When I mentioned the missing side, our original waiter finally brought out a single, untoasted slice of sourdough with butter alongside the check. ​When I informed him that I no longer needed it since we had already finished our meal, he mumbled something under his breath, abruptly told us to pay at the front, and walked away. We received absolutely no apology for the oversight or for his dismissive attitude. ​While the kitchen staff did a lovely job with the food, the front-of-house service needs significant improvement. I highly recommend management focus on training staff to be more attentive, understanding, and considerate when handling mistakes.

We ordered the coleslaw and the beans. The elk sausage is quite tasty, but had quite a kick to it. The brisket was good, but we thought it was a little on the dry side, but the sauce was nice. I got the Hot Bird and really enjoyed the cowboy candy (sweet pickled jalapeños), which added a great sweet/spicy contrast. Zak went for the Smothered Bird and was very happy with it. I tried a bite and the gravy was the standout for me. The andouille sausage gives it a nice smoky depth without completely taking over. The biscuit is comically large, but luckily it's not just a vehicle for the fillings. It's rich, buttery, and actually has that soft, moist buttermilk texture you want. The chicken was equally impressive with a seriously crunchy coating. Basically, if you've been sleeping on the ground and eating camping food for a few days, this is the kind of meal that reminds you civilization has its perks. I ordered the Goat Cheese grilled cheese sandwich and it was supposed to come with smoked salmon, capers, fennel salsa, and lemon spread. The salmon was lacking, it would have been better with 1-2 more slices to at least cover the width of the bread (it literally came with 2 little pieces as shown in my photo). I don't think there was fennel salsa either, but I understand that with a long line of customers and dwindling ingredients they would have to cut some corners. At $13.50 this was a little mediocre but hefty enough to satiate me for the rest of my snowboarding session. This was definitely more on the fancier side of the fine dining at Mammoth Mountain Resort, will come back to try the Mozzarella and hopefully it'll be made with a little more TLC next time
