We used Distinctive Exteriors for our landscaping. They were fantastic. First off, Edgar is amazing. Personable, knowledgeable and very nice to work with and very skilled with landscape design. The workers were incredible also. We get a bit picky when we have landscaping projects and we asked for several changes. Also as anyone knows, bigger projects always have some issues. Ours were small, but they listened and resolved every one of them. I have yet to have a project not have a few small issues. They were responsive and awesome to immediately address any concerns. We hired Distinctive Exteriors to build our pool and complete the landscaping for our new construction home and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Before meeting Edgar, we obtained three quotes from well-known and reputable pool companies in Las Vegas. Edgars' design matched exactly what we were looking for and, in our opinion, looked significantly better that the other proposals we received. Our meetings with Edgar were always productive. He listened carefully to what we wanted and was responsive throughout the planing process. His pricing was also significantly more competitive that the other quotes we received for similar design and scope of work. Once construction began, the process went smoothly. In several areas, Edgar and his team exceeded our expectations. The pool equipment installed was top of the line Pentair and the service after installation has been exceptional. For the first month after start up, someone came regularly to help with the pool set up and to make sure everything was operating properly. We also have direct communication with Ron who is extremely knowledgeable about pools and Pentair systems. If we send him a text with a question, he responds almost immediately. We have never experienced this level of post-installation support with a pool project before. The subcontractors who built the patio and insalled the porcelain pavers did a phenominal job. Comunication between Edgar, the supervisors, and the crews was excellent throughout the project. Calls and texts were returned promptly, and any concerns we raised were addressed quickly. As with any construction project, there are always small items that need adjustment. What impressed us most is that Edgar and his supervisors addressed these changes immediately once they were brought to their attention. One of Edgars previous clients told us this before we hired him- and it proved to be absolutely true. During construction we also made several changes to the landscaping plan, including requesting more mature trees and palms. Edgar was very accommodating, and the final landscaping turned out even better than we originally envisioned. Our backyard truly went from pure dirt to a beautiful desert tropical retreat. Edgar and his crew performed outstanding hardscape and landscape work for me. The project was large and involved the removal of decorative rocks, excavating, grading and compacting soil in preparation for creating walkways, patio and courtyard both comprised of pavers, turf, ground drains, plants, palm trees, night lights, pony wall, and new steps made of pavers. When the project was completed, I addressed a few minor adjustments I wanted the crew to do. In every occasion, Edgar had these adjustments completed. Since the completion of the work, I routinely receive many compliments from neighbors and visitors attracted to my patio and courtyard. All the credit belongs to Distinctive Exteriors. We started our bidding process back in March and met with Phil. We had received a few other bids and decided to go with Distinctive Exteriors because we felt their pricing was the most fair (not necessarily the cheapest). Over the next few weeks, we had gone back and forth with Phil and Edgar to design our new backyard, which was a complete remodel. We then met in April to finalize material options (which we felt were high quality) and have them complete and submit our HOA paperwork. We received HOA approval in mid-May and they were not able to start until mid-July because of delays caused by weather and COVID in previous months; however, we were assured that the wait would be worth it. Construction took about a month. We dealt with Kevin and Roberto throughout construction. Kevin was more than accommodating on several occasions and we cannot compliment Roberto and his crew enough. The attention to detail was fantastic and overall customer satisfaction was paramount. We've also been assured that should any issues arise (even outside of the stated warranty), they would stand by their work. The wait WAS worth it and even though our design wasn't the most complex (pavers, artificial turf, water feature/fountain), it is beautifully done and we love spending time in our new backyard. Phil (owner) came out, for a pool, tile and pavers in our backyard. Spent little time, and said he was leaving town and hoped to get back to use before leaving. (2 weeks away). Gave us a lump sum quote w/ No breakdown, as we had requested. Over twice as high as others. I asked for break down again, which he now declined our project altogether. (see below) People; There are better and more responsible contractors out there, this man appeared lazy and upset we didn't take his twice as high bid, that appeared to have no effort whatsoever put into it. We had interviewed 4 companies and was referred to DE from my pool guy. From the start Phil was not like the other company reps. He was helpful full of knowledge and most importantly for my wife and I he was patient and willing to help us through the whole process. We were remodeling a pool and not just a new build in a Vegas dirt yard so we were expecting lots of extra stress and problems. When the crew first started we were put right at ease. The crew was professional clean and more importantly were there when they said they would be. There are a lot of pool builders out there but if you want professionalism, reliability, a schedule that is real and not based on what the pool co feels like doing that week; then Phil and distinctive exteriors is your choice. Try dealing with couple others first and then give Phil a try. Compare the bullshit from the other companies to Phil's honesty and you will not be disappointed. Remember in Vegas you get what you pay for. Side note. A friend of mine started a new pool build out at the same time I started my rebuild. He chose another contractor (Laguna) who started doing the raiders presidents pool. Mine has been completed for two months and his is still on hold. He has a hole in the ground and I am swimming. Kevin represented the company. He listened to our requests, designed exactly what we wanted. He and his crew were always there as promised. They subcontracted laying the porcelain pavers and the sub did a great job. We wanted a few things changed during construction, no problem, it just got done. Extremely happy with the final result. What an amazing experience we had with DE. From initial call which Phil was the only contractor I looked up who responded. I contacted Phil in January and they were slammed as are most landscape designers that time of year. However we made the appointment and got written free estimates within a few days. We agreed upon a date to start. They actually were able to accommodate us earlier than expected. They also finished on time. Phil came by for a final inspection. It was a truly great experience. Was taking bids for a pool and landscaping job. Called Phil for an estimate. He hardly spent any time measuring the backyard. Had his admin get my email and a few days later, emailed me to say he wasn't interested in the job with no explanation. This leads me to assume that he's afraid to compete against his competitors or he didn't need the business or money. This is in response to Phil's comments... I find it funny that you decided to reply only AFTER my negative review. Also, we never discussed a time frame as it is the middle of December and I wouldn't be able to enjoy the pool anytime soon. As far as a budget, we hardly discussed it. You asked how much I wanted to spend and I gave you a number. It wasn't what I was willing to spend. It's called negotiating. I had a complete backyard renovation that took over 3 weeks and 8 guys only to find out that they did not put anything underneath the rocks to prevent weeds and now my backyard is infested with weeds. I spent over $25,000 to get shoddy workmanship. Every landscaper I have hired to remove the weeds said that Distinctive Exteriors should have put something between the dirt and the rocks to prevent all of the weeds but they didn't. Buyer beware! This is impossible to fix permanently. read more

A word of praise for the amazing landscape plan executed by Distinctive Exteriors. Our front, back and courtyards were barren and simply awful until Distinctive Exteriors came on the scene. My backyard, (looked like a prison yard),has been transformed into a charming intimate garden filled with large trees, shrubs, and flowering bushes. I cannot speakvto their actual lanscape service as my experience never got that far. Although the few staff that I did talk to were curtious I did not feel they were completely up front and honest. The owner came out to myhouse to giving me an estimate. Keep in mind my backyard is TINY, I thought the quote I was given was a bit high. When I expressed this concern the owner basically told me to pound sand and have another company do the job. Personally I dont see how that is professional in the least. I was told that they have a price minimum and my yard would not reach that. If you know you have this policy why not tell me upfront instead of wasting my time?
