my honest review: this restaurant, though beautiful, served only 5 noodles per pasta dish. a travesty! the chicken on their most famous - Marco's Summer Chicken Delight - seemed like it may have been made from one of those bags of frozen pre-cooked chicken dishes. another great sorrow! unfortunately due to the lack of piles of pasta on our plates, we won't be returning. in the event that we do, we will not order the fake chicken. my suggestion - rebrand! rebrand and make a menu that offers oodles of noodles and all will be well. best wishes, linda read more

I apologized for being so close to closing but they wouldn't hear if it and were so kind and welcoming. They gave us a table and the ambiance and staff were friendly. I am vegetarian but my husband was looking for a Rib-Eye and we heard it was great here. My daughter wanted a side of meatballs for the Children's spaghetti and they were very accommodating. I had the tour of Italy which was Fettuccine, Spaghetti and Eggplant Parm. We had Calamari for an Appetizer. They also deserve Fresh Bread Loaves. Our main courses were Outstanding. The Marinara sauce and Eggplant Parmesan, Rib-Eye was Excellent! This place was incredible! My boyfriend has Celiac and cannot have any gluten. Not only was Deanna our waitress knowledgeable about gluten intolerance, she was also SUPER on top of it and even was excited to offer him a gluten free desert! We ate here on our anniversary and she made the entire experience INCREDIBLE. She also gave us excellent advice on where to see sights in town and was just the absolute best waitress I've had in a solid 20 years. Thoroughly disappointed with my meal. I ordered take out, and was so upset to see the size and quality of my meal. The piece of salmon I ordered was tiny and served with some small slices of onion and tomato that the menu describes as "sautéed vegetables." So here's Distasios version of a 21 dollar salmon pictured below (picture doesn't even do it justice) . Also served with a tiny piece of bread for an overall 70 dollar meal. For a 21 dollar salmon put a carb source in the actual meal and some real vegetables. Ps. We went to this restaurant on November 8, 2021. There was a (reasonable) long wait, as the owner explained to us that he did not have enough cooks available that day. The food was so good that it was worth the wait. Judging by the quality of the food, I can only speculate that the "cook" is really a professional chef, highly trained. Whoever was doing the cooking is a genius. The food was superb and the place was spotless. The servers fawned over you and paid attention to detail. The owner comes to your table and speaks with you. We live in Carmel but decided to take the lovely drive down route 1 by Big Sur and by San Simeon, Hearst Castle, and to the seaside village of Morro Bay right before San Luis Obispo. I looked for an Italian restaurant and I always like ones that are family owned because I know the recipes usually came from Grandmother and/or Mother. What a wonderful surprise because we found the food here as good as anything on the Monterey peninsula and at half price. Nice too that the owner who is also the cook came out frequently to our table to ensure that everything was OK. His family from Avellino, Italy would be very proud of what he is serving to his customers. I advise anyone going down route one or even on 101 to come West to Morro Bay & eat here and you will feel like you're in Italy and saved the plane fare. First we needed try a meatball....nostalgic for me as it reminded me of my Mother's. We each had a very generous dinner salad and split a spaghetti and clams and loved that there were fresh clams and chopped clams too. Offered in a white or red sauce but they very nicely chopped a tomato for me to add to it. Then we had the most delicious Chicken Marsala with vegetables and spaghetti in an awesome Marsala sauce. In Italy there is an expression " Fare La Scarpetta" (little shoe). The bread is used to scoop up the sauce and we were doing that frantically with the Meatball sauce, Clam broth and Marsala sauce. Many in Italia consider "La Scarpetta" the best part of the meal. Despite being full as we couldn't stop eating the delicious bread & then we had a recommended Tiramisu which translates to toss me in the air like a "Pick me up" and it was so light and welcoming that it truly did pick me up after some generous pourings of wine. The ambiance, Italian music, waitress and owner with the food made it a wonderful experience. Do yourselves a favor and go here. Several of my family and I had dinner at Distasio's last week. Wasn't sure what to expect but I was thoroughly impressed. The servers were very friendly and courteous, the service was excellent and the food......oh, man, the food. The presentation was first rate. I had Lasagna that was incredible! The others in my party had a variety, including Ravioli, Spaghetti and meatballs as well as Chicken Parmigiana. Everyone raved about their dinners and were completely stuffed when we left. My only problem with eating here is that I don't live in Morro Bay any longer and I'll have to wait until the next visit to have dinner at Distasio's. read more

We ordered the shrimp Caesar and a meatball for starters. Chicken parm and the grilled halibut for the main and the spumoni ice cream cake for dessert. It was the best food we had on our whole trip! Our server was awesome and helpful with her favorite dishes. And fast and friendly service. The only negative I could say is the decor is... well, it's kinda weird. But I dgaf about that. I think what happened here on this Saturday night was the restaurant wasn't prepared for the number of customers. They were kind, but we had to ask several times for bread. Placed our order and waited quite a while for our meal to arrive.. There was a good 10 minutes plus between the first dinners delivered to our table to the final plate which was spaghetti and meatballs . Additionally those of us who waited to get fresh Parmesan cheese...we had to ask several times for this ... and when the waitress came she did not know how to shave the cheeses and went back to the kitchen 3 times to figure out the contraption... Our server said they weren't allowed to light them because of COVID. She did light ours when we asked. We ordered bruschetta, the shrimp scampi and the half and half butternut squash ravioli and spinach tortellini carbonara . Never had bruschetta that involves cooked tomatoes on French bread. Not our favorite. My husband's Shrimp Scampi was ok. The shrimp were well cooked and plentiful. Pretty skimpy portion of pasta though. My butternut squash ravioli was forgettable. The sauce was made with dried, ground sage. Usually it is made with fresh sage. The spinach and cheese tortellini carbonara tasted fine, but bore little resemblance to any carbonara I have ever had. More of a cream sauce. No egg. Which is fine, but why call it carbonara? Our server was pleasant and attentive. Overall, a fine meal but nothing stood out as better than fine. read more

As a food delivery driver, I kept walking into Distasio's and kept smelling mouth watering food. I grabbed up my husband and went there to have dinner. I was greeted and sat immediately. Hot bread, butter and cold water was placed on the table and we ordered a bottle of local wine. They have a extensive menu but we decided on a calzone, cannoli, manicotti and bruschetta appetizer. We came back to try the pizza! Wow! We got the gluten free pepperoni pizza. It was handmade and absolutely amazing. The crust was perfect. We also tried the Marcos Summer Chicken Pasta Gluten Free.
