I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Am I being dramatic to say this is the best restaurant in Mammoth? Don't think so. We stumbled into Dish Bistro on a whim during a little snow storm. Wasn't expecting anything crazy ... but I SHOULD HAVE BEEN! It sort of felt like I was walking into a dream. This is the cutest little restaurant with only a few tables. It looks like a French Cafe / ski town tavern. We have the lamb burger (incredible) and the lamb curry (also incredible). Can't forget to shoutout the waiter who is the friendliest guy in the world and really seems to love his job! Can't wait to tell our friends about this spot and to come back. Great go-to place in Mammoth when you want a hearty, yummy, juicy burger! The $20 price tag for a burger might feel steep but it is definitely worth it. Come hungry and you'll be squared out. My husband ordered their Bison burger with french fries and loved it!! Their fries area really good! I ordered the burger with onion rings and fried cheese curds in it (yes, fried cheese curds!) and balanced it out with a salad instead of fries and honestly for me, can not rave more about the salad. Fresh, the vinaigrette was so good and the berries a perfect pop in a stifling day. The service was also very friendly and fast and overall the place has such a nice, good vibe to it so we will definitely be back the next time we're in town :) read more

I had originally intended to order the popular Bison Burger, but it seemed that they were having an alternate Sunday Brunch menu. Undeterred, I got seated and perused the menu. Service was attentive and checked in on me frequently. Meanwhile, I was served: * Coffee - 4.5/5 - this surprised me, it's just regular drip coffee, but very nicely made. Decided on the Pork Belly scramble. * Pork Belly Scramble - 5/5 - amazing! Portion is very large. The eggs are more of a fried style which I normally dislike compared to actual scramble, but it came paired with a salsa that matched it perfectly! Pork belly hash is delightfully spicy and savory! Places with a 5* rating on Yelp are rare, and the food there is usually outstanding. That's exactly what happened at Dish Bistro - my new favorite place in Mammoth. First of all, it doesn't feel touristy at all, I would assume the percentage of locals coming here is way higher than any other place on Main St or in the Village. The room is not huge, maybe 20-30 seat total, and very cozy. But most importantly - the food was as good as it gets. I had Lamb and Potato Curry, and it was so perfectly executed that I couldn't think of a better way of doing it. My gf also enjoyed her chicken dish a lot. My family has eaten here twice. It is a cute little place just across the road from the Von's supermarket. The food is enjoyable, with delicious salads that come with almost every meal. I don't know how they have such good, fresh berries in the salad in the middle of December, but I did enjoy them. Last time I went, I had the burger and fries. The bun on the burger was a little too dense for my taste, but overall it was good, and the fries were amazing. I'm fairly certain we'll visit again next time were in Mammoth. read more

After we arrived in Mammoth we decided to tool around the downtown areas of mammoth. My hubs found this place on Yelp of course. It was a charming, intimate spot with cute chairlift seats covered in lambs wool, very clever. The menu was up on the wall on a chalkboard. The first thing I noticed was how small the selection was and I Loved that! I have always found the smaller the menu, the better the food will look and taste. We were starving so we ordered quickly and only a few guests were there. Nice! I ordered the beef cheeseburger and Joe got the lamb burger. They served them with a knife right in the middle, super cool! The salad blew me away. First, it looked just beautiful and so fresh, the blueberries tasted like they just picked them in the garden, Yummy! I didn't even use much dressing because it tasted incredible just the gorgeous way it was served. The gal that was waiting on us was really sweet and helpful with news about the town and the art community. Oh and if you wanted beer or wine they allow you to go next door and bring it back. Joe went over to get a beer but the surcharge was outrageous to bring it over so he passed. The lemonade was epic as it's my favorite drinky. Definitely go to this amazing place. So lucky we found this spot after figuring out it wouldn't work out to eat at The Stove with a large group. Really happy we found this place. We came with a group of 16. We took up pretty much the whole place. The whole inside can probably fit 18 people with a small outdoor table. Owner and staff were really nice. This place was deceptively good. They have a limited menu, but everything is made with love. I know, I know that sounds cheesy, but you have to try it to know what I'm talking about. Both the pesto chicken sandwich and bison burger were amazing. They were made with fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned. Walked in and were asked to wait. There were two servers chit chatting with guests on two different tables. I guess all the other empty tables were reserved. We waited patiently while they continued to chit chat. 7 minutes go by and both servers disappeared into the kitchen. We looked at the menu and enjoyed the delicious aroma from the kitchen. Finally, the male server came out to speak to us, only to let us know they are all booked up until later in the evening. The next open table was close to two hours later. I'm baffled why and how neither of them couldn't tell us that from the beginning. How did this place get excellent reviews? Initially chose the place so we can try their mussels but shortly after we placed our order, chef came out and apologized and said she didn't have the mussels but offered a complimentary pork belly bites. The Caesar salad that came with the gourmet burger (Bison, Brie and Bacon) was the size of Mt. Whitney. It could have be a meal in itself. The dressing was fantastic, scratch made and world class balance. The Burger was large almost overwhelming, but oh so good. If I had known I would have split this with my wife. A great meal. We found our go to dinner place in Mammoth Lakes. The food is cooked fresh by Chef Tina who is one of the best Chefs I've had the privilege to meet, besides my guy. The restaurant has limited seating so Chef Tina and staff are able to offer you the best intimate experience in service, food, and all around ambience. You feel special in this place and everyone is so friendly. One great thing Chef Tina did for us was to hold the restaurant kitchen open on our first night there so we could eat. We didn't know things closed so early and she was and is just the nicest person. She told us she was taught to never turn down a hungry guest and we were for sure hungry. The food was so delicious, we made sure to go back out last night in town so we could end everything well. I will tell you the cook in the food was consistently delicious. Pea pods, blackberries, strawberries, carrots and on and on. My wife and I both had the lamb burgers and they were exceptional. WOW! My FAVORITE spot to eat in Mammoth Lakes. The grilled cheese was by far the BEST grilled cheese I've ever tasted. The various cheeses and the bread were perfect. The sandwich was also served with pickles that were the perfect touch. Went with my boyfriend for lunch and we were so satisfied with our meals. I have been here twice before this review and will be making it more of a habit to come here more often. Previously I have had the bison burger, which is one of the best burgers I have ever had. This time, I had lunch with a friend and we shared the goat salad and the mushroom ravioli. They were so kind to split the dishes and the servings were generous and amazing. We made our first stop here on our ride up from San Diego. Needless to say we were in need of some good and real food. Service was great and our server/chef walked us through the menu in great detail. Veggie Burger - one of the best I've had. Patty held up and had tons of flavor Seared Ahi Salad - unique touches with wasabi peas which added a great crunch, a ton of avocado and veggies, and the Ahi was solid.
