The menu is quite lengthy and there is a wide variety of options. The trivia was fun, too. While it was certainly challenging, it wasn't impossible. So I've been coming here for years.. And they introduce new items to the menu every so often and I saw the Sliders and figured why not... Let's try these bad boys and man.. I have to say.. In my opinion these are the BEST beef sliders on the Upper Westside hands down. I mean I've tried a few different spots up here and these are the ones so far.. They have flavor, cooked to perfection and I love that they're served on Brioche mini buns.. This makes a big difference for me. Almost reminds me of "Pop Burgers" downtown, which is no longer around. So yeah.. Looking for some good sliders or bar food in general this spot hits! Chicken Fingers were on point too as was the Hot dog and Tots.. All together it was a great time. The waitress was super cool, attentive and accommodating. As far as ambiance, it was chill. Some cool music playing in the background at an easy level. Not blasting. Folks chatting amongst their friends. Overall a great time, with good company and delicious bites! I was here watching the game with my family and some really close friends. I have loved coming to the Dive Bar since I was a child. We love the food, we love how accommodating they are, and we love them. I had the Caesar salad with blackened salmon on top, I "tasted" the French fries, and I ordered some Kentucky barbeque wings to go and a ton of Diet Coke's. As usual, I had a great experience, and I would never expect anything different. I know for a fact that I will always come to the Dive Bar for a classic, safe, and exciting experience. They have a juke box available (unless there's a game on) and they have the cutest fish in the front and in the back that you can sit and look at for a while. If you find yourself on the Upper West Side you need to come here. You'll be happy you did. read more

I came here with three friend passing by looking for a dive bar to watch the game. We stopping in this place looking for a drink. We sat down inside and were greeting by a white guy with dark hair and a mustache i think he was also the bartender not a waiter. He asked for IDs which is fine we are all 23 and look really young so this is normal. What was not normal and I've never experienced this before was the guy examining my ID extra hard then goes "i don't think this is real." it was also in a rude tone. I said i can show him other forms of identification because I keep my passport and even my older ID scans on my notes app. I also asked him why he thought it was fake just curious. He goes on to say a bunch of things like "the lamination, the font? (im not sure i blanked at this point because i was confused and put off) and proceeds to BEND my ID to the point there is a visible CREASE in the ID. I instantly noticed and asked "Did you bend my ID? Why would you do that?" He then says in a snarky tone that this is what people do to check IDs. Sure i can understand that but even after i told him i can show him other forms why would he do that. It was like he was trying to convince me that i was underage. I was shaking because i was so upset and im from out of town and have a flight tomorrow morning and this is my only form of identification to go to the airport and god forbid the scanner doesn't scan it with this bend in it now. I understand this is a thing i can get fixed and get a new ID but just that whole experience was off putting and rude. I had to step away after the encounter because i was just so upset, i think the whole table and him could tell how i was not happy and i even said to him that what he did made me really upset. Dive Bar is a great spot to go for late-night food/drinks when everything else is closed on the UWS. We arrived luckily 5 mins before last call for food (around midnight). I appreciate the variety of vegetarian options here! To drink I had the Pink Punch, which was decent. Again, this is a dive bar so don't expect fine craft cocktails! To eat, I tried the Vegan Fully Loaded hot dog (the chili was more like straight ground vegan beef? No sauce), Mozzarella Sticks (solid), Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, Onion Rings (beer battered, which I prefer) and my favorite item of the night, the General Tso Cauliflower. Chill neighborhood bar with a great list of beers. They have a lot of regular tables as well as high tops and it wasn't super crowded at 10pm on a sat night so it was a nice vibe. We got fries and Buffalo wings to nibble on, and they were tasty! Def will be back as regulars! read more

I love this neighborhood staple. It has been around for ages, just like me. Its THE perfect spot for lunch after a hard morning shopping at Home Goods. The last time I went, my sis had the mussels special and I had the falafel platter. The falafel platter was pretty good and the mussels were decent. What was even better, the mussels came with a free Stella. The draft Stella at Dive is really fresh tasting (and I dont even like Stella!). Scientist need to clone the waitress who was serving the outdoor seating and put her in every bar everywhere. Fast, attentive without being obtrusive, and friendly. She was outstanding. I like Dive Bar because it's a true neighborhood bar. The fact that they serve food is a big plus. I couldn't hate on fried pickles if you put a gun to my head. The kitchen was on top of it as well. Lots of people with sports jerseys on so if you're into the sports ball, this is your place. They even have two flatscreens in the outside seating. There's nothing in the neighborhood that compares. It's a casual place to linger and have a conversation (except on Karaoke Nite) and enjoy a rum & coke or beer in a proper glass. They're also one of the few places that are open past midnight. First impression: Your typical neighborhood dive bar. Has plenty of TVs, plenty of people stopping by for a meal after work. The crowd is pretty diverse with people doing happy hour, coming to watch the game, blow off steam after work, meet up with friends for a drink, etc etc. After the Halloween Parade, my friend and I stopped in for some late night noms and a drink for her (not me I had work early the next morning). We ate at the bar and the bartender was really attentive (answered all her questions about the different beers they had on tap and helped her pick one out). Service was fast, prompt and no nonsense. For a quick late night meal, it was perfect. The Noms: I ordered chicken wings, bartender helped me pick out the carolina BBQ flavor, which was really good. The celery sticks that accompanied the wings were fresh and crisp, even at the end of the night. The food was a guilty late night meal but so worth it because it was no frills and everything you want and need at the end of a long day of work and night of Halloween festivities In Conclusion: I've come here for wings often before the pandemic but haven't been in almost two years due to lockdowns and pandemic restrictions... but glad I found my way back. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Literally wandered in after a 4 hour happy hour at Calle Ocho up the block... Immedietly loved the place, a replica of a Belgium pub that I stumbled into years ago in Ghent..lots going on here, loved the festive lights. I can't remember the last time that a tap list was not overloaded with PIA's, and to create a flight out of Belgium beers was like a walk down memory lane! Duvell, Le Choffee..all old familiar friends prior to the US Craft Beer invasion. I remember when ordering a le fin du monde or a grimbergen double was as interesting as we were able to get. Came to dive bar on a weeknight at 11 pm because it was one of the very few places that had outdoor seating and was still open at that time in the neighborhood. We were seated outside but it took some time before the server came with waters for us. Got the dive bar burger and the everything wings. We were almost served some other party's food at one point. When the food finally came, the fries that came with the burger were cold (they had so much potential to be delicious though because they had that crispy coat to it). Burger was pretty good, I was a pretty big fan of the bun and the patty was cooked well. The wings were perfectly crispy but lacked some flavor (perhaps a little more salt would've helped?). While there were a few hiccups in the overall dining experience, dive bar met my needs for a super late dinner. read more

Diiiiiiive right in! This place is the dive of the UWS for me and countless others. The daily stream of regulars and newbies keep this place interesting, packed and a very social watering hole. A good place to have a bite and a drink, alone or with a group. This place looks small but it isn't and I'd strongly recommend bringing any size group in for a good time. Although the bathroom is tiny and can make anyone claustrophobic, it gets the job done. I cannot think of a time that I have not enjoyed myself here!
