In the times I have been there, it's been one beertender, no service at your table and service at the bar has been less than great. Not particularly friendly, just .... there. If you've never been, I'd recommend checking it out for the experience. But the Tides is also right there and in my opinion such a better experience. The Washington Beer Blog states that Redd Dog is moving in later in 2026 and will be running a brewery at this location. It's a turnkey scenario. Redd Dog is already present in Tacoma as a U Pour taphouse on 6th Avenue hosting guest taps from other breweries but with them making the move here it is going to be a brewery. It's sad to see Black Fleet close. Their beers were very refreshing and they later on made craft sodas which were fantastic. They will be deeply missed!

Walking along First Avenue in Seattle Washington, I happen to notice an old vacant building…read moresqueezed between two giant skyscrapers . It seemed out of place next to all the new modern buildings and business on the block. This was the only original building on the block. The whole block is redeveloped with new apartments/ condo's / offices / restaurants and museums. What story does this building have to tell ? This building was designed by a local Seattle architect by the name of Willian E. Boone . and completed in 1890 right after the "Great Fire of 1889 " and "YES "William E. Boone is a direct descendent of Daniel Boone. It architecture embraces (QueenAnne/Richardsonian Romanesque Style.) It is officially known as the " Seven Seas Building". Other names the building was known by were "Hotel Vendôme / Post Edward Building / New Hotel Vendom/ Salton Hotel and lastly the " Lusty Lady ". After being vacant since 1985, there is new interest by an local Seattle development company ( Revolve). However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five.
