The prices were extremely reasonable unlike many places on the island and the service was great! I never would have stopped here ordinarily but my friend had been here before and suggested it. Came here Friday night for BFs bday! Omg how did I not know about this place? We had a blast and the food was really good! We started with sweet teas, hush puppies, and buffalo wings. Went on a Friday night and there was about a 20 minute wait. I have a 4 year old, and they have those nice quarter machines where you get a little toy, so he was entertained. We were seated outside, and there was plenty room for our party of 5. They have a little sand area for the kiddos to play, which I thought was a nice touch. I tried the fried okra, which was tasty! I didn't have any BBQ, I know shame shame- but I did have the BLT. I thought the portion was decent, and whatever aioli they used had some spice and was a nice twist to your typical BLT. What a southern treat!!! From the hospitality to the sweet tea, this place takes you back south. We had wings to start the meal off right- try the dry rub, so tasty! The wings were large in size and they bring out a tray of BBQ sauces for you try. I ordered the boiled crab legs, we'll super sweet and moist, they didn't seem to have much of the Cajun flavor advertised on the menu. It was a great portion and really made me happy! Third time coming here and I guess it's time to give a review. We usually come here when it's not so busy but tonight we made the mistake of coming during dinner. It was so crowded! But it's a good place so why wouldn't it be? My fiancé and I got seated on a small table which didn't give us much room for our food, but didn't stop us from ordering whatever we wanted. Maybe next time it should since we didn't have room on our table once our food came. Instead of serving complimentary bread like most places, this place serves you complimentary popcorn. Pretty awesome. Makes you thirsty though which I think is the whole point because they have an abundance of drink choices. We ordered a two choice brisket and pulled pork with included 2 choice sides, which we chose mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. We also previously tried the pork n beans. USUALLY the brisket and pulled pork is a good choice, tonight it didn't seem like the pulled pork was up to par. Brisket was fine, the pulled pork seemed dry. Even with the bbq sauce. Oh, and this place is pretty cool because they give you 6 different bbq sauces to choose from, which is left right on your table. We also ordered the cheese sticks (I ALWAYS forget the real name of it!) and the roasted crab and artichoke dip with bread. Now the crab dip wasn't too bad, had a lot of onions which is "eh" in my taste and it also had a taste of relish? Maybe pickles? Same thing right? Anyways, that taste I wasn't too fond of. Unfortunately my fiancé didn't like the crab dip at all. So we won't be ordering that next time. BUT the cheese sticks (whatever they're really called) is my FAVORITE! We always order the same thing during Happy Hour Beer duh! and to eat some Peel-n-Eat Shrimp and 1/2lb Crab Legs. I can not comment on any other part of the menu because I have never had it. If you want a more party feel go to the Dixie Grill by Aloha Stadium there is a club on the 2nd floor and the place is always full of military and locals ready to party. I'm from the Southwest (New Mexico). So naturally I'm the biggest fan of Texas BBQ. My husband, who really just eats an awful lot, raved about this place and had wanted to bring me here for a while. I really liked the atmosphere. Seemed pretty fun and appropriate for a BBQ joint. I don't feel like I've been anywhere on-Island that can compare. We sat out on the deck which was nice. There's a little sand area out there and I thought it was a nice touch. They bring out popcorn while you look at the menu and it was tasty! We started with deep fried deviled eggs which were good enough. Seemed a little weird so we ordered them. They were fine but nothing special. I got the two-meat plate with pulled pork and smoked turkey and cornbread casserole and mac and cheese for sides. He got the 4-meat plate (turkey, pork, pastrami and brisket) with collard greens and cheese grits. All of the meat was really good and they bring out a whole bunch of sauces to match your BBQ preference (Texas, Carolina, Memphis, Hawaii, etc.) which is really pretty nice. The sides were nothing special. Mac and cheese was pretty much flavorless and the grits tasted funky - like the water was old maybe. The cornbread casserole was pretty good and the greens were excellent. My biggest complaint is that I ALWAYS require some sliced pickles and onions with my BBQ and this place does not have that. Overall, I was pleased with the food though and we will be back. The wait staff was very attentive. We didn't have to wait for any food to come out or wait for our check. There was a little girl there celebrating her birthday - as evidenced by the giant ice cream-covered dessert and the song she received - that had a little too much party because she ended up barfing on the table. They were really quick to clean it up and asked everyone sitting around if they wanted to move. No fault of the establishment though. read more

When you cater to the conservative white military crowd near the base, you're going to get awful reviews on Yelp because those people are trash. Don't listen to Karen and Chad's reviews of this place, Dixies is amazing. Horrible service. I didn't take photos because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food. It was delicious and southern just how we like it. Catfish, crab, shrimp, burger, kids meal with canned fruits was awesome. Well except for the canned fruit- try some fresh fruit guys. Our fourth visit in 3 months and this was the first time we've had a bad experience. The place was not busy for a kids eat free night. Which by the way, our waitress forgot about and still charged us. She was inattentive and forgetful. My sister and I drink. So we knew to order water with our drinks. The drinks came, no water. I asked again. I asked 3 times and then she finally showed up with water. She hardly checked on us and I wanted to drink more but she couldn't keep up. They were half empty and not busy. I gave up and decided to call it a night with no dessert. She just didn't check on us and I would have spent more money had she checked! This is how you loose good customers. Bad service. Oh, and the restrooms are a mess. My drunk ass almost landed on the floor of a flooded bathroom filled with water in both stalls. I told a manger looking lady with blonde hair that the floors were full of water and I almost fell, and she told me oh, that's the AC which isn't fixed yet, it's been doing that for some time. Yesterday Martin Luther King Day we decided to take drive, pickup trash in the Aiea bay by Pearl Harbor. We ended up at Dixie Grill for Lunch around 1:30pm. This is the 2nd time I have been there. Sign in front said Seat Yourself so we Did. We were noticed right away by waitress.The food is really good , Ono and yummy! Barbecue Bacon Burger had such amazing barbecue smoke taste. Friend had the French Dip that was also very good. French fries are real Homestyle French fries..lol! YUMMY w1000! Our waitress Kate was very friendly and helped me to decide what I wanted because so many yummy things on menu! Very attentive and positive attitude. Good waitress with a great smile! First time here and we both got the catfish!! First place we found on island with real catfish, being a Louisiana girl I can appreciate real catfish and it was seasoned perfect. Stumbled upon this place from a cab driver recommendation and it's the best kept secret near Pearl Harbor. Standard country feel with a chill vibe. Known for smoked food and the brisket. Upbeat atmosphere, great food and great service. Of note, our waiter, Shaun, recommended the house made Mai Tai with Bacardi 151 which turned out to be a great drink. The memorable part was that he asked if we were driving when he made the recommendation. This was a first and it's nice to see that the server actually cared. This is super petty, but I can't help it, I have to share, the thing that bothered me the most about this place was not the cold food or the incompetent management, it was the dirty floor and that filthy tray of sauces. The dip was cold and it took me a while to get the bartenders attention to ask if this was supposed to be a cold dip or hot dip. My boyfriend and I decided to try Dixie Grill on a whim. We drove past their sign on Kam Hwy right off the freeway and decided to turn in to their parkinglot and give it a shot. The inside was nicely decorated with a rustic feel, this place has lots of character. We were asked if we could sit outside as it did seem a little busy. (11am-ish) At first we didn't mind, but maybe next time we would ask to not sit on a picnic table in a restaurant. Our server was really sweet and helped us out with questions about the menu. We ordered a couple of burgers, and they tasted delicious! I believe I ordered the Buba Burger and I enjoyed it until the last bite. However, presentation could've been a little bit nicer, my plate was so unamusing I forgot to take a picture of it. They had 6 different types of homemade bbq sauce. Our favorite was the spiciest one. We tried the buffalo fries since it was listed as one of the happy hour starter; it was so delicious!
