Had a great experience. This review was long overdue. Was in the area for a Christmas dinner down the street. We were early so we decided to check out the area heard a piano playing so showed up. Sat down at the bar listen to some pianos talk to some locals had some great wine and champagne. Definitely recommend it very friendly inviting warm. read more

Everything was great except for one little thing, the food took forever to come out and our server didn't even come by to let us know anything. After about 30 minutes, I had to flag a guy down to ask him to check on our food! Very nice guy who may have been the manager, didn't get his name but he was cute! Our food started coming out right after that. I really appreciated his attention and sweetness! One of the other guys who brought our food out was super nice and friendly, he took our picture for us and shared a few laughs. Had nothing but praise after that one hiccup. All the food was yummy! Very cute and classy place! District wine is a really great option for date night or groups to share plates and drink wine. Loved the ambiance and the decor, there was also a live band playing who were phenomenal and really made the wine bar fun to relax and listen. It can get a little pricey. We paid about $95 for 2 small flights of wine, 3 cheese & charcuterie board, gorgonzola & honey crostini, & herbed meatballs. I think this would be a great place to stop by for drinks before or after a meal or just a place to snack on some tapas. Parking: There is street or metered parking around the blocks. read more

Updating my last review to reflect on the awesome experience I had last night at District Wine. Came in as a party of 4. Our server was Bri/Bree (not sure how it's spelled). She was FANTASTIC! She was so helpful for our party with wine and food recommendations. We loved everything we had. She was so on top of everything and really knowledgeable about wine. She was very on top of bussing and getting water refills. Her timing was perfect. The food and wine alone are great but the customer service we experienced yesterday with her was top notch. Parking: 2hr street parking is available. They have credit card meters. The meters are fancy in the area--they tell you when parking is free. We visited on a Saturday night past 6. Atmosphere: there's some areas where it's dark and some that have lighting. It looks like a romantic place to take someone out on a date or to have a chill drink. It has a fancy feel to it. This same night they had live music playing. Food: the food was pretty good. They serve small plates of food. We were there for a birthday party and they had a set menu of a variety of items. My favorite was their pork belly grilled cheese! I cannot comment about the price as it was pre-ordered. So if you're looking to host a birthday or meeting, this place can do it too. FOOD/DRINK: Great. We opted for the flight, which was $19 and featured a white and two reds, two of which were South American, and all of which were from woman-owned wineries. Wide variety of small bites (no entreés). Shared a flatbread, shishito peppers, and artichoke dip with crostini, and that was a reasonable amount of food for two. All the food we ate was flavorful and there's a wide variety of meat- and vegetarian options. SERVICE: Lovely, all staff was incredibly friendly, and they were great with explaining the menu options and wine list / tasting flight. The food came out tapas-style with sharing plates and quickly. No reservations needed on a weeknight, though might do so for a weekend. AMBIANCE: Would be fantastic for a date night since it's got mood lighting, spread-out tables and some areas with lush chairs / cozy seating, softer music. Very romantic. I have finally found my favorite wine bar in Long Beach! If you're visiting with someone who isn't a wine drinker, they also have beers. I came here for a birthday celebration and the hostess offered us the private lounge which allowed us to not have to lower our voices and we were able to laugh as much as we wanted without having to worry about disturbing other patrons. Oh my gosh!!! The food was so delicious! I would totally go back just for the food! We ordered 5 bottles and we got so much food (about 10 entrees) between the five of us and the total was around $200, which was not bad at all! We were there for about 3 hours and we never felt rushed at all. I love the low lighting, wine bottle decor, and the cigar shop furniture look a lot. It would be a nice relaxing date spot ;) * The only thing I would suggest is softer music .. I wasn't enjoying the pop music while sipping wine. read more

I love happy hour!! M-F 4pm-7pm, Sat 12pm-7pm. Pretty great hours!! There's inside seating, or there's bar seating out on their little secluded area on the street. Great spot to hang out at for people (and dog) watching, especially now when the weather is great. Walked over with the bf yesterday to unwind after work. As usual, wine for me and beer for him. Happy hour was $6 a glass of select wine and beer. I kinda went through their wine and beer lists, and their beer list had me interested. I need to come back again for a beer. Also ordered a flatbread to share since we wanted to snack on something small before dinner. Got the italian meat flatbread and it was sooo good. Loved the charcuterie and the mozzarella cheese pull! I give this place 3stars because the wine was actually good but the service was just ok. When people are new to this establishment as I was but I am a wine enthusiast, the experience speaks volumes. My bf and I both did a flight. The server brought the flight and just placed in front of me and started to walk away. I told him that we each wanted a flight so he brought another one then walked away. Mind you it was not busy. I had to ask for someone to actually explain to me what I was drinking and from what region. I am a wine member at 9 different wineries across the state and Oregon to include, Paso Robles, Napa, Escondido and a new member in Long Beach (not here). I would come back if just for the wine but the lackluster experience will keep me from not rushing back anytime soon. Too many options in my world for a mediocre experience. read more

Not too much to say that hasn't already been said by the other reviewers but I want to give credit where credit is due. This is a great place to meet up with friends and have a few appetizers/small plates and drinks. My favorites were the prosciutto wrapped dates, the crostini and the red sangria. I don't know how many rounds of each (plus two cheese boards with charcuterie, artichoke dip (?), pork belly and two flat breads) the six of us had but almost $300 later (plus a $50+ tip) we were all satisfied. My only grip is that the premium cheese board costs more but I didn't really see too much of a difference besides the honey. Will definitely be back and recommend this place to others. read more

Came here on a lovely Saturday afternoon to have a refreshing cocktail after a long drive. This place did not disappoint. They are back up to 5 stars, baby! Here's why: After my last review, Mark, one of the owners, sent me a message saying that he'd read my review and wholeheartedly agreed with my assessment about the meatballs being overpriced. He explained that they were experimenting with some new items and were obviously still working out the kinks, and that he appreciated my comments so they could continue to make improvements for their customers. I really liked that they are responsive to what people say about them and use that to better their establishment. So when I came back a few weeks later, I was welcomed heartily by Mark and he let me know that they've made some adjustments. He offered me a complimentary order of meatballs to see how I liked them. Now they are 3 meatballs for $7, which I thought was a much better deal, especially since the meatballs were still the same size. They were herby and delicious, and they got my thumbs up. We were still in time for happy hour so we had a couple of flatbreads and wine, and I also got an order of braised pork belly off their regular menu--so melt-in-your-mouth and delectable! Happy Hour: Monday - Friday from 4-7pm & Saturday from 12-7pm. I never noticed there were so many cute restaurants down on Linden! A colleague of mine suggested District Wine for our post work happy hour group hangout Thursday evening. We made reservations the morning of for 8. We were seated off in a separate room, perfect for 8 close to the back/restrooms. Perfect spot! Waiters and waitresses were all very friendly throughout our stay and made sure everything was okay more than once. We opened up several tabs which made it a lot easier to pay the bill. House Domestic Sparkling ($6): Almost tastes like champagne and apple cider mixed into one delicious drink! I absolutely love my wine bubbly. Wasn't a huge fan of their daily flight choices so we had a custom wine tasting by mark. Yippppee -- plus a "guess the Syrah" (2$ discount if we got it right!) game that literally had us tasting, googling, tasting, tasting, n then failing completely Hahaa -- but, kept us entertained for a good 20 min. Lots of street parking available around the area, most of which is free after 6pm on weekdays so you still have a one hour window to hit their happy hour which runs till 7. glasses of wine 5$ n some ok-ish food for 5 to 7$. Pea tapenade sounded interesting but i, for whatever reason, imagined it to be a warm item so was surprised when it was cold. The thing they call flat bread is really just a mini pizza. Tasted as you'd expect a place that doesn't realllly serve food to taste... But it'll do if you're starved n too lazy to go somewhere else. I'll stop whining about the food now since its a wine bar -- not a whine bar. If you're nearby, It's a cool lil place (totally chill, perfection for post work catching up w friends) so just come drink, eat elsewhere.. I finally finally had the opportunity to try District Wine. It's been on my radar since I moved into the area and I finally had the chance to check it out with one of my friends for a girls night. With COVID there was no indoor dining and the windows were boarded up but we greatly enjoyed our experience. There was a little "reserved" sign on our table with my name when we arrived. I had made same day reservations. Cute touch of service that I appreciated. They are still offering a happy hour menu which was great! Lite snacks a wines at a discount. We went with their featured trio flight ($14), featuring a white blend, a red blend, and a cabernet franc served in generous-sized stemless wine glasses; however, they'll provide a flight of varietals to suit one's taste, as well. Happy Hour (Monday through Friday: 4:00-7:00, AND Saturday: 12:00-7:00) features attractive and reasonably-priced menu items, such as $7 flatbread (we ordered the Sundried Tomato & Artichoke and the District Margherita; both were OK -- sufficed to satisfy our hunger at the time), and $5 wines. I recently visited this lovely place on a romantic date with my man. It had all the things that I get excited about ... wine, tasty menu items to nosh on, a quaint atmosphere, great service and live music! I kicked things off with a Riesling and later moved on to a red. I was a bit unsure which I wanted to try, but luckily our waitress was amazing and suggested bringing a couple for me to try based on what I said I liked. I settled on the Talbott Kali Hard Pinot Noir which was quite enjoyable. And the pièce de résistance was the band! I wish I could remember the singer's name, but she and her small band performed everything from Emily King and Amy Winehouse to Chaka Khan and Alicia Keys, and she had a really amazing voice. What a treat! As for the food, we ordered the meatballs, the gorgonzola and pineapple flatbread and the pulled pork sliders. Came here to have drinks and some appetizers. The ambiance is nice and lately it's been busy. The service was slow and they could have used at least two other servers.
