I had this BBQ place on my radar for my trip to Yosemite. We headed over to arrive by 11:30 am. There was already a line forming upon arrival. The ambiance was solid with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was excellent. There were a lot of workers. The line moved really fast. Very organized. The meat carver (pitmaster?) was very personable as were the ladies helping with the line. I opted for the 3 meat platter. Fatty Brisket, Chicken, Ribs, and had them through in a Jalapeño cheddar sausage. The ribs aren't part of the 3 meat platter but the carver was able to add 3 ribs to my plate for a slight upcharge. For my sides I ordered Mac & Cheese and the BBQ beans. Momma ordered a Tri Tip sandwich and had twice baked potato casserole for her side. To wash it down, I ordered a Local Hazy IPA which I thought paired with the BBQ very well. She ordered a Diet Coke. The Ribs were fantastic. Not fall of the bone but with a slight chew. As it should be!!! The Brisket was decent. Not my favorite but it was still tasty. I wished it was a little juicier and more smokey. The Chicken breast was meh. It was dry and had very little flavor. It needed more rub for sure and I'd say way more smoke as well. It was my least favorite item. I think it was overcooked. The Jalapeno Sausage was FANTASTIC. Perfect snap. Delicious and smokey. So glad I added a sausage to our order. We LOVED it!!! Ribs - 5* Brisket - 4* Chicken Breast - 3* Jalapeno & Cheddar Sausage - 5* Tri Tip - 4* Sides: BBQ Beans - 5*!!! I loved them. It had a great Texas style smokey flavor with brisket in it. Mac & Cheese wasn't that good 3* Twice baked potatoes were 5* Overall score: 4 1/2* Solid lunch spot and nice and steady customers coming in. Pretty popular spot for sure. We liked it and would definitely go again when we come back to Yosemite.
If you love BBQ like I do, you must check out Smokehouse 41 if you are in the Oakhurst area! This is another favorite spot which I have visited many times whenever I'm in the area. Plenty of parking although this place gets busy during peak times. This spot is not big inside although there are 2 separate dining areas with several dining tables. There is also outside patio seating with a bar/counter table. Went in for lunch a lil after 11am and there was already a line. Ordered the following for to-go: ***3 Meat Plate 5/5 - $28 Tri-tip, sausage, chicken with bbq beans and baked potato casserole - sooo good and tender! ***Half-rack pork rib plate 5/5 - $25 With bbq beans - super delish! For dessert, got a banana pudding. It was good!! 5/5 Staff are always courteous and friendly. Great customer service! Will definitely visit again.
We stopped by Smokehouse 41 after hearing great things, and it didn't disappoint. The brisket and tri-tip were tender, tasty, and just the right amount to leave us satisfied. We arrived around 6:00 pm, though by then the smoked ribs were already sold out. The staff were genuinely friendly and made the experience easy. There are two lines--one outside to look over the menu and another inside to pick your meats, sides, and drinks. The only challenge was seating. With a party of four, we had to wait a little while for a table to free up, but the food made it worth it.
We were starving after hiking upper Yosemite falls and this BBQ place looked good. There was a line but it didn't take too long and they serve your food quickly right in front of you at a counter. The workers were all really friendly too. We got the three meat plate with brisket, tri-tip, chicken, mac & cheese, plus salad and the half rack pork rib plate with coleslaw and baked beans. We also got the banana pudding. The meat was really cook and tender. I like that they cut it right in front of you. All the plates come with a bun, butter, and pickles. The mac & cheese was okay and a bit dry. My boyfriend loved the baked beans and said they were the best he has ever had.
Walked into this restaurant and I heard it was good but didn't think it would be based on the lack of people in line - to be clear, I got lucky, as after we sat down, the line was full and never stopped! So I walked in and was immediately greeted by the staff. I ordered the two meat plate: tri tip and brisket, with coleslaw and baked beans with brisket bits. The plate also had some great pickles. I also got their blonde beer. Also got some of their fries, extra crispy. The brisket and tri tip were phenomenal, the baked beans were great, the coleslaw was really good, helped cool the burn from the addictingly delicious spicy BBQ sauce. The fries were perfect. Totally worth it the upcharge. Definitely give this place a try, deal with the line if there is one, you will not be disappointed!
Traveling here from MD and had to find a spot to eat. Given the great reviews I decided this place had to be worth a stop. I'm SO happy I came with my partner. The food is amazing. The staff and atmosphere are upbeat and welcoming. I cannot recommend it enough. Meat lovers, give it a try. Shoutout to the employees for the recommendations and the welcoming conversations, you make the place a little more special.
Had lunch here the other day while staying in Yosemite. It was by far the best meal my family had while in the area. I had the pulled chicken sandwich. The bun was soft and there was a lot of chicken. I also had the jalapeño Mac and cheese which was decent. I prefer a creamier mac and cheese. My kids and I shared their banana pudding. We thought it was just okay. The employees were friendly and the food was good.
Oh my gosh! Awesome food! I cannot believe it's taken us so long to try this place after all the time we are in Oakhurst! What a cool bbq joint! Just line up, place your order with the guy cutting all the meats fresh and hot! They work in a line, so organized and are ALL so friendly! We ordered the pulled pork and pork ribs both were amazing! And omg heavenly mac n cheese! Just a slight kick with the finely minced jalapeños mixed in! Fabulous! Their prices are very reasonable too! Thank you!! We will be back! With that said...I highly recommend coming here!
Some of the best moist and flavorful brisket I've had in a restaurant besides mine. The coleslaw side was Stupendous. The staff are great too. I would Highly recommend this place.
A little BBQ place on Hwy 41 on the way to Yosemite that KNOWS their meat!! This enormous beef rib was both seasoned and cooked perfectly! Tender, juicy, practically melts in the mouth! Food is served quickly right in front of you and the staff are super upbeat and friendly. There may be a long line to order, but it WILL be worth it! DON'T miss this place!
Solid BBQ spot in the Bass Lake area. They have some really great sauces! The chicken sandwich was super flavorful and juicy. The sides were pretty good good, especially the beans! My brisket was tender but not very juice, and the pulled pork was kinda dry. They are super dog friendly! They have a small patio with limited seating. Would come back to try other meats!
I think this is the best bbq I've ever had in CA! We stopped in for a quick lunch before our drive home and so glad we made time to go! We lived in Missouri for a bit and have def missed the bbq! And this is the closest I think we've found for bbq that could even come close to midwest bbq! The staff were great with service and recommendations. And bringing us anything we needed after! We ordered waaaay too much food but absolutely no regrets. Everything we tried was amazing. You cannot go wrong here. I have a weak spot for fatty brisket though so that'll always be my go to! For sure will be coming here everytime we do a trip out to yosemite! I only wish it were closer!!
We went there at 5 PM and there was already a line to get in. It is cafeteria style, where you order, they make it for you right then and then you take it to the table. They play kind of old rock 'n' roll music in there, which my wife wasn't too happy about. But I liked it. Everything is served directly on the tray with plastic utensils and paper cups. We were excited to get the brisket because we had heard how moist it was, but it was not that moist. Another issue I had was that everything just came warm, not hot. The tri-tip on the other hand was very delightful. My wife got the 41 Baker, which is a huge sweet potato covered in cheese and butter and meat, and it was very good. The sides were also awesome. I had the jalapeño macaroni and cheese with bacon and the potato casserole. I would recommend them all.. All in all it was a good place to go.
The food was BOMB! Everything was packed with flavor, but the ribs and macaroni were definitely the standouts for me. The ribs were tender, smoky, and seasoned perfectly, and that macaroni was seriously some of the best I've had. The restaurant was packed when we went, but the staff handled everything really well and got our food out fast. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It's also a cute little spot with affordable prices, especially for the amount of food you get. Definitely a place I'd come back to and recommend if you're craving some good BBQ! read more

Solid BBQ spot in California. It's not quite Texas level, but still really good and worth a visit. We got the Mammoth Platter and it was packed with a little bit of everything: tri-tip, pulled pork, chicken, brisket, sausage, and ribs. You'll get all the meat options for Mammoth Platter and it's plenty of food for a group. Everything was well seasoned, ribs and brisket were my favorite. Staff was really friendly too. Just a heads up on the flow here: you'll order at the counter first, then grab your food at the cashier and find a table. If you've got a bigger group, send someone to grab seats before you get in line. This place fills up fast during dinner. read more

This really hit the spot after a long couple days of hiking in Yosemite! Meats were tender, slaw was delicious and not mayo based which I always love. Beans had meat in them as well. Tables have bottles of 2 types of bbq sauce as well. Everyone there was super friendly and service was quick! read more

The two-meat platter, featuring sausage and chicken, accompanied by baked beans, and the premium side of potato casserole. I'm so happy I did, since they were sold out of the house special baked potato. The meat is so tender, and the sausage has cheese and jalapenos. Was not a fan of the bread, but still good Staff hands you a menu, and you order at the counter after changing your mind a few times. Pay and then find a table. Staff are friendly, and tables are clean We're so bummed that we only had one chance to eat here. read more

Dined here twice in one weekend because it was so good! Short queue to order and plenty of seating despite it being a busy weekend (Memorial Day weekend). Ordered the Full Pork Rib Rack plate and Dirty Frites plate the first night. 2nd night we ordered the Full Pork Rib Rack plate again and the Pulled Pork sandwich. Each came with sides. read more

WOW WOW WOW!!! I love me a good bbq house and Smokehouse 41 lived up to all the Yelp hype and almost 5-star reviews! Visiting from SoCal for our family Spring Break road trip to Yosemite, we are staying in the quaint town of Oakhurst. This bbq joint was one place that really stood out when Yelping for eating options in the area. Smokehouse 41 is fast-casual, counter service for ordering and assembly, popular California-style BBQ restaurant. Known for its oak wood smoked meats like brisket, tri-tip, and ribs, served with house-made sides, it will soon be you fav too..as it's now one of mine. Eating dinner at 7 pm, since we had a late filling lunch ~ not wanting to overdo it, my daughter & I shared a 2 meat plate. A lot of the cut meats were sold out by this time, but it was fine cuz we wanted the brisket & tri-tip beef anyways (which were both still available). The meat plate comes w/ 2 regular sides, a dinner roll & pickles (which oops..now I realize we didn't get lol, but it's fine). You can opt for a premium side instead for an upcharge. We ended choosing the jalapeño mac & cheese topped with bacon and it was DEELISH & a mixed green salad with an vinegarette dressing to balance all the protein, which was refreshing & good. The tri-tip was chef's kiss. Cooked to perfection ~ medium-rare, how I like it. It literally melted in your mouth. The brisket was flavorful as well and super juicy. The perfect balance of meat to fat ratio. I dipped the meats with a bbq concoction I mixed together, consisting of both (equal parts) the sweet & tangy and spicy bbq sauces and it was BOMB!!! My hubs got the same plate, just with a coleslaw side, instead of the mac & cheese. My son veered away from the fam consensus and got a chopped beef brisket sandwich with add-on grilled onions and a side of the mac & cheese. He liked it. All in all, such a good vibe. Due to the good, quality food, it can be busy, even selling out (thus eat early if you want more options) especially during peak hours, with indoor & outdoor seating. Don't let the line outside initially, intimidate you. The line moves super efficiently, as you get called inside a few parties at a time (to prevent overcrowding & chaos). The meat craver literally cuts and weighs your meats in front of you and your order moves with you along the service line for sides & drinks and check out. All the staff is friendly and beyond efficient, to keep the line and table cleanup moving swiftly. It's the indecisive patrons *eyeroll* that delay the wait to your meaty goodness. 100% RxFoodie recommend and WILL BE BACK!!! **drools** read more
I wasn't expecting a smokehouse to be a fast casual concept, but it works! I like the carving station where you pick out the meats. I went for a brisket, tri-tip and the cheddar jalapeño sausage, which came highly recommended. They were not lying, that sausage was fire! Also a little spicy. I thought the brisket was great too, the tri-tip was good, but not as stand out as the others. The sides were sitting there cafeteria style. They put a healthy portion of bacon on top of the jalapeño cheddar mac & cheese. I'm a huge mac & cheese fan, but I thought it was just OK. The beans and the coleslaw were really great though! At the recommendation of the girl at the counter, my fiancé and I split that three meat combo with three sides, and that was more than enough food for both of us. The house made pickles, and Roll were tasty too! Would definitely return. read more
This place is so good! My group of 6 came during opening at 11:30am on Sunday. We got the half rack ribs and shredded chicken sandwich. For the sides we got fries and potato casserole, everything tasted amazing. Service is really fast since you get your meal right away at the counter. Highly recommend for anyone driving by. read more

This is THE REWARD you deserve after a long tiring day of exploring Yosemite ( Or work lol ) We are not local but we make sure to fit a Smoke House 41 dinner in our plans every-time we come around. The Food is always fresh, meats are juicy and even with a long line your wait time will not be long. ( MUST GET THE SMOKED SAUSAGE ) The staff is friendly and helpful. They know that many tourists pass by to visit Yosemite and it shows that they're trained to have the patience for us. Always a 10/10 read more

Gosh I really wanted to give this a 4 or 5 star review, I just can't based on our experience from Saturday June 6th 2026, at about 7:15 ish , the service here is excellent the location is great the look inside is promising, the restaurant is awesome you can see the huge smoker outside, I almost went back on Sunday June 7th when they opened just to see if there was a difference in the taste and quality of the Brisket. We Came up to Bass Lake for a wedding and was told about Smokehouse 41 from the groom. We ordered a lot of food the 1/2 rack of ribs were awesome, the jalapeño cheddar sausage was excellent unfortunately I'm hoping because of the time we ordered our food, the Brisket, though it looked very promising it was even taken out of the wrap and was not sliced yet looked a little smaller than the one the worker was already cutting, it was unfortunately dry, we ordered 1lb of the point, out of the 1lb basically only 3 slices weren't very dry, and we ordered the Brontosaurus Beef Rib , I saw it on the counter where the young man who was cutting the meat was while we were in line, when I ordered it I asked if he had another one he just put it on the scale and told me the weight, I just drove a few hours and didn't want to hold up the line or argue , because I believe they were soon to close for the night, that was my mistake! looking at the bark on the Beef Rib , I knew the Bark looked a little dehydrated and the result was it made the muscle fibers turn more like shredded & stringy instead of tender, when you order a Beef Rib like that you know you're about to have one of the best bites in BBQ, unfortunately it didn't happen, I knew better & the beans they maybe needed a fresh rotation brought out, but again they were going to close soon so perhaps that wasn't an option. I will say the Tri-Tip looked very good it actually looked better than most other BBQ restaurants I've been to, unfortunately I cooked so many Tri-Tips the previous weekend , i was tri- Tipped out! but When I am ever in the area agin I do hope to try it. The workers all seemed exceptionally nice, I was asking questions that unfortunately they couldn't give me an answer to, I should've asked for a manager or someone else with the knowledge of the questions I was asking the workers just said oh, I'm sorry. We spent $138 or $148 for the food plus thew a generous tip in the tip jar. So perhaps my expectations were hoping for a better result, I do know that proteins can be tricky on occasion there are many variables while proteins are being smoked for many hours. I just wish that end of the house, had quality control of the product they are selling, someone should have noticed that Beef Rib long before it was on the counter, And when they are slicing brisket especially the point perhaps eat the cost of a few briskets that might be sold to the public when the person slicing the brisket can tell it's dry & not juicy, add it too the beans so it's not a total loss. After we exited the restaurant, we saw the young man who was slicing the meat taking perhaps his last break of his shift, We chatted a little bit and as I was telling him about the brisket, he nodded, " was it dry" I told him unfortunately it was but it most certainly wasn't his fault, I'm sure he wasn't the pit master, I tipped him a 10 for disturbing his break! If I ever come back to the area like I mentioned earlier in this post I will come back much earlier in the day hoping for a much more pleasing experience. There are too many other excellent reviews for Smokehouse 41 that give this restaurant high praise and it's probably well deserved, unfortunately my wife & I came at the wrong time, that's the only reason for the 3 stars that I gave read more
The way I was so happy that we stopped here. The food was so good and I was full like half way thru, but I didn't want to stop eating . As for the service, the employees were nice and communicated well, and the restaurant was clean though it did seem quite small for how popular they seem to be. read more
I was told they have loaded potatoes when I asked what came on them. It was only the chipotle sauce, cheese, and green onions. It does have that in the description however, if it had butter, sour cream and extra toppings, it would be so good. Maybe that's what I'm just used to adding the barbecue sauce didn't make it taste better but yeah, I won't get that again. Service was fast. The place was really clean. Meat man service was spectacular. Very nice gentleman slicing up the meat and weighing it right in front of you. 10/10 Tritip: meaty yet still very tender. Great steak flavor with nice balanced seasonings and smoke flavor. Serving size on the half lb was great. 9/10 ribs: meaty and had a nice bite to it. It's the bbq ribs that ISNT fall off the bone but it is intentional. Nice seasonings, smoke, and meat flavor. Half rack serving was perfect. 7/10 brisket: very tender and juicy but personally felt it was lacking in the flavor department. Still amazing and better than most brisket. Half lb serving felt a bit small but could be it was chopped into larger pieces. 3/10 Mac n cheese: would not order again. Not creamy, cheesy, or flavorful enough. 10/10 potato casserole: great rich creamy side to accompany the meat with good flavor 3/10 beans: meh. Not bad but nothing special. Prob would not order again. While eating inside looks totally fine, we went to bass lake nearby and ate our food to go there. There's public beaches along the north,east side of the lake. Along the southwest side is all private beautiful lake houses so you won't be able to eat there. read more

Amazing food, great service ... butttt beat the lunch and dinner crowd. It gets busy. We got there for early dinner and by 4:30pm they had a line out the door. There is some seating outside and tables inside. Order at the counter and they will bring you the order to your table. Great options to choose from: pork ribs, smoked sausage, brisket & more plus delicious sides like coleslaw, baked beans, fries and more. Hope to be back again! read more

AMAZING BBQ!! Located in oakhurst. If you come in the afternoon, except a line as their food is delicious. We got a half rack of ribs: great. Comes with two regular sides, pickles, and a roll. We also got a two meat platter with brisket and tri tip, and a half pound of brisket. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BRISKET!! It's delicious. Their BBQ is very high quality. For the sides, we loved the baked beans, as the sauce and bits of meat in it are so good. The jalapeño Mac and cheese is also great. Their tables are set up nicely with a paper towel roll and BBQ sauce. Staff are very friendly and check on you while eating. You order and they cut the meat right there, then you pay. Line moves quick but get in early because they close once they sell out! Plenty of seating with high turnover. You can also do take out. read more

Is the food here cooked by the same people who cooked at Todd's (the Oakhurst one, not the awful version they opened in Clovis)? I'd love to find a local place as good as Todd's was.

Hi! Unfortunately I have a stupid fish allergy, and some Texas style BBQ sauces have anchovies in them, which I can't eat. Does your sauce have anchovies? (usually in the worcestershire sauce)
No and we do not use Worcestershire sauce
Are there beef ribs? I see them pictured but not on the menu...
Yes in fact one of their popular items is the brontosaurus rib ( giant beef rib) that can feed up to two people. It is on their menu along with a note that it is "Served weekends only".
