We just had lunch at DiStasio's Ristorante Italiano. What a fabulous new location! Very friendly atmosphere, and beautifully decorated. We ordered the Lasagna and it was wonderful!!! We highly recommend this restaurant. They are open for lunch & Dinner and are very reasonable in price. The bay views with Morro Rock in the background adds to a all in one great place to dine. The basket bread was stale and we waited 30 minutes for our appetizers. This was a special occasion we were celebrating but it kinda got ruined by the slow service at this restaurant, we didn't even want to stay for dessert. We ordered an appetizer and it took so long we had to keep asking what was going on, apparently there was a mixup in the kitchen. When we finally got our Bruschetta, its was so biter we couldn't even eat it! The entrees were ok but not up to my expectations. I've eaten here a few times and loved it, however a few friends and I went recently, their Boston clam chowder had undercooked potatoes and their specialty pizza crust seemed like it was bought pre made... I thought in the past the crust was made in house.... The owners are great people, however I hope they go back to their roots, I'd hate to see this place go down the drain read more

My husband and I brought my sister and her kids to the new location. Fabulous setting, great views and a very nice remodel of a location that sat empty for a long time. Pro's - the waitress tried very hard to provide good service and accomodate three children. Con's- the restaurant was less than half full yet the wait staff seemed like they were in the weeds. It took more than 15 minutes to get a drink order, the waitress apologized several times for not having bread yet. Kids menu was fine and their food was good for them - but as an adult we expected more. The tortellini was clearly store bought - probably from Costco and then heated with a "carbonara" style sauce that included Canadian bacon and too much cream. The ravioli - same deal - not fresh, the sauce was so heavy with sage - almost not edible. For an Italian restaurant - I would expect that they would make all of their pasta - if they aren't they should be ashamed to be running a restaurant and if they claim they make the pasta on site they need to hire a new chef. A wasted location on highly mediocre food - sad and too bad because we need more good restaurants here. read more

I have heard mixed reviews from some of the locals, rants and raves, but I am in the rave category. Our meal was excellent. Good location overlooking the embarcadero, and pleasant atmosphere contribute to a nice evening. They building also includes a wine tasting bar. The wife and I stopped in because it was across the street from our hotel. The manager was very nice to talk to and he made a few suggestions for our to go order. I decided to get the basic spaghetti and meatballs and my wife got spinach tortellini...Wow!!! What a fantastic meal and every bite full of zesty flavor. Had the Distasio's special pizza. Tasty thin crust with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Mozzarella cheese stick appetizer and side salad also a nice compliment to the meal. We did take out, however, it was a lovely location with nice views of the bay from inside. read more

Amazing -- not only the food, but also chef Mark and his father Ken. Great conversation over Artichoke Bisque (don't tell my mother I finally ate a vegetable!) and Caesar salad. First time at this restaurant. Employees were friendly, very attentive, checking on us frequently. Antipasto salad was great, good size for the small portion. Offered Parmesan cheese and fresh ground pepper. Had the cheese ravioli with sun dried tomatoes. The ravioli was very light as well as the sauce. My husband had the Italian platter including manicotti and cannelloni with marinara sauce. He loved it and ate every last bit. Ice tea and water were refilled constantly. On a foggy Sunday night last fall we ventured into DiStasio's after checking out the menu and TripAdvisor reviews. We were greeted right away and seated at a cozy table for two, where we sat. And sat. And sat. Five minutes passed. Ten minutes passed. No water. No bread. No server! We saw wait staff walking back and forth and taking care of tables next to us, but no one came by our table. I noticed a server chatting with a customer at a table nearby, and wondered if she was our server. Finally, nearly 15 minutes later (just as I was about to go speak with the hostess), the conversation ended and yes, the server came over to greet us and take our drink order. From that point on, I'm happy to say that things improved. We started off with a dinner salad for me (dressing was a bit bland) and minestrone soup for my boyfriend (he loved it). For our main dishes, I ordered the "Italian Platter," which consisted of one cannelloni (a crepe filled with spiced beef) and one manicotti (filled with ricotta cheese), topped with mozzarella cheese, baked, and topped with 1/2 marinara and 1/2 alfredo sauce. Perfectly wonderful! My boyfriend went with the Chicken Saltimbocca, and couldn't stop raving about it. Portions are good sized (we both took home leftovers). We were just too full for dessert, although the selections sounded yummy. The restaurant is very comfortable with a welcoming fireplace. Since it was a foggy evening, I can't comment on the view, but my guess is that it's lovely (it's Morro Bay, after all -- how could it not be? :-)). Heard a ton of mixed reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot. Went there for dinner and ordered the ravioli. Was told that everything was made fresh before the order by the server... After receiving my meal it tasted as though the raviolis were frozen. I double checked if they made the raviolis in house and, to my surprise, they WERE frozen. How hard is it to make fresh raviolis at an "Italian" spot. At least if you pretend you're a descent restaurant you should attempt to try making food. Defrosting/heating is not cooking... I eat here every time I'm in Morro Bay. The service is great and the ambiance is very nice. We've had the lasagna - excellent, chicken Marsala - excellent, spaghetti bolenese - fantastic, pene w/sausage - very tasty. You get a great meal for a great price. I can't wait to try something new in a couple of weeks when I'm up there again. The location is above the embarcadero so you look out over the bay and Morro Rock. Good wine selection and full bar. DiStasio's 781 Market st. Morro Bay Ca. 805-771-8760 10-12-12 Made a reservation in person and by phone requesting a table in the back for a dinner meeting. Upon arrival the two hostess's fumbled for about 15 minutes with the reservation. I got tired of waiting and went into the wine bar next door to await the arrival of the rest of my guests. We ordered a glass of wine 10.00 each aprox. But when they called us to our table they said we can't bring the wine into the other side of the restaurant. It's a separate business with licensing issues. So we had to chug 50.00...5 glasses of wine. It was really awkward and I wonder how many people fall for this odd business relationship. The door that the restaurant shares with this business should be locked. With a sign that states....Use the front door and designates 2 separate business. We were seated at the window with a great view. We wanted a seat in the back but if the restaurant didn't care about conducting a meeting in the main dining room we didn't care. The waitress was very pleasant ( sorry I didn't get her name) Everyone enjoyed the food, family style Italian. I ordered The chicken marsalla but I got chicken parmesan. It was very good, so I didn't complain. Reasonably priced, good service, great view. read more

The view would really be the only reason you would eat here. My veal parmigiana was completely inedible and I sent it back. My kids spaghetti was like a rental car experience and so was my husbands clams in white wine. It's food, it's on a plate, look at the view and have a few drinks. Nothing here was compelling enough to make us want to come back. Oh, I ordered something else off of the menu that could be brought out immediately so I could eat with my family. That took forever and I had to ask another waiter to bring it to our table. This place misses the mark and needs a serious overhaul of its menu, and decor. read more

First time when it opened food was great..fresh and home made...second time we could not eat the spaghetti and meatballs..definitely different we asked the server if they had a new cook? The cook came out a lady said she would make a new one fir us she was sorry..we did not go again for a while..yesterday my husband went in to give another chance....boy what a mistake the sauce actually tasted made from a jar..doctored up with lots of garlic......I'm soooo disappointed it did not stay the same and they are cutting corners...we will no longer go again it's a waste of money..will be looking fir a new Italian place.... read more

This place is great, we make it to the central coast 2-3 times a year, but this was our first time eating here. After being on the freeway for over 6 hours the pleasant wait staff, super family friendly environment, and great food were a welcome sight. To start the waitress recommended the special which was penne past with a vodka sauce and chicken, it was off the charts good. Other meals in the group included raviolis, linguini and clams, spaghetti, and pizza. All very different and all very good. It's not very often I have a dining experience that is so bad that I feel obligated to write a review to possibly save someone else from having the same experience. This restaurant is that bad. My friend and I went there for dinner with my elderly parents. Other than ours, there were only four tables occupied, with two servers--so, two tables per server--not a heavy workload. As soon as our waiter took our drink order, he let us know he couldn't bring it to us immediately because of the "large table" he was serving. The large table consisted of six people, and he must have expected them to be good tippers, because he spent all of his time at that table while ignoring ours. We were getting such crappy service that the other server actually took pity on us even though it wasn't her table, and kept bringing us stuff that our waiter forgot or never got around to. The food, when we finally got it, was not good. My parents both ordered the eggplant parmigiana, and it was burned and hard like a hockey puck. You couldn't cut it even with a sharp knife. We called the waiter over and sent it back. When he came back with the re-made eggplant parmigianas, he said, "Now this is what it's supposed to look like!" to which my friend replied, "If you knew that is what it's supposed to look like, why did you serve them that crap the first time?" He said he hadn't noticed what it looked like the first time he brought it out. We asked him to comp the two orders of eggplant. He said he would, but then only comped one when he brought us the bill. So if you want to be ignored and served food by waiters who can't be bothered to notice what they are serving you, by all means, eat here. Otherwise, my advice is to avoid it like the plague. read more

I've been there once, and we had a perfectly nice meal. I wouldn't go there for a special occasion, but as a family friendly restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and good food I liked the place! The waiter was good - he was polite, knowledgeable on the menu and made a great recommendation for main course. When he noticed he'd made an error with my daughter's pasta order, he was apologetic and immediately replaced the dish.
