Great new addition to the neighborhood! We have been here for grooming and boarding and are pleased with both services. I think boarding costs are fair and going rate for the area. The employees are nice and I felt comfortable to leave my dog there for a grooming. The groomer listened to how I wanted her fur cut and did her best to match it. My dog was pretty and waiting happily when I came to pick her up. They were also super quick! About an hour and a half for a full groom! They also have some cute toys and treats! read more

I will never come back to this place after the what I saw be done to a dog on their live webcam. From the camera facing the small breed daycare you can see part of the grooming room. Since my dog was getting groom that day I looked at the web cam to see if I could see him. I saw a mustache man grooming a shih tzu which I thought was mine and I saw him hit the dog and go on to pull his hair aggressively. My heart dropped and I called the place immediately to complain the lady in the front desk assured me it was not my dog but still that wasn't the point. After hanging up with her I kept looking at the webcam and saw her come in and talk to the mustache man and then she closed the curtain so I couldn't see anymore. This made me freak out and I ran to go get my dog. Once I got there they only kept addressing how it was not my dog but another shih tzu but to be honest regardless of whether it was my dog or not you should not treat a dog that way ever. read more

Disco Paws has been great since the moment I called! I brought my 8 month old HYPER pup to try out their daycare and they welcomed him back whenever we wanted. First class service for your pup! I took my 8 mth old pup here for Boarding and knew he would be in good hands. The staff was great and accommodating and my pup was surrounded by furry friends all day long in their Doggy Disco Lounge rather than being stuck in a cage all day (like most boarding facilities I've seen). I've taken my dog to disco paws twice for grooming and I've been happy each time. Today I went in early for daycare and the groomer, Pamela, was still able to come out and chat with me about my pup's cut. My dog was nervous but Pamela sat on the ground with us until my dog was calm enough to be held. She offered to file my dogs nails if needed but didn't end up having to and didn't do the service or charge the extra fee, even though I said she could. The rates are totally reasonable and the facilities are great. Services take a while but it's worth it for the attention they give to each pet. I'd recommend them! read more

I will NEVER bring my dog back to Disco Paws for day care again. I really wanted to love this place. It seems clean, they sell nice things, and the people at the front desk have always been nice to us. Luckily we get to see what goes on in the back. We saw a handler PUNCH a dog TWICE. On several other occasions, other handlers hit other dogs. It wasn't my dog who was hit (as far as I know) but that is no way to treat ANY dog, and this was all in an 8 hour span. Nobody brings their dog in to day care to get hit by other people. It's supposed to be a safe space where your dog will be watched and cared for at all times. With that being said there were several moments where dogs were snapping at each other and there were no handlers in the room. They are understaffed. At one time I saw over 15 dogs in one room with one handler. I was overwhelmed just watching on camera. They are not compassionate towards the dogs. My 6 month old dog was inhumanly DRAGGED OUT WITH A SLIP LEAD . When they brought my dog back in they YANKED on the slip lead to pull him back toward them. The staff seems to be undertrained in dog handling and dog body language because some dogs were even bullying others (yes that's a thing). When my wife confronted the owner about what we had seen on camera, she replied with "sometimes we nudge the dogs when they misbehave." My wife was so infuriated that she paid (which she shouldn't have) and walked out. If you really care for your dogs and their well being, consider other pet daycares in the area. read more

Our sitter canceled on us right before we left for a recent trip, leaving my boyfriend and I in need of a place to leave our four month old puppy for seven nights while we were away. It was our first time leaving our baby, and we were understandably nervous. We actually live in Long Island City, but found ourselves unsatisfied with many of the facilities in our neighborhood and the way they handled boarding. So we decided to look in Astoria for a place to leave our baby. I'd heard about Disco Paws from friends who lived in the Ditmars area, and reached out for a temperament test for our dog. Immediately, we felt way more comfortable than we had felt with any of the other facilities we'd checked out. At our test, we were able to speak with the staff and the owner, Amanda, who was patient and answered all of our questions. We decided to go ahead and board our pup here, and we picked him up upon our arrival home today! We came home to a happy, tired pup. We loved that we could bring our puppy's crate to sleep in. Because we were traveling outside of the country, we also really appreciated the daily Disco Reports, picture updates, and live webcam, so that I could check in on him in between sights. Disco Paws even allowed us to have our friends who are nearby check in on him to see how he was adjusting! When I had some technical errors getting my pup's Disco Report one day, I reached out via email and the report was sent to me almost immediately. As a bonus, because our pup had a longer stay, he got a free bath and was clean and fluffy as a cloud when we picked him up. The staff here is professional, and the facilities are spotless. They have a great group of dogs here, too. We'll definitely board our baby here again the next time we have to go away without him. And though it's a bit of a trek from our apartment, we even plan to bring him for daycare and grooming here as well. Disco Paws is top notch, and put these nervous puppy parents at ease! I can't recommend them enough! read more

I LOVE this place! I have taken my dog, Stella, here several times now and every time I have been blown away by the quality of their service. Stella is nervous whenever I leave her and the wonderful staff is always sensitive to this and goes out of their way to soothe her and make her feel comfortable. I have taken Stella to the daycare and also to the grooming and each time she came home happy and relaxed. I love that when you take your pet to the doggy day care they send you a report card with pictures so you know exactly how your pet spent their day! I've taken my dog here twice. Both experiences were not the best. The staff is always extremely nice and easy going. They have web cams, so you can log in at any moment to watch your dog. I have a smaller sized, more relaxed dog, so she is always put in the smaller room. Id' prefer this to her being with active dogs that are bigger than her; however, there is never a worker that stays in the room with her and the other dogs in this room. They look in from the neighboring room that has a clear window, but there have been several occasions where dogs have gone to the bathroom in the room and no one comes to clean it up for a while. I counted on one occasion and it was up to 30 minutes before someone came in to clean. There was pee and poop all over the room. I had to call on a separate occasion because no one had gone in to clean and dogs (including mine) were eating poop. They also have a large number of dogs there with minimal staff. It's often that I've seen close to 20 dogs between 2 rooms and 1 employee left to supervise both spaces. I hesitated on writing this because the staff is super friendly and I really wanted to like this place, but they really have some areas they need to improve before I think of sending my dog back for the day. read more

I live around the corner from Disc Paws on 32nd Street in Astoria. Their employees are constantly walking their dogs on our small, dead end street, allowing the dogs to go into our front yards, defecating and urinating. We do not want this to occur, since it is our private property. Even if they urinate and defecate across the street and the walkers pick up after their dogs, the odor is extremely strong. There are many other streets where the walkers can walk the dogs, and I would like them to do so, thus using our street less. It is not necessary to walk ALL of their dogs on our street. It is very unsanitary and disgusting. We are not ALL dog lovers. When some of my neighbors have complained, they were rudely spoken to by the owners. When I myself spoke to one of the walkers, she was extremely rude, and would not move her dog from in front of my feet when I was sitting on my own steps. read more

I definitely do not recommend this place for grooming it's very unprofessional more like a let's get together place first and last time I believe this place runs by the owner friends and they do a lousy job after all it's not their place I feel sorry for the owner and give this place a year or so a business can not run counting on friends and a friend bring a friend it runs by the community, they just open and it's going down the drain wake up owner or you will loose it I give the place minus 10 I was there two weeks ago gave the vaccination paper to a lady behind the counter they could not find it I should have known then not to bring my dogs there but I gave it a chance they failed me miserably run the other way if you even think of the place for more then a day care wast of time and money they should be excellent for a year before they let themselves go down and get bad NO, NO, NO, don't do it to yourselves they very good in manipulations have answers for everything stay as far as possible if they got a good rate from someone is probably from a friend or a friend of a friend that's how they r in their business they survive due to friends not more ONE YEAR and they go down matter of time not everybody is a friend we are a community a horrible horrible place minus 10 read more
