I had the absolute pleasure of working with Shanji for both my Nikkah and Mehndi, and she was nothing short of amazing. Her talent speaks for itself. She also made sure each look was unique to the event while still feeling true to me. Beyond her incredible skill, what made her truly special was her warmth, calm energy, and professionalism. She was such a great listener and made sure I felt comfortable and confident every step of the way. She genuinely kept me grounded during the chaos of wedding prep and set the tone for my celebrations in the best possible way. Shanji went above and beyond for me in every sense. She cared deeply about how I felt, stayed attentive to every little detail, and made me feel so beautiful from the inside out. If you want someone who can not only make you look stunning but also make your wedding days feel peaceful and joyful, I cannot recommend Shanji enough. She is truly exceptional. read more

I had an AMAZING experience working with Shanji for both my nikkah and wedding looks. She was punctual, came prepared, and knew exactly what she was doing. I was pretty nervous leading up to the big weekend since I'm not someone who wears a ton of makeup but Shanji made sure that I felt/looked like myself. She reassured me and kept me calm on my big day which was SO helpful because I was able to enjoy being a bride. My hair and makeup looked flawless even after the end of a 12+ hour day and I was very impressed by the quality of her work. I got so many compliments on my look for both days and Im so happy I chose her to be a part of my big day. 100% reccomend booking her for yoru HUMA needs. read more

Shanji is complete magic when it comes to her skill as a HMUA. Two of my closest family friends recommended her for my bridal hair and makeup. I had the opportunity to see her work at my friend's wedding and within 5 minutes of meeting her I knew that I wanted her to be my HMUA for my wedding - I was so confident with her abilities that I opted not to do a HMU trial prior to my wedding! She is incredibly professional while also being personable; her vibes are impeccable -- calming and warm all at the same time. Leading up to my wedding I spoke to her a few times and shared my vision with her. She was open to everything and also provided her professional guidance when I wasn't sure what to do hair/makeup/jewelry wise. She draped my sari/dupatta and jewelry beautifully. I couldn't be happier with SD Artistry Pro; she did phenomenal work and I would highly recommend her without hesitation to any future bride! Thank you so much Shanji!!! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Aside from my husband, choosing Shanji was the best decision I made on my wedding! She is an incredibly detailed, talented, and wonderful artist who made my experience amazing from start to finish. To start, Shanji was very communicative (which is hard to find with any vendor during the busiest wedding season of the century). She was quick to reply and answer my questions. Upon booking she sent me a detailed PDF outlining exactly what I should expect through the process and giving me tips on how to prepare for my big day. I loved that!! Ahead of the event we had a FaceTime meeting where she asked me all the necessary questions about what I wanted, examples of my ideal look, and how my hair and skin function. From other brides I've spoken to no one else does this! She demonstrated the unique attention to detail she gives to every bride by gaining a thorough understanding ahead of time. I already felt like I was in great hands. On the day of my events Shanji continued her effective and great communication by keeping me updated on her ETA and reminding me what to prepare. For an anxious bride on a day where everything feels chaotic this was the calm I needed! Shanji took her time with my looks, perfecting each detail. The best part was how comfortable she makes you feel. I was alone with shanji about to leave for a very special day in my life and I felt like I was with a stand-in sister who reminded me to be excited and wished me all the good prayers before I departed. My hair and makeup were better than I had imagined them to be and they stayed the entire night, withstanding sweat, and tears and 106 degree weather. I have genuinely never felt more beautiful in my life! I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Shanji on such a special moment. Thank you for all the hard work and heart you put into your work Shanji, your brides love you! read more

I had the best experience with SD Artistry Pro. I booked her for my wedding event. She was very professional and communicated very well from the beginning. We had a FaceTime consultation to go over what look I wanted. She asked me important questions to make sure she could provide the best service possible. The actual session went pretty smoothly. She did my skin prep, makeup, hair, outfit and jewelry setting. She made me look and feel the prettiest on my special day. Everyone at my wedding complimented me on my makeup. I didn't have to touch up or reapply my lipstick even after eating. It stayed nicely throughout the entire event. (The picture is actually taken after the event). Shanji is amazing!!! Let me tell you..not a smear, smudge, or crease! We began my makeup at 10am, my reception was 4pm- 11pm and I didn't even have to re-apply my lipstick, not once all day! All I had to do was send her inspo pics and she knew exactly what I wanted and did it even better! I was super anxious that morning, what bride isn't. She turned on spa music to help my nerves, you can tell this isn't her first rodeo. She went above and beyond, I couldn't ask for anything more from a HMUA. Extremely happy bride! read more

Shanji is amazing and a true expert in her craft. She did my bridal and mehndi makeup/hair and did an amazing job. My makeup lasted all day (10+ hours). I'm still getting compliments on my looks 2 months later! What I loved most about working with Shanji is that she really tries her best to accomplish her bride's vision. I was so worried about my makeup being too heavy on my wedding day that I sent Shanji tons of inspiration photos beforehand and also booked a trial. Shanji noted down the specific aspects of my look that I wanted so that the process on my wedding day was seamless. She never made me feel bad about my requests and instead provided helpful suggestions and feedback. She is very professional, listens well, and had great communication during the entire process. She also provided a calming, soothing presence on my chaotic wedding day. Overall, Shanji went above and beyond and I would highly recommend her! read more

Shanji is a magician with her makeup brushes. I wanted to look like the best version of myself and she listened to my needs. She made me look so fabulous that I never imagined I could look like that. I felt so confident. I'm self conscious about my nose but she contoured it and gave me the cutest straight nose with button tip. The makeup was full coverage but felt very light weight. Loved my hair, old Hollywood glam waves for my first look and beautiful updo with loose curls peaking out. I loved my makeup look so much I broke a cardinal rule and slept in my makeup just so I could wake up and see the beautiful artistry she created and appreciate my inner and outer beauty before I washed it all off. read more

If you are looking for a south asian bridal make up artist to make you feel and look like a queen - SD Artistry should be your first stop. I live in SF but was getting married back home in Orange County. Consult: I sent Shanji pictures of the looks that I wanted to accomplish and we talked about my skin and she was great to recommend ways to enhance my look and where to get floral for my hair. As I got my outfits from India she came with new ideas and great tips about zip placement and jewelry pieces to consider. Scheduling: Being a COVID bride Shanji was super flexible with my multiple date and venue changes. She worked with me every step of the way. Day of: I had Shanji do my Sangeet and Wedding day looks, she was on time and fully prepared with face mask and shield. I could not have been more happier with the result because she delivered to the T. I also love that she only does bridal so it is full focus on just me. The attention to detail is what makes Shanji a great HMUA! Thank you so much Shanji! p.s. my future sister-in-law just booked her for their wedding - so book SD Artistry soon! :) read more

If I could give Shanji 10 stars I would because that's how incredible my experience was with her!! To start off, Shanji first did my hair and makeup for my pre-wedding photoshoot. What I absolutely loved about that experience was not just that she is extremely talented but also that she is extremely approachable, incredibly detailed and wonderful to work with! These qualities are so important to make you feel calm on your wedding day. We discussed my vision for my wedding day as well but about a week prior to the wedding, we again went over my outfits, jewelry and she asked me to send her inspiration photos of my vision. She suggested her ideas as well and what would compliment my outfit and jewelry which I appreciated a lot! The day of the wedding, she was prompt and professional and arrived right on time. There was a lot of chaos around me as can be expected on your wedding day but she helped me stay as calm as possible! My hair and makeup was truly well beyond my imagination and I cannot thank her enough!! I then had to quickly change for my reception and Shanji re-did my entire hair with extensions and makeup. I did not feel rushed and again she made me feel and look very elegant and beautiful! My makeup lasted the entire time even with a lot of dancing and sweating! I HIGHLY recommend her! The one thing I do regret is the fact that I was not able to book her for my Sangeet because she was already pre-booked that day. So I would suggest future brides to not think twice and book her quickly! read more

Shanji is a queen at hair and makeup! She is amazing at what she does and I'm so grateful she was my bridal hair and makeup artist. She really treats makeup and hair as an art and you can see that in the finished looks of her brides. I fell in love with her work when I found her on Instagram and knew right away I wanted her as my wedding makeup artist! She is very professional and provided me with service details and scheduled a consultation right after I contacted her. She's also very responsive - any questions or concerns I had she would answer immediately, which is so helpful for any bride planning a wedding! She even referred me to the henna artist I ended up having at my mehndi. I was amazed at Shanji's skill and confidence - I chose to do just the consultation (she also offers a full trial if you wish) where she goes over your skin type, what kind of bridal look you want, and tests out foundation, lipstick and lashes. That's all she needed to know what kind of makeup and tools she would need on the day of my event. She gave me exactly the look I wanted on both my mehndi and wedding day and I never felt more beautiful! The makeup did not budge all day! I also don't usually wear falsies, so I was happy that Shanji was able to apply them so seamlessly - they were so comfortable on my eyelids! And as she did my makeup, I felt so relaxed and pampered. I also chose to do jasmine flowers and extensions for my looks, and they stayed in place without needing any touchups. She even provided a little kit of touchup essentials just in case! I had a church ceremony followed by a glam reception, so I wanted an elegant look to go with my white dress and a more glam look to go with the sari I would change into. Shanji made sure my makeup and hair fit with both - all I had to do was replace my lip color during the reception with the lip paint she gave me to match my sari. I was so happy with my entire wedding look and felt like a queen all day! Thank you, Shanji! read more

She made me feel very relaxed (I even fell asleep while she was doing my makeup and she just quietly worked, didn't bother waking me up). Shanji did my nikkah makeup and I must say she is very professional and knows what she is doing. She is very knowledgeable and ran me through the entire process. She answered every question I had before we started. What I appreciated most about her is that she was very quick to reply to any emails/ text messages and discussed everything upfront. About two weeks before my event, she scheduled a FaceTime consultation with me, discussing my expectation for the big day and how I should prep my skin. She further attended to any concerns I had regarding skin, hair, and look. Her professionalism, fast communication, and keeping on top of everything while I was super overwhelmed by the wedding chaos made me feel that my nikkah was as important to her as it was to me. Shanji took care of my wedding weekend glam all the way in Rome, Italy! As a Chinese bride having a desi, Chinese, AND western wedding, I needed someone who could understand all the nuances and needs for so many things. I searched far and wide before I found her and I'm so glad I did. We did a trial before heading to Italy to get to know each other more and work out all our looks (I had 5 different ones!) and she made me feel so comfortable and beautiful even then. She planned meticulously with me for every look and understood my vision, and was detailed with me down to my outfit colors and jewelry. The results were beautiful for all of the events, even through the stress of having major look changes on a short time crunch in a foreign country! First and foremost shanji is a ROCKSTAR person! Covid made us push back the wedding 3 times. I reached out to her 1 week before my wedding (3rd attempt lol) and by the grace of god was able to book her. From our initial phone call she was perfect! We brainstormed both looks for about 30 mins, whilst the whole time reassuring me that everything's going to be okay we exchanged visions of what we thought would suit me best and boy did she deliver! She took my vision of how I wanted to look and blew it out of the park! 10/10 would recommend to all my friends and family. She really understood lighting and dimensions, made me look perfect for my pictures which really is the most important factor of a wedding! Love you forever shanji read more

I am deeply deeply thankful to Shanji! I didn't have a trial but she made sure to keep the conversation going from the minute I booked her. I booked her 6 months in advance and from then on, she constantly kept in touching asking me to send inspo and what kind of look I was going for. I was anxious that I didn't do a makeup trial but from her work i saw on Instagram, I knew I was in good hands. She came to my house with the tightest schedule possible (completely my fault!). She managed to do my hair, my makeup, wrap my saree, and drape the saree over my head in 3 hours!!!! In the middle of this, I had a crisis and started crying. She was so sweet about keeping me calm and got me back on track. I will forever remember how she made me feel that day. It was a tough day but she managed to get my mood back up and make me look and feel beautiful! Note, I am not used to wearing so much makeup but I noticed in pictures, it looked incredible ! Shanji had done my hair/sari draping/ dupatta placement for my impromptu wedding and I couldn't have been happier! Since my wedding date was decided fairly quickly I didn't have enough time to grow my hair out for the traditional bridal bun with jasmine flowers (South Indian style) that I had always wanted. I showed Shanji the look I was going for through pictures and she absolutely nailed the look during my trial. (Honestly it was even better than my inspo pictures- which got me even more excited for my big day!) I was so amazed on how she transformed my short hair to a full on bridal bun. The best part was my hair looked even better than the trial on the day of my wedding. Shanji has such a great eye for detail and meticulously styled each piece of my hair to look amazing and to last all day and night. I received so many compliments! Not to mention Shanji also draped my saree and dupatta- both of which were picture perfect. Working with Shanji the day of my wedding has been an absolute blessing, not only did she make me look and feel like a true bride but was so accommodating to work with that I didn't feel any of the wedding stress. She was so professional, easy going, and kind which made dolling up that much more enjoyable. I definitely recommend Shanji for all your bridal needs! You won't be disappointed ! read more
