I had never experimented with hair dye before I came to this place. Needless to say, I was nervous during my consultation and felt like I've lived under a rock because I didn't understand terms like "tone," "lifting," or what the difference was between balayage & ombré. I have short hair--specifically what they call a two-block haircut, made popular by male Korean pop stars--and I was afraid that I couldn't perfectly describe what I wanted in terms of color or how I wanted the end result to look like. I want to achieve either a dark gray or a light gray depending on which one looks better with my skin tone. And I didn't want just standard highlights; I wanted to dye the the crown of my head and not the shorter hair underneath. And Maybellene came through! Let me tell you, Maybellene is a godsend! She's got tons of experience working with hair dyes and she's also got experience cutting hair too! Plus, she's a SWEETHEART to boot! What more could you want in a hair dresser?!? Maybelleneis very patient and I wasn't afraid to ask her any questions I had about the process, what she was putting in my hair, or questions I have about aftercare. She also doesn't try to suggest things unless you've specifically asked for her recommendations. So whatever color you want, whatever style you want it in, she'll do her best to achieve and you won't be disappointed! Because I have short hair and Maybellene's only dyeing the crown portion of my head, she was fair about pricing with me and posted it at $80/session without the tip. Please tip your hair dressers!!! Especially if they did a bangin' job! So far I've only gotten one bleaching session done out of three to get down to the gray I want, so I'll keep updating as we go along! I've been debating to write this review for personal reasons. But this review is solely based on my hair stylist, Maybellene. She has been dying and cutting my hair for a few months now. Not only is she a talented stylist but she is a great person with a genuine heart, so down to earth. I arrived to my first appointment based solely on ideas and pictures. I wanted the "Balayage" look, without drastically changing my hair. She was able to create the look by darkening my roots, adding some highlights and keeping my natural tints of red. I was highly impressed! She has a "good hand" meaning she cuts very well. My hair stays healthy and grows fast. She isn't scissor happy. If you ask for a certain length, she honors it. Prices are fair and honest. Lastly, she makes you feel welcome and comfortable. My first appointment, my babysitter cancelled on me. I was forced to take my kids (8 yr old & 1 yr old) until my husband could meet me after work. Everything that day went wrong! It was most definitely challenging. There was a stylist who was obviously very irritated and annoyed with my children. I don't think she has children or much experience with children.. At one point even told them to sit still. But Maybellene helped me stay calm, took many breaks and stayed late to finish my hair. I was truly thankful. Some quick advice, never try to discipline another woman's child. Especially a mom who has had a tough day. Since then, I generally keep to myself. In and out! I HIGHLY recommend Maybellene! You will not be disappointed. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I've never hated my hair so much. I have my own stylist but when she was on vacation I went here to get a freshen up on my ends, chocolate brown and a trim. And my stylist, Hailey, put me in the sink and poured black all over my head and then continued to hack into my hair creating an unbearable "style". If you don't know how to cut hair you shouldn't be doing it! And how is chocolate brown, black?! I told her I hated it and wanted it fixed but she said that I would have to wait 2 weeks to fix it? Really? I've never cried over my hair before but this certainly made me cry. As soon as my hairdresser was back in town she set up an emergency appointment with me to fix it. My experience here was really unorofessional and unfriendly. I will never recommend this salon to anyone. read more

What a terrible experience! I had an appointment with Natasha, and I had to get another haircut right after I left. She cut very distinct heavy layers in my very fine limp hair, and when I got home I also noticed the top layer in back was crooked. When she finished the initial cut, I wasn't super happy in general but I could tell the back was really bad. I told her the layers were too heavy and needed to be blended more. She did something to try to change it, but it didn't seem like there was any difference at all. She asked if it was better, and I said something to the effect of "not really." She offered to keep trying, telling me she guaranteed her haircuts, but I was worried that the situation might become irreparable, so I declined and made a beeline for the till. As I paid full price for a haircut I was clearly quite dissatisfied with, she went on to try to upsell me on the products she'd been pushing throughout the appointment, then to urge me to make another appointment in 6-9 weeks. An unconventional way to handle a displeased customer for sure. I left feeling like aside from missing out on a product commission she couldn't have cared less. In response to Natasha: I guess she and I disagree about what layers should look like. I assumed they would more subtle, or at least straight. I asked her to stop cutting my hair because I was not satisfied, which I very clearly expressed when I asked her to stop trying to fix it. If I said anything to the effect that I was satisfied, which I don't recall having done, it was to hasten my retreat. I did leave a tip. As a former customer service worker, I always tip based on the full price regardless of quality of service, I just don't think it's classy not to. read more

The day she did my hair she was fighting with her boyfriend, she went into the bathroom to fight with him on the phone and she left the product on my hair to long. As you state if I was not taking care of my hair, than she should have known better than to do another process. Her hair had been treated badly and from the before and after pictures I'm attaching, you can see the color contrast between the dye and her natural gray growing out was quite noticeable! I love me some Natasha because she made me love my hair again! I don't say that lightly too...I've never had the wonderful, thick, glossy hair that my island brothers and sisters are so well known for. That was made all the more apparent when I lost what little hair I already had over ten years ago in a car accident that resulted in a serious head injury and terrible scarring all over my scalp. I mean you know shit gets real when your 60-something year old father starts talking to you about combovers, y'all... Luckily, I can say that most of the hair was recovered through time and proper diet and exercise, but it was never the same. It was brittle, broke easily and shed even more easily. I could tell that a lot of hair stylists were reluctant to work on me because they didn't really know how to handle my hair/scalp/head situation and still give me a flattering look. And those kind, nonjudgmental stylists who I did frequent were very kind but I have to be honest in saying that I gave them my business more for the way they treated me and not as much for how they actually treated my hair. Natasha, however, not only treated me with kindness, and without judgment when she first saw my hair (and believe me, it was a hot, overgrown, knotted mess from how often I tried to color and cut it on my own) - she gave my hair the same VIP treatment! I always thought that going blonde would be too much for my scalp, especially post-accident, but she convinced me that it was possible - and now I walk around like I have a halo of gorgeous caramel and honey highlights around my head - oh because guess what, I DO!!! And I no longer have envy...ok, at least not as much envy...for the thick, luscious manes of my cousins in Hawaii because Natasha might have converted me to this short, sexy and sassy 'do forever! But....even if I ever do change my mind, I know that Natasha will steer me in the right direction. So I just show up (often late, because I live in Hollywood but still think it's worth it to come all the way here every other month), sit my booty down in that chair and let Natasha work her magic. I don't even have to say anything and I know whatever happens is going to be phenomenal...and since she decided my spring/summer look I can't wait to see what she has in store for me for fall! As far as the boring stuff: PRICES: Very reasonable, about $100 for cut, deep conditioning and highlights. Did I mention that whatever she massaged into my hair has kept it from getting all tangled and messy like it normally does after a week of my other hair appointments? LOCATION: Next door to a nail bar. Get your beauty needs all done in one shot, ladies. PARKING: There's a small lot since this is located in a small strip mall next to a gas station. Parking usually isn't a problem, but if the parking in the strip mall is taken up, then usually you can park at the gas station with no problem. read more
