In desperation I started asking around, looking for someone who could give me a variation on a wolf cut- I wanted to be sure I connected with a stylist who could meet me where i'm at and respect what I wanted. She is super chill and makes sure you feel comfortable, especially because the process can usually take a couple of hours. I've loved every design they've done on my hair. This was from 2022 so I can't dictate whether it's the same but review is for marky, not good with blonde. Came in with virgin hair (dark brown almost black) and left super patchy. I was trying to be understanding because I know lightening dark hair takes a long time (took 6 hours and she had other clients after) and my hair is thick. The top and random patches were a more silver/platinum blonde while the ends were more brassy and orange. I was told I can come in within the next 24 hours to get it toned again if I didn't like it but 1) it couldn't fit within my schedule with work and 2) the tips at the bottom were too dark to be toned out, it needed a second bleaching. $400 + 60 tip to be polite because it was 6 hours of work. I hope and presume it can be fixed the next session when I came back for my roots when they inevitably grew out. Nope. Roots were also super orange and brassy, had bad banding despite me coming in before they got too long. $300 for roots. I stopped coming after that as the patchiness was not worth almost $900. I got my roots done elsewhere and the hairdresser could not believe I didn't do the bleach job myself and went to a professional salon. read more

Loved my haircut- went to make a second appointment six weeks later and the price had gone from $65 to over $100. (the stylist says that her price was $80 and that she has eliminated tipping in a personal text message to me after they saw this review was posted but to my memory it was 65, I would not have booked it anyone over $75 and the website says nothing about tipping being removed) I do a pixie cut which to maintain takes about 30 minutes for a seasoned stylist. I really loved the salon, but they raised the rates by 40-50% in the last six weeks taking a haircut that was $65 ($75) and making it $100 I just can't afford to spend that much on a short haircut I did reach out to the salon to ask them what the new price was because the price it was asking me to commit to just said 100+, which means that it didn't even tell me how much more than $100 the haircut was going to be , but they declined to respond. (it was only after I posted this review that I got a response, the response said basically that the price increase wasn't that much, they eliminated tipping, and that if I couldn't afford her anymore that was OK) Yelp really should raise them to three monies, this is not a two money salon. So you absolutely will get a haircut that you love, but you're going to be paying Beverly Hills prices for it I would recommend continuing to shop around before committing to this salon as you don't know whether or not the prices will go up again by a great deal without warning between haircuts, (As an example in 2018 the owner posted that a bob haircut was $55, which means the prices have doubled in six years) but you will get a lovely haircut for the price. Just be aware the price is a bit steep. read more

I had a hair appointment with Cassandra and OH MY GOD She was so chill and nice and really helpful when hearing about my hair needs, she'd would walk me through what she would be doing with my hair based on my needs. Its been THREE YEARS since i had my hair cut professionally (ive been cutting it myself for that time) so i was wary of who id let cut my hair but this place was really nice, it felt like an alternative vibe where i felt welcomed and there were others like me since i tend to lean away for the traditional vibe. place looked awesome, it was very straightforward and i left with a short wolfcut/hushcut hybrid and im so happy i couldnt stop taking pictures. Was looking for an edgy/alternative salon in the LA area, and this Long Beach location was a hop/skip/jump away for me. I was nervous about chopping hair that came to nearly hip length and had been growing out for 4+ years. I recommend STASI & her wonderful assistant! After a brief consultation and reviewing one of the inspo photos I uploaded into the appointment scheduler (Tip: be sure to have your inspo photos easy on hand!), Stasi confirmed with me the details of each aspect of the cut I wanted: length, bang length, overall look. What was really cool was how Stasi checked in the emotional aspects of what changes I was nervous about and tailored her decisions to that. She was also very receptive to feedback. This review is long overdue as i've been coming here for years, but this salon is amazing and I don't trust any other place with my hair! I've had a few different hairstylists (I wish I could remember their names! I know one was Casandra) and every one of them has been great, but i've gone to Stasi the last few times and girl has AHmazing skills. She does the cut exactly how I want, i've never been disappointed, I always get compliments on the bangs she cuts for me. I cut my very long, boring one-length hair a few weeks ago and I love it so much, I was a little scared to cut it but I trust her judgement and she did not disappoint! I showed her some pictures I found online as reference, and they weren't even the clearest pictures, and she worked her magic and I couldn't love this cut more, I get compliments often and people asking me where I got it and I always refer them to Stasi. I have been going here since they opened in 2017. I always book with Marisa, the owner, and so far I have never been let down. She is talented and experienced but also intuitive and an artist in my opinion. She is great with textured haircuts but does a good job on more blunt/sleek styles as well. I get compliments every time I get my hair cut here. I'm pretty picky and usually know exactly what I want and I always leave with exactly that. I even tried to make the uncomfortable experience a little better by asking her to get some thing for me to put some space between us. She just came back and immediately had the same negative aura. Sure, there was a mix-up with the specific service requested, but is that really a justification for the poor way it was handled? It is a shame because I actually really enjoy the overall vibe of the salon but the customer experience with Markie was so memorable in the worst possible way. I got my first haircut with Stasi this past weekend and am so happy that I was referred to her. It was super easy to book and Stasi really took the time to make sure we were on the same page. One thing that I really like is that she charges an hourly rate with no tipping. In the past I've had a lot of anxiety over tipping, especially when I wouldn't know what the total cost would be at the end of an appointment, depending on what was being done. It gave me so much anxiety that I would avoid getting my hair done altogether. With the hourly rate I don't need to stress out and am happy to pay more knowing I won't have to do quick math at the end of the appt. I got my haircut with Shelby. She's so amazing! Finding a a hairdresser for curly hair is so hard to find! I'm so happy I found her. My curls were so limp and dry and she sat with me and gave me such great tips and products that worked specifically for my needs and routine. I just went back for a maintenance cut (3 months after initial cut) and there has already been such a difference! My hair looks fuller, my curls are more hydrated and they look so much more bouncy. I've been going to this salon for a little over 6 years. Blue is the person to go to for all your bleach fantasies. They are a master with color blends and bleaching in general, without damaging your tresses as much. I've been to my fair share of hair colorists, and no one keeps my locks as healthy from constant bleaching as this amazing human. Also one of the owners, Marissa makes these super rad "muppets" art from old colored tresses found all over the salon.
