I saw football on the flat screen and that was the decider, Pizza. Menu was typical pizza place with sandwiches and salads, pricing was fair. We ordered two Antipasto salads and a Medium Hawaiian pizza, $2 more for a large. Ahhh...Over all it was a good choice, the service was excellent, fast, served hot and tasty. Plenty of toppings on the salad and the pie. As the salad goes it consisted of the same products that were used on the pizza, fair enough, you're economical. My money goes to those with a slight change up to a better quality product. I thought the salads could have been improved with the toppings, specifically the olives, salami, and pepperoni. The pie had plenty of toppings, good cheese coverage, and a nice thick browned crust. Had I thought to ask for a thin crust?...well. The Pizza was cooked in a "impinger" oven, I prefer good ole' fashion brick oven cooking for the more genuine crust. There's just something about that, probably in my mind of how it was back in the day. With all that said I thought the pizza sauce was quite good. Everyone had a story, even Joe...The story... Joe's parents, Ted and Esper, owned Lola's restaurant in Paso Robles. Joe had a thought in 1994 to open a great spoon diner serving up good eats to the community. Not just a thought, but realized goal. A year later Joe's Place opened in Paso Robles and in 2006 he moved to Templeton. In 2010, his parents retired and Joe re-opened Joe's Place in Paso Robles. Joe honors his parents by serving up the same chili verde recipe and fresh salsas. Awesome!

The eatery is counter service with the food brought out to the tables. The dining area is smallish. Little hole in the wall, no frills place. Comfortable. The cashier was welcoming and helpful. The menu has pizzas, calzones, pasta, hot sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza and bottled Jarritos sodas. The pizza came out piping hot. Lactose intolerant me popped a pill and went to town. The crust was oven baked. Nice bake on the crust. Evenly cooked through. Gorgeous satisfying cheese pull. Seemed like an endless stretch. It tasted like plain noodles tossed in butter with just a light sprinkle of cheese on top before being baked. It lacked the creamy, cheesy flavor we were hoping for. I did however call earlier 2 hours before and was told they had cheese sticks.... Guess what I was told when I arrived to order, we sold out early this afternoon. Ugghhhh.
