The food and service are absolutely incredible. Here we've been to Mammoth several years in a row and eaten at quite a few restaurants in the area and this is by far our family's favorite. I am a former resident of Mammoth Lakes and frequently visit many times a year . I was just visiting this 4th of July weekend and had breakfast with friends while I was in town . I have dined at Good Life many times over the years and have seen a decline in service and quality of the food ( my opinion ) Listen .... I understand that this restaurant is not 5 stars nor is it 3 stars ( my opinion) But the owners and its staff have one job and that job is to provide the absolute best service experience and food possible to the community. My hash brown potatoes were raw and my food was sub par . No effort , no passion . ( my opinion) The server couldn't be bothered with my comment of the raw food . Some good, some not so good, but overall not bad spot we stopped in at for lunch. The interior has almost a confusing atmosphere like when a restaurant changes hands multiple times but keeps all the vibes of each iteration. From figurines on sale, to old posters and gumball machines, the interior gives old diner and family restaurant vibes and the exterior patio gives mountain brewery vibes. The weather was nice so we sat outside. We each had omelettes, and apart from a thick slice of cheddar cheese being melted on top, they were both pretty good. I didn't care for the hash browns but my girlfriend loved them, so I'd say they're hit or miss. The Arnold Palmer I ordered was awful, with lemonade that was way too tart, and iced tea that had a sugarless berry flavor. Poorly blended and I barely drank any. Overall the food wasn't bad, it was filling, the service was decent and the location was ok, but it was still pricey at nearly $60 for two for lunch, and for that reason alone I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

The server who was female with long brown hair tied back in a pony tail who was prob in her 40s is the worst server I've ever had. I asked for some ranch and a knife and it never came. Good mix of locals and tourists when we went to the Good Life Cafe. Ordered the Cobb Salad, Tuna Melt, and Chili Verde Omelette. The Cobb Salad for $19.95 was a decent size and was large enough to feed two. The tuna melt was pretty standard and came on large Texas toast sized slices of bread. The chili verse sauce was good, but the pork wasn't very flavorful and the hash browns were burnt. Want here for lunch with my family. I ordered a garden salad that was just lettuce with sprouts on top. The honey mustard dressing was so bad I considered sending it back. My family enjoyed their lunches overall. Unfortunately the staff was poor. Our server barely spoke to us and was unfriendly. Busy lil breakfast/lunch spot nestled in a strip mall that is currently undergoing renovations. Quickly seated, it was cramped inside but not terribly so where we had any issues getting in and out of our table. Service was pretty good for as busy as it was. Our food also came out pretty quickly. As for the food, it was pricey for the portion size and mediocre in quality/taste. I ordered the vegan scramble which actually had no egg substitutes, just sauteed veggies and came with corn tortillas. The entree virtually had no flavor and left me hungry still. And then, we waited and waited and waited. After about a half hour our food finally came out looking delicious. My garden burger, however, was crisped into a slab of cardboard, the wheat bun toasted until it was more like a charred piece of wood and the fries were barely thawed from the freezer. This was on my list to visit the last time I was in Mammoth and today, I had the opportunity. I've been to The Warming Hut & The Stove and I feel the Good Life is better than both of them. First off, they are located in the same shopping center as Harmony Brazilian BBQ. So on a weekend, parking is usually not an issue, unless you come on a long holiday weekend then all bets are off. Walked in on a Saturday around 12:30pm and it was pretty empty by this time. Got seated and decided to try the Chile verde breakfast burrito. Because this breakfast burrito came sauced up with Chile verde sauce and melted cheese on top, it added a new dimension to this classic breakfast item. My first bit blew me away. Man the verde sauce was really tasty and it's not too tart and was well balanced. My only issue was that the restaurant was so warm that after eating this, I started sweating so much that it kind of ruined my appetite. The sauce is spicy and will make your head sweat. But I still think it's tolerable. Overall, I think I will put this as my top choice for breakfast/lunch place. I think I will try their enchiladas next. read more

This place is not what it used to be, we've gone here for 30+ years. I don't think the owners are the same as they were back in the day. My kids and I were having breakfast a few days ago, and my daughter found a shard of glass in her orange juice. It was very frightening. She pulled it out of the back of her mouth and almost swallowed it!! when we told the waitress, she proceeded to make everything worse, instead of remaining calm, she freaked out, insisted on calling the paramedics, even though as the mother of the child who almost swallowed the glass, I said that was not necessary as she was fine. Then instead of calmly, apologizing, and trying to find the source of the broken glass in their kitchen, she proceeded to spend the rest of the time defensively arguing with me, insisting that it wasn't glass it was plastic!! It was the most bizarre thing, whether it was glass or plastic it was a very sharp shard that could have seriously injured someone if ingested. At the end of this whole ordeal and after the paramedics came and left agreeing that no medical treatment was needed, she proceeded to walk up to the table and say that customers were complaining we were too loud and we needed to leave the restaurant!!! can you imagine!!? I was in shock, needless to say the entire restaurant was empty and there were two customers in the back of the restaurant and literally no one else. The heart of the matter here is my child almost swallowed glass, not all of the distractions this woman was trying to introduce to the situation. I would never set foot in this restaurant again. Waiting for them to open for breakfast and asking if we could be sat outside (which was COMPLETELY set up and ready to go for service) I was told they weren't sitting outside right now because I asked to be seated with our service dog! I get it they have notices EVERYWHERE that they are anti-dog, no pets, no emotional support animals, no small dogs but I presented with having an ACTUAL service dog and opted to sit outside since they were so negative apparently about having animals anywhere near they're establishment. Right as we were leaving they seated a family outside! So thanks for LYING to my face and denying access to LEGITIMATE service dogs like my husband's! Got takeout from this place on our first night in Mammoth after a long travel day. The food is solid and reasonably priced, particularly for a tourist town. We got an appetizer and three entrees. All were pretty large and had lots of good veggies. The teriyaki stir fry in particular was loaded with greens. The chicken picata and pork chop both came with big hunks of meat. The zucchini parmesan is basically fries, but it's zucchini not potato, so less guilt! Online ordering system was down so we had to go place our order in person. read more

I got breakfast here one morning and it was pretty good! Mostly typical diner fare with the toast and hash browns, but I was very impressed by the veggies in my omelette. I added spinach and mushroom to a plain cheese omelette and there was a ton in there. Really surprised and pleased by that! The toast and hash browns were nothing to write home about either way. Came back for lunch a few days later and was completely disappointed. I got a tuna melt with zucchini. The zucchini sticks got raves from other reviewers, but I didn't think they were anything special. Just bland and unexciting, But the tuna melt was the big disappointment.
