I have mixed feeling to be honest. The person who did my hair was very sweet which made this review hard to write. My hair came out pretty, but it wasn't what I asked for. - Cut: The layers weren't done well so it sort of resembles a long mullet at times...kind of a mushroom shape effect. Feels like I have only 2 layers I'm descent with hair so can mask it a bit with curls. - The highlights are fine but they are old school/ going to root all over and not the ballyage effect I asked for. That said, they were blended nicely. - The color is red/orange which bothers me more than the cut. I said multiple times I didnt want red or warm... my whole head, not just the highlights, got toned a fairly strong red hugh. I invested in blue and purple shampoos trying to tone it down. It helped a bit. I did give her feedback but I don't want to go back to get it fixed because I've been back once already and I'm not confident in her ability to fix it at this point. She did offer to try again. I think i gotta wait this one out a few months and then get a trim and/or tone from someone else. Facility was cute and clean, free parking out back. Waited a month to give the review as I wanted to give it time to settle in. read more

Very HAPPY I made an appointment here!!! This morning I woke up and knew I had to get my hair professionally cut. The night before I took scissors to my hair and cut 80% of it lol. I been wanting to go short for a while and needed the inspiration lol. So I called them up after eating breakfast and they can get me in. I didn't have time for makeup or dressing cute, otherwise I was never gonna make it on time. I do like getting cute for the salon so the hairdresser can tell my style. Got there, parked on the side street and walked to the salon. The vibe was chic and relax, super cute decorated for the holiday. Monick was my hairdresser. She looks so much like my sister in law!!! Her hair is gorgeous and her makeup was very beautiful. She let me know that she needed to clean her station since she just finished her previous appointment. No worries with me, I was a bit early. She came to get me, I showed her the pics of the pixie cut I wanted. She did an AWESOME job!!!! I didn't think I would like it as much as I did since I usually wear my hair past my waist lol. I am soooo happy with the results!!!!! Highly recommended read more

I got my hair blown out and straightened on a Friday morning. My hair stylist was 30 minutes late that made me late to two appointments since my appointment was set for 9am but I was still in her chair at 11:10. I have curly hair and communicated with the stylist that i wanted it straight and treated enough to withstand a quick walk on ocean ave. She made a product recc for me to bring but the stylist didn't use the right products to make my hair hold the style: I left looking poofy and frizzy. I paid $80 for something i had to wash out same day. And the apt literally messed up my day. 10/10 don't recommend this place. read more

I came in for a haircut and had Sodany. She was amazing and really sweet. She made sure to make me feel comfortable and was so nice and attentive the whole time during my appointment. She also told me a lot about my hair and how i can better take care of it and was really sweet with sharing ideas for what i might like in addition to my haircut. I would recommend this place as it's clean, the people are very sweet and it's an overall amazing experience! Will definitely be going back! read more

I'm so grateful to have found Haven Salon on Yelp. I wanted to refresh my layered hairstyle while maintaining my current length. I highly recommend booking with Sodany!! She did a fantastic job listening to my needs and worked her magic to leave me feeling stunning with my new haircut. Sodany is not only an incredibly talented stylist, but also warm, down-to-earth, and made me feel right at home as a new client. Thank you so much!!! :) I'm already looking forward to our next appointment! read more

This was my first time here, and Jackie was wonderful! She is so kind, easy to talk with, and really takes time to consult and find out exactly what you like and the best way to get there. I learned quite a bit just talking with her. The salon was nice, clean, and relaxing which was welcomed. She did an excellent job with highlights and cut and that sure is hard to accomplish on the first appointment! I'm so happy I found her. read more

I came here on Monday for a new cut and Monik had cut my hair exactly the way that I wanted! I got a bob and showed her what I was leaning towards and she got it right away! Go to Nicole!!! (@nic_kill_hair) When I came in, my hair was pretty brassy with lots of orange tones, but I really wanted to do a dark-medium ash brown balayage. Nicole delivered and she really went above & beyond to help me reach my hair goals that day!! She was accommodating to my schedule and it was easy to book an appointment through text. The process was also relatively quick (about 3.5 hrs) which was awesome for me because I get so tired if I sit in the chair for too long lol. Price was also reasonable & parking was super easy. Overall, it was a really comfortable and relaxing experience in the salon (such nice decor too!) and I really recommend coming here for your hair needs :) read more

I was desperate to find a new home for my hair after deciding to leave my original stylist from losing my patience with her...so as you can imagine, it's hard to find someone new who will make wonders with my hair. Luckily, I was referred to Haven Salon from a coworker. I'm soooo glad I reached out them! Jackie took such great care of me. She listened to what I wanted and gave her honest opinion on what may or may not work. My hair feels so alive! It no longer looks like a broom! Lol! Thank you Jackie! I finally found a new home and cannot wait to build a wonderful trusting relationship with Jackie! I highly recommend giving this place a try! Jackie will not disappoint! read more

I've been going to this hair salon for a couple years now and I love it here. I've had both Alecia and Mia do my hair and both stylists are great! It's pretty easy to book an appointment with them too. Alecia was very good with her balayage stuff and I've always been happy with the results. And with Mia, I wanted to try her out because I loved her portfolio of all her clients hair on her IG. I would definitely recommend either ladies! The staff is very hospitable as well. They'll offer some refreshments to you since we know a trip to the hair salon could be an all day thing lol. I also love that they give head massages while they wash your hair! I honestly could fall asleep there lol. read more

Highly recommend this place to anyone. The hair dresser is so gentle. My hair was very dry after the last high light. She added gloss for my hair and removed the brassiness in my very bleached and white blond hair. Also, she did a light brown root and not a full black root. So great my hair is restored just before the holiday parties. read more

First time getting hair extensions. Was scared to get them because I didn't know a thing about them. Nicole was absolutely amazing. She educated me and explain the best type for my short Bob. I've been going to Jackie for a few years now and before her I could never find a hairstylist that knew what I wanted or didn't take too much off. Through a split dye, cutting and dying my own hair (bad habits) she's never ever ever had me leaving her chair less than satisfied. truly the best at what she does and I couldnt even imagine going to anyone else!!! She'll be my girl for life !! Not to mention she and the studio are super clean and everyone in there is so sweet! read more

Called very last minute to see if they would accept a walk in because school started for me and I just really wanted to refresh my hair and get all my dead and dry ends cut off, they were able to get me in and I got out with the stylist Sodany. Jackie is phenomenal! as a military spouse I have lived all over the world and I have not been able to find a hairdresser who does coloring and styling as good as her. I'm very particular when it comes to my hair and I know I can always count on Jackie. I'm so happy to live on the same coast as her again and to be a regular client. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Called to ask if there are any stylists with experience doing African American hair. The receptionist placed me on hold to check, then returned and said "no we don't have anyone with expertise doing that type of hair" I was appalled! What is "THAT type of hair"? Especially in Long Beach adjacent Los Al, I wouldn't expect this reaction. Look elsewhere, regardless of your hair type for a salon that appreciates ALL people and hair types read more

Mixed review here. I looove the way my highlights come out every time I book w Nicole. She's very polite, professional, prompt and knows her stuff. Problem is, we're in the height of a COVID wave, (my appt was 12/3/2020) and the other stylist in the salon (not mine) didn't wear a mask, nor did she have their clients wear them. At the very least, it's inconsiderate of the other people in the room. This exactly why people get sick and businesses get shut down. read more

Nicole has been cutting my hair for about 10 years now and I wouldn't have it any other way! She is great with men's haircuts and I would suggest anyone who prefers a shorter style to book with her. Plus she usually colors my hair slightly to help blend in the grays with my naturally dark hair and it turns out great! In terms of the rest of the salon I find it to be such a comfortable friendly atmosphere. All of the girls are always so nice and welcoming. I highly recommend this salon! read more

"When your hair gets touched by an angel, you've experienced a miracle" this is what I felt after Ariel was done with my hair. I had booked a cut and balayage appt with Ariel after seeing her works on Instagram. I knew The Haven Salon had many talented stylist and Ariel had an opening. Our appt was at 8am and she greeted me with a smile and was very welcoming. I showed her some pictures but I told her to "Do her thing". I had that much trust in her abilities and boy it payed off! I wanted an ashy brown-blonde balayage, but she was honest that "she could take it there" but at the expense of my hair. I like how honest she is, most stylist would say yes and then let the client live with the damage. Ariel isnt one of them, which is a breath of fresh "hair" this is phase 1 and I cant wait for Phase 2 with ariel! I knew my hair was healthy because it still felt soft and had dimensions. Ariel knows how to lay the balayage to create different tones and movement as seen in the photos. These are no filter photos and the tones changes relative to the light source. read more

I've been a regular customer here since October and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet! This one's for Alexis. She specializes in color, haircuts, hair extensions, and eyelash extensions as well. I always ask for purple ombré and she delivers. I wanted eyelash extensions and I was satisfied. It felt light, yet it looked voluminous and full! She's the best hands down. I tell her what I want and she does exactly how I picture it to be! Sometimes she even gives me her ideas and it always turns up better than mines, lol! I don't think I trust anyone else with my hair anymore. Thanks Alexis for always making me look fabulous! read more

I never write reviews on here, but I felt like I needed to this time! In the past year and a half, I've spent a total of $640 on my hair. I wanted a ombré style look with blonde and not orange caramel colored. Everyone I ever went to always said that they couldn't get my hair blonde because I have "warmth." In a nutshell, GO TO BRENDA! Literally, where has she been my whole life? Finally I've found someone who can eliminate the red and bring in the cool blonde I've been looking for! GET A COLOR CORRECTION from her! Had Mia fix my bleached out hair, turning Chola look, to style, sleek, mature sexy fresh color look. I love it!! After doing a consultation with her, she got me! She understood, listened, and followed through. I'm impressed! She did a reverse balayage, running a little natural dark through, giving me dimension rather than the one grown out color. It's so pretty!! Go see Mia! read more

So I was in the mood to try something new, like getting my hair colored for the first time. I stopped by The Haven Salon and Alexis was able to squeeze me in that day! When I first walked in, I fell in love with the salon. It was really cute and definitely didn't give off the corporate salon vibe (which I've never been fond of). I was even offered refreshments! For my appointment, I brought in a picture for reference and told Alexis what I did and didn't want. I'm always a little nervous in new hair salons because I always feel the stylist wants to do why THEY want or what THEY think is best for you. But not Alexis... She gave me exactly what I wanted and I was incredibly pleased. She was really kind, easy to talk to, and just an overall accommodating person :) I will definitely be back for more! read more

The Haven Salon - Before and after! So pleased! - Hair Salons Near Me - Los Alamitos, California

I came in two weeks ago to fix a haircut that I did myself. I know, I know..but after a couple of YouTube videos, I thought I could do it! I've been growing my hair out for the past 5 years without any cut or dye. Once I got married in June, I wanted to cut all my hair off. So I did haha Maddy was available for a last minute cut and she took me in and made my vision for what I wanted my cut to be come to life! I absolutely loved it and received many compliments. I recently just came in to add some color to my hair and Maddy once again, nailed it. I highly recommend this salon and high recommend Maddy! read more
