Half Margarita Pizza and half Meat Pizza
    John M.

We've been searching for a go-to pizza place in the Cayucos/Morro Bay area for some time and every place we try haven't quite hit the mark. Alas, our experience at Surfside Pizza was no different. Here is what we noticed: - We ordered our pizza by phone...trying to find a web site was impossible, and every menu posted online was out of date. - I drove over at around 6pm in the dark and actually passed the place because the only lighted sign was the "Open" sign in the window...the signage for the shop was not lit up at all. - After waiting a few minutes, I got my pizza and drove home. As other reviewers have noted, there are several tables inside the shop, but it doesn't look like they allow/encourage/enable (??) eating on site. - We had ordered a half Margarita and a half Meat large pizza. The pizza was thin crust and while it was tasty, the toppings are bit skimpy in my opinion, e.g., the meat pizza was mostly pepperoni with scattered bits of sausage and non-existent amounts of ham. - Spent about $30 once tax included. Bottom line: Sadly, we will have to continue our search for a local pizza place...

    Large combo

First time here. Tiny little spot along the highway. We got there a little late and they were already slammed. We ordered a large combo. Thin slice pizza was pretty good.

Was in the mood for pizza, along with wanting to try something a bit different... So I did! I ordered the Atomic pizza because it has Mandarin Oranges on it, that's different. After going back & forth, I ordered it & glad I did! The pizza itself is good, and the mandarin orange adds a nice little sweet flavor, which all goes together well! It's not overpowering, so you don't have to worry about that. Looking for something a bit different? Try this out, won't be disappointed! All in all: Friendly service, good food & can look at the ocean while you eat!

    Pepperoni pizza

I was really happy to see that this North Morro Bay pizza shop was open. It seems like a small family spot, and it has a nice view of the ocean. It is important to note that they take their time: it's not a high volume restaurant, so when I called, my pick-up time was I think 50 minutes. The pizza was excellent. Nice chew and taste on the dough. The toppings, sauce, and cheese were just right in their portions and quality. They were friendly and the pizza was great, I will definitely order from here again!

Cheese pizza by way of car!

Don't let the unassuming exterior fool ya. This spot has an old school surfer clubhouse feel with a decent view of the rock of morrow bay. Who I believe was the owner made our pizza and we sat while he made it. He reminds me of what you'd think a New York pizza owner would be, straight to the point but puts everything he has to say into his pies! The pizza was great, the crust was nice (not too thick) and the balance of cheese and sauce was perfect. Even though we had the pizza to go it smelled so good we ended up pulling over not too far from the restaurant to park and to have a slice, verified by the pic I took from the car (that pizza did not survive the drive back!) Pizza is our family's go too so we make a point to try at least one place in each town we visit and this place didn't disappoint! We were visiting from the Bay area and we are still taking about how good the pizza was. We plan on visiting the area again soon and we're looking forward going back! J

Something is definitely off here... we stopped in last month on a Saturday night, the pizza was really quite good but when we pulled up in front of it, we wondered if it was closed. We still wondered even when we walked in. The lights were off, there was a young fellow filling small containers of ranch who quickly said there's no table service, there was a pile of order slips on the counter, and an older fellow making pizza in the back. The phone was ringing off the hook and the young fellow was telling people the wait was 60-90 minutes. We ordered a small margarita pie to go, sat at one of the sad little tables looking out over Morro Bay, and waited... there is SO much opportunity for this place to be awesome, but right now, it appears to need help.

    Burnt pizza, yuck!
    Jeff W.

My pizzas were burnt and barely edible. They also cost $70 for 2 pizzas. The fact that they let a pizza walk out their door that was literally burnt black shows just how much they care about their customers. Find somewhere else if you're in the area.

Burnt end from the cheese and the combo/ not combo!!

If your ever in Morrow Bay, Ca. and you're in the mood for pizza, SKIP THIS PLACE!! First off,it's a one mane show. The owner (I'm taking) was the only one there making the pies so the wait was 50 - 60 minutes long to get your order. The place has a dining area, but he didn't allow to dine in, which was alright by me and my family, cause the placed smelled like some sort of mildew. We ordered a half combo half cheese and the combo was nothing like the picture. It only had some olives and barely some mushrooms on top of the pepperoni. The cheese half wasn't to brag about either!! The crust was burnt and it just wasn't worth the $38 bucks and the long wait. Next time I'll be dining at the Roundtable pizza place down the road. P.S. I'm being generous with the two stars!!!

Owner cooking the best pizza in town!

We drove by twice and Surfside appears to be out of business. A closed sign and no sign of life.

All these good reviews but my pizza had no flavor, even pepperoni tasted like nothing. I don't trust local reviews of morro bay restaurants.

Looks like a dine-in pizza place but is, in fact, takeout only. There should be signs posted outside the restaurant that say that.

The weather was a bit foggy so we couldn't really see the rock anyway. We had the Burrata appetizer, along with the local oysters on the half shelf. We also had the salmon dish and the lobster linguine. I'd say out of all of that the Burrata was the best part. The servers were nice and joined in our silly jokes and were very accommodating to our seven year old daughter (who also had the salmon. I did not see a kids menu). There's no dedicated parking but there's plenty of street parking around the area. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building with windows facing the ocean, so the name was very fitting. A lot of the seats allowed guests a nice view of the outside/ocean. We were able to get a window seat and was able to enjoy a nice sunset view and take lots of photos by their balcony area. We ordered the halibut, black cod, cioppino, dungeness crab cake, mixed greens and all the dishes were all decent but I can't say I was blown away by any of them. The dishes were on the pricier side as well. Overall the service was good and they were attentive with checking in on us and refilling the water. The only surprising thing about the place was that there was an additional 3% fee on credit card transactions which they apparently indicate on their menu (which I missed), and the waiter didn't mention either, so I was taken back when I saw it on the bill. While I understand they're trying to offset their costs, it is pretty rare these days and I wish the waiter gave us a heads up. Overall, the view was great and the food was decent.

On a quick day trip on a Friday afternoon, we decided to give this place a try. No reservation and were promptly greeted and seated. Although we did not have a full bay view, we had a partial bay view. Some hits and misses with food and service. 1. Bowl of Clam Chowder (no bread bowls available). Chowder was piping hot and had nice pieces of clams (dad got a bit of clam shell..so be careful), celery and potatoes. The chowder was very creamy and not grainy or watery like other locations. I would definitely order again 5/5 2. Fish & Chips: Fresh Pacific cod, lightly breaded, served with house-made tartar sauce. Fish was fried to perfection. 5/5 3. Seafood Pasta: Linguini with jumbo prawns, fresh catch, Cajun cream sauce, garlic bread. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned perfectly 5/5 4. Side of Garlic bread: extremely disappointing. We ordered garlic bread with our chowder, it never came. Waitress decided to serve it with the mains (fish and chips) and we ordered for the entire table and she only brought 2 pieces. 5. Insalata Molina: Mixed greens, arugula, pear, walnuts, crumbled blue cheese, mango vinaigrette. Couldn't tell you if this was any good bc the waitress NEVER brought but charged us for it. She then takes it off the bill and brings me the salad in a Styrofoam container. I told her I didn't want it and put it in my bag. Salad was so soggy (which means the kitchen prepared it and the waitress forgot to serve it) I would not order and do not recommend ordering it bc it was the size of a side salad definitely not worth the price point. 6. Mocktail Lavender lemonade: definitely not balanced, was pretty tart and again the price point was off. It was about 8oz lemonade for $12 They do offer a nice selection of wines. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant and are public restrooms, pretty dirty and out of stock. Although our service was a big miss, I do recommend the food items we ordered. I did take a star off due to the service.

The bread was still SO DRY that I couldn't like the sandwich at all. I did order a small pizza and a hotdog. These are new to the menu since I was there last. After waiting an incredibly long amount of time to get my order, I was at least happy with the pizza and hot dog. Glad to have a hot dog option next to the theatre so I can sneak one in!! I ordered extra cheese on the pizza but I didn't need to. I am happy to upgrade my star rating to 3-stars for those two new items. I am picky about the bread for my sandwiches and honestly the only one I liked was when you had the sliced wheat bread option available one day as a fluke.
