The names on the menu might be hard to pronounce but don't shy away from trying something new here! Everything tastes great here at DishDash. Came here last night for dinner (it was packed on a Wednesday night. I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation!) and I was feeling just a bit peckish so I wanted something small to pick at. After peeking at dishes from other tables, I decided to order a salad because their entree plates looked ginormous. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with lamb (medium rare) and it went above and beyond my expectations in both size and quality. The salad is big enough for two, maybe even three people, it's super filling. I loved the roasted bell pepper and eggplant that topped the salad. The lamb was probably the best I've ever had. The salad had 4 chunks of lamb and each chunk was cooked to perfection; tender, juicy, and was rich in flavor. I ended up finishing all the lamb and had half the salad left over. Ambiance here is pretty cozy, lighting is pretty dim. You can also sit outside and enjoy a view of DT Sunnyvale. I would definitely consider this as a date night type of place! read more

We came around 630 on a Saturday night. It was super busy, and they told us it was going to be a 30 minute wait. We signed up for their text message alerts so that we could walk around the block (it's a really nice feature), but then it turned out that the wait was less than 10 minutes, since we didn't get too far when I got a text to start heading our way back to the restaurant. DishDash had very fresh food. We ordered the falafel dish as an appetizer. Along with that comes a complimentary bowl of pitas. There are A LOT of pitas for two people - so much so that we still had half of it left even though we ate a lot of it. I got the Beriyani Dajaj with chicken because of all of the reviews about it. It consists of thinly sliced chicken breast, potatoes, raisins, garbanzo beans, and aged yogurt. It was really just as good as the reviews say - it tasted almost like a light (very light) cury, and the raisins in them add a nice amount of sweetness to the dish. My partner had a lamb dish called the Sabanech Lamb, which on the menu seemed like a normal dish with a bit of sauce, if at all: slow-cooked lamb, spinach, black-eyed beans, onions, fresh dill, dry lime. However, it ended up being more like a stew than a dish with some sauce on the side, and he said he wished he could have known that since it was too watery for his taste, and sour as well. There were some crispy chip-like things in it, but it got soggy since the dish is pretty stew-like. He wasn't a big fan of it. The annoying thing about the day was that we asked to pack our leftovers, and the waitress was nice enough to pack it. However, she didn't ask if we wanted our half basket of pitas, and just left. Shortly after, some guy came and picked up the whole basket, presumably to throw away, when we would have easily taken it instead of wasting it. It's kind of emblematic of their rushed service since their restaurant is so busy. read more

We eat at Dish dash since 2002 never disappoints, great quality of food great flavors and service. Best falafel you can eat in Northern California , not to mention the Shawerma and the top quality meat . We go to dish dash in Sunnyvale if we want a nice cozy dinner . We go to dish and dash when we are hungry and in hurry but still want to eat a good fresh healthy meal . Not to mention the beautiful modern design and the great service . When I have an event or a gathering dish dash team is there for me starting from ordering to delivery to service to great quality food and flavors . read more

One of my favorite places to go out for a work lunch! DishDash is a quality restaurant with great food and service. Dishes are pricey but make a nice treat. I last ordered the fattoush salad, add eggplant and chicken shawarma. Their salads here are big and filling! This one had a little too many herbs in it but it was still tasty. Their proteins are always flavorful and cooked perfectly. Plus, there's something here for everyone. Would highly recommend! read more

I came here on a Friday night around 7pm for a celebration dinner and was surprised to find that the wait wasn't as long as I would expect. This place is extremely popular and always have a wait. When I signed in, I was told the wait for a party of 5 would be around 30-45 minutes. For managing the waitlist, they have a texting system that alerts you when your table is almost ready, which is really helpful. I think they overestimate the wait time though, since I was notified that our table was ready 10-15min after they told me the wait would be 30min. They do take reservations, so I also highly recommend making a reservations a couple days in advance if you are planning for a special dinner. We were seated in the back room, and I was surprised to find out how big the restaurant is as we walked towards the furthest section. This is definitely a decently sized restaurant, so that might be why the turnaround time isn't as bad as they estimate it to be. Our server was extremely friendly and took the time to make recommendations to us. He told us what was popular and helped us decide on dishes that we weren't sure on. They serve pita bread before your meal, and it's easy to accidentally overeat when you're hungry. Make sure to save stomach space for the actual entrees as they're really big in portion and super delicious! We ordered a maza sampler for four, two kebab combos, a beriani, and mansaf. For the kebab combo, you can have to choice between lamb and beef. Unless you really like lamb, I recommend getting the beef. I think my favorite dish out of everything was probably the Beriyani. The sauce was creamy and the meat was really tender. It was a really savory and satisfying dish, almost like a comfort food! Can't wait to come back and try other dishes! read more

I came in here for a weekday lunch - after almost 3-4yrs. Alas, the food didn't taste as good. The falafel tabsi that is usually flavorful lacked flavor altogether. It was definitely short on salt, but besides that the dish felt like it was missing some spices. Overall, the whole dish was bland and lacking any flavor. read more

Came here before the new year and had this place bookmarked for a while. You can tell if a Middle Eastern restaurant is legit by its hummus. Hummus was super creamy and flavorful. If I hadn't been with family, I would have eaten it on my own. The fattoush salad was perfectly dressed- you could taste the sumac and pomegranate molasses. I could have stopped at those two plates but we looked forward to our entrees. I ordered a chicken shawarma with fries. It had potential--I've had better. My MIL ordered the chicken and lamb with smoky freekeh and grilled Brussels sprouts. Honestly her dish was amazing. Meat was well seasoned and juicy . Took leftovers. My husband ordered the mansaf which was cooked with a twist rather traditionally. It was good but heavy. Despite being stuffed, we wanted or at least me I wanted to try the knafeh. I would skip it--wasn't sweet. Overall, waiter and service was nice. Make sure to be seated away from door as it was cold and we moved to the back. I would come back again :) read more

Very good food. I love the kebabs. Portions served are big for me and I can usually get two meals out of one plate. I look forward to leftovers the next day! The hummus appetizer with chicken is also a tasty treat. Pita bread is always fresh & soft. read more

Very cozy restaurant. I enjoy how elegant the inside of the restaurant appeared. The servers were attentive and had a positive attitude. The food was 10/10 I ordered 1 beef kabob, 1 chicken Kabob plate with a glass of Cabernet everything was so delicious! For dessert I had the mint tea with a kanafa. The Kanafa was okay but the tea was exquisite. Overall had a great dining experience and I highly recommend this restaurant as I will be going back for more soon. read more

I will be forever grateful to DishDash for making me fall in love with the flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine years ago. There are not many restaurants I'm normally willing to visit over and over again, and this is one of the select few! Do make a reservation, as this place gets busy for good reason, but prepare to be amazed at the super flavorful, delicious, quality food! The modern atmosphere and service are unfailingly hospitable--we always start with a basket of warm pita bread and a delicious, thick za'atar and olive oil dip! But it's the entrees that I always come for and fall in love with every time! The first time I tasted DishDash's mansaf (lamb chunks in aged yogurt sauce), I immediately was entranced by the deep, tangy, umami flavors, and every time I go back, it's just as good as the first! I'd highly recommend getting this dish with the freekeh, a smoky green wheat that's nutty and really stands up to the thick aged yogurt sauce! I also tried the delicious salmon tabsi, a simple salmon fillet sitting on a tomato sauce made with eggplant, onions, peppers, and dry lime with a mild curry seasoning! The shish taouk (grilled chicken skewers with seasonal asparagus) was juicy and perfectly cooked--but the real highlight of this dish was the spicy green chili sauce that came on the side! And finally, I had the sambusak, a dish of three filo pastries filled with a piping hot mixture of swiss chard, leeks, spinach, eggplant, and feta, all sitting on an amazing herbed tahini sauce with little mounds of refreshing tomato-cucumber salad! Wow.. the filo dough was so crispy and flaky, and the vegetable filling was just so tasty and satisfying, especially when dipped into some of the tahini! I might've found a second favorite dish from this restaurant (alongside the mansaf, of course)! read more

Came here to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday this year, and the food was great! So many people compare it to Kabul which is just around the corner from this place. Similar in many ways but then again also very different. So what I liked about this place was that they have a more modern middle eastern feel. The decor is very mesmerizing and given you that feel you're stepping into a different world without overdoing it! We made reservations got there about 10 minutes late but we were seated almost immediately. We had a table in their back room and the waiters were quick about bringing out the bread and serving us water right away. We were a party of 8 for the night. We shared these appetizers: Maza sampler Lentil soup ( perfect for granny) ShishKebabs Many of us ordered the Mansaf and the beriani. Both were delicious and the beriani was my favorite. I loved the raisins in it. Gives it a very savory and sweet taste. read more

We celebrated our son's upcoming wedding with a Rehearsal Dinner at DishDash in Sunnyvale on Friday, Aug. 2nd. Nicole arranged the reservation from a distance for us, since we were not arriving in town until the day before the scheduled dinner. Upon arrival, we were conducted to the banquet room where Angelo proceeded to take our drinks order, suggest some appetizer plates to serve our 14 guests, and generally make us comfortable. He was very attentive all night, as were the other servers at our table. Our son and his fiance chose this restaurant because it is their favorite in the area, and I can see why. We wanted all of our guests to be able to order what they wanted from the menu rather than have a set menu. Everyone commented that their food was delicious, the service was terrific, and the ambiance was outstanding. We do not like when restaurants have canned music that is so loud that conversation cannot occur. If there was music, I didn't notice it because there was so much chatting, and getting to know each others families, which was just what we wanted! All in all, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who is already a fan of Middle Eastern food, or has never had it, but is willing to try it! Covers vegetarian options and environment. I enjoyed their vegetarian platter. It has a large variety of items, ranging from falafel to dolma to hummus. If you're not a cilantro or parsley fan, do ask them not to sprinkle it on top. The hummus here is sweeter than most places. I also ordered seasonal vegetables on the side, as well as the mango yogurt drink. The season vegetables were Brussels sprouts, which were cooked in some creamy sauce -- oily but tasty! The yogurt drink was nice, almost tasted like Indian lassi. They served with a paper straw, great! The acoustics were not good. During lunch hour, it was hard to even hear what the person diagonal from me was saying. Although they have space specifically for large groups, not the ideal location for a business meal. read more

This original location of DishDash is still my favorite to go to, despite being much close to the Milpitas location. This place is great for a date night! Make a reservation beforehand if it's important. The interior of this place is nicely decorated with paintings and artifacts hanging on the wall, which creates a relaxed yet upscale vibe. If you come by yourself or just want a drink, you can grab a seat at the bar. There are outdoor seating as well, great for a nice summer day. Service is always great, and the food is even better! Entree: M'shakaleh (my fav!) - This is a vegetarian dish with layered eggplant, mushroom, cauliflower, tomato (baked), topped with sliced almond with tomato-yogurt sauce. All the vegetables are cooked to perfection using this method of cooking. The waiter explained that all the ingredients are layered upside down first and baked in a bowl, then flipped over onto a plate for its final presentation. Tip: You can ask to add meat (it took me years to figure this out) and/or substitute the rice with freekeh (an ancient grain with higher protein content). Combo Kabob - a giant plate consisted of 3 different meats, chicken, kufta (minced beef & lamb), and choice of lamb or beef. The meat was tender, even the chicken. I enjoy the cilantro dipping sauce on the side so I just poured it over the chicken. The portion is big enough for at least 2 people to share. Makloubeh - chicken breast with layers of eggplant, cauliflower, carrots, basmati rice topped with pine nuts. It was new so I tried it. I found it to be very similar to M'shakaleh but not as good (just being honest). This chicken breast was probably the most moist ones I've had. Get it if you are a chicken lover. Mansaf (4 stars) - lamb chunks in aged yogurt sauce. This is a great dish for lamb lover. The lamb was well-seasoned and so tender. However, the heaviness of the aged yogurt sauce became overwhelming towards the end. If you are looking for something light, chicken or lamb shawarma wrap or salad are great options. Dessert: Kenafeh - Orange-colored (but why?), thin strips of filo dough with cheese and rose water. The contradiction of the crunchy texture of the filo dough and the gooey cheese complement each other and make you come back for another bite immediately. The subtle rose smell took it to another level for your olfactory senses. Extra syrup on the side allows you to adjust the sweetness as you prefer. Baklava Crumble - baklava crumbles (flaky pastry trenched in sweet syrup topped with pistachio) sprinkled on top of vanilla ice cream. The cold, the hot, the soft, the crunchy, everything together creates the purest pleasure and the wildest party in your mouth. read more

Love the food and ambience! I have tried almost all their dishes and they are all amazing. I prefer the kufta over the chicken, beef lamb steak. It tastes amazing! I also enjoy their knafeh, it is so good. I can't eat the whole thing alone, better to share among two or three people (depends on how hungry you are I guess) I like to order their mint tea, it's infused with fresh mint leaves. Had the sumac chicken salad with the side of hummus and lentils. The chicken was grilled and charred to perfection, hummus was tasty, and my gawd the lentil soup was stellar and by far one of the best lentil soups I have ever had. Super busy during lunch and small parking lot with a bit of a wait depending on what you order. My salad was pretty quick and came out in 7 minutes or so. Would love to return to try their juices. read more

I usually go to the Dish Dash restaurant in Milpitas. This was my first time at the Sunnyvale restaurant. I came here for a birthday dinner with 2 other girlfriends and we absolutely loved it! We were absolutely blown away by the Rayesh- the rack of Lambs. It was hands-down the best lamb I have had ever! I enjoyed the service. Our waiter was very courteous and helpful. I also enjoyed that the fact that they sang happy birthday to my friend when they brought the dessert. I definitely recommend! read more

It's hard to believe I haven't given the Dishdash the public praise it deserves. The Sunnyvale location in particular. I honestly believe I have tired every item on the menu and I'm always dumbfounded how much care has gone into selecting the ingredients and how they are paired. Literally everything here, even the side sauces and the whole wheat pita bread just leaves you impressed with each bite. But my favs have been all the grilled meats and lamb. They also do fish here which is often overlooked but again it never fails. Even their vegetarian wrap, with diced fresh eggplant is crave worthy. Let me literally keep it rolling here with the praise and give them a round of applause for the falafels. And if you ever order to go, everything is neatly crafted and packaged, down to the utensils and three styles of sauces on the side. I love when establishments really show off why they should be trusted and are special in such ways. I'll probably never stop coming here. Or not recommend Dishdash to anyone. read more

This is a great choice for Mediterranean food in the Valley. It is located right in the heart of Sunnyvale, on Murphy Avenue. The quality of the food is great, service was excellent, and the atmosphere, decor and seating areas are all very welcoming. In addition to the main dining room, they also have a good size bar area with high top tables and booths, plus another section of regular tables. We sat in the bar area since we wanted to watch the NBA game and they have a few TVs covering the area. It worked out great. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the appetizer platter that had 6 different items including Hummus, Falafel, Greek salad, babaganoush, to our entrées. I had the Halibut dish and it was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning was excellent. And if you like bourbon, make sure you try their Old Fashioned prepared with fig infused bourbon, one of the best I've had. Cheers! read more

Came here for a birthday lunch and my expectations were met! This place is nearly 3700 review on Yelp, and it's been run by the same family for 18 years. The Mansaf and Beriani were the highlights of the meal. I recommend getting the Mansaf with freekeh and the Beriani with rice. Both dishes are creamy and spiced perfectly. No complaints from my end. Ended the meal with kenafeh, a Turkish dessert that consisted of fried noodles, cheese, drizzled with sweet rose syrup and topped with a pistachio crumble. This place is pricier than average, but would come again! Thank you Dishdash! read more

The flavors here are amazing. From the pita dipping oil to the entrees to the cocktails, every flavor impressed me. Make a reservation - this is a popular spot and gets quite busy. The service was a little slow for that reason as well. The pita comes warm and fluffy, with an herbed/spiced oil for dipping. Portions are huge! maza for two - this is enough for 3-4 if you are getting entrees as well. All the dips were classic and tasty. Came with 2 falafel. Makloubeh - very tasty chicken and vegetables over rice with a yogurt sauce. Mansaf - lots of lamb moved with rice over yogurt sauce. Definitely did not skimp on the meat. Beriani dajaj - highly recommend this dish. It is creamy and delicious! This is an awesome place for a date night or a nicer dinner. Delicious. read more

DishDash is the pride of Sunnyvale. Whenever someone who doesn't live in the area talks about food, they are the first name dropped. I've only tried a few of their dishes, but the kebabs are so good that is what I stick to now. Get the lamb. The rice and veggies are on point. read more

Yum! I really want to come back and try more foods. I went during lunch time and ordered take out. I should've called in and placed an order because it gets super busy! I had to wait about 20ish minutes for my takeout. I ordered the chicken schwarma in a pita with a side salad. The food was delicious! The food tasted fresh and flavorful. The pita wrap was soft and the amount of chicken fit perfectly in the pita. The chicken schwarma also came with a side of hot sauce. The hot sauce complimented the chicken schwarma very well. Even though I ordered takeout, the service was friendly and efficient. Every employee that walked past by me as I waited for my food, greeted me. read more

I tried their other location and was surprised to find a full restaurant compared to their other takeaway locations. Their menu was a little different too but dishes were still quite nice and more authentic than their other locations. Hearty falafel portions too! read more

The server did not like my $50 tip, stating 20% minimum gratuity, which came to be $90. After that insult and spending $590, the only thing we enjoyed was the pide. We will not go to any Meyhouse never again.

The fish was perfectly grilled and a great sized filet. 2. Falafel pita & falafel plate: the pita came with fries the plate came with veggies and rice. Both of the guests of our party that ordered these were quite happy with their order. 3. Beef kabob: these were large cubes of beef, that were seasoned well and grilled perfectly. You get a full skewer on a bed of rice and a side of vegetables. 4. Kufta kebob: which I ordered, and it was a large sized kabob that was bursting with flavor and juicy. On a bed of rice and a side of veggies. I wish they served basmati rice or a long grain rice and that the veggies were just grilled without the sauce. I felt the tomato sauce it was covered it overpowered the natural flavors of the array of veggies on the plate. 5. My mom ordered a 3pc lamb chops plate, and it typically comes over a bed of fries, but we substituted it for rice, and it came with the same side of veggies as the rest of ours. She said it was good and the size of the chops was decent. 6. I got there kind of late so the first half of our party ordered appetizers that we didn't get to try but I ordered an order of fried calamari and I must say my favorite part was what I think was a kalamata olive aioli. It was delicious! Will need to replicate at home. All in all, we were pleased and left satisfied and more importantly full. I'm sure we will be back!

The only feedback I have to improve service would be that they gave me the aluminum trays, just like that, and I had to carry hot trays to the car. Perhaps a sturdy bag or cardboard box carrier would be better, since the trays were quite hot to handle.

My sandwich was not good. The doner kebab meat was very dry and hard like jerky. This meat was not freshly made. It's as if it had been sitting there way too long and was just getting reheated all day. It was hard to chew and swallow. I was so disappointed with the quality of the meat. This was the complete opposite experience I had at the location on Coleman in San Jose. Their doner kebab was soft and moist. I will most likely not come back to this location again. I went up to the counter to let an employee know, the quality of the doner kebab was not good and should not be served to customers. I just got a blank stare from the employee, like he didn't know what to do or he didn't really care. To me, that's just bad customer service and terrible that they would be okay with serving old dried up meat like that, putting customers health at risk of getting sick. The gyro meat was soft and tasty but on the salty side. The Hummus was good especially topped with the chili sauce and pita. Chili sauce tasted like chili and salsa mixed together; added a little spice and slight sweetness. Pita was soft, fluffy inside and toasty grilled outside. The salad has a vinaigrette dressing which had sweet citrus flavor; complemented the other items on the plate. The Basmati rice was yummy, with butter flavor. The Falafel was soft almost fluffy inside vs dense. The outer fried layer had a nutty taste with cumin with slight spicy flavor. The Beek Kabab was ok. A bit tough but good seasoning. Also a bit expensive for $21 with only about 5 pieces of beef chunks. The Cheeseburger was ok. They had the self serve water cooler by the window so it doesn't really stay cold because it's directly hit by the sun. Good place to get food to go. You order using the kiosk tablet. They brought the food pretty quickly.

Actually a 4.5, an added bonus because of the accommodating service. Had dinner here last night with 3 girlfriends. If you go here on a Friday night, especially during the holiday season, be prepared to drive around in circles, following people like a shark, trying to find a parking spot! Man, every lot was full! And most of the restaurants as well, including this one, where we did have a reservation. Although it didn't start off the best, even WITH a reservation - I jumped out on the corner to run into the restaurant to let them know we were there for our 6:30P rez. The girl checking people in said "oh, you were supposed to be here at 6:30P" in a pretty snippy way. Being clueless on the time I asked what it was and she said "6:38P". Seriously? We're 8 min. late and you're giving me attitude? However, the girl standing behind her saved the day by saying "that's ok, I know parking's bad, we'll seat your party as soon as they get here". There's a series of dining rooms, and we were led to the on OFF the bar area, but it was full so we took a table in the bar. Very very loud (and crowded). I felt sorry for the poor servers, standing there with drinks, trying to get through the crowd. Not a good idea to sit there if you want to have any sort of conversation with tablemates! The other three girls split an appetizer that was made with minced lamb, phyllo dough and had a sauce with honey on it - kind of weird to have a sweet appetizer and only one of them liked it. I went with a lamb shish kabab, which was cooked PERFECTLY. It comes with a tiny cup of some cilantro-y sauce, and I'm not huge on cilantro but a tiny bit of it with the lamb was yummy. The other lamb order (thought to be the best thing of what we ordered) was smaller pieces of lamb, with rice in a "aged yogurt sauce". That sauce was great! We all tried her plate, and because my rice was very dry, I asked our server if I could have a small ramekin of it for my rice. She said it would be a few minute for them to make it and shortly afterward, came out with a cup of soup sized container, which we all sampled. I didn't like any of the roasted veggies offered and asked her if it was possible to substitute a small salad, or, if not, I could just give them to my veggie-loving friend. Her attitude was "no problem, happy to do that for you". The salad was wonderful, perfectly dressed, with tomato, feta, olives, onions. Very nice - while I haven't had BAD service eating out recently, I haven't had really GREAT service either, so I was impressed with our server and the rest of the staff, who were on top of things, filling water, asking if you wanted more pita bread (which is served with a nice dipping sauce), even though they were extremely busy. read more

WOW. . . . . My first 5 star review, and it is well deserved. You can sum this restaurant up with 3 words, Value, Quality, and Consistency. I was introduced to Dishdash during a lunch meeting with a colleague. He recommended we try this place out in Downtown Sunnyvale. This place was PACKED at noon, but somehow the host found a seat for us. As we walked over to our table, we passed a beautiful yet PACKED bar area. The bar looks like it means serious business. The bar is lined with top shelf liquors, scotch, and even an impressive wine selection. (I will get to more on the bar later) A combination of the bar, service, and food keeps me coming back for more. Dishdash is now one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Now for some details. . . . The portions here are nice and big. You get a lot of bang for your buck here. The quality of everything from the meats down to the lemonade (VERY GOOD LEMONADE) surpasses just about every restaurant I've been to in the bay area. The best part is, the prices are very reasonable. At dinner time they have Chilean Seabass + HUGE prawns (MY FAVORITE DISH. I think it is called Mashwy) for less than $20 !!! Not too shabby. FYI . . . .The cocktails at this place ROCK!!! They all have fresh fruit and top shelf booze for $8!? that is crazy cheap. San Francisco style cocktails without the San Francisco price. Not only that, Dishdash has a pretty thorough & reasonably priced wine & beer list. On top of all of this, the service here is very good. I almost gave this place a 4 star review because of a service issue I had this past Saturday (order mix up), but the manager here is very attentive (I think his name is Ashton). The manager fixed our problem within a few minutes. Not only did he resolve the issue quickly, he exceeded my expectations and bought my table desserts for the mix up. On a separate occasion, Ashton was also able to cater to my nephew who is practically allergic to EVERYTHING. He made some recommendations, and also made sure that the chefs kept an eye on my Nephew's dish to avoid contamination etc. If you or a family member/friend have allergy problems Ashton is your go to guy at this restaurant. 2 things I would work on though. . . . #1 noise level. . . . this place gets LOUD . . . . #2 the hostess needs to smile. . . . looks like something is wrong when you walk into a restaurant and are greeted with a frown. I am usually somewhat skeptical about local restaurants rated very high on Yelp, as the hype factor can be significant (Orenchi comes to mind), but I like this place so much (having eaten here several times), I feel compelled to write. I don't know what one more review can possibly contribute, but perhaps it can neutralize some of the puzzling 2 or 3 star reviews I've seen. My understanding is the owners are Palestinians from Jerusalem, so you expect the food here to be authentic Middle Eastern (or Mediterranean, whatever that means these days). We always start with the Maza (or Mezze) which is probably among the best we have had anywhere (including a top restaurant in Amman, Jordan). This course is a great introduction and costs only $4-5 per head. All the main dishes we have tried are excellent, be it a lamb or fish or vegetarian dish. The only downside may be that it feels somewhat cramped and the noise level is pretty high. But on our recent visit with a group of 10, we were seated in the relatively quiet back room, although by the time an even larger group occupied the next long table, it got pretty noisy. The restaurant is deceptively large and pretty well decorated. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. They even allowed us to have our homemade cake in lieu of their desserts at no extra charge. You can eat very well here for about $30 - 40 pp inclusive of tax/tip unless your drink bill is high. Murphy Ave is a cute block with old charm, lined with lots of interesting and ethnic restaurants. There is usually ample parking at a huge lot in front of Macy's. This is a very well run operation serving consistently excellent and healthy food. No wonder it's packed every day and night and they are expanding. I would categorize it as a local legend and wholeheartedly recommend it to locals and visitors alike, whether you are a novice or an expert on Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine. I was in Sunnyvale last week on business staying at The Grand Hotel and overheard one of the managers talking about DishDash in a very positive way. I asked, they recommended it and they even made a call to get me a reservation. They did warn me that on a Friday evening things can be quite busy. The restaurant has a great presentation and is very welcoming. We were seated and provided drinks promptly and were given plenty of time to review the menu (probably a bit too much time as it was extremely busy). The menu had a great selection of dinners and combinations although I had a difficult time pronouncing many of the entrees. The aroma from the surrounding tables helped to keep my appetite. The appetizers arrived very quickly and as we tried a combination of them they helped to tide us over while we waited on the main. The main was quite delayed as we had completed our appetizers for more than 20 minutes and were on our second bottle of wine before it's arrival but it was definitely worth the wait. The main had a great presentation and portion sizes that could fill the heartiest of appetites. In fact it was difficult to look at the dessert menu as I wasn't sure there would be enough space. We asked the waiter for their recommendation on the dessert menu and there was no disappointment. The deserts arrived in a timely manner and again had a great presentation. We finished our evening with a cappuccino which definitely was not the best in town but as it's not their specialty I would say that it was sufficient. We asked for our check while we were finishing our coffee and it took more time than I would have imagined but this was likely as we were in near the end of the evening. Overall the DishDash is well worth the experience but if you are on a tight schedule or if you have plans for after dinner I would avoid Friday or Saturday night. read more

Whenever I have to treat myself I visit Dish Dash without a second's thought...I have tried all the Veggie entries..and almost all Chicken and sea food entries...Not once has the food disappointed me...In fact each time it gets better...very good portions as well..Try their salads..absolutely amazing..Love the Pomegranate Vinaigrette.. Whenever I login to yelp I always see this restaurant pop up under "Best of Yelp". I finally decided to click the link and started reading some of the reviews. Can you believe it this place has over 1,000 reviews with an average score of about 4.5. THAT'S CRAZY!!! Anyhow I did plenty of reading and finally wanted to check this place out for myself. I tried to find a few friends to go with but surprisingly no one wanted to be adventures, (I need new friends) lol!!! I finally stuck to a day and time and checked this place out on my own, I decided to go on a Wednesday based on Yelp user reviews, thinking it wouldn't be that busy, but OMG it was packed. Luckily the bar wasn't busy so I had a seat and started my Dish Dash experience. I started off with a mint mojio which was really good and for dinner I had the Tika Kebab, which was a little salty and pretty pricy but overall pretty good. The service was a little lacking and the decor was really nice. I've always thought that ethnic restaurants with clientele of their own race normally meant good quality. But I was surprised not to see any, it was mainly computer engineers. Hehe, that's Sunnyvale for you lol! Absolute gem in Sunnyvale. We have been coming here for years and the consistency in quality food and wonderful friendly service is amazing. Ameet has been our server for years and looks like now he is the manager, he still makes us feel at home and so welcome. This place is hopping busy so best to call ahead for a reservation. We've also catered dinner parties from here and their delivery service is always on time and the food comes piping hot and fresh. The Mediterranean mezza platter is a must try. Gives a great sampler of most all the yummy appetizers they offer. My favorite is the Rehan, it's lil chunks of tender fried eggplant in sort of a pesto sauce with cubed feta cheese and chopped tomatoes. For the main dishes we love the Mashwi which is a grilled fillet of fish with some grilled prawns also the Mo king of kebab is a great sampler. The Bamia with lamb is excellent as are the lamb chops. All dishes are served with wonderful rice and some grilled veggies. You can't go wrong no matter what you order. read more

My friends and I decided to eat here on a voyage to try something different. Who woulda known there was a good restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale. Like what others have said, who goes here? There is nothing in Sunnyvale! Especially downtown Sunnyvale..I mean used to go here when I was a teen for Abyss/Glo, but that was about it. We were seated promptly because we came a little after 5:00pm, when they open for dinner. There was only one other couple before us, but the place got filled up pretty fast. For appetizer, we had hummus...it was mediocre. I wouldn't suggest getting it. I had the Mo, the King of Kebabs. It was good, I'm a meat lover so the entree fulfilled my needs. One of my friends had the salmon, which was basically just salmon on a bed of onions...gross indeed. Another buddy had the Zahra, the shanks are pretty huge, he could barely finish it. The lamb shank was good. Service was very good, A/A-. I would suggest trying this place out...I'd like to eat here again. read more

This place is located within this area of downTown Sunnyvale that seems a bit artistic and hip. There are several other places to eat within proximity and some cool stores nearby. I really like this area because to me, it seems a bit artsy. Also, one of my former piano teachers lives in this area, so perhaps that is the reason why I think this area is artistic? It's kind of like a more mature and refined version of Silver Creek. Anyways, this place is a Mediterranean cafe so you can definitely get your Mediterranean fix right here. We had the Chicken Kabob with dolmas (olive oil mixed white rice wrapped in grape leaves) and tabouleh (chopped parsley with tomatoes, onions, olive oil and lemon juice). We also had the Babaganoush which is really healthy for you and consists of eggplant, garlic, lemon juice, tahini and olive oil. Most people when they try Mediterranean food, usually start out with hummus as their appetizer but babaganoush is a bit healthier. read more

The food here is AMAZING!! DishDash is one of the best mediterranean food options out there in the South Bay Area. I've been to this location a number of times, and each time it impresses. My go-to meals are: Mediterranean Maza: Great option when you can't decide what to get for an appetizer. It's a sample size portion of the hummus, babaghanouge, tabouli, rihan, m'nazaleh, and more. Mo, the King of Kebabs: Another great option when you can't decide on which kebab type you want. Comes with shish kebab, and kufta kebab, grilled vegetables and rice. This is a generous amount of food, and more than enough to fill one person up. Zahra: Lamb cooked with vegetables, and served in a yogurt sauce. Great option, if you're looking for a creamy/savory dish. Tips: This place gets packed and wait-times can go beyond an hour. If you're planning to eat during a popular time, try to get a reservation in advance. read more

DishDash is located in Sunnyvale downtown. There's parking around the area, but it can be difficult to find during peak business hours. My family and I came to DishDash for dinner on a weekday. They were really busy so I highly recommended making reservations unless you have the patience to wait. They started us off with some pita and Za'atar for dipping. The pita was nice and fluffy. For our entrees, we ordered the zahra and combo kabab. Both were delicious! I really enjoyed the zahra because it had a creamy texture with lots of flavors that just melts in your mouth. The meat was also really tender. Because the portions are really big, consider sharing before ordering your own plate. Even sharing two entrees between 3 people, we had some leftovers to bring home. Service can be slower during busy hours, but our waiter was courteous and help gave some great entree recommendations. read more

First time here, and definitely won't be my last. We went here for lunch, and we were able to get a table within 10 mins. They text u when it's ready, so it gave us some time to walk around murphy ave. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free items and preparation. I ordered the combo kebab with chicken and lamb. The chicken was moist and the lamb was very flavorful. I also had a mango lasan drink. Think of a mango smoothie, and it was delicious! My girlfriend had the chicken schwarma salad without the wrap, and we ordered hummus as well. She ordered it with lettuce wraps to make it gluten free, but the waiter was cool and he gave me pita bread as well. Overall, terrific service and excellent food. I wouldn't exactly call this a romantic place. It gets pretty loud and lively, but perfect for a work lunch or a casual dinner. read more

Ok this place rocks! You know I am one of the pickiest eaters I have ever come across. I was going into this with my girlfriend for a Company Christmas Dinner and I am thinking great, I will just poke around at some food to be polite. Was I ever so wrong! I had the benefit of the owners of her company being not only from the middle east, but also knowing the owners of the resturant. So we were taken care of like royalty. We actually got to eat next door at Off the Houka as they closed it down for our dinner party. The food was great as I sampled at least 5 different dishes and loved every bite. I have heard the service is not good but I would not be able to comment on that since we were taken care of to the extreme.. What was so great is I have also never been in a Hokah Lounge. So we are just eating, drinking, and smoking hokah the entire night.. I will go back for sure.. read more

I came here with a few friends a while back, so I think I ate the chicken kabobs....? I just remember that it was sooooooo yummy! The wait is long, but the service and food is good. The dishes take a reasonable amount of time to arrive, but that's no surprise considering that this place is always PACKED when we ate here. The ambience is amazing. They also have an enclosed room, so I can see this being a great place for a private event (bday dinner, engagement dinner, bridal shower, baby shower). Considering how popular this place is, you would probably need to book your event months in advance. Because this is located in downtown Sunnyvale, the closest parking lot is about half a block away.... next to Macys. Parking can get pretty sparse over here, despite it being a large parking lot. If I remember correctly, the dishes are in the $15-20 range. read more

Allah O Akbar! (or something like that) LOL. I guess that means Holy God, damn this place is good! If you've never been, you gotta try it. Appetizers are very tasty, Tabula and Humus, yummy! So far I've tried the Beryani, the Lamb Salad, and the Chicken Shawarma Wraps, SO GOOD! The atmosphere is also great, pretty authentic and they play Arabic music to give it the right feel. Gets pretty packed for lunch, so call and reserve or go early. Parking is a biatch right now, 1) its downtown and 2) allot of construction going on. But still worth it! Ask all the Silicon Valley workers who hang outside waiting to be seated. Middle Eastern food mania!!! Oh btw, I go there atleast once or twice a week, and once I went twice in one day! Absolutely the worst in the bay area, it's bad enough I had decided to sign up to Yelp to whine about it. It was god-awful-overpriced for some watery yogurt sauce food. I hate wasting food so I finished the whole meal, but the food seem to be stuck in my chest and just refuse to go down any further. When I try to throw up or burp , I get that sour yogurt smell right back up in my nose and it makes me even more miserable. I'm sorry, did I mention that yogurt and meat DO NOT go well together? Note: I read some of the reviews and it's true people seem to like their mint tea a lot, which is fine if you're there just to drink.
