Capybara empanadas is a must go in Mammoth Lakes. It's easily accessible by the trolley around town and located by the recreation center and a very nice park (with corn hole)! The empanadas were delicious and the menu was full of great food and drink choices. Cappyuccinos?! I'd highly recommend. The owner and ladies working were SO sweet and fantastic. The empanadas and drinks were ready quickly and the iced nuttelatte was a great way to beat the heat of summer. I stumbled across this food truck located outside of the Community Recreation Center while my kiddos were playing at the park. I tried the ham and cheese which was ok and enjoyed the honey latte. Customer service wasn't great as the woman inside the truck was not friendly. She started closing up an hour earlier than listed on the Yelp page and was visibly irritated when three other customers tried to order as she was closing up the truck. read more

Capybara is very much worthy of its high rating. It's small operation with a limited but sufficient, menu. The star imo is undoubtedly the truffle and cheese. The beef is a worthy second imo and the chimichurri is pretty unique in my experience. You get this wrapped up in an amazing crust. I also got an iced latte which was solid. I got my food to go for a group. I waited about 15 minutes. I'm not complaining, just illustrating that it's made fresh. If you wanted to eat here, it's a pleasant environment with tables and benches and a park, right next to the local recreation center. That also means parking is aplenty. A good option for the area, however if you've had amazing empanadas it won't knock your socks off. We tried every empanada except beef and chicken (the latter was not available and that made us have to stop at a fast food place afterwards as it's the only one my daughter had wanted). The food we got was pretty good but not especially flavorful. The time estimate we received was off by about 10 minutes but that's ok as my car was charging at the nearby supercharger. read more

Got chance to try this shop at Mammoth Lake. Simple menu with some different meat option and sweet empanadas. I got: Mushroom cheese one: fulfill fluffy empanada with mushroom and "light" cheese. I was expected more cheese. But truffle mushroom by itself is good with affordable price. 4.8/5 The herbal tea is perfect. A little bit of herb, mint, light sweet from honey. Very fresh for a sunny day. 5/5 Service' fast and helpful. Food waiting around 10 mins. As it's a food truck. You can wait at tables in the park. There is a small river closes by. Good for a short walk while waiting for food ready. I noticed even some ppl go fishing around the river. Good experience. Worth a try. If i have chance come back around this area. I'm so glad I found this place. I had the corn and chicken empanadas and they were both absolutely delicious--crispy, flavorful, and really satisfying. I also ordered a honey latte, which ended up being one of the best lattes I've had in a while. Just the right amount of sweetness and so smooth. What made the whole experience even better was the location. It's right next to a park, so I got to enjoy my coffee while watching my little one play. The prices were super reasonable too. I got to experience Capybara's empanadas last night with my kids. We had a rough day bc my son got injured in the mountains. Coming here was like a blissful oasis.. These are authentic Argentinian empanadas!! How do I know? Because I'm Argentinian. And for a while, I was craving good empanadas... I live in LA and not so much luck. Even in Latin or Argentinian markets. These Capybara empanadas made by chef Luna, who of course is Argentinian too, are top notch. We were hanging out at the park and saw this food truck and was curious so we gave them a try the service was outstanding friendly fast. Also the price was good. to our surprise they were the best empanada iv h ave ever had stuffed with filling I definitely recommend it.
