Inside of steak pie

Got a steak pie and a Jaffa cake for later. The pie had a great flaky crust, and the meat filling was very flavorful. I was expecting a few more vegetables in the filling, though. The Jaffa cake was good as well. Prices are on the high side, but the quality is high and I would still recommend it.

Stumbled upon this spot because we needed to use a restroom but WOW, we were shocked how much we loved the pies. We originally got 2 and then went back to buy more. The lamb pie, lentil pie, and apple pie were all superb!

There aren't many food options in June Lake, but this place immediately caught my eye and I'm so glad I went to try it. I ordered a steak pie (delicious!) and a hot chai (was okay). I've been pleasantly surprised with the food in June Lake and will be back.

This New Zealand meat pie shop is located in June Lake. Their pies were downright delicious!! At only $13, the personal-sized pies come out ultra fresh and warm, with a flaky, buttery crust and with a range of tasty, melt-in-your-mouth fillings. The lamb pie was filled generously with protein. This one came out fresh from the oven, so that first bite was just pure bliss. Also ordered was the butter chicken which was so, so creamy and incredibly comforting. They also serve coffee and are open as early as 7AM. They feature largely savory pies, but they have a few sweet varietals too. A welcome addition to the June Lake area, to be sure!

So many people in Mammoth said not to miss this place. So we made the drive in the snow and it didn't disappoint! Located not far from the main road, it's a quaint little shop. The girl behind the counter greeted us with a smile and recommended the steak and butter chicken pies. We ordered those and were glad we did! The crusts were amazing! So buttery and fresh. The steak had a nice hearty sauce and meat was so tender. The butter chicken was amazing, tender and full of flavor. So well made! We decided to order cheesecake with lemon curd. Once again we were pleased with our choice. Soft and full of flavor, with a tasty graham cracker crust. The selection of warm teas and coffee were a bonus. Now we know why so many others love this place. Don't miss out!!

Just stop here!! The hot meat pies hit the spot. The crust is super flaky and delicious. My favorite is the butter chicken. I grabbed a few frozen ones to share with friends. So, so good!

I recently tried this meat pie spot and it was such a great experience! I had the butter chicken meat pie and the apple pie, and both were absolutely delicious. The butter chicken filling was so flavorful and perfectly seasoned, and the dough in the pastries is honestly to die for. You can really tell everything is made with care. I also loved that they bake their desserts fresh daily, which made the apple pie taste even better. The service was quick, and the server was super nice and open to talking about all the products and giving recommendations. Overall, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I'll definitely be coming back to try more!

Iconic sign welcoming with gratitude.

There's nothing better than the aroma of a fresh baked pie! This kiwi owned locals loved establishment makes delicious everything coming out of their kitchen. I highly recommend their apple pie! The lentil pie looked amazing and wish I had tried that as well. The butter chicken is delicious, but be ready to be very full. Service with a smile and friendly attitude -can't recommend more! Indoor and outdoor seating with the light country feel inside.

PERFECT! After a day of skiing at June we stopped at Pino Pie for Pi Day (3/14) on a friend's recommendation. OMG, EPIC! We got the Butter Chicken Pie (a curry pie) and the Apple Pie and both were delicious! Visiting Pino Pies will be our new June Lake tradition! And the view? One of the best in the world!

Assortment of frozen pies to go!

They have officially moved from their location in Bishop to June Lake! And while it's now an extra 20 minute drive up north from Mammoth, it is still and forever will be a priority to stop by and pick up some pies! The pies no matter which one you try (we've tried them all!), are all delicious. They stuffed with local meats and the puff pastry is so buttery and flakey. The staff is super friendly and very inviting. Dulcie (owner) always greets you with a smile. The ambiance is nice and clean. The display of pies and desserts as soon you enter capture your eye. So get yourself a warm pie, a sausage roll, and a caramel bar, take a seat facing the make road of June Lake and enjoy the nice warm meal. So happy for Pino Pies to have a brick and mortar location again! June Lake has gained a gem!

Ground beef and cheese pie
Catrina C.

The best meat pie I have ever had! The ground beef and cheese pie was incredibly delicious. The crust was perfectly crisp and light, the filling was made with locally sourced beef from Bishop, and the cheese added just the right amount of gooey goodness. The owners were so kind, welcoming, and informative, which made the experience even better. We picked up our pies to go, and they were still hot by the time we got back to our place down the street. We will definitely be returning to try more flavors!

Stopped by here randomly while we were in the area. Pot pies were delicious! We tried the steak and chicken. Puff pastry was super flaky. Service very friendly. We liked the pies so much we decided to buy two of the other savory meat pies and an apple for take and bake dinner in our camper later that evening. The caramel bar is also really good (but pretty sweet). After trying all the savory pies my husband and I agreed on our favorite being the lamb with the chicken coming in second. Super cute interior and a nice little outdoor patio. The patrons dog friendly but dogs are not allowed inside.

Delicious and flakey meat pies.

Three of us stopped here after hiking Parker Lake. We bought the lamb, steak and hamburger and cut them into thirds so we could try each of them. There were all delicious and the pastry was nice and flakey.

Ask the Community - Pino Pies

Hi! July 1, passing through, where will your truck be? Would love to take some pies to Mammoth with us.

How does one tell the difference between beef pie or chicken pie? May I please have cooking instructions for meat pies?

Bake in oven @375 for 15 mins comes out perfect

How to cook a frozen pino pie?

The shop will give you a card with instructions, a stack of them is on the cash register. About an hour at 350, or when juices start to bubble out. I bake on a tray.

Do you make a gluten free pie? I'm sure your crust is part of the magic but hoping you've experimented with gf options. :)

Hello. So no but yes, we don't have any gluten free pies but if you stop by Tuesday or Wednesday we can sell you some of the pie filling without the crust.they are gluten free and are thickened with with tapioca starch. We are also working on… Read more

Do you ship your pies?

Yes we do! (it is probably more economical to order a dozen or more pies to make it worth the postage) Usually ships 2 day shipping. with dry ice or packs. call for a quote to your zip code. (424) 3958610. Dulcie

This has a very casual, family friendly, outdoorsy ambiance. Once indoors, Chase and Blaise took great care of us. It was already a few minutes past their weekend closing time of 8 pm but Chase still offered us a sample with an unhurried smile and kept the door open for a few more minutes. When we saw the flavor options in the bins, we noted they were out of our favorite type but Chase happily reassured us there was more and without hesitation opened a new container of ice cream just for us while joking that he would eat the best part of the new container (the extra cookies crunched into the top of the container). We ordered our pint of delicious ice cream then Blaise checked us out at the register. It was a beautiful evening to sit at their tables but we left to eat it because we had others who were waiting at the cabin to consume it as well. If we were eating outside, I'd try to convince my group to order the 4 flavor flight! The 2026 posted summer hours were 12-8 Friday- Saturday and 12-7 Sunday- Thursday. The ice cream servers allowed us to use their images and names in my review.

It's $6 for a single scoop. $12 for a single scoop on top of a waffle. I wanted to get their freshly made waffle, it looked fantastic, but it I had just ate pizza. The girl working was very nice and this place had great customer service. I sampled a few flavors, and they were all delicious! They have a Lemon Poppyseed flavor that is so unique and it actually tastes good! I also sampled the Birthday cake: a classic you can't go wrong with. Blueberry: could have a stronger blueberry flavor. Black Cherry: traditional black cherry flavor. I ultimately decided on coconut and I was very happy! The coconut flavor was strong and there were pieces of shredded coconut in it. Definitely checkout this place if you're in the area!

We went there both for dinner and breakfast, and one thing became very clear very quickly: the portions here are absolutely gigantic. We learned fast that sharing was the smartest strategy unless we planned to spend the rest of the day recovering from a food coma. The breakfast burrito deserves its own monument. No exaggeration, that thing could probably feed four people comfortably, and somehow it was also excellent. Huge and delicious is a dangerous combination. The night before, we had enchiladas that were also very good and satisfying after a long day of driving and exploring. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the whole place had an easygoing mountain-town charm. They also serve wine and beer, which made dinner even more enjoyable. One of the best parts of the café is the outdoor garden seating area. It is really lovely, peaceful, and has partial views toward Mono Lake, which makes the experience feel even more special. Overall, this place felt warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. Great food, enormous portions, beautiful outdoor seating, and exactly the kind of spot you hope to find on a road trip.
