I also loved the Hong Kong milk tea that actually tasted like HK milk tea... way better than Boba Guys' version. We made the trek over to the shop, and after trying to order for 10 mins, the cashier's card payment froze after I inserted my credit card and the cashier and the other staff member couldn't fix it. I've never had these Japanese sandos but I decided to order one from here via Doordash and boy was it delicious! The bread was fluffy and the egg salad base was one of the best I've had! I also got the Sunset which was good but you really have to mix the drink so it's not too saturated. The popcorn chicken, i know some reviews really liked that they're big pieces but I don't really like the massive pieces. I do like that it's not super battered but i wish it had smaller chunks so there's more seasoning with meat ratio. I would order the egg sandwich sando over and over again! This place has a simple charm to it. The space itself has changed over many times over the the last few years. I hope District Tea is here for the long haul. It was one of those rare hot San Francisco days, when I decided to forgo a real meal and have a cold drink. I ordered the coconut mango drink. I greatly appreciated the amount of frozen mango chucks being blended before my eyes. It tasted strongly of coconut milk and not overwhelmingly sweet. My boyfriend and I went on a picnic at Dolores Park with District Tea's picnic pack. In our pack ($30): Mixed Onigiri, which were both flavorful, however dry and fell apart in our hands easily. We got the potato croquettes, which were also dry and didn't have much flavor. The Katsu Sando was the real winner, as it was extremely yummy and well made. The drinks were a big let down though. I got the Hong Kong Milk Tea, which I could tell was high quality tea, but VERY watered down. My boyfriend got the Hojicha Milk Tea, which he also agreed would've been super good if it wasn't so watered down as well. However, I think it's a really good deal for all of the food you get and how close it is to the park, but the drinks could've been better. I'm very picky with milk tea and District does a great job by producing a strong tea flavor while keeping sweetness at a good level, and not too sweet. So far we've tried Jasmine Milk Tea and Hojicha (each with grass jelly on the side). Both are great but my favorite now is Hojicha. This is an awesome new addition to the Mission. You can tell the owners put a ton of effort into their products. You can really taste the quality of the tea and the freshness of the ingredients in the food. They're all organic and all natural - no cutting corners here! They also have some pretty unique items like fresh onigiri and magonadas. My personal favorites are the watermelon green tea (you can actually taste the tea), thai tea (best I have ever had from any boba spot), and the crab onigiri (you really taste the crab and they're generous with the filling). As an SF native who has been drinking boba for 20 years, this was the worst jasmine milk tea I've tried in a long time. Tea is watered down and even worse, has an overwhelming aftertaste of tap water. The HK milk tea also tasted watered down somehow despite being dark and having good HK milk tea flavor when it first hits your mouth. We had their mung bean milk tea and Thai green milk tea delivered via Doordash a while ago and they were quite good, so I'm not sure what's going on with the inconsistency. This is for my order via grubhub. Boba texture is great, very similar to the consistency you get at Boba guys. Nice chew, firm and not soggy. The drinks were interesting and is what keeps my rating for this place high. Lots to choose from. I got the Mungbean latte and their seasonal drink (forgot what it's called.. golden gate maybe) that was jasmine green tea with watermelon and lychee. Most places tend to over sweeten their drinks for me so I thought it would be safer to select less sweet. Oddly couldn't designate percentages on grubhub. Not the fault of the boba shop. This place is consistently rated as one of the top boba places in San Francisco so my expectations was pretty high. The drinks were alright, the only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five was because I selected normal ice and got what looked like more ice. This really diluted the drink to the point I could barely taste the jasmine tea. The sweetness amount was just right for me but my boyfriend thought it was pretty bland. That being said, I would probably have given this 5 stars if it wasn't too diluted. Perhaps they add more ice for delivery orders? I don't know. But keep that in mind when ordering. Heard of this place from tiktok and when we had plans for a day at the beach in the city, we knew we had to come here for their picnic deal. I ordered online day of and was able to choose "ASAP" or choose a specific time for pick up after selecting checkout. The picnic deal gives you so much bang for your buck; for under $30 you can choose from so many snack and entre options along with a drink of your choice.. per person. We were intrigued by their selection, so decided to order the spam masubi separately to get a little of everything. Parking can always be tricky in the mission district, but luckily the day we went we were able to find parking and walk up to the store from a block away. The order pick up is through a "window" and the staff greeted us, asked the name for pickup, and made our drinks live, which I appreciated so that they weren't watered down by ice at pickup. We had the hojicha with oat milk and it was just okay. I personally really love a good hojicha-- the smooth, warm, nutty flavor of leaves roasted over charcoal makes it one of my favorite teas. The initial flavor I had through my sip was one of sweetness from the sugar that was used. The second flavor I got was the bitterness from tea that had been brewed (in my opinion) a bit too long, bringing out some of undesirable tannins, which doesn't feel like it should be happening in a green tea... The tea flavor was more reminiscent of a black tea to me than a green tea. Oat milk normally makes things a bit creamier, but I personally think the hojicha with oat milk would have benefited from some sort of milk foam (or thicker milk product) in order to bring out the lighter roasted flavors of the hojicha. They also offer these 64 ounce glass jars of drink of your choice to enjoy (for up to a week!) at home. They retail for $22.00...which I guess is about four 16 ounce teas. read more

We got the picnic box and took it to Dolores Park (only around an 8 minute walk away) to eat. The box comes with a Japanese sandwich, two snacks (we got salmon onigiri and takoyaki), and two drinks. It was a lot of food and definitely worth it! We upgraded to the katsu sandwich for an extra $4, which we thought was worth it. The katsu was perfectly fried and the bread was nice and soft. The onigiri and takoyaki were also super flavorful! The drinks were also good - I'd recommend the sunset district because there was a strong tea flavor and it wasn't too sweet. I was debating whether it's unfair to rate a boba shop based on their shitty food, but like... they could just not sell food if they don't know wtf they're doing. I had the mung bean latte (caffeine free) with boba, and it was above average. I think we disagree on what "less ice" looks like, because I still had to scoop some out even after some of it melted during delivery. I also ordered the pork Katsu musubi which sounds really delicious no? The pork was so overcooked and tough, my jaw hurt from chewing. It was almost inedible, but I hate wasting food so I still ate it. I can't remember the last time I suffered so much while eating something. I guess at the very least, pork is better overcooked than undercooked. IMO they should just focus on their drinks.
