We've been searching for a go-to pizza place in the Cayucos/Morro Bay area for some time and every place we try haven't quite hit the mark. Alas, our experience at Surfside Pizza was no different. Here is what we noticed: - We ordered our pizza by phone...trying to find a web site was impossible, and every menu posted online was out of date. - I drove over at around 6pm in the dark and actually passed the place because the only lighted sign was the "Open" sign in the window...the signage for the shop was not lit up at all. - After waiting a few minutes, I got my pizza and drove home. As other reviewers have noted, there are several tables inside the shop, but it doesn't look like they allow/encourage/enable (??) eating on site. - We had ordered a half Margarita and a half Meat large pizza. The pizza was thin crust and while it was tasty, the toppings are bit skimpy in my opinion, e.g., the meat pizza was mostly pepperoni with scattered bits of sausage and non-existent amounts of ham. - Spent about $30 once tax included. Bottom line: Sadly, we will have to continue our search for a local pizza place... read more

Was in the mood for pizza, along with wanting to try something a bit different... So I did! I ordered the Atomic pizza because it has Mandarin Oranges on it, that's different. After going back & forth, I ordered it & glad I did! The pizza itself is good, and the mandarin orange adds a nice little sweet flavor, which all goes together well! It's not overpowering, so you don't have to worry about that. Looking for something a bit different? Try this out, won't be disappointed! Don't let the unassuming exterior fool ya. This spot has an old school surfer clubhouse feel with a decent view of the rock of morrow bay. Who I believe was the owner made our pizza and we sat while he made it. He reminds me of what you'd think a New York pizza owner would be, straight to the point but puts everything he has to say into his pies! The pizza was great, the crust was nice (not too thick) and the balance of cheese and sauce was perfect. Even though we had the pizza to go it smelled so good we ended up pulling over not too far from the restaurant to park and to have a slice, verified by the pic I took from the car (that pizza did not survive the drive back!) Pizza is our family's go too so we make a point to try at least one place in each town we visit and this place didn't disappoint! We were visiting from the Bay area and we are still taking about how good the pizza was. We plan on visiting the area again soon and we're looking forward going back! J read more

Something is definitely off here... we stopped in last month on a Saturday night, the pizza was really quite good but when we pulled up in front of it, we wondered if it was closed. We still wondered even when we walked in. The lights were off, there was a young fellow filling small containers of ranch who quickly said there's no table service, there was a pile of order slips on the counter, and an older fellow making pizza in the back. The phone was ringing off the hook and the young fellow was telling people the wait was 60-90 minutes. We ordered a small margarita pie to go, sat at one of the sad little tables looking out over Morro Bay, and waited... there is SO much opportunity for this place to be awesome, but right now, it appears to need help. read more

If you're looking for GREAT pizza, this is the place! That said, if you're hoping to sit down with friends, enjoy a beer (or in my case, a water), and hang out over your meal--this may not be the ideal spot. We didn't realize until after we ordered that there's no indoor seating; the dining room has remained closed since COVID, nearly five years ago. There were however, two picnic tables outside. Also, as some reviews mentioned, they don't provide plates. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Still, the pizza was excellent. The gal at the counter was super friendly, and even the owner making the pizzas gave us a smile. Probably calling ahead and bringing it home (or back to the hotel in my case), would have been best. All in all: amazing pizza, warm service, but not much in the way of atmosphere, which was a bummer because there were great views of the water from the dining room. Glad we went! read more

If your ever in Morrow Bay, Ca. and you're in the mood for pizza, SKIP THIS PLACE!! First off,it's a one mane show. The owner (I'm taking) was the only one there making the pies so the wait was 50 - 60 minutes long to get your order. The place has a dining area, but he didn't allow to dine in, which was alright by me and my family, cause the placed smelled like some sort of mildew. We ordered a half combo half cheese and the combo was nothing like the picture. It only had some olives and barely some mushrooms on top of the pepperoni. The cheese half wasn't to brag about either!! The crust was burnt and it just wasn't worth the $38 bucks and the long wait. Next time I'll be dining at the Roundtable pizza place down the road. P.S. No dine in, but yummy yummy pizza!! Crust was delicious-soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, really flavorful. Sauce was great-tangy, tomatoey, thick but not too thick. While my boyfriend and I were in town we were looking for a spot to eat and we stumbled upon Surfside Pizza, we had planned to eat there but once we arrived we noticed there were no patrons inside so we decided to get our food to go as it seemed they weren't allowing guest to dine in, which was totally fine. We ordered our food and waited about 15-20 minutes, no big deal especially because the pizza was delicious! I'm a pizza girlie and this pizza definitely satisfied my cravings. We got both the hawaiian and bbq chicken pizza, my only complaint was that I wanted to swap the ham for chicken but they said they couldn't do that as the chicken was already prepped for the bbq chicken pizza which I understand, prepping helps make the process go faster but some of the chicken could have been left as is for instances of customization but either was both pizzas were really good but I definitely recommend the bbq chicken pizza if I had to choose. Other then that, the woman who took our order and the man who made it seemed really nice and friendly. Next time we're in town, we'll definitely pick up another pie. read more

The quality if the pizza isnt the issue but the accuracy of them fulfilling the order. At 7pm we ordered 12" Atomic and 16" Combo. What we got was a very salty Combo bc there was NO sausage but seemed like extra pepperoni. The Atomic was 16" instead of 12". They only charged us for the 12" price but clearly there are issues in getting the orders correct. read more

We were late getting into town and worried that we wouldn't get dinner. Even though he was closing in 30 minutes, he fit us in. We had a lovely gluten free pepperoni pizza, a cheese pizza with sausage, and a plain pepperoni. The pizzas hit the spot. The leftovers made an excellent next-morning, lazy breakfast to boot. We came down for Morro for the weekend and were craving some good old fashioned mom & pop style pizza. We decided to give Surfside Pizza a try & we were impressed! We showed up later in the evening and the wait for a pizza to go was reasonable. The restaurant itself had a nice vibe, the seating area was cozy & clean. It was neat to be able to watch the pizzas being prepared. There were two workers, one serving orders & cashiering and another preparing the pizzas. They were both kind and welcoming. The pizza itself was delicious! The crust was thin, the sauce was robust & the toppings plentiful. We asked for sides of ranch, which were the delicious style common with pizzerias. The distance from the hotel we stayed at near the Bay was also a huge plus. Definitely give this place a try! read more

I'll give them 2 stars which is kind of stretching it ... the service wasn't great ... they have a dine in area but were told they don't do dine in only take out ... so agreed to the take out and pizza took forever to to be made ... and finally when the pizzas were done we asked for paper plates since they only do take out ... so you would figure paper plates would be mandatory... but guess not they didn't have those either ... and to be honest the pizza wasn't great ... similar to something you would get at chucky cheese or something... too bad we couldn't find a me n Ed's around . read more

Called in on a Friday night and they seemed really busy and I was told to wait about 45min for my pizza. We ordered a large combo and thought the crust was superb and the ingredients, albeit lacking for a typical combination pizza, tasted really fresh. They are great for being local and accessible but unlike other pizza places, they don't seem to voluntarily offer any napkins, utensils, or condiments.
