This food truck is in a commercial area so we used our GPS to find it. We arrived around 3:30 PM on Friday and there was nobody there. We didn't get to meet the owner as he had someone covering for him when we arrived. The menu is quite simple. Unfortunately, they were out of the cornbread and potato salad. We ordered the coleslaw and the beans. The elk sausage is quite tasty, but had quite a kick to it. The brisket was good, but we thought it was a little on the dry side, but the sauce was nice. The coleslaw is good and the beans are delicious but they have quite a kick to them also. I let my husband eat them. We enjoyed our meal with a big salad from Vons. read more

Emberz BBQ - Menu 6/26 - Food Trucks Near Me - Mammoth Lakes, California

The food is absolutely phenomenal and the owner was super nice! We all felt like we were entering his home (though this is a food truck with picnic benches yay!) he was very welcoming and friendly. Everything was delicious. I was truly surprised. The salad was super colorful and the dressing complimented the smoked meats well. The beans were superb (and I don't even really like beans lol). And the star meat dishes were fantastic as expected. You can see the labor of love! We'll be back! read more

Emberz is a food shack located in the commercial part of town. The menu is simple - brisket and elk sausage, plus sides of corn bread, baked beans and mac n cheese. For the 2 of us, we ordered the 2 item plate, and sides of corn bread and baked beans. The portion was plenty to satisfy the both of us. The brisket was tender and the sausages were tasty. The corn bread was moist and topped with a butter/honey spread. The baked beans were tangy and not overly sweet. There are a few picnic benches but there is no ambiance to speak of. This is a take out place. Overall it's good food and good value. If you're looking for BBQ, this is a great option. read more

Came by after doing 10 miles of hiking. I was excited to see such a well reviewed restaurant serving bbq in mammoth! The yelp hours are a little misleading since it shows 24/7 but they close by 7pm. This is a small shack next to an industrial complex. Based on other yelp reviews I ordered the following: - 3/5 - brisket plate with 2 sides, brisket was pretty dry and not moist at all Elk sausage - lots of reviews mentioned this but it seemed pretty similar to any other pork or beef sausage Probably wouldn't come back for this again. A couple of my friends also had their order forgotten until they checked in again 15 minutes later. read more

If you read my reviews at yelp. I only have 1 star or 5 stars review. Only the worst or the best. Which actually help a business to go up or down. Embers BBQ definitely deserve a 5 star review. 1. Food = briskets are smoked perfectly, seasoned great and really tender. It is juicy and tasty just like the chickens. I believe he uses boneless chicken thigh, which i think is better. Dark meat have more flavor. Lastly the elk sausage, deep it on the bbq sauce and it will escalate the taste. Sides = mac and cheese, i loved it cause it is creamy. Chili bean, is on the sweet side and really good. 2. Ambiance = nothing really special since it is a mom and pop food truck. But i tell that the food truck looks clean inside and out. 3. Service = friendly and helpful. Got some samples even if it is a 1 man show, he was able to provide good service. If people knows how hard to run a restaurant they will appreciate the person running the show behind that truck. Keep up the good job.. read more

After a wonderful time at Devils Creek distillery, we stopped here for a plate of goodness. Unfortunately we arrived after the elk sausage was gone. Next time we'll have to reverse the order of business! The brisket was delicious. Though I love my BBQ dry, the sauce was tasty too. We enjoyed the sides (cabbage slaw, corn bread, mac & cheese). Next time, I'll try the beans. read more

I'm so glad I was able to find this place on yelp just a few hours before they closed on Saturday! embers is a food truck parked next to a distillery and has a relatively small menu. despite looking pretty unassuming, there's a lot of flavor and personality coming from embers! the truck is run by a super friendly guy named Drake who helped us with our pretty big order! he was extremely kind and patient with us and kept a smile on everyone's faces while we were ordering and waiting. the food itself is amazing! the meat was tender and flavorful and the sides went perfectly with the mains. the truck itself is only open on Fridays and Saturday's so I'm so glad that we were able to try it during our trip and I definitely recommend for a satisfying meal in mammoth if you're ever able to catch it! read more

Honestly I don't eat a lot of meat, but I tried the chicken and it is out of this world. I love the shredded cabbage, it's gourmet. And the potato salad is great too. And one of my favorite things are the pickled red onions... Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!!!! This is one of those places that you wish you found out about earlier. Thanks Drake, you're a culinary genius! Emberz BBQ - Embers bbq truck, Mammoth Lakes Ca - Food Trucks Near Me - Mammoth Lakes, California

We visited Embers BBQ at the brewery and ordered the plate with spare ribs and cosmic chicken, along with sides of cornbread and chili. The food came out quickly, and there was plenty of outdoor seating available. The cosmic chicken was incredibly moist, and I appreciated that they offered a choice between breast or thigh. The cornbread was also a standout--super moist and full of flavor. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chili, but overall, I really enjoyed the meal. Great spot to grab lunch! read more

Who would've thought. Top notch bbq out of a food truck in Mammoth. Drake runs the whole place by himself. Super nice. The chicken great. Tender and smokey. The brisket is definitely the star of the show. Melts in your mouth. The bbq sauce is less sweet, the way I like it. The potato salad was excellent. My wife loved the cabbage medley. Simple but super fresh. Lemon vinaigrette salad. Perfect balance to the meats. read more

The food is amazing!!! I will always recommended this place for whoever is coming or will come to Mammoth. Drake is super friendly and he is the best chef. You will have to be patient since he is the only one working, but his work with care and detail will make your heart full when you eat the meal. Worth the wait for sure, me and my friends came 2times for only 2days we in town. Highly recommend to get the grilled chicken and bean on the side. I tried all his food and all the side but those two are my favorite. The rest is all very delicious too. As a person never eat bean, his bean is one of the best thing I've tried omg, you need to try it!!! read more

10/10 -- A Hidden BBQ Gem in Mammoth Lakes! Don't let the tiny shack in the industrial part of town fool you -- Ember's BBQ is a must-visit for real barbecue lovers. My husband and I know our BBQ (we smoke meats on our Traeger at home), so we rolled up skeptical... and left completely wowed. The owner greeted us immediately with a smile and genuine gratitude that we'd sought them out -- a great start. We ordered the brisket plate and the Cosmic Chicken, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The brisket had a perfect smoke ring, was incredibly juicy, and melted in our mouths. It came with spicy chili beans, sweet cornbread, and that unmistakable homemade touch -- all for just $19. Honestly, one of the best briskets we've ever had. Then came the Cosmic Chicken, which is brined in a special beer bath before being smoked to perfection. The skin was flavorful and crisp, and the inside was unbelievably juicy. It totally lived up to its name -- Cosmic. Half chicken with two sides $15 And we can't forget the lemonade -- truly fantastic. He infuses his simple syrup with lemon extract, and you can actually see the grated lemon peel floating in the drink. It was refreshing, balanced, and clearly crafted with care. Total for the entire meal with drinks $42. Incredible value, unforgettable flavors, and heartfelt hospitality. 10 out of 10 -- we'll be back. Go say hi to Drake owner/operator/BBQ master and support this local business. read more

Came here after snowboarding in mammoth and we were caught by surprise. It's a bit of a late review but I'm catching up with everything haha. One of the owners served us and we had a bit of small talk. It was really nice having a personal experience. Location is a bit weird but that makes 100x better. It's surrounded by other buildings but it's not a plaza with other restaurants. It's a gem find honestly. There were some tables set up but it was extremely windy so we ended up eating in the car. Right when we were about to leave, the owner walked out and waved like he was seeing us off. You can tell they really care about their customers and their experience. We got a 3 protein plate with 2 sides. The owner recommended it to us as most economical. It was great value for what we got! Everything tasted great. We wanted to go back for another plate but had dinner commitments with friends in Tahoe. We were already a bit behind making this pitstop but it was worth it. We were supposed to come back the following weekend coming back from Tahoe but some plans changed and we weren't able to. This is definitely a stop we're going to be making the next time we come up mammoth. I'd recommend this to everyone going up to mammoth. It was a great experience overall. read more

This place was easy to find thanks to Yelp. We wanted BBQ and found this little gem off the beaten path. Just a couple of guys serving up some amazing brisket and chicken. Our sandwiches were delicious as they had a great mix of sauce and crust. Really enjoyed the sandwiches. Go for the honey butter corn bread. I wish there were some treats on the menu. You're not going to find anything like this. It's like hand crafted smoked food. I will be back! read more

I had the chicken plate and my bf had the brisket plate. Both were absolutely delicious! I'm not a fan of chili, but I devoured this chili and the potato salad was good as well. They had the most precious pup hanging out, too. I'd definitely come back on my next visit to Mammoth! read more

This place is a must go on your trip to Mammoth. It is a staple on my drive home, 2 sandwiches and an elk sausage! The cornbread smeared with honey butter is so moist you better get 2 drinks to wash it all down. The beans are another meal, thick and sticking to my ribs! This guy knows what he's doing. I've been vacationing in Mammoth for decades, and I've tried a lot of the restaurants/eateries in town over the years, and this is by far the best meal I've ever had in Mammoth. My wife and I are BBQ SNOBS, and we havent had better BBQ than Embers thus far. The brisket was the ultimate crowd pleaser, followed by the elk sausage, which was enDEERring, and the ribs were RIBdiculously delicious. The spicy beans are a must, and that slaw is a game-changer. The owner takes a lot of pride in his craft and it shows. I prefer more interpersonal relations over being waited on when it comes to service, and he was very kind, friendly, and outgoing. He also noticed I was a first responder and offered me a discount, which I deeply appreciated. Definitely spread the word about Embers, as their marketing thrives off of word of mouth and social media. The ambiance/atmosphere is modest and laid back, which suits me just fine given it's in Mammoth Lakes. Much like Mammoth, with Embers, you're here for the mouthwatering experience, which puts it over the top. My family and I will be back next vacation. Embers will become a vacation mainstay for meals. read more

Excellent brisket. Was perfectly seasoned and had that perfect texture that I have not had since visiting Dallas. The bar has now been raised for the rest of the Texas bbq restaurants in California! The wild thing to me is that the owner, Drake, is a one man show. The best Texas bbq that I've had in California and it's one guy with a food truck?? Incredible. We stopped by Emberz BBQ on our way out of town and were so happy we did. We ordered 2 of the brisket and elk sausage plates with chili beans and white cheddar Mac n cheese as a side, which was more than enough food for 2 people with great serving sizes. All of it was amazing, I'm a big fan of bbq brisket and I would say this place is at the top my list! The elk sausage has cheese in it and is so flavorful, the brisket is cooked perfectly, almost melt in your mouth but still has a nice bite to it and great flavor! Last but not least the customer service was 11 out of 10 such a cool dude! I would highly recommend taking the time to eat here while you are in Mammoth, you will not be disappointed!! read more

I wish I took a photo before I absolutely SCARFED everything down. To begin, the gentleman who was taking our order (pretty sure the owner?) was a whole vibe. Very happy to help and answer all the questions we had. We went with the double brisket Mac with cornbread and chili on the side. I don't eat pork so we passed on the Elk/pork sausage (very interesting option though). I was hesitant on ordering the chili but he gave us a very generous sample to try it before locking in our order. Killed it in less than 20 mins, I couldn't stop stuffing my face. 10/10 one of the best hidden gems in mammoth. read more
