I don't know why for some reason the pizza at this Pizza Express is tastier than the one in Grover. Service was quick and fantastic.

Pizza Express has been in business in SLO county for many years and has solid pizza. Their gourmet pizza selection is unique with quality ingredients. My favorite gourmet opinion is the Antonia special and Combo. Their sausage is top notch. They can do a half and half of any gourmet pizza. I get a half white sauce and half red sauce pizza requesting extra sauce is my favorite. For a buck fifty extra the sesame seed crust is great. read more

This place used to be good. But it's now very underwhelming. It needs deep cleaned too by the looks of it.

We've lived in A-town since 2016 and we've tried every pizza Joint that has come AND GONE in this little town, multiple times. Even the $$$ sit down restaurants that offer pizza on their menus. . Without question, without doubt, without qualms, WE (my family) pronounce PIZZA EXPRESS as having THE best pizza in A-town. In particular, the PIZZA EXPRESS take out special offer is easily THE best value in A-town. You'll need to look it up to find what I'm referencing. The owner is friendly and nothing but hard working since we met him years ago. His PIZZA EXPRESS offers many other options, including Mediterranean. Full disclosure, we have only strayed from our pizza order maybe twice at best over all these years. The pizza is always in our weekly food rotation, maybe bi-weekly in busy months. It is that good of a value for us (plus it's local). Join us in helping the little guy pizza business in A-town, that has survived it all, to gain the following it wholly deserves. Updating review as was contacted by Pizza Express to make it right and I appreciate that the company would do that. Solid company and it is clean. There are a couple of places you can eat inside. Will keep them on our list of pizza places to go to when we want pizza. _________________________________________________________ So I called in and ordered for pickup. The guy was nice. I got jalapeno poppers, a gyro sandwich, and a white sauce pizza with chicken, bacon, a roasted garlic. I got there when it was supposed to be ready and it was. The lady working seemed rushed and overwhelmed. I normally look at the pizza before leaving but for some reason I didn't this time. Mistake! Got home and opened the pizza box...low and behold I got red sauce, not the white sauce I ordered. It wasn't what I wanted. I didn't feel like driving all the way back, so we ate it but it was not satisfying. On to the gyro...we have had this sandwich before and it was decent. Today was dry, not flavorful and throw together without a care. The jalapeno poppers were good. Typical frozen version, fried. But they are satisfying. Unfortunately ranch is extra if you want it. And for $10 for 8 pieces, a side of ranch with it, shouldn't break the bank. We used to go and loved it. When we wanted pizza, this was one of our go to's. Some parking right up front and if that is full it opens up to a larger parking lot behind it. Shop it pretty clean. Has some old gumball machines with candy and other things. Two couple tables and three tables for probably about 4 people. Some seating outside. TV but not on I'm guessing because of covid. Must be 6 feet apart inside shop. Staff is always super friendly. And pizza is pretty darn good. read more

Great service and friendly people--I would go back here today if I had the cash. And Therein lies the problem. The pizza is fabulous, with a bready crust, ample toppings, deliciously cheesy. We got a gyro pizza and that was the standout--the gyro meat and the onions go so well with the cheese and crust. We got another, half pepper and half pepperoni--also great ingredients and tasty. But $42 for two pizzas is just too much -- add a tip and again, just a bit on the expensive side. One star is too much for this place. Our pizza was over cooked. The pepperoni was hard as chips. I dont know if they didn't like us or what but they were rude to us. We asked if we could make a substitution in our family deal and they said No. Other Pizza express on spring street always accommodates our substitution. Fine, if they don't want to make the sub, it's cool. But when when we got home and checked they food, our wings were dry. We order bbq! There was no sauce. Our salad was literally just lettuce. No ranch dressing or pepper or Parmesan. We specifically asked for too. Our meal was ruined because of their bad vibes and their incompetence. GO SOMEWHERE ELES PLEASE!!! Tonight was our first time ordering from Pizza Express. Customer service was wonderful. I was greeted with smiles and friendly conversation. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza and a large Greek salad. The salad was huge and loaded with olives, tomatoes, mushrooms and feta on a beautiful bed of fresh greens. It came with 2 small containers of balsamic vinegar and oil dressing. The pizza was absolutely delicious. From the first bite till the last. We've started ordering from here again since our favorite pizza place in the area closed back in January (then reopened...and then closed permanently as quickly as it reopened). The first time we tried it was back in early 2019 after we first moved to the area, and we didn't think it was very good, to be honest. The crust was soggy and tasteless, the toppings were put on very sparingly and the sauce had no "zing" whatsoever. Fast forward to 2020 when we're desperate to find a new, reasonably priced pizza place for those times when I don't want to cook - and we found ourselves back to Pizza Express. This time, the crust was crispy on the bottom, bready (and could honestly use a bit more seasoning, but still good), the sauce still isn't quite perfect with seasoning, but the toppings were put on very nicely. For the price, there is definitely value to be found, although I agree with others that say it seems to take a while. We've ordered twice and each time it's taken over an hour. The last time we ordered, the delivery person couldn't figure out how to use the phone at the top of our gate (it's just a chain link gate to keep deer out, but it stops a lot of people. The phone is up there for deliveries) and ended up leaving before delivering the pizza - he didn't think anyone was at home. I had to call the owner and get him to send the delivery person back with it, but even so - things happen and everyone was very kind about it. The only other things I'd suggest is that when they take orders over the phone, they should immediately ask how someone plans to pay - invariably I have had to ask them if I can pay over the phone by credit card rather than deal in cash with the driver. Also, they should invest in a system where they can save someone's account by phone number the way that other pizza places in the area have done. It would make things faster for them in a variety of ways. read more

New owners, bad pizza! So this Pizza Express is now under new ownership. They've changed the crust and the sources of their toppings. The pizza has gone from the best in Atascadero to the worst. The simple pepperoni pizzas here were so good and now they are bordering on kind of gross (and that's not meant to be hyperbole). Plus, they are phasing out the $10.99 4 topping large! My family and I have become accustom to ordering pizza here at least twice a week. I don't think we'll ever go back now. I guess all good things must come to an end and we probably shouldn't eat so much pizza anyways. Hey, new owners, what happened? Did the last owner take their recipes and topping sources with them? Absolutely our favorite pizza. The dough is perfect. The cheese is delicious and "real" cheese. The toppings are always good. Be warned that delivery takes 1+ hours so plan ahead and order pick up if starving. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the rest of the their food is just ok. Salads are mostly lettuce. Pizza and wings last night sent me to the ER early this morning. Most expensive delivery ever. :( Will never be back. Update: spoke to the manager. He got ahold of us to say he'd called the other customers that got wings last night and THEY didn't have an issue so he cant imagine it was his food that made us sick - mostly because no one else said anything and the wings come pre-cooked. When I asked him if had just called to argue he said "No, but..." and kept on. When I asked if it was SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE that just ONE of his batches of wings or pizza toppings could have been bad, he just said "I don't know. Sorry, but I don't think it was the food." I still feel so horrid after being at SVRMC for SEVEN HOURS THIS MORNING that I simply ended the call after he was unable to be more compassionate. Bad form, sir. More angry now than before we spoke, and still out a day of work for both of us, +$2k in hospital bills AND the cost of dinner last night. That was a waste of time.
