Tucked in amongst the industrial complexes in South Nashville just off of the busy Thompson Lane, District Coffee offers a chill refuge for those seeking a quiet coffee for one, or a space to co-work or socialize with a group. It took me a few years to make it to District Coffee, and now that I have made it, I can't stop going! I am a classic coffee shop guy, and a classic iced coffee guy, so the simple pleasures meet a simple space when I pop in here. While I love sampling their seasonal flavors, they always create magic no matter the season, I normally go for the cold brew with a splash of almond milk and an addition of the sugar free vanilla syrup. Simple perfection! They have a good-sized food menu with several items from meat pies, sandwiches, waffles and even tots. I have had the loaded tots, and while an odd combination with coffee, they were quite tasty! My usual is a pastry of some kind, whatever catches my eye in the case when I get to the counter is what usually ends up on my plate. The space is well laid out and features a few spaces that each have their own vibes from the small tables for those working or studying, to the window counter, the backroom with a communal table and a couch and they even have a boardroom that is rentable for those super official meetings. I normally tuck myself in the backroom, in one of the plush side chairs and hang out for a bit. Service is okay here, honestly probably my only critique. Level of service is definitely the least consistent in my visits so far. Never enough to keep me away, but definitely enough for me to notice. Overall, I am a fan of District Coffee, and when I find myself cruising around this part of South Nashville, you best believe I will be swinging by.

Visited this week for a Yelp Event and absolutely loved it! District Coffee is such a great spot to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a light bite. I tried the pumpkin spice latte, the Garden Tots (with avocado, sprouts, and pickled onion), and the Caprese sandwich, everything was great! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, they explained me the menu, specially the seasonal drinks! The space has a warm, welcoming vibe, perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. They even have meeting rooms available for rent, which is a nice bonus. Plus, free parking makes it super convenient! Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

The workers were so nice! I got the loaded tots and the pumpkin spice latte and both were delicious!! It is the perfect spot to work from or grab something quick. Will definitely be back

Lots of work spaces and seating here! Location is a little further outside the downtown/tourist realm which makes it a great spot for locals to meet up. The baristas were the friendliest I have encountered at a coffee shop in ages which made me feel so welcome! Loved their seasonal drink selections and crispy loaded tots. Totally worth driving outside of downtown to get to and lots of free parking available

Farm Fresh Tots and Good Grief

This breakfast and drink combo was AMAZING ! I ate Farm fresh tots and drank the Seasonal "Good Grief" (non-caffeinated) both were delicious, warm and really put me in a great mood. The service was just as warm and welcoming as the food. The music in the restaurant was Retro Motown/RNB hits WHICH I LOVE !! It's a very casual place !!! I'd DEFINITELY recommend coming here !!

Stopped in after hearing some great things and definitely have to agree. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Asked for their recommendations and I have to say they were SPOT ON. I ordered Linus' blanket (maple latte) and their avocado tots. Absolutely would recommend. I wish I had more time to eat there because it had a really cool vibe to it. I enjoyed it all so much I ordered a muffin to take home for my girlfriend. Absolutely will be back!

District Coffee is a great spot for anyone who loves trying something new. Their seasonal coffees are always creative, well-balanced, and thoughtfully made. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu that keeps you coming back.

This is a cool spot to post up and work for a little bit with lots of seating. The tea I got was pretty good. They have a nice selection of pastries as well for you to snack on and a big conference room in case you want to host a meeting there. The staff are awesome and quick, and there's a very laidback energy here.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this spot yet as it's on my frequent rotation. The homemade vanilla syrup is my fav! It's the kind of place where you can actually get things done as it's never too loud, always a seat open, and perfect for deep focus or a laid-back biz chat. The menu keeps evolving, but everything I've tried has been solid. Bonus: plenty of parking! The staff is great, and they're in the middle of a rebrand with a merch sale going on. Worth checking out!

I had a few hours to kill while waiting for my cousin's plane to land. I was looking for a quiet coffee shop to have a cold brew & catch up on my Yelp reviews. I found this little gem about 15 min from the airport. Quiet, clean, plenty of parking, & delicious coffee! The baristas were friendly & skilled, and my coffee was perfect! There is plenty of seating, plugs & free WiFi. I highly recommend The District!!

The shoppe is lovely, with good Wi-Fi, but the coffee isn't very good, and the breakfast items are quite poor in substance and quality.

I have tried their regular sourdough loaf, which is really good, but my current favorite is their olive & herb sourdough. Having formerly sampled their baked goods and baguette, we approached with some expectation, for those had proved most agreeable. Upon our arrival, Darcy and I were informed that the supply of pastries was nearly exhausted: a circumstance I bore with easy composure, as we intended only for coffee. Yet thereafter, I regret to say, the experience fell somewhat short. My cappuccino was deficient in froth and served with less warmth than one might wish, rendering it rather uninspiring. The interior, though neat, is so spare and restrained in its decoration as to verge upon the austere, and lacks that ease and comfort which invite one to linger. It is not, I think, among the more hospitable establishments we have encountered in Nashville. Though I would not hesitate to return for their baked offerings, I cannot suppose it would become a favored place for repose or refreshment.

I was not super impressed with their drip coffee on my first try there, and the blueberry muffin was good, but extremely sugary and too sweet. I cannot evaluate their espresso based drinks but it would probably have been a better choice than their regular coffee which I found somewhat bitter. On my second visit I opted instead for the fruit toast and some green tea and had a much better experience. The toast was fantastic and the green tea excellent with attention to service (see photo). They have several interesting and original breakfast items on the menu and I would recommend trying these instead of the baked pastries. Overall a very nice spot if you are in the neighborhood.

It feels historic in the best way, like it's lived a few lives (old house shoe repair shop now a coffee spot that somehow makes you want to slow down and stay awhile). We didn't try any food this time, but based on the long line of people happily waiting for it, I'm taking that as a strong sign. The coffee, though? Legit. You can tell the beans are fresh, smooth, clean, and more "grown-up, sophisticated coffee flavor" than sugary coffee dessert. We ordered an iced caramel latte and an espresso martini (hold the cream) and both were excellent. The latte was balanced and smooth, and the espresso actually came through (not hidden under caramel). The espresso martini was the surprise star: they add an orange liqueur that gives it a little citrus lift, which makes it taste brighter and more interesting than the standard version. Naturally, we left with a bag of their espresso beans because now we're convinced we can recreate that martini at home. Will it be as good as Frothy Monkey's? Probably not. But we're going to try... you know, for science. If you like places with personality, history, and coffee that tastes like someone actually cares, this one's top of the list.
