I should of done my research on this business, they charge your bank account without your approval right at Christmas time $305 out of my bank account which I never authorized the only way they had my credit card was when I first started service so yes they keep your credit card on file, I called when I received the first bill for $500 and explained to the customer service lady I was not authorizing any transaction period so make sure she get a reference number to cover yourself, they refuse to credit my account but thankfully my bank contacted me about the $305 being fraudulent so the transaction is pending and has not cleared...bottom line if you do not authorize any business or person period to deduct your account they have no right the end. I will never ever recommend Direct TV super scam how they tell you how cheap it is than your hit with a huge bill. Lesson learn.. read more

I sent them this letter, we will see how they respond, along with their horrible channels TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN May 21, 2016 RE: Account Jamaa Evans Address: 922 S Brazos Street Lockhart Texas 78644 Phone number: 512995-9378 I am disgusted and repulsed by your service. To the point we left 3 months early. I paid my disconnection fee $60 and you have claimed to refund my money to AT&T since It was a bundled service. I paid for a service plan of 7.99 for the twenty-one months I was with you, but also paid for a 6.99 service plan for the 21 months with one of your retailers Called Direct HD LLC phone number 800-480-0872, this seems like fraud to me. This means I have over paid you by the amount of $167.79 in which I demand be refunded immediately. I contacted a few representative on May 21, 2016 and one of your representatives disconnected on me. I had not disrespect nor yelled at this young lady. I am also requested every bill breakdown you have since I started service with you in 2014. Please mail them to the address listed above. If this is not done I will be advising all my friends and family as well as making review post on any available website and social media accounts i.e Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr etc. I can also contact the better business bureau if I feel the need. So please refund my 7.99 x 21 months = $167.79 and any tax included if applicable, as well as send my 21 months of bill breakdowns which I have not received since I trusted you enough with direct bill pay. I hope to hear from you VERY soon! This is not my first time contacting you about an issue with no resolution. This letter will be going to corporate as well. Thanks, A very upset ex customer Jamaa Evans read more

Last week I called to let them know I didn't have service. They set me up a repairman on Wednesday. Two times on Wednesday they called to remind me the service guy would be there. No service guy ever showed up. A week later still no service. This is the third time they have made appointments and had no shows. Poor service was the reason I cancelled them last time I had them. Thought since I moved they had gotten better. Nope same old lousy company. read more

I decided to switch from TWC to save some money. Worst decision ever! I got Direct TV a little over a month ago and have had no service in over 2 weeks. A technician wasn't available until 7/2! Today I called to confirm the service call and they had the nerve to tell me my bill was past due! Bill? Bill for what? No service! If one of their friendly sales people come to your door with promises of lower cost and better service do yourself a favor and slam the door in their face! I've never been more disappointed in a service before. read more

I was completely lied to.. They are advertising tv and AT&T Internet for $89 per month on a combined plan with free installation. I had to fight to get my installation refunded... They were both billing me over the agreed amount 3 months later the bill is combined for $141 per month... The person said they do not offer $89 for both... I referred several family members that experienced similar experience... One passed due to the lies the other is also getting larger bills than was agreed. read more

Run Away!!! Do not get Direct TV !!!! I just had Direct TV installed in SW Austin at the end of July under a special deal. It's the worst! First off, the salesman at Walmart (special promotion table) LIED about what channels we would be receiving and told me it the package I would get would be exactly what I had with uVerse. Not true! Several channels are missing. Okay, but I'm paying a lot less than what I was with uVerse, so I can live with that misrepresentation. But the reliability of the Direct TV is abysmal. It regularly loses the signal, not only during rainstorms, but if it's drizzling out. Lately, it's been losing the signal even when it's sunny out, and not a hint of wind. Nothing is obstructing the dish. It is simply lousy equipment. I called for service and no one is available for 12 days. So instead of dealing with this nonsense anymore, I am cancelled my service, even though I incurred a $400 plus cancellation fee. That's nothing compared with the agony I've had to suffer the last month. Let this be a warning to all you AT&T uVerse customers out there that AT&T is trying to convert to Direct TV: you will be sorry! read more

I signed up for DirecTV 3 months ago based on erroneous information from the sales rep. I was sold a bill of goods folks. I was told the DirecTV had corrected the outages due to storms by putting more satellites in space and that it very rarely occurred anymore. I had 2 outages the 1st month of service and have had 3 more since. WHAT'S WORSE IS I was also told that I could continue to receive my premium channels for free by calling in every 3 months and making the request. (Actually written on the brochure the sales rep left with me is "Call every 3 months to renew free HBO promo" THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE! I have spoken to 2 local reps and a corporate rep and they all said "there are currently no premium channel promos available" so there is nothing they can or will do. The corporate rep did however give an address to write to. Literally addressed to the "Office of the President". Conveniently she didn't have a name available for said president. Whatever happened to integrity and responsibility. read more

Since they've partnered with AT&T there is ALWAYS something wrong on my bill. The customer service doesn't get good until after 30 minutes of talking to the wrong people and 3 transfers and even then, I was still displeased. Any overages charged on your account DO NOT GET REFUNDED. They get credited to your account the following month. The final lady I spoke to actually told me to "opt out" of auto pay. WTH? read more

Been with Directv since 2011 & totally agree with the "lies, lies, lies" statements!! Told them in beginning what I wanted, didn't get it, but then was screwed because of contract. Wasn't told about rebates. Was told had to wait year for upgrade. Commercial lies about how Genie works. For them to fix your equipment, you have to renew contract, on and on!! And if you ever have problem with bill, good luck talking to third world countries to resolve it!! read more

Unbeknownst to us, they won't actually get on the roof to install. Huh? Installer cannot leave the ladder, requiring us to hire someone to cut down trees in our yard. What a bunch of crap. read more

Of course I didn't read these reviews last year when I got the service. The started me at a reasonable rate then after 1 year it more than doubled. Now I have to pay a $220 cancellation fee to be through with them. Please learn from My lesson today on 9/17/2014. This is the worst case of teaser rate I have seen in a while. read more

they have charged us $240 for service we have not had, we canceled in December of 2014 and now they say they only suspended us for 6 months. We moved from San Diego to Austin and haven't used them. We spoke with supervisor and they won't drop the fee, I can't believe it after 14 years of being a customer and they treat you that way!!! read more

If I could give a zero I certainly would. Customer servie is horrible, the technician that came out to my house was rude and obviously did not want to be working. I decided to canel my services and the spot and asked the technician to leave my home. read more

Biggest mistake I have made in a long time. I scheduled an install for Friday between 8 and 12. Got a text stating my installer would arrive between 8 and 12. At 2:00 I called AT&T about it. At 2:30 got first call from installer saying he was on another job and would be there within a couple of hours. Never showed up. Contacted AT&T again. Was told I could reschedule for the next week. NO WAY, I had already lost a day. THey needed to be there on Saturday morning, Direct would not budge. Finally got an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I lost 2 full days waiting to have my tv installed. The scheduling is a joke. Being they missed me on Friday, you would have thought I would be the next morning. NOPE, you have to start from scratch. THey had an appointment drop off but there system is so bad I didn't get moved and my installer didn't know about me until after lunch. NEVER AGAIN. read more

What a joke! DIRECTV wants to take $35 off my outrageous $490 something bill! Y'all are such a scam! I called to cancel my service because I was going to be moving and didn't want to pay the movers fee, well a lady from DIRECTV convinced me that I could move with absolutely NO FEE! Sounded great! Until I got my bill and I was in fact charged a $200 movers fee along with other ridiculous "fees"! I called to get everything figured out and the charges taken off and the guy on the phone said that "the customer agreed to movers fee". Like are you serious!? The whole reason I was canceling service was to avoid that, why in the hell would I agree!? THEN! DIRECTV tries to email me saying they can win me back and let us make it right. Y'all want to make it right then don't lie to people and tell them they won't be charged and end up charging them! I was a loyal customer for over 2 years! Now I will NEVER do business with DIRECTV EVER AGAIN!!! Money hungry SCAMMERS! Bills were never the price I was guaranteed. read more

Their customer service dept is a joke. Every time I upgrade, cancel or change service I get someone else on the phone who says something completely different. First it was that I was merging accounts due to marriage so no cancellation fee, then I hung up to call back when I had my paperwork and the next person says it was a cancellation fee, then it was I could get "new member" rates if I cancel and then sign up, then they had a fire alarm go off in the building and the rep hung up on me, Then I called back and it was no that's fraud if I cancel my house and then move and sign up as a new customer to save $35 a month (what the previous rep told me to do), then it was $80 cancel fee instead of $140 and I said DEAL to that rep. So I canceled all my service for $80 to get out of my contract instead of $140. Moral of the story is all cable companies are a joke, but I'm going to sign up later at my husband's house as a new account and get the amazing deals. Joke on them. read more

worst service and technical support ever. nothing but technical and billing problems. 5 problems inside of 3 months. Called on a Thursday for the 5th time and after their typical 40 minute of mostly automated phone call trying to fix remotely, of course unsuccessfully, was told they couldn't send out a technician until the following Monday with a 4 hour window that we must be home. Of course, this is the Monday AFTER the NFL playoffs... I asked to speak with a manager and I spoke with an Ashley (who sounded like she was about 18) that was very "matter of fact", very rude, and told me it doesn't matter that it's the 5th time I've had a problem, that they couldn't get to me until Monday. When I said that this is horrible service and if I can't get results, then I'll be taking my business to one of her competitors, she said, (in a juvenile, uneducated voice) "you'll need to bring our equipment to us, thank you for calling direct TV"...and she hung up the phone. I've been in the service business for over 30 years and trust me, this is a horrible experience. If you want to bang your head against a brick wall or maybe poke your own eyes out with a stick, then direct TV is for you! This is only the 2nd time I've ever given somebody a bad review. I usually don't yelp unless I've had a pleasant experience. I would only do this if it was the worst kind of experience and I felt DEEPLY mistreated. read more

I do not recommend DirecTV. DirecTV "gave" us an NFL package without notice. Apparently, it was a free trial offer with an auto renew, but they never informed us. DirecTV then added the NFL package to our plan without our consent and started charging us $33 per month. They also charge $6 per month for every TV you have set up. Our bill went up to $197 a month! When I noticed it, I called to cancel the NFL pkg. I didn't ask for a refund for the past charges, I just asked to cancel the $33 pkg from that day forward. They said I couldn't cancel because I was bound by contract. They said I should have called them within days of the first charge. How could I be bound by contract when I never authorized the extra package in the first place? I wish I could switch to Dish Network but I can't until next summer without paying a big cancellation fine. I did an online search and DirecTV has a ton of negative reviews and complaints about unauthorized charges. Now I have to check my DirecTV bill line by line for unauthorized charges every single month in case they try and do this again. A DirecTV call center employee anonymously posted on a blog that every customer needs to read ALL of the fine print on their DirecTV contract. The employee stated it is the customer's fault since it is perfectly legal to add packages to a customer's bill. I had Dish Network for over 10 years and they never added anything without our consent. I will switch back to Dish as soon as our DirecTV contract ends in 6 months. read more

They go out of their way to convince you, that you are 'locking in' a TWO YEAR 'fixed/reasonable' rate. But after the 1ST YEAR ends, THE RATE JUMPED up from around $68/mo to around $95/mo and this is just for tv channels that should be 'basic'. It turns out that somewhere in the fine print, it says you have to subscribe to an additional service (phone or internet)to keep that tv rate. But NOBODY EVER MENTIONED THIS. AFTER THE FIRST YEAR ENDS, YOU RECEIVE YOUR BILL AND IT HAS JUMPED $30/mo!!! I Haven't had a landline in 20 years so i have no need for that service. I get my internet thru SPECTRUM so when it's raining i don't lose my internet service, yet meanwhile, the tv freezes up/loses signal(( another reason why they suck!))So I got them to drop it down to $85ish/mo but they dropped a few channels (incl;ESPN & Fox Sports1, you'd think these would be considered basic channels) $85/mo for '(basic cable), a handful of useful channels and unreliable when it rains' is NOT a good deal, but they don't really give a sh*t. Ever talk to them on the phone? If you did you would realize this read more

My husband is mad and my kids are mad that I switched to Direct TV. You should know that when they advertise 120 channels or 150 that about 80% of those channels are what my husband calls "JUNK MAIL" Channels. (lose 15 lbs in 21 days, look younger without a face lift, sex after 50, and so on) I have never seen so many info commercial channels in my life. Second thing my family hates is you might have the package with 150 channels but when you go to the guide you have to scroll through EVERY channel - whether you get that channel or not (channels you get are highlighted and the ones you don't get are not). SO you might only get 150 channels but you have to scroll through about 500. WHile the picture is a lot better than Grande I could call Grande at 3 in the morning and they would answer. My picture is frozen on my direct tv right now and customer service is closed - are you kidding me? I wish I had NEVER signed up. I signed up through Sam's club and if I could go back I would. No one in my family is happy with it. I am debating on paying the $400 cancellation fee and finding some other provider. Just check out the channels BEFORE signing up. And when the guy at Sam's tell you that if you miss you show you can go back up to 3 days and watch it they are LYING to get you business. You can only do that on a very few select channels. I also asked him if the package I was selecting had 3 specific channels that my husband like and was told yes. Come to find out I had to go to packages higher to get those channels - just know that those people that stand there at Sam's are going to saying anything they can to get you to buy the package. read more

Cut the cord!! Do not even consider DirectTV as a service provider. On July 19th, I scheduled a service call to upgrade my equipment. I have been a customer for 3 years and THEY kept sending me emails to upgrade for free. I scheduled the appointment for 10 days out, between the hours of 8-12, and took a day off work for the appointment. I got no less than 4 robot calls confirming the appointment with instructions that someone had to be home, yada yada yada...at 11:45, I received another call stating that the technician would arrive between 12:30 and 1:00. The technician called at 12:45 stating that he didn't have the proper equipment on his truck for the installation and would arrive around 2:00. He arrived and still did not gave the proper orders. He did what he could, but could not complete the job. Said he would be back this morning at 8:00 to complete. At 8:45, I get a robo call stating that the technician was scheduled for 6-8PM!!! I had company coming in this afternoon! I have spent a day and a half waiting and still no TV. I call DirectTV and after 50 minutes and three supervisors, they tell me that they can't do anything about the scheduling, but that they will contact the local office and promise that someone will call me within the next hour and a half. After 2 hours and no calls, I call back and ask to speak to the last supervisor I had talked to. The person I was speaking with did not have the authority to transfer me. He transferred me to his supervisor. I waited for 26 minutes to speak to her. She was not even the person I needed, she was in billing and couldn't even see the notes on my account!! She informed me that all she could see was an appointment set up for August 8th and asked if that was correct. Needless to say, I informed her in no uncertain terms that it was most certainly not correct, and told her to just go ahead and cancel all my services and that on August 8th, the tech could pick up all of their equipment in a box on my front porch. Still waiting to see how their wonderful customer service representatives will handle this! read more

HORRIBLE service! I left Time Warner when I moved almost two years ago and thought their products and service were bad. Now I am counting the days until my contract expires so I can go back to Time Warner. My box went out today and when I called, they told me I would have to pay them $20.00 to send me a refurbished box. Their inferior equipment goes out an I have to pay them to send me a new (refurbished) one. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. This experience has been a nightmare from the get go. They were rude when they came to install the equipment. The fees almost doubled after the first year. Many of their channels are not HD. The channels are not not organized and it is not user friendly. After signing up, I was receiving a call or an e-mail at least once a month trying to sell me something else. I can pay the same amount with Time Warner and get internet and phone included. read more
