We went here the other day and each of us got a slice of cheese pizza and a cheese bread stick thing for dipping (I wanna say it was called the Little Dipper or something?) The cheese pizza was good but not great. I think it may have been under the warmer for a while, but that's the risk you take with by-the-slice pizza. The bread sticks however were fantastic! It came with 4 dipping sauces. I subbed the hot sauce for a second marinara and the marinara, ranch, and hot honey were all great. We sat at one of the few tables outside and it was nice to be able to look out at the water while we ate. Saw some whales! Staff was friendly but I think the guy at the register was new because he kept forgetting to give me stuff, but it wasn't a big deal. :) read more

First off, I have to say the service was absolutely amazing and very accommodating! We waited about 25 minutes to receive our pizza which was 16 in for $26. The pizza I had was mighty cap mushrooms and a white cream sauce which was good. However, the pizza itself is not anything spectacular. It's pretty mediocre pizza. The overall frustrating part that my party experienced was how we ordered different pizzas. It felt like we all ordered cheese pizzas because they barely put any sausage or mushrooms or any toppings for that matter on all the pizzas. My buddy went and talked to one of the workers and she said that they were informed to only put a limited amount. Not blaming the workers however, if you are the owner, this is not okay you shouldn't be jibbing people for a quick buck because it's near the coast. You should give people food that they are paying for and quality at that. With Toppings!!!! read more

The slices were OK. They were both overdone and not warm enough, and the crust at the end hadn't really fully risen before it was baked. I also wasn't crazy about how they gave it to me, i.e. in a box with one slice dropped on top of the other one. What really irked me, though, was that I ordered the slices and asked for a cup of tap water, and the kid behind the counter literally said to me, "we don't have tap water." Really? A restaurant where people have to wash their hands doesn't have... tap water? I think if I'm paying six bucks apiece for slices, I could get a cup of water. If they didn't have cups, they could've said that. The nonsensical lie plus the subpar slices make this a place I won't want to come back to. read more

You, pizza and nature, how God attended it. I ordered the 16" Cheese and "16 Cayucos Margherita. First bite, felt weak in the knees, immediately thought "North County has PIZZA!" Both had great bottoms and dough. Crunch slight char on bottom, little grit and great fluff, airy, chew! The sauce was bright and fresh, you can taste the sweet Roma's! Wonderful fresh cheese. The pesto drizzle was vibrant and packed a sour, herbal punch to cut through the fat of the cheese and the dough. We're local and I've been wanting to try Pie in the Sky for a while...We finally did on a recent evening, and, while we liked it, it didn't blow us away so we'll continue our quest to find the best pizza in the area. Here is what we noticed: - We went to call in an order, but we discovered that there's no phone number to call. You can only order online or by stopping by the window of the shop. They also have a fairly limited menu, and only one size of a full pizza to order. - We usually like to order half-and-half pizzas, because it enables us to try two different kinds. That wasn't possible on the website, and when I asked about it while picking up the pizza, they said they don't do that unless it would be cheese and pepperoni (in any event, their website doesn't even give you the ability to order half-half pizzas and there's no phone number to call). - I was a little surprised to find the pizza sitting in the warming bin when I arrived at the shop, even though I arrived five minutes before the time that it was projected to be ready based on the online ordering notice (since I generally like to pick up a pizza when it's just comes out of the oven). - The pizza wasn't bad, but I missed some of the gooey cheesiness that you normally get with a pizza...not sure if it's the type of cheese they used or the oil coming from the pepperoni, but it was definitely a bit different. And, I don't think it's because of the time it took to get home since we live very close by. The sourdough crust was good but a little tougher to chew than with some pizzas. Having lived in New York in the past, this is definitely NOT New York pizza (although to be fair, few places can really replicate true New York Pizza without the NYC water, etc.). Bottom line: Not terrible pizza by any means, but not a place we're clamoring to go back to, especially given the price for what you get. It is nice to have a local Cayucos pizza shop option for sure, but it might be best suited to people at the beach who want a quick slice. read more

I love to support local biz., but...... 3rd time I have ordered this pizza ( delivery). First 2 times were 'ok', the pepperoni pizza always came loaded with pepperoni, but what I noticed was the very minimal sausage and peppers on the peppers and sausage pie, I kept thinking it was an oversight, but the 3rd time, no, this latest del. was so sparse I had to review it ( see image, there is like 1, 1/8 inch strip of green pepper across the top of a slice, nothing else on that slice), the sausage is barely noticeable. Plus the pie was not fully cooked..... As opposed to the pepperoni pie which was burnt, badly, I think there was 2 slices barely edible out of the whole pie. The crust is good. But the last 2 times we ordered a pepperoni, most of the pepperonis were burned all the way through. We ordered green pepper and mushroom once and literally got one mushroom and a couple pieces of green pepper per slice. Too bad, could be great. read more

The goat cheese was subtle and everything felt really fresh. We added Cayucos sausage on it, which was delicious (although they could've added a little more). A tiny, but mighty pizza hole-in-the-wall. Only outside seating, but there's only two small cafe style tables. If you don't get a table, not to worry; they're ocean-front, so grab your pizza and go sit on the beach, or the pier, or just take it to go. The menu is also very, very small, but the few pizzas they do serve are really good. A definite cut above your average pizza joint. Certainly the best pizza in the Cambria and Cayucos area. They sell pizza by the slice, but I recommend the whole pie. Crispy crust with flavorful toppings all done to delight. read more

This pizza is the best food in San Luis Obispo County. I ordered the pizza and then watched the sunset, pizza took about 20 minutes and I kid you not it was terrific. Since then Ive exclusively only ordered from here. My favorite is the pepperoni and the cheese. The staff are super friendly and down to earth. I'm surprised this place doesn't have a cult following yet but I know that's sure to change. read more

My family recently bought pizzas from Pie in the Sky and they were great! It's in such a convenient location and it's perfect that you can order and then eat right along the beach. We ordered a second time and there was a bit of a technical issue with the online ordering but they gave us a full refund and even offered us pizza for free! The issue was really not entirely their fault (silly technology) so it was really sweet to give us the pizza for free. Part of the pizza was a new flavor combo they are trying out and it was SO GOOD! Actually sell pizza. Ordered 5 slices and girl at register refused to sell more than four slices. We had 4 adults and a toddler in our group. We requested 3 cheese slices and 2 pepperoni and was told " I can't sell more than 4 slices for a group". No one was in line or anyone sitting out front. The place was dead while other restaurants were packed. Its obvious you can't have a proper business model by refusing to sell the very item you are marketing to the public. This place won't last. Might as well close now and let the crappy tourist kayak rental take over your place. No way the reviews are real on this place. Positive reviews must be from overly proud local snobs. read more
