Here's a terrifying experience I had with Jessica doing my bridal makeup: I found Jessica through Yelp and scheduled an appointment for my wedding day makeup and hair styling, also visiting her apartment for a trial run. On the trial day, the makeup was light and our conversation was pleasant, but that cheerful atmosphere completely changed on the wedding day. On the wedding day, my fiancé dropped me and my sister-in-law off at the bridal makeup room and left. Jessica started my makeup, and when I give my eyeshadow suggestions, she said, "How about let me finish my work first." As she was finishing the eye makeup, I noticed one eye was darker than the other, and I told her I preferred the lighter side. I asked her to balance them, but she said she couldn't do that without me wiping everything off and starting over. Her attitude throughout the makeup process was like that of a queen, leaving no room for discussion. Of Couse I didn't have time to start over, so I said, "Then pls make the outer corners a bit darker." She said, "You should have said that from the beginning." What? You didn't let me speak at the beginning either. Then she started slamming her makeup box shut loudly. When I tried to speak again, she said, "I don't understand your English." By the way, I'm Asian and my English isn't very fluent. I tried to ignore her attitude and not let it ruin my wedding day, so I stopped making requests and let her continue with my sister-in-law's makeup while I changed into my wedding dress. When I took out the wedding veil and asked Jessica how to wear it, she asked me, "How did you wear it at your previous wedding?" I said, "My previous wedding was an Asian wedding, and I don't really know American traditional weddings." By the way, my fiancé is white, and we chose a traditional wedding as a tribute to our deceased family members. Jessica said, "In our American tradition, brides don't wear veils for a second marriage." I said, "I specifically google on this; they said if brides want to wear it, she can, and it shouldn't matter too much." She then stopped talking and took my veil, saying, "You bought the wrong veil; this can't be worn with your long hair, only with an updo." Alright, Queen! I said, "Can you pls help me put on this hairpin." she said, "How about you pay me the balance first." This time, I didn't pay her right away. After seeing my lack of response, she finally helped me put on the hairpin, completing the bridal look. Seriously, on the first day of the trial, there was no hairstyling; on the wedding day, it was makeup and hairstyling, plus my sister-in-law's makeup, which all added up to just three hours, and I paid her tootle $850, yet I received arrogant, mean, and rude service. Girls, go find someone else to do your makeup; on your special day, you deserve someone who is emotionally stable, and listens to your requests. read more

When it was my sister's turn to be a bride, I recommended that she reach out to Jessica. Saying that she is a talented professional just doesn't do her skills justice.
