I came in tonight to make a purchase and as soon as I got to the door, I realized they were closing. The gentleman locking the front doors said I had one minute if I knew what I needed and I did. I was escorted back to where I needed to make my purchase from and took it up to the front And got what I needed and was super happy. I think teaching every one of them for giving me that minute. I used to work in retail and no that it gets frustrating when somebody comes up after you're closed. If you don't wanna turn them away in yet, you wanna lock that door. I came it to get the supplies to mount my mirror and another time to mount my TV. I never have mounted anything before but the employees here are very helpful. They made sure I had everything to get the job done right. They even were able to match the exact nail that I needed for the tv mounting kit I bought. Overall great place. read more

The people that work at this Ace are always super nice. It has the basics for home repair and common supplies like cleaning products, cooking utensils and salt in the winter time. The price of hand soap and cooking tongs are a bit high but at least they are available if you need them asap. I really like that they have wild bird food and suet cakes year round. They also have a good seasonal selection like Christmas lights and neck fans and other things you didn't know you needed. It is only half a mile from my house and will continue to be my one stop shop for those random things I need on the fly. read more

I came in today shopping for a particular color of gold spray paint. Several people had told me they had an awesome variety and it was true! Thank you Rita for opening "the cage" and helping me compare the different types of gold paint. This is the 2nd time I've shopped at this Ace Hardware location and I always wish I had more time. Unless you are looking for lumber this place beats both Home Depot and Lowe's. In addition, the service is better to boot... I mainly come here for hardware and sandpaper because they have extensive selection and the prices are not too bad. This is in the same parking lot as a bunch of other businesses, so the parking lot is huge. Make sure you don't leave any valuables in the car where they can be seen though. read more

This is by far, the worst Ace Hardware Store in town. I do like the ladies who helped me chose a paint color. And the dude with long hair is super cool--and Art is too. They are professional and courteous. So I happened to purchase a bag of grass seed in June--I just needed to patch up some brown spots. However after doing all the steps to reseed the lawn, the seed never germinated. I checked the expiration date which was ok. And was with the 30 days of purchase--I went to return the bag of dead seeds and it was like pulling a tooth to get them to refund or even replace it. Beginning with lame counter woman who never says hello to anybody. She acted like I was putting her out because she had to call to get tne approval from the manager Ultimately the manager refused to refund me--I spoke to both middle managers on two separate occasions about this and to no avail. To be honest, the first manager I spoke to tried to refund my money, but because of their POS system it would not allow me to credit my debit card. She claimed that it was something wrong with my card--I even purchased a small item to prove that my card was active. Again to no avail. One would think-if it's their system deficient they could al least offer the customer store credit...but nope. The other dude manager didn't even care. He said "how do I know that the seed is no good?" You could take a container and could try to grow a small amount in a plastic pot in their garden area. Duh. I would have to speck to owner who wasn't even there. Morons in charge. I just moved. into this neighborhood, but I will be traveling to the Happy Valley location which is 15 miles away, I give that store a 5 star rating. Our plumbing went south in the ice storm and the incredible staff helped us replace the drain in the kitchen ourselves. Patient, looked at the photos and hooked us up with everything we needed. They did not talk to us like we were idiots but did explain the steps in a way that both of us clearly understood. While we might not be idiots, we had absolutely no clue what to do. Saved us a ton as we were looking at getting a plumber. Love this place! read more

I've been shopping at this Ace store for nearly 20 years and have never had a bad experience. The checkout line can be a little slow at certain times of the year but that's an issue common to all retailers. The employees have always been super helpful. I recall them handling an unruly (irrational?) customer with far more patience than I could have. That incident alone was enough to earn them 5 stars in my book. read more

Was harassed and followed out of the store, because I said I didn't need help and the guy (Johnathon) said "are you sure?", I looked up and he just stared at me, I asked him if he needed anything and he said "well the store's closed!" I had walked right in and had no idea it closed at 6. I said why didn't you say so and started walking out, he then followed me out of the store. I stopped and said I'm leaving, he kept following me, I said Dude, you don't need to follow me. That's when he started yelling at me, and the manager was right there and started yelling at me too. So glad to have this store nearby! Not only do they have most everything I need, their staff and crew are always helpful and friendly. Recently I had to replace a deadbolt with a broken tumbler. On Sunday no nearby locksmiths were open, so I called Ace and they said to bring it in. Jamie rebuilt the tumbler so we could keep our keys and match the existing hardware. He got it working perfectly. Not only is he experienced and knowledgeable, his interaction with his coworkers was consistently respectful and considerate. I have needed help with tricky problems a few other times, and their crew has always come through. It really is the helpful hardware place. read more

I had to buy a 12 f ladder and after being searching of multiple stores, I found the best due at ACE Hardware. Went to the store and hoped to see the real ladder with hope to figure out the way to bring to my spa. Luckily I got Paul who offered helping me out after he knowing that I don't have truck. I was very surprised of how care and willingness from him that so hard to find in the stressful market nowadays. There is a wrong selection/oder by my mistake but still Paul offered me another trip to make it done and make it perfect and of course under his manager Jim's approval. As a business woman and a health care staff who interact to all customers and patients every day, I would extremely appreciate how Paul's attitude and willingness that truly beyond of his duty and responsibility. I also found out that ACE carrying lots of selected unique items that surely I am in need. Also, they doing knife sharping which is wonderful idea! This is the only store that staffs will listen to what you need and help you out with the best solution. As you know being a woman who working in the beauty field, entering the hardware store to find stuffs she needs which is not an easy feeling. But yes ACE Hardware had helped me out with a true warmed heart attitude. Writing this review, I not only recommend truly handy men to shop here but also to women who like me to be more comfortable with what you may have been hesitated about. Called 30 minutes prior to arriving to verify they refilled propane. They said I'd have to carry them thru store to back. I explained the safety issue and weight, they said to pull around back and call. I did. When I did so they said I had to go to front and carry thru store, again I explained and they said to sit out back they would send someone. I waited and waited. Only to be told go to front and carry thru store. So I did. My two propane tanks are 57 lbs each. I had to carry thru store after filled. Please read reviews and fix multiple problems at your store or just put a sign out front to let potential customers know you DO NOT want to be helpful, courteous, professional etc. read more

Division Ace Hardware is wholly OK because it does have everything you need for projects either at work or around the house. The clerk was a genuinely nice guy who knew his tool stuff, and he and Ron hit it off and had a grand old tool time together. This Ace is very large, much closer to being a Home Depot store, but it unfortunately is devoid of charm. Please don't laugh. I know I sound a little silly, but for instance the Ace in St. John's hands out free popcorn, has two store golden retrievers dressed in red Ace jackets (they just destroy me with cuteness), and has a lot of great home decor items to shop through. I also prefer the smaller Ace stores. Tool lovers are going to love this Ace for all that it has to offer. Perhaps in spring there will be more charming things, like flowers and bird supplies, that are more fun for me to shop. read more

Super helpful, well informed. Staff goes out of their way to find answers for you. If one person doesn't have a particular subject-expertise you're thoughtfully redirected to staff member who does. Store feels safe to shop in, too - not always a guarantee in these challenging times. No profiling, but they do peacefully escort out shoplifters. Which I am grateful for. On 11/23 I went in to buy a pan for my turkey for Thanksgiving. An odd thing, but Fred Meyer was out of stock due to the upcoming holiday. I had a store associate misgender me. I politely asked him not to address me the way that he had addressed me. As I was leaving the store the same associate decided to LOUDLY & purposefully misgender me. I approached him and asked him why he was being transphobic. He raised his voice at me, cussed at me, & stated that he doesn't know how to say "goodbye" without misgendering me. I told him a simple "Have a good day" or "Goodbye" would suffice. This escalated the store associate further to the point that a manager had to remove him from yelling in my face. Absolutely unacceptable. I've previously worked in customer service for close to 15 years and have never seen this level of bigotry and hatred towards a polite request for the customer to treat me with the respect that I deserve. It's really an injustice to the community that surrounds them due to this store being 1 mile from my home. If they keep treating their customers like this they'll be out of business. I'll be doing my shopping at a different retailer from now forward. read more

Jessica an employee at this location is super disrespectful and rude to customers, the manager even said she has been having issues with customers cussing at her and spitting at her and its probably because of how rude she is to the customers. And the manager isnt much better himself. This location used to have wonderful employees and me and my husband were regulars but with these new employees, we will not be going and dont recommend others go either, the poor customer service at this location is atrocious. read more

Yet another stellar review on this place. Looks like I'm not alone. Came in for a paint mix. Everyone in masks and all. Upon approaching the paint counter where there was ONE person in front of me, after standing there for 5 min. I was told by Randy that it was going to be quite a wait. The gal in front of me was having ONE gallon of paint mixed. He told me if I had any shopping to do, I should go do it (I didn't). Fifteen minutes goes by. He seems confused by the computer, is he new? Stoned? Both? There seems to be something of great interest out the window. He is just standing there staring into the parking lot. 18 minutes has gone by and now it's my turn for amazing Randy service. With his long flowing locks and tattooed limbs, he takes my Benjamin Moore formula (I came with the info) and dives into the paint wizard website once again. Occasionally telling other customers there was no one to help them, he pounds the keyboard like a ferocious gamer trying to save his game before being killed. I use this place for items I know they have in stock. I usually check online 1st to see if they carry what I'm looking for. The sales staff can be condescending to down right rude at times. Just depends on who you ask for service. One sale associate smells like alcohol when your close most of the time. Still they have what I need sometimes so I will continue to shop there as they are the closest hardware store. read more

I live near this store and have been there at least a dozen times in the last year. Their prices are fine, they send out coupons when you join the rewards club, and everyone that works there has always been super helpful to me. They may not always be cheaper or have the same inventory as the big box stores, but they are awesome for a neighborhood hardware store. read more

I will never buy at Ace Hardware again! I bought a lazer tape measure at another location. Upon opening and testing it, the display screen numbers were too small. I brought it in to this Ace on SE 162nd and SE Division. They wouldn't do the return because I didn't buy it at this store, AN ACE HARDWARE STORE!!!! They said some were individually owned and some were company owned. KNOW-ONE told me, the customer, about this screwy return policy. I will now buy at Home Depot. Prices are just as good and return policy is, well, THEY TAKE THEIR STUFF BACK ON RETURNS. read more

Long time customer, 30+ years with Powell Villa and Division St. Ace stores. I was not treated very well at the Division store today. The female clerk was rude. I was informed that I needed to be taught the proper order to give her my information so as to make her job easier. I'm not used to being treated like that by a store clerk. She didn't even thank me as we completed the transaction. I manage a crew and train my people to treat our customers courteously and with respect. I will not let one person affect a 30 year relationship so I will continue to shop there but they need to train their staff in how to treat the customer and basic civility. read more

I just went to this store to get a product from them. The young gentleman working by the keys said that he is tired of getting that product for people, so he called a colleague to help me. The other young gentleman that helped me did not know what he was doing. When I asked for more help, the first young gentleman working by the keys told me that if I did not like it I could go somewhere else. Totally unprofessional, I would have been fired if I did that at my job. The gentleman working the front was nice and professional, but the young gentleman in the back, not so much. Went in on 12/31/16 to purchase more of the suet cakes that had been on sale all month . Purchased some on 12/19/16 but apparently not enough so went back to get more as the sale ends at midnight. Sale price did not come up and didn't even bother looking for the current ad ending today and didn't offer to honor it so left. This is literally the most disappointing ace I have ever been to. It's the closest hardware store to my house, but about 3/4 of the time I leave frustrated and go to Parr, Miller or Home Depot. Sales staff don't help unless you go to the back and drag them out of conversations, even then their knowledge is pretty limited. They are often out of stock of the most basic items. I took a defective door knob and assembly back to them because it did not work. I did have the receipt to show them. They refused to exchange it for a working door knob assembly and lock and were also very rude to me. The manager of the day named Jesse was very rude. After he refused to exchange it and I told him what my handyman said, he very sarcastically said" does your handyman work here". Your local neighborhood store is not always better than the big box store. Division Ace Hardware is a prime example. I have spent a lot of money at this store in the last few months. One of my recent purchases was some hose for my water catchment system. Yesterday was the first day we have had rain in a few months. I hooked up the hose and right away noticed there was a hole in the hose. I went back to the store and was told that cut hose is not a returnable item. I explained that the hose must of been damaged at time of purchase. The cashier did not care. She showed me where it states in small print under the item on the receipt that it states "no return". She told me to speak with the manager, which I did. He did not care either policy is policy... Did not take into consideration that I am in the store often and am a good customer. I understand the hose can not be resold it has a hole in it! It was defective when it was sold to me. Clearly they don't care about making things right. I will not do business with this store or any Ace Hardware for that matter. I decided I would go to Home Depot at Airport Way to find something to repair it. Now, they provided me GREAT customer service. The sales Associate asked if I had the hose in the car, which I did. I brought the hose in for him to see where it was damaged and he opened up some repair tape and fixed the hose free of charge and gave me the tape for future use. I was recently in the store to buy an air conditioner as its hot in Portland, Oregon right now there is a heat advisory and its over 100. I am over 65 years old and even though I couldn't afford to buy it I had to because of health worries. I was not told NOT ONCE that there was no returns. My sister had a spare air conditioner she wasn't using and knowing my financial predicament gave me hers. I lugged the air conditioner back to the store UNOPENED box in perfect condition. As soon as I got in the door the same lady was only too happy to tell me I could not return it. I said oh yes I can (as I was sure she was wrong). She said do you have your receipt? and I said yes and she could not WAIT TO SHOW ME on the receipt where it said all sales final. WHY didn't she do that for me with the same excitement when she sold it to me!! Yes, it was the same lady! It's 100 degrees and I had to lug that air conditioner back out to my car SHE DIDN'T even offer to have anyone help me. I told her I will NEVER do business with your store again and I MEAN it. I am splashing this on every social network I can so I can warn others of this awful treatment!! That's how you treat your elders in your community???? read more
