We are very pleased with David and Daniel's quartz installation in our kitchen. I initially emailed David with the general size (over 80 sq ft) and the color (white). He responded quickly with a list of costs for 3 different white slabs. After checking out several other installers we settled on Discount Granite. I contacted David and he came to our house with samples, measured, and gave us a written quote. He suggested we check out the quartz slabs at the Arizona Tile before making our decision. We did. David arrived again to do the template and within one week he and Daniel installed the quartz. We love it, it is perfect, and it fits our redo of our kitchen. David arrived all three times to our house when he said he would and on time. His craftsmanship is evident in the install. Very professional and honest. Six years ago I gave Discount Granite 5 stars. This year only 1. As a repeat customer, I thought David would have been happy to fabricate and install granite on another BBQ and planter. I was dead wrong. I totally understand contractors are extremely busy these days however it should not come at the expense of decent customer service. If he was that busy, he should have declined the job. There is a drawn out story leading up to the install that I will skip but none is good. David was and still is uncommunicative, uncooperative and frankly, intimidating. Everything had to be on his terms, his time. No flexibility, at all, to anyone else's time or schedule. After many texts (he will not talk on the phone or return phone calls which would have made everything easier), we finally scheduled the install. He was very standoffish upon arrival. No greeting, no eye contact, nothing. I left him alone to do his job figuring at least this part would go right. The results? Terrible. First, the back splash to the BBQ was left out. I dont know if he forgot, since I never got anything in writing or if he ran out of material. He never informed me so I dont know. Secondly, the granite is not secured to the base of the BBQ or planter. If you lean, step or sit on it, the granite will tip off. There are small globs of glue underneath that obviously not holding it. David was paid in full! He was told well in advance I would be out of town the month of August. Before I left, to texted and left voicemail of the problems and requested to pencil me in for mid Sept. I've texted a couple of times since I've been back. No response. David owes me an apology and reimbursement for a job not completed. I now have to pay another contractor to finish his job in order to move forward with the project that has taken several months too long to begin with. I gave an honest account. David was very prompt and professional during the initial estimate. They showed up when they scheduled, they spent extra time taking out a cabinet in a corner that they did not plan on removing and David texted me back when I addressed him about my concerns. I have only had countertops put in twice, the first was on the initial build of our home. I wish I could post pictures of the finished work. There is a 3/4" gap of damaged drywall above the entire countertop in the kitchen and areas where the drywall has actual holes where they hit it with the countertops. David told me this is a job for a good handyman to repair. Under the cabinets and in all the drawers there is drywall debris along with all the grout that they removed and all the dust from the old countertop removal. I guess a job for a good house cleaner. I don't know if I'm overreacting but I have contacted a few reputable companies to get their input and share some pics. I was out of town during the installation so I was extremely disappointed to come home to this. I do not like to post bad reviews for people who I think are trying to do their best but wanted to give a heads up to anyone planning on using them that there may be a lot of additional work and cost once they "finish" the job. When it came to laying out the template David gave us many great ideas on how to lay out the design. He truly is a craftsman like other reviewers have said. David helped us with the layout of a very difficult island snack bar. We had lots of angles and strange placements of cabinets to get the most out of the space. I emailed with the rough size of our bathroom counters and received a quote over email next day. We were working on a tight budget to redo our bathrooms and David gave us the option of using remnant quartz - we were able to get a piece that fit perfectly and we are so happy with it! Unfortunately, he could not get out kitchen done with one slab so it was going to cost us $14000 more. We did find a contractor that was able to find a slab that would fit our whole job.
