I returned from a trip to find a new layout screen for my previously recorded programs. A day later, I was trying to go through and delete some newly recorded items and, due to the new layout, deleted ten programs (all of them) that were all under a single heading. I didn't want to remove the items, but now have to see if they will ever be on again so I can get them back on. I wish Directv would stop messing around with the selection screens. When I bought my 4K TV at Best Buy they had a service rep there from Direct TV who told me the only way to see 4K was with their service so I signed up. First, I signed up for the $89.00 per month special. After a month it went up to $119. I was ok with it as the amount of sports programming was good. But the streaming experience was just ok. Everyday, 4 or 5 times a day, the app would freeze, and I would have to reset AppleTV. No other streaming services have this problem and I am on a super fast fiber network. Then, the day of my bill date (in this case Aug 2 2025), I get an email saying my bill would go up to $189 a month! So I immediately canceled the service. The next day I get charged $129 for the month of August, a day after I canceled. They will not refund me the full amount for August. I warn you, Directv will give you a great price for starting their service, but will jack up the price a few months into it. And on top of that, their streaming service is well below par. read more

There are only two men assigned to this suburb of Austin & are available to work here only 2 days a week ... they just can't get here." I AM FURIOUS!! Who is running this company?? DELAYS & EXCUSES ARE NON-STOP. Next available appt is 01/08 (after offering 01/13). I can't keep adjusting my calendar to meet the serviceman's ... & they've only called to cancel at the very last minute. DirecTV won't let me cancel! It's bad enough that you have to phone in a service cancellation. There's no other way to cancel, and that should be illegal. But today, after trying numerous DirecTV phone numbers, I got the same results. The robot asks for account details, than asks for my 4-digit passcode, and then...routes me right back to the beginning of the phone tree! It's an endless Hell loop! I tried asking for a billing agent instead. It took forever, but that just put me on Hell Hold, where that awful suicide music drones loudly and they give you no indication of what you're holding for or how long the wait time is. I have been a DirectTv customer for years. I pay over $240 per month. I had a hard drive crash on one of my receivers and they replaced it with an outdated reconditioned model that was also defective. I called and requested a new replacement and was told they would send one for N/C since I have the "protection program". However........ I had to sign a 24 month contract or I would have to purchase the second replacement, even though the replacement they sent me was defective. They suggested I speak to their Customer Retention Manager which I agreed to do. She said she couldn't believe what I was told and she would ask her supervisor for a review. She came back after a 5 minute hold and told me they were sorry, but there was nothing she could do. They don't want or deserve my business. I will be cutting the cord. read more

Their service has been lousy lately. They sent a "free" Gemini that didn't work, plus they added a charge to my bill that was undisclosed and incorrect...very sneaky. Don't fall for free remote! They have dropped my local ABC channel during their contract dispute with their provider, but offered a free Local Channel Connection antenna. Tech came out to install it but it didn't work either. I have a strong signal for local channels, but couldn't deliver on this either. Oh, and they increased my monthly bill even without notifying me and without local ABC ...no so great. read more

Direct TV is the ABSOLUTE worst. I was a happy Uverse customer for several years. Then my significant other decided that he wanted to switch to direct TV to bundle with his cell phone (uverse was in my name). He had no problems getting them to switch out Uverse to direct TV without me being there to authorize it. However, when it came to putting it in his name, that was impossible. For months, we called and spoke to person after person after person and no one could switch the account to his name. I don't know how many times he told them that I never authorized the account being switched in my name, it need to be in his name and no one could do anything. Finally at my wit's end, we called again to switch it to his name and they refused, so we cancelled. Oh of course, they cut off service with no problem at all. They swore there would be no cancellation fee because I didn't authorize the switch and we still got at least three bills with a $375 cancellation charge. Again, he talked to at least five people on five occasions and they all claimed they would not charge the cancellation fee since the switch was never authorized. And we're still getting bills. This company and their "employees" are horrible, unscrupulous liars. No matter how good it sounds, do not get involved with these people. They will find a way to screw you over. We've since discovered Sling. So much better with no drama and no disgusting customer service. read more

If I could give no stars I would! I moved out of my home to put it on the market in the end of 2018, I sold my home in the beginning of 2019..yay! when I moved out of my home I cancelled all accounts associated with that house: electric, gas, trash pick up, phone, internet, etc. All of my accounts were closed and settled by the time the house sold in the beginning of 2019. I contacted Direct TV to discuss signing up at my new home and am told I have an outstanding balance?!? When I try to get more information I get the run around, conflicting information, refusal to provide me with information, the worst customer service experience I've had in a very long time! When I closed all of my accounts and my old house they were paid in full with no balance due and in a few instances I received a credit from the more reputable companies. Direct TV and AT&T however are the most un-helpful and un-coordinated companies I've ever dealt with making it impossible to find out what is going on and how to resolve the problem. They told me I had numerous accounts for my home (how would I ever end up with two internet accounts for one house?)... the ridiculous information given to me yesterday is too much to try and type out, and frankly it doesn't make any sense. My purpose in writing this is to warn everyone, because I doubt they respond to customer concerns.... And don't ask a question that the computer can't understand or tell them how to respond... "Does not compute.." Since ATT bought DIRECTV they have had my account split up and still have not been able to merge their services. I had a Directtv account suspended for months due to travel outside of the country. I decided to hook it back up so I called them and their sales people were quick to promise me the NFL max package, a visa gift card and movie channels. I told them I still had my equipment. She said ok she will just cancel my old account and send a service guy out. Instead I went and got my old equipment and called them back. The installation expert got it and put the nfl package mac on my old equipment. So I was under the impression that she put the new service on the old equipment. Then I left the country for a week. Came back and the package was gone. I called again, hours of conversations, rude escalation managers and they said it was removed but they literally have no idea why. But its gone and they will not honor their commitment. NOW they have the package added but it is 65 dollars a month for six months. The escalation manager rudely said, do tou want me to cancel your account, it will cost you 190 dollars and then have a new service installed and would be able to get all that was committed to. I contacted them on chat, facebook, twitter and they have no solution still. They have my old address on the service from 2 years ago. Every time I call I tell them I dont live there anymore. They cannot get their order systems aligned. They cannot connect the dots with what their own reps set up. So it was agreed upon AND installed and yet I have to pay for it. By the way, it is cheaper for me to cancel my account and re set it up than it is to pay for the nfl package and would save them an installation call. So THAT is why they get one star. We received an offer to go back to Direct Tv which is owned by AT&T. Since we were never thrilled with our current provider and we were offered a $300. cash card as an incentive, I called them. I was connected with a nice lady who spoke clearly and I said that we wanted to come back but that we needed internet and no longer wanted a land line. We concluded a deal and since we would be saving about $40. per month, I agreed. Later in the day, I received an Email that said I needed to call to give them more information. When I called and gave them the order # that they were asking for. They then aske why I was calling.(At this time, I was speaking with people who could not understand me and who I could not understand). Finally, someone concluded that the reason for the Email was that they could not do the deal as agreed. I am now at the point that many of the people who read this review are at also. My next step is to cut the cable, fund a good internet provider and never look back. For one thing, a cable or dish company might tell you that there is 200 or 300 channels but most of them have nothing of interest to watch. The time has come to realize that we are being way overcharged for a very poor collection of services. read more

God I miss Time Warner. My husband insisted that dish was better than cable/Time Warner. Boy was he wrong. Lies, lies, lies. Wasted time on the phone. Their freakin' email on their website only lets you do a certain amount of characters, so you are forced to call them. Since dealing with Sucky Sprint, I have learned to get crap in writing, because not only do you waste hours on the phone with these a-holes, when you call back once AGAIN, they claim they have no record of the past conversation. First my husband was told he could cancel anytime, no contract. The truth is, you CAN cancel anytime, they just charge you a certain dollar amount each month until your CONTRACT is up. So now, with a year left on our contract, it would cost us $200 to tell them to come get their crap. The technician also told my husband we could only get two boxes, not three, and to "call back in December to get the third". WTF? When I called, they told me all customers are allowed to get three boxes included in the price. If that was so, why didn't we get three? I think somebody didn't know WTF they were doing or was lazy that day or wanted to go home early... We had trouble getting the $100 referral bonus... They want you to call a certain phone number in a certain amount of time or you're screwed. Luckily I got a customer service rep that knew what she was doing and despite that the amount of time had passed, we got our bonus. Also, we were told our monthly bill would be $99.... well we got our bill and it's a hundred and freaking forty dollars. Are you freaking kidding me? When I called customer service, AGAIN, she explained all the effing fees that go along with it.... RIP OFF. My husband got a new bank so he had to change his debit card number. These idiots didn't complete the task so he was charged two overdraft fees because the funds were not in his old account for two transactions because DIRECT TV used the WRONG account. We have disputed this with them and were supposed to get the overdraft fees back, but nothing yet so we have given up. And we have had lots of other crap we have had to call about, which I won't bore you with, but as usual someone either lies or they don't know how to do their damn job so when I call and sit on the phone for a half hour they tell me something opposite. OMG, Direct TV via AT&T is the worst! I've never dealt with a cable service provider that is so clueless! They have a major communication gap within. I have called them about 6 different times and spent about 2.5 hrs. on the phone, simply to get my mother's outdated/obsolete cable box upgraded. It's obvious there is an overseas call center somewhere in Asia which I think is part of the problem. The other part is that they are using some sort of 3rd party installation service. Twice they have come to my mother's house and not completed or even started the job. First they said they were not aware she had international channels which was a surprise to me. He said he didn't have the equipment he needed (international dish). The 2nd guy said he didn't have the HD cable box he needed. He too was not aware that my mother had international channels. When speaking with the rep who created the work order, we discussed the international channels, but apparently this was not part of the order/memo the service person received. On my second time setting up the service, I SPECIFICALLY told them to note we needed an HD upgrade (cable box) and that my mother had international channels. The service guy said he was not aware. I was getting frustrated and the service guy at my mom's said this happens everyday! All that he knew is that my mother's cable was not working correctly. How is it that the people receiving the work order are not aware of the customer's current cable plan, equipment, and requested needs??????? Nobody at Direct TV seems to be on the same page either. First I was told there would be no charge for the upgrade, but a $10 fee for HD, then I was told by another person, there is a $50 charge for the service. Then I was told there is no $50 charge and no $10 upgrade fee. They are the only company that I know of with a Korean TV package. Otherwise I would cancel my mom's service in a heartbeat. I have had so many problems with Directv. The tower keeps going out multiple times a week to the point where I should be a professional IT person with how often I have to do all the tricks to get the tv working again! We have had a tech come out to take a look and fix everything but the connection keeps going out. Customer service is very helpful however, it is just the equipment doesn't work so it is definitely not worth the price! I also don't like how I am not able to watch certain shows on the app. Whats the point if I can't watch it wherever I go like the advertising says? Just got off the phone with Tony Mills from customer service. He was such a pleasure to speak with! He took care of my remote issue (#4 stopped working) and made it pleasurable going through all the required tests. Of course we both knew I just needed a new remote but the tests had to be done per policy. That made him so wonderful was that he wasn't a DTv robot, I got to speak with a REAL person! I wish more of the reps were like this. Would make me feel a lot more at ease as a customer knowing the person I'm speaking with may be able to empathize b/c I'm able to sense their emotions too. Please Direct Tv do the right thing and give Tony a promotion so he can show others what customer service REALLY looks like(and so he can get a raise)! I signed up thru Costco and the AT&T Direct TV representative told us we would be getting all these services. We did not receive the services we were promised, never received the $200 Costco card and when asked about it, I was given the run around! This is a follow up to my scathingly negative review of 2 weeks ago, where I grudgingly awarded DirecTV one star as there was no lower recognition. After half a dozen failed "confirmed" installation appointment,s over nearly two months, we were visited today by ATT/DirecTV customer service rep Edward Garcia, who has been with ATT/DirecTV for 12 years. Edward spent over an hour with us, reviewing every aspect of our new installation at our Austin home and of the continuing service at our Burnet County home. He was exceptionally thorough, making calls to his "base" for clarification when necessary. Edward even discontinued several charges for added services which we had not requested and do not use. Edward presented us with a totally concerned, organized and very professional picture of what we had hoped an ATT/DirecTV representative would be. We also were visited today, on time, by David, an ATT/DirecTV contractor tech, who at this moment is getting us connected to the service. This has been a total improvement to our last two months' experience with the company and a 5-star review now is appropriate. Ralph G. read more

There was a Satellite Dish and equipment installed without my permission on one of my properties. I have had ATT Uverse for many years and I was very happy with that service. I had my secretary call to have the service taken out of a tenants name and put back in mine and they sent a satellite crew to install Satellite in a neighborhood that forbids Satellite. When I called Gwendolyn and asked her to have it removed, she refused and said they where charging ME a cancellation fee for equipment that I never even authorized or requested. I believe there is great evidence to support a DTPA violation and if you don't handle this urgently I will be filling a lawsuit immediately. read more

I have been a DirecTV customer off and on since 2001. Never again. While traveling I put my account on suspension during a billing period that I had prepaid for. While on suspend I called them and told them to just cancel the service and go ahead and issue the credit that was on the account. When I got back home I took the equipment to FedEx as directed, after having been told incorrectly to look for information in the mail about boxes and a cancellation package that was to be sent to me. A week later I see not only that the credit hasn't been issued but that I now have a new bill for about $120. I have received no satellite product, no content, no nothing from DirecTV since the end of July,and I have no DVR or Genie, no remotes, no nothing. They say now that when I cancelled the service they not only took me off of suspend, although I was traveling and had no access to their product, but they BILLED me for another month service. "That's the way our system works" I was told. Now, I am awaiting yet another phone call from the "back office people" because no none I was able to talk to could do anything except to personally apologize to me. These people are awful and apparently are doing everything they can to make people mad for an extra $100 of free revenue without having provided any service or product. Direct TV ran a promotion recently that included free HBO for 12 months and another bundle of premium channels like Starz, Showtime, etc. was free for 3 months. What they didn't tell you was that if you cancelled the free bundle, the free HBO went away as well. It's just deceptive, no other way to describe it. Love the service though... read more

DirectTV app update (not DirectTV Now) is no longer compatible with IOs9. I'm not happy about that. I get that Apple no longer supports IOs9...and that fact is none of my concern. The fact that DirectTV did not program the new update to support IOs9 is what I'm complaining about. I work with developers...there is no reason NOT to program down. Just wondering their agreement contractually obligated them to stop supporting an IOs that is completely functional. I don't buy new technology just because it's old or unsupported and most other consumers don't either. read more

If I could give zero stars I would... These people are liars and nothing about their company says what supposedly their company motto is where they are all about integrity and customer service. I have never been lied to by so many people in my life about the same thing. My husband and I were trying to install service and not have a contract because we already own the equipment we were told over and over that that was possible however when the technician arrived at our home we were told that that was impossible and then when we started calling back we were told also by DirecTV representatives that was impossible. The only reason we are still pursuing their service is because they have NFL Sunday ticket so they have us between a rock and a hard place if we want to be able to watch all the football games. read more

I've been a happy customer since 1999, I really like the service and the innovative offerings that they provide before others in the market. Customer service has always been top notch...THEN AT&T BOUGHT THEM! Customer service has never been worse. For instance, yesterday, the installers were to come out and upgrade my equipment. I received robot calls at 7am and 10am confirming that the technician would be there between our scheduled 8am-noon service. At noon, the technician called and said that we was not going to make it because he locked his keys in the truck and didn't want to come out today. This was after waiting 2 weeks for a date. My only option was to call the 800 number and reschedule. The first date that they would allow was 2 weeks out, and it would be with the same guy. I later found out that AT&T is replacing the DirecTV customer service reps, and that installations scheduled through DirecTV needed to go through their contractor as their contracts have not expired. However, if you go through AT&T, they use AT&T employees to do the installation. I cancelled my DirecTV service and scheduled the service via AT&T, we'll see how that goes. read more
