We were craving Italian. Found this restaurant on Yelp. We walked from our hotel and showed up to a very busy restaurant. People were picking up their take out orders and the tables were all full. We waited for about 10 minutes. The stuff was working hard. We were very pleased with everything we ordered. My husband had the butternut squash ravioli, we had the anti pasta salad and I had the short rib pasta special. We topped it off with the olive oil cake. Arrived at opening , 4:30. Party of 2. No one in the restaurant but us. What HAZARD. Forgot our orders. Asked if our salad were arriving before our entree. Heard the server place the order. One entree arrived and server placed it in the table as if we were sharing it. I asked about my entree, server went back to the kitchen, then came back and said five minutes. She said the printer didn't print out the order. Yeah right. Cancelled the pizza to go. She said the infamous, 5 minutes. Was here 3 weeks ago and everything was fine. We stayed in Los Osos for a couple days, and found this place looking for a local restaurant. We ordered online for pickup. Hazards had an extraordinarily friendly and accommodating staff. They called me immediately with some clarifications on my online order and were very helpful. I got there early, and sat at the bar for a bit while they finished my order. I wish we had ate in, because it was a very cozy place. When my order was up, I was presented with an extremely fresh and hearty calzone, and my wife had a delicious sausage and butternut soup. We finished with a slice of decadent home made Tiramisu cake that was fantastic. My only regret is that I am not local, so I may not be back for a while. But I am definitely a fan. read more

Nice people and glad they're here, have eaten here a few times now. Food is okay, but opening another pizza place seems kinda silly. They don't even have the best pizza in their own shopping center. Pizza dough is bland and chewy but perfectly cooked and quality toppings. Their salads and appetizers are pretty good, though the cooks seem to be heavy handed on salt and oil. I'm glad we have another food option in Osos, but I can't see myself coming here often. read more

We had my daughter's grad party this weekend with 13 people and had the best time! We dropped table decorations off early, and ordered garlic bread and mozzarella sticks to be on the table at arrival. Both were so tasty and needed after a long ceremony. Service was outstanding! And we had everything; calzones, Alfredo, bolognese, lasagna, vodka sauce, and everyone loved their food. We were staying in Morro and found Hazards on Yelp. We tried it out a few months before and loved the food then too. We wanted to reorder the flourless chocolate cake but were too full. It's a cute small restaurant but they handled our 13 and another table of 10 like pros. Couldn't have been happier! read more

Family and I were lucky enough to have dinner here tonight. Started with antipasto, two kids ordered from the kids menu; cheese pizza which was pretty big and a pepperoni pizza that did not skimp on toppings. Older kid had Alfredo, wife had bolognese and I had the A La Vodka. All three entrees were delicious but also hearty enough that we could not finish them. Guess we should have skipped the warm fresh complimentary bread. I also had a slice of the pizza and thought the crust was crunchy but chewy. Very kid friendly but also very charming. I've lived in Los Osos for about 10 years after being in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 40 years - and I have always been disappointed in local pizza until my recent take out at Hazards. The crust and sauce are fabulous and they do not scimp with their toppings or cheese. I ordered a traditional pizza with mushrooms, olives, sausage and pepperoni and I'm looking forward to my next meal there. Let me preface this story by saying this was BY FAR the BEST calzone I have had in my entire life. Ordered Item: Carni Calzone A little backstory: I was introduced to calzones at a young age by my father; back when they were in their prime and offered by many pizza places. However, as time went on and I grew older, my love for calzones appeared to not be shared by the masses. I painfully had to stand idly by as I slowly watched them die out and became unable to find them; let alone find a remotely decent one... I have spent the last 14 years searching.. LONGING, for what I could only vaguely recall at this point in time to be the perfect calzone... One made with the love and care of the good days... Now Hazards and their calzone... Well, well, well... Now THAT, is a different story. When I opened the box I was borderline assaulted by the pure beauty and radiating aroma that I was met with. I've spent the last 12 hours P.C. (post calzone) in pure disbelief. Feeling almost similarly to as if I had met my estranged father who had been gone for the last 14 years. I'm met with feelings of great love, but also of anger and resentment knowing that deep down in my heart I was right all these years... This was the missing piece to my puzzle. For a short while I am whole again. However, I live out of town and I found them on my last day here... So unfortunately, this is once again goodbye. I love you Hazards and I'll miss you... I hope this place is as good the second time we go there--and there will definitely be a second time. We don't eat inside these days (covid and all), so we took a simple 19" pepperoni pie home (no outside seating), along with some cheesecake, and OH BOY did it not disappoint! The pizza is not NY-style, but also not CA-style; it was somewhere in between, but it was a good somewhere. Would we have loved a good NY-style pizza? Sure, but this was good. There was not too much cheese (a common problem I really don't understand at all), the sauce was FRESH and the crust was not thin and crisp, but not thick and bready--let's just say it folded well, but not perfectly. Pepperoni wasn't too salty--in fact, the sodium content for the whole pie was very tolerable. For those who do eat inside: super cute and cozy, and the staff appeared very genuine (itself a rarity). And the cheesecake? Oh, fuggedabout it. Good gawd. And for $29 plus tip for two, with half a pie left? It's a lovely little place in a sleepy town next to our sleepy little town (with very little good food in it). This is truly delicious and fine Italian food! Jimmy Bumps was good but Hazard's is several steps up. We've had the lasagna, eggplant parm, manicotti, and raviolis (butternut squash). I thought the manicotti was the best I've ever had! It's hearty but light which sounds strange. There's a hint of lemon which lifts the dish. The meat sauce is so tasty, thick, generous but not over powering and has really tasty mushrooms. It's perfectly seasoned. Some day I'll get around to trying the pizzas!! read more

A disappointing dinner at Hazards! Hate to leave a bad review for a local family owned restaurant and having eaten here before and been happy but this night did not go well. Arrived early in the evening and discovered they had only enough iced tea for one glass for one person but no refills. Ok I can live with that. Ordered small Caesar salads for everyone. They arrived overflowing on a small plate making it difficult to eat without knocking lettuce on the table particularly since lettuce pieces were cut so big. Overly dry with almost no Caesar dressing so requested more and was brought a small serving which helped but the salad was still much too dry. Caeser dressing very bland and really tasted like plain mayonnaise. One anchovy topped the salad and was good. Parmesan cheese was available from a bottle rather than fresh. Complementary bread brought to table was the highlight of our dinner! Really good! Ordered Pasta Primavera which is normally made with a cream sauce but as the menu said oil and garlic. Lots of oil but failed to taste any garlic and the pasta did not seem freshly made but rather that of grocery store quality. Utterly tasteless dish. Tried their 2-meatball appetizer but was disappointed and did not eat both. Balls were much too firm and tasteless except for the small amount of marinara sauce which was ok. Service was friendly and nice but overall dinner was very disappointing. Perhaps it was an off night but too many things were too far off! read more

Good food, slow service for such a small location. We came here on vacation after a day at the State park beaches. I was skeptical because so many bad reviews but left pleasantly surprised. The stuffed mushrooms were amazing and must be made with magic and some kind of addictive substance. The calzone was good, and the Alfredo was tasty, but I wish it had less cheese in the sauce (it was a bit chunky and less creamy than I would hope for). I tend to rate an Italian place for the first time with minestrone soup, bread, and lasagna. The soup was fresh and very good. Their bread was very good too. Their lasagna was one of the best that I have ever had. It was served nice and hot with very fresh ingredients. We also split a personal size pizza about 8 inches. Their meat had a great taste too. You can taste quality ingredients as they are much tastier than you run of the mill pizza joint. This is a small family run business and it tastes and feels like it! No chain here! Their place is super cute and it fits los osos vibes! We ordered the large Benny's Combo Pizza and loved the flavor and ingredients. The only reason why it is a 4 stars is because the crust was too thin and couldn't hold the ingredients. I'll update the review after trying a normal pepperoni pizza in the future.
