If I could give zero stars, I would. I am beyond frustrated and at the end of my rope with this horrid company. I feel I have given them ample chances to make things right, but end up disappointed every time.
First off, we had only switched to AT&T UVERSE and DIRECTV after a friend of ours had opened his own installation company/contractor. It took a couple of weeks for installation after we signed up, and we were given a "promotional offer" for signing up, for what I understood to be 6 months, and then another discount for the remainder of the 2-year contract. This we have in writing, but after only 3 months lost the "sign-up" offer. When I called, I spoke to some sarcastic woman who said "it's 90 days. everyone gets 90 days." That was that. When the installers came, they left the cable unburied in the back yard. After two attempts to contact someone to bury it, they came out. Instead of following the path we wished, around the edge of the yard, they dug diagonally across it. They also buried it less than an inch deep, and it continuously came unearthed. One time, our dog got ahold of it, and chewed it to the point our service was interrupted. Not their fault, I get that. We called, and a technician actually came out the next day, and spliced the wire. He told us it would need to be replaced completely, that this was a temporary fix. He stated he had submitted a "trouble ticket". WEEKS went by, and after multiple calls and unsuccessful attempts at reaching someone, we were told that a technician had been to our house on two different attempts and that we weren't home. This is absolutely absurd. One of us works from home daily. So, they submitted a new "trouble ticket". I received a call that a technician would be out on x date. And that someone would need to be home from 8am-8pm. That seemed a little unrealistic to me, but ok. The date that was given to us, I actually had to be home and took the day off work. Nobody showed. I lost a day of work and nobody showed up. I called again, and was told again that their records showed that someone arrived and nobody was home. So, ANOTHER "trouble ticket" was submitted. This time, someone actually came, but ended up hooking up our "new" line to the WRONG box. After he had realized his mistake, he said he was not responsible for fixing it, and would have to submit another "trouble ticket". WHAT?!? I tried speaking with him otherwise, and his answer was literally "sorry". Another couple weeks went by, we have about 3 unburied cables running through the yard at this point, and someone else came out and connected it to the right box, but didn't bury the new line, and didn't remove the old line. So we call again. Finally, after another few weeks, someone came out and "buried" the lines that were exposed closest to the house under about oh, an inch of dirt again. He said city regulations didn't permit him to dig any deeper. Meanwhile, cables were left exposed in the back of the yard. (To this day, they still are, this is going on 18 months). I personally have painstakingly secured them/tried to bury a little deeper multiple times after AT&T would not.
Another frustration I have, such as when we were experiencing modem problems, is customer service will not let you speak with the technician directly. They refuse to provide you with a number to call to speak to the people directly that can actually help you. This "middle man" practice is horrid and inefficient. For that matter, they won't let you speak with any field reps either. And information gets lost in translation.
The problem we're having now, is that our promotional offer fell off our plan prematurely, and we're being billed incorrectly. The first time, 4 months ago when I noticed it, I called customer service. I was told "due to a glitch in our billing system, you lost your promotional offers, it's our mistake, we'll fix it and credit your account with the difference". This has now occurred 4 times in-a-row. And every time I call, I get some nice, sweet person that says the same thing and how it's all fixed, and how what we were overbilled would be credited to our account, etc. I was even told that we'd be receiving an additional $20 per month off for the next 6 months for the inconvenience. And the same thing keeps happening. It's NOT fixed, and quite frankly I'm exhausted and tired of calling. (Makes me wonder if that's what they bank on?). And I can't afford to keep up with their mistakes.
I have absolutely had it. I don't even want it fixed anymore. I want out! This company is nothing but disorganized, shady crooks and incompetent! Please save yourself the trouble and run...run FAR away from anything that AT&T has it's name on!! read more
