I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, and the chef absolutely delivered. It may honestly be the best tri-tip I've had in Northern California. The portion was generous, the price was very reasonable, and everything tasted fresh and perfectly made. After a long day of driving and hiking, my wife and I decided some BBQ would be wonderful...But we were sorely mistaken. The food was bland. My burger had no flavor and my wife's rib plate was drenched with BBQ sauce. The only saving grace was the waiter.He was kind and attentive. We ended up in this restaurant as one of the few dog friendly places in Lee Vining. They have indoor and outdoor seating. During our visit, which was a US major holiday weekend, they were understaffed, and the service was slow, but they got the job done. The food was good. We both ordered hamburgers. My sweet tooth was kicking after being in the wilderness for a couple days. We stopped by about 20-30 minutes before closing for some dessert. The apple pie a la mode: DELICIOUS The service: this is the reason for 5 stars. We should have read the reviews prior to stopping here. Cheeseburger was about an eighth inch thick and flavorless, coleslaw also lacked flavor and the steak fries were undercooked and barely warm. The other dinner was a New York steak. This too lacked flavor. The salad was ok , but not terrific. The potatoes was good, but then it's difficult to mess up a baked potato. Wait staff was OK but nothing special. This is not, in my opinion, a true barbecue restaurant. The ambience is semi rustic, semi barbecue with some nice historic pictures on the walls. The food at this place is just okay but the service is awesome! Stopped by with girlfriend and family for an early dinner and we sat outside. This place boasts having great bbq but there isn't really anything to write home about. I personally had the tri-tip sandwich and it was okay. It was a large portion with a lot of meat and generous serving of tater tots. But it lacked flavor and sauce. My girlfriend had a no bun burger which she said was still pretty good but her favorite thing was the fries. Save your money ! Gave one star so my review would show above all the zero stars. ( I did not check yelp before I was seated) BM's was suggested by a front desk employee as a request for a Hamburger place. My Hamburger was bellow average. I am guessing it was a previously frozen 1/8 th inch thick low quality burger. it was disguised quite well under a lovely large lettuce leaf, lovely tomato, onion slice and a ton of institution steak fries. I should have just had the condiments on a bun. My Husband ordered a pulled pork sandwich which he did not eat more than a bite of. It was mush, again our guess is an institution bag of premade frozen food just tossed in maybe boiling water. We stood at the stairs waiting to be seated next to another person on their cell phone, fine until we learned he was the person to be seating us. His body language implied we were interrupting him. Should have taken the hint then. The feeling we left with is this is a restaurant that has the idea no one is going to be a repeat customer, just passing so give them no reason to come back. We've been coming here for years, either when passing through on motorcycles, or making a special trip from Mammoth when we stay there. My favorite is the BBQ tri-tip sandwich, always flavorful, with plenty of sauce and the bun and onions done perfect. The weather on the patio in the summer afternoons is nice, with shaded tables, and we love to bring our dog along. Service has always been great. We did not experience the tacked-on tip that others referenced. Wait staff earned every bit of the 20% I voluntarily left as a tip. read more

After spending the morning exploring the eastern portion of Yosemite National Park with some friends, we all decided that we needed some BBQ in our lives. Bodie Mike's had some decent reviews here on Yelp so we gave it a go. We were promptly seated outside on the patio and given menus. Our waitress then came over to introduce herself and to go over some of their specialties. She was nice and informative about the menu. I honestly can't remember what anyone else ordered but I went with the pulled pork and I found it to just be ok. I didn't blow my mind but it also wasn't bad. Terrible service. Went in hoping to try the ribs after a long day fishing. We were seated and promptly asked what we wanted to drink which was fine, but that's where the service ended. We waited for someone to come and take our order and nothing. We watched other patrons enter, get seated, and then had their orders taken and still nothing! We finally asked the waitress if she was going to take our order and she plain out said it wasn't her area yet she was the only waitress in the entire patio where we sat. Along this portion of Hwy 395 you would start eating your own flesh or chewing on your girlfriend or kid, until an oasis of a small town with a few choices to eat. Yeaaahhh, just so NO to cannibalism. Patio dining, and then inside, tables and a bar in a separate room makes this a one-stop shop. The service was the high point. Down home, friendly, and good personality gal. Perhaps, not getting the BBQ was my mistake, but I wasn't that hungry. Chili ($5.95) tasted like Dennison's with some fresh ground beef (2.0 stars) and the Fried Zucchini ($6.95) was absolutely not fresh but made from frozen (2.0 stars) and blew my diet out of the water. Not the fanciest of places and a bit pricy, but given there aren't many options in Lee Vining, we were satisfied with our food here. We had a large party of 11 and everything came out relatively quickly. Portions were large. There was a mix up and one of the sides should of been tots and we got fries instead. Lee Vining is a touristy sleepy town with quaint shops. I love it! Right smack in the middle of it all is this very cute BBQ place. Their BBQ is truly awesome . Request to sit outside during summer. U will have a view of Mono Lake right across the street. We had baby back ribs and the sauce is just the way I like it. Slightly spicy and not too sweet.The side dish of beans was a disappointment. It tasted like cardboard :( They also have a bar inside and of course a sitting inside to enjoy your food. I will definitely return next month on the way for more backpacking trip! I told myself I wouldn't eat at a restaurant during quarantine but I did. Wasn't my choice, would've gone to Mono Cone but the local ATM was out of order and the line was sprawling. On to Bodie Mikes we go... I expected overpriced BBQ, but was immediately told that BBQ will not be served. Outdoor dining was available, which I thought would provide us nice protection from the wind - as the dining area is surrounded by high windows. However, these windows proved to be a formidable stockade to keep the wind IN! The wind trapped began to whirl and next thing you know there were leaves, bird feathers, and dust bunnies in the air. The flagrant items landed frequently on us or our table. A wooden piece of the roof actually came down and hit my sister in the head. Burger bun appeared to be homemade and I think our burger was served with two top buns. The hot wings are literally served with BBQ sauce. Sorry, those were the "mild" hot wings. The "hot" hot wings were served with BBQ sauce sprinkled with tabasco. Found a hair at the bottom of my wing plate. The fries were Ore-Ida crinkle cut. The corn was likely boiled the day before in what tasted like potato water. The pizza was DiGiorno quality at the price of $11 for a small. The side salad was pretty good, which featured saltine crackers which were likely meant to be placed on a soup saucer. The menu had the following disclaimer at the bottom: "we are not responsible for lost or stolen items" - I assume this referred to the highway robbery they committed by serving such dreary food at a metropolitan price. read more
