately sat me down to fix them. We ended up having to completely soak them off and re do them. Sophie is the incredible woman that helped me, and completely turned my day around. I showed the inspo picture again and she executed perfectly! She was so kind and funny, and she did such an amazing job! She is the reason I will be coming back to First Lady Nails in the future. I don't want to cause problems for the original artist because this is her source of income so I would never share her name, but I wanted to share my experience. I am writing this review in hopes that someone at Frist Lady will see and read it. I have been going to First lady for over a year, quite religiously every three weeks, for a dip nail manicure and pedicure. Even when they had to close, I made sure to be one of the first to book an appointment when they could reopen. I feel awful writing this review, and I even tried to talk to someone at the salon during my last visit, but couldn't get anyone's attention. My last 3 visits have been less than desirable. I kept thinking, "oh, it's an off week or someone didn't show up" but it's been worse each time. To start, I have booked a jelly pedicure the last three visits and never received one. I kept thinking, they will drain the water and put the jelly in, and nothing. Even when I brought it up, I was told it was "very messy." Sadly, no one wanted to listen to me about what I had booked. I get it, if you are too busy, then tell me. But don't put it on the menu if that's the case. I work on my feet every single day and enjoy a jelly pedicure and that is what I had booked. Also, the last several times I have booked an appointment, someone on the staff is late or doesn't show up at all, and this puts the entire staff into a tailspin. My technician was having to answer the phone and the door and take temps because their receptionist had not shown up. This caused my manicure to be rushed and sadly, they chipped a day later. The dip was thin and I did not get any kind of manicure. Just a couple swipes of the emery board and dip and go. No trim, no cuticle treatment, nothing. My pedicure was ok, but again, rushed. It seems to be the theme of cranking out as many people as possible and not about quality. I am not asking to be in there for 3 hours or anything, but it was just rushed. Which also caused my technician to nick my skin on two toes. The scheduling has been pretty disastrous as well. I always make an appointment, and call and confirm. Every time they allow walk-ins to line up and push appointments back. I get it, we are all trying to get our businesses back up and running after 2020, but appointments should be honored before walk-ins. If not, why make an appointment? Lastly, the staff bashing each other has become constant. If I can hear you, so can everyone else. There is always two or three of the same employees that make no secret of how they feel about other staff members. Hey, I get it. We don't have to love everyone we work with, but talk about that after work or somewhere else. Not on the salon floor. I hate the the quality and the vibe of First Lady has gone downhill. I enjoyed so many services there for many months, but whatever has changed, be it the staff or management or process, just needs to be addressed. Sadly, I will be seeking another salon for my next appointment. Thank you. read more

I called and learned there was no wait, so I UBERed over to salon on Eastern Parkway. The salon is in a building that was once a bank. HSAR SAVED MY NAILS. I was on the road, traveling, stressed and I ripped all my SNS nails off. They were sore and abused. Entirely my fault. So I went to another nail salon in Pittsburgh to just get SOMETHING on my nails to stop the pain. The result was the worst manicure of my life. I asked for almond, they looked like blobs. I wanted to cry. The next day I was in Louisville and Hsar saved my nails. He took his time and was gentle with my poor sore nails. Had an overall great experience here! If you come, ask for IVY - she is thorough, careful and very talented! I got a spa mani/pedi. Ivy gave an excellent massage, was affable and did a FANTASTIC job with my nails. I rarely get mani/pedis so didn't really know what I wanted. I brought a picture for nail art inspiration and she was able to give recommendations and add a few fun little touches that made my nails look great. HIGHLY recommend! Unfortunately I don't live in Louisville, but would otherwise be back for my mani/pedi needs. Fair warning - this place gets very busy so be prepared to wait at any given time of day.
