    Short Rib Ragu
    Danny B.

I've been to this spot three times over the past few months, and here's what I've come up with so far: Let's start with the good: Ragu Pasta This was really good. Everything from the seasoning to the Italian sausage was on point, and the pasta was cooked to a nice al dente. Definitely something I could order again and again. Mango Cheesecake Exactly what you'd expect--sweet, creamy, and full of mango flavor. A solid dessert option. Chocolate Cake (top shelf, middle) Not sure of the exact name, but it was rich and tasty. Another win on the dessert menu. Side Salad Taste fresh, and it was good! Now, the not-so-great: Benny's Pizza The toppings were decent, but there was just too much oil. While the outer crust had a good crunch, the rest of it was soggy. Not something I'd order again--overall, just okay. Short Rib Ragu This was a big miss. It lacked flavor, the pasta was undercooked, and I honestly don't understand why it's even called a "ragu." It felt disconnected from the dish I expected. Wouldn't recommend. Olive Oil Cake Not a fan. It was really dry--almost like dried-out cornmeal--with whipped cream and some other topping that didn't help much. Couldn't taste any olive oil either. Other Notes: Service Always friendly and welcoming. Definitely a bright spot of the experience. Takeout Just a heads up: if you're ordering to-go, expect a wait. Every time I've ordered, it's taken around 40-45 minutes. All in all: A nice little spot to check out if you're in town. The vibe is good, the service is great, and while the food has its hits and misses, there's still more on the menu I'd like to try.

We really tried to give this place a chance, but after three visits it is safe to say we won't be back. Each trip the service was terrible. Everyone was very friendly, however, it's like nobody trained the servers. There is a total lack of prioritizing (ex. wiping down empty tables while a party sits amongst their dirty dishes for 20 minutes). Everything is slowwwwwww, The food took forever to come out all three times we were there. Each time the food was only mediocre. The pizza was fine, the calzone was really good, and the Alfredo was just gross. It was noodles covered in oil with globs of cheese curds and had no flavor. The bathrooms had no soap and no toilet paper.

I love this small Italian restaurant! It is affordable and just screams bring your friends and family and have a nice casual engaging dinner! I came here with friends for mini grad party and once on a date. Each time, I was looking forward to coming back! I enjoyed my calzone! It's definitely one of the better ones in the slo region! The service was great! Felt very inviting!

I dropped in this cozy Italian restaurant serving up pasta and pizza. My wife and I are passing through on a travel trip. Staying in Morro Bay. So we were craving margarita pizza to go. At the bar my server was so friendly chatting with me while she was working and queuing my order in the kitchen. I really love the vibe in this place, and would love to come back with my wife. Hey now just saw a plate of red sauce pasta walk by just under my nose at the bar. Boy did it look plated scrumptiously. They have a perfect health score 100 which means that the cooks I was eyeballing flying around in the kitchen are paying attention to detail and following proper sanitation procedures. And a delish pie! Good crunch on the crust. Good chew on dough cooked through. Plenty tomato sauce and mozzarella. Some sweetness in the dough and or the sauce. Will certainly be back!

Hazards has been on my boyfriend's to eat list and we found time to go after the Kelpful Yelp Event! Luckily, we were seated right away and had a few minutes to look at the menu. We were presented the specials for the night and were heavily intrigued. We got the Vegetali Misto calzone and the gnocchi filed ricotta cheese with pesto sauce. They were both very good and tasty. We also loved the complimentary foccacia in the beginning. Everything was good. Definitely coming back here with family and friends!

This restaurant has a small parking lot and parking on the street. I went on a Friday night around 6pm and was lucky enough to find an open table. It's a small restaurant with local art on the walls and a warm atmosphere. I was greeted right away and was served at a reasonable time. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana, which was easy to eat with just a fork. The cheese and sauce were just enough to make it a great dish.

Omg, this bread and French style butter!!

A bustling convivial and welcoming local Italian restaurant tucked away in an esoteric Los Osos neighborhood. Tonight they were jammed packed! Overall what stood out for hubby and me was their crunchy and quite tasty complimentary bread, 2nd basket was offered and of course, welcomed! Sadly, the rest of our meal goes south from here. Between our shared caprese salad to both of our pastas (hubby's artichoke piccata and my Italian sausage with mushrooms), and final slice of tiramisu, we were disappointedly underwhelmed. Caprese salad had a few sprinkles of balsamic vinegar, but strangely missing any olive oil or seasonings. Hubby's artichokes on his pasta tasted having come from a jar, and lacked any real depth of flavors; my ragu pasta was incredibly saucy, flavor was one note, and barely tasted any of the minuscule pieces of Italian sausage. Only cheese for our pastas was in a pizza shaker. I'm bumping this to 4 stars because of the most friendly and kind-hearted staff, I'd come back just for their sweetest dispositions, and the quaint adorable environment. Maybe other dishes may stand out but sadly ours didn't.

And then there's the tiramisu... absolutely out of this world. Light, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet--it's the kind of dessert you think about long after you leave. What I appreciated most is that even after enjoying a full meal, I didn't leave feeling heavy or weighed down. That's rare, and it really speaks to the quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation. I had the opportunity to try out La Laconda for a company dinner and ate really good food. The ambiance in the restaurant gave off warmth and peace which was really appreciated after a work day. Our waiter did a great job delivering our drinks, bread w/ olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and remembering our orders. He was consistently with checking in on how we were doing and would consistently clean our table when dishes were done being used. For food we got: - Escargot: 3.5/5 - The escargot was nice but I felt that it lacked a garlic + acidic taste. It was more so buttery. - Pasta Al Pistachio Pesto: 4/5 - The pesto was really good, loved loved the burrata addition. - L'Ossobuco Con Risotto Alla Milanese: 2.5/5 - Got a small bite from my colleague and it was first time trying it and it ended up not my favorite. - Tiramisu: 4/5 - I've tried multiple tiramisus in the area and liked this one! The whipped cream and cocoa powder balance was really nice. The raspberries were sour though. For drinks: - 2023 Nals Margied Sauvignon Blanc: 3.8/5 - 2023 Farina Soave Classico: 4.5/5 - This ended up being my favorite wine for the night as it was really light and airy. Very easy to drink and paired well with my meal!

Flavor was great and there weren't many that were served that weren't open. Prior to that they delivered an olive dip for the bread. The bread was delicious but some good olive oil would have been perfect for what was served. Next up was the pumpkin and ricotta pasta. Flavor was good and probably the best of what we ordered. Last dish was the steak with mushrooms which was a special. Ordered medium rare and has to send it back since it was over cooked. We rarely send stuff back but this was way over medium. Overall this place left me not thrilled with the experience and food. Our busser Hugo was amazing and on point and should have been serving instead of the staff we did see serving. When we told the manager they ignored our comment. Disappointed for sure. Not sure I'll give this place a try again.

But at a recent dinner before a show at the nearby Clark Center on a Thursday evening, my wife and I were reminded "price isn't everything". We started with an order of garlic bread ($8) with 6 good sized pieces. To go with the meal, our large glasses of 805 Draft ($8) arrived in the nick of time. We each got the same entree - Eggplant Parmigiana ($20)....my wife's with a side of vegetables and mine with pasta and marinara sauce. Lots of food for $20, but one reason was the amount of cheese. It dwarfed the eggplant. Overall, my dish was filling since I like cheese and eggplant...though my wife thought her eggplant got lost in everything else. Service was fine and about what you'd find in a neighborhood Italian place. And it's tough to beat the price. However, about 90 minutes later during intermission at the show, we looked at each other in disbelief and asked "are you thirsty?" Our dishes must have been slathered in salt. They really didn't need it. That's one way to spice up an evening.

I would even generalize the goodness and quantities here to many or even most Pasta & Cheese dishes. Adding their whole loaf of freshly baked bread takes most dishes over the top. I feel that most Italian places in my neighborhood all offer various elements that they are really good at. It is important to note the limitations of most of these places to avoid a let down....and also to account for seasonal, or ingredient variations as well. If one is in downtown Pismo Beach proper, there are only two good choices, that being either Rosa's or Giuseppes. Giuseppes has the advantage of being more of an authentic NYC style pizza place...at least the Express version is. For sit down causal, Rosa's food and service is great for the family. If one wants to go outside of Pismo, you can find Luccas in AG Village. If one heads for SLO-town itself, you can find tons of choices that are great as well, such as Piadina or Flour House for more great Pizza. Regardless of the other places, I will likely always regard Rosas as my go to for Manicotti and Freshly baked bread. What other place gives you a whole loaf of hot fresh baked bread these days?
