This food truck is in a commercial area so we used our GPS to find it. We arrived around 3:30 PM on Friday and there was nobody there. We didn't get to meet the owner as he had someone covering for him when we arrived. The menu is quite simple. Unfortunately, they were out of the cornbread and potato salad. We ordered the coleslaw and the beans. The elk sausage is quite tasty, but had quite a kick to it. The brisket was good, but we thought it was a little on the dry side, but the sauce was nice. Came by after doing 10 miles of hiking. I was excited to see such a well reviewed restaurant serving bbq in mammoth! The yelp hours are a little misleading since it shows 24/7 but they close by 7pm. This is a small shack next to an industrial complex. Based on other yelp reviews I ordered the following: - 3/5 - brisket plate with 2 sides, brisket was pretty dry and not moist at all Elk sausage - lots of reviews mentioned this but it seemed pretty similar to any other pork or beef sausage Probably wouldn't come back for this again. Food = briskets are smoked perfectly, seasoned great and really tender. It is juicy and tasty just like the chickens. I believe he uses boneless chicken thigh, which i think is better. Dark meat have more flavor. Lastly the elk sausage, deep it on the bbq sauce and it will escalate the taste. Sides = mac and cheese, i loved it cause it is creamy. I'm so glad I was able to find this place on yelp just a few hours before they closed on Saturday! embers is a food truck parked next to a distillery and has a relatively small menu. despite looking pretty unassuming, there's a lot of flavor and personality coming from embers! the truck is run by a super friendly guy named Drake who helped us with our pretty big order! he was extremely kind and patient with us and kept a smile on everyone's faces while we were ordering and waiting. the food itself is amazing! the meat was tender and flavorful and the sides went perfectly with the mains. the truck itself is only open on Fridays and Saturday's so I'm so glad that we were able to try it during our trip and I definitely recommend for a satisfying meal in mammoth if you're ever able to catch it! read more

Came here after snowboarding in mammoth and we were caught by surprise. It's a bit of a late review but I'm catching up with everything haha. One of the owners served us and we had a bit of small talk. It was really nice having a personal experience. Location is a bit weird but that makes 100x better. It's surrounded by other buildings but it's not a plaza with other restaurants. It's a gem find honestly. There were some tables set up but it was extremely windy so we ended up eating in the car. Right when we were about to leave, the owner walked out and waved like he was seeing us off. You can tell they really care about their customers and their experience. We got a 3 protein plate with 2 sides. The owner recommended it to us as most economical. It was great value for what we got! Everything tasted great. We wanted to go back for another plate but had dinner commitments with friends in Tahoe. We were already a bit behind making this pitstop but it was worth it. We were supposed to come back the following weekend coming back from Tahoe but some plans changed and we weren't able to. I've been vacationing in Mammoth for decades, and I've tried a lot of the restaurants/eateries in town over the years, and this is by far the best meal I've ever had in Mammoth. My wife and I are BBQ SNOBS, and we havent had better BBQ than Embers thus far. The brisket was the ultimate crowd pleaser, followed by the elk sausage, which was enDEERring, and the ribs were RIBdiculously delicious. The spicy beans are a must, and that slaw is a game-changer. The owner takes a lot of pride in his craft and it shows. I prefer more interpersonal relations over being waited on when it comes to service, and he was very kind, friendly, and outgoing. He also noticed I was a first responder and offered me a discount, which I deeply appreciated. Definitely spread the word about Embers, as their marketing thrives off of word of mouth and social media. The ambiance/atmosphere is modest and laid back, which suits me just fine given it's in Mammoth Lakes. Much like Mammoth, with Embers, you're here for the mouthwatering experience, which puts it over the top. My family and I will be back next vacation.
