I recently built a $1500 PC with parts purchased entirely from Directron. From day 1 I've had nothing but problems with the PC; first it was a bad motherboard that I had to pay them $75 to diagnose simply because I put the PC together rather than paying them to do it (funny how no one told me that was a stipulation when piecing a computer together through them), mind you I've been an I.T. professional for 12 years not including all of the time spent with PC's growing up and the numerous other PC's I've built and had zero problems with. After paying the $75 dollars to have them diagnose an issue with the motherboard that they sold me, I test the computer at the store and it boots, I take it home just glad to have it working. When I took the computer back home after paying the ridiculous diagnostic fee, I opened the computer up only to find that the "tech" who put everything back together zip tied the cables together so tightly that he bent all of the pins on the motherboard for the power button, HDD LED, reset button, etc. I had to redo all of the cable management and bend the pins back to their original position. No wonder I continue to have problems with this machine. I get the computer back home, install my OS and get everything going. After I'm up and running I try to install and play some 3D games (Borderlands in particular) and it keeps locking up, BSOD and all kinds of other stuff any time I try to play any 3d material. At this point I don't even want to mess with directron anymore so I open a ticket with the video card manufacturer EVGA and eventually they RMA the card and voila, I can play 3d games now. In all the years I've built computers I've never had an issue with faulty parts much less a bad motherboard AND a bad video card from two different manufacturers purchased from one location. And to top it off, the customer service was rude and unwilling to give me my $75 dollars back after the problem was found to be a defective item that THEY sold me. I'll never buy anything from directron again, I'll take my business elsewhere and I will recommend others do the same. My advice, don't purchase computer equipment from here. I will warn everyone I know not to purchase computer hardware through this shady, rude, hardware reselling store. read more

Think I love these guys, total geek paradise... theres fellow nerds alllllllllllllll over the place... and they arent even workers. Fantastical. Will probably be a regular now, some1 always wants MEEEEEEEEEEEE to expense parts n gadgets for them, this place makes it pleasurable to do so. I placed an order online for two items (identical). One was shipped and the entire amount was billed. I have called countless times, and left messages when possible. What's unbelievable is their customer service number now just tells you 'no one is available' and hangs up!. You can't even leave a message. I even tried the option to place an order and it just rings...no one even answers it. What kind of operation is this? I have completed a discrepancy report per their packaging information. To date no one has bothered contacting me. I'm now disputing the charge with Amex so I can hopefully recoup some money. Buyer beware. Very shady operation. read more

This used to be my go to company to source parts for my computer repair/sales business. I used them exclusively from 2004-2012 but over the years their selection got very slim and their customer service became non existent. You cannot reach anyone via email nor by phone. I would always order the parts together to be shipped together at the same time. They would frequently ship all of the parts for a new build except 1 part...and then I would have to sit there and wait a week for the last part to arrive. This causes many problems when customers are waiting for a computer to be installed. I think it's fine if one part had to be dropshipped from another reseller but at least let me know that is happening via email or phone. I was always kept in the dark about the status of my order. I purchase anywhere from $60K-$80K in parts every year. Every time I asked for notification of any problems as they happened. They acted like they didn't need the business. I am surprised to see that they are still open. Their prices were never the best, but since everything was 2 days shipping via UPS ground and I could order every part of a build at once...it made sense to do business with them. But why pay extra for 0 customer service now? read more

Customer Service so bad I signed up for a YELP account to vent. I usually do not write reviews on YELP, but the way their Customer Service department treated me was unacceptable. I called on a Friday asking for help concerning an order and was told since it was 4:50 their local time they could not assist me until Monday (their department closes at 5:00 pm). The customer service rep took my information and said I would get a follow up email and call back come Monday. Monday arrives and I have yet to receive anything. So I call back and speak with another customer service rep and I tell him about my issue. Guy asked if I had maybe spoken with a "Hispanic" guy. Stupid question. Moving on, he puts me on hold and says he found out who helped me and would be transferring me over. Puts me on hold and claims he will be transferring me over... next thing you know I get a fax tone. I call back a few minutes later, speak with another Rep and ask to transfer me over to his Customer Service Manager. Places me on hold, transfers me over and I get same fax tone. I would suggest buying from Newegg or TigerDirect as I have never had a bad experience with their customer service. Thank you Directron for losing me as a customer! I don't like the fact that I had to raise a storm to get them to accept that this was not a typical situation and that it deserved an exception. The mouse that I'd bought from Directron stopped working after five weeks. After notifying their customer service department of my problem, a rep contacted me the next day. He said that unfortunately they were out of stock of the item that I'd ordered and graciously offered to give me a total refund. The refund was credited to my credit card in 2 business days. I tried to place order - two weeks ago, over the phone to Directron. After 5 emails and 5 calls I still can't get them to get it right. Still no order, still no call back. The girl who answered did not enter my credit card number right or even repeat it back to make sure she got it right!. And the background noise was so loud (like a call center). Do NOT do business with this company. And if you really must, always use cash. They may be in Houston and conveniently allows product pick-up, but after having to deal with them double charging my cards (not once, but SEVERAL times) I've had enough. My boyfriend has bought several items from them and almost every time he's had to call them and fight to have several double charges removed. I agree with many other posts about the lack of phone support. I believe I got connected to the person I asked for in 1 out of 20 calls. Usually I got a) no one b) the run around or c) the wrong person. Also I found no one greeting and directing customers at the front desk. I finally discovered that an email to the sale department connected me with a person who has been able satisfy all my sales and support needs. He built me two Ubuntu Linux systems that are working just fine so far. I will continue to do business with Directron although thru the side door. read more

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!! Here's is the grueling story I went through today with them. I ordered from them on 11/25/2015. When I called on 12/3/2015 to check the status I was told the order was cancelled because I didn't send in a credit card authorization form. A form which I thought I never received. So I logged into my GMAIL acct and found nothing in the inbox. However, I found it in the SPAM folder. I told the tech on the phone this and she transferred me to someone else. Once I spoke with that person I was advised just to send it in anyway and they would reopen the order. Once I sent it in I called back and was told me that they could not re-open the order and that they would have to place a new order. So the tech takes my info places a new order and proceeds to tell me that I need a new credit card Authorization form since its a new order. Mind this form isnt digital and has to be hand filled out. So I print it fill out again and resend, and again call back. At this point I start getting bounced around from person to person. I finally get a hold of a tech that says I need to speak with a guy named George and that he is on the phone. When I tell them I will hold since I have been working this order for over 5 hrs they place me on hold for 45 minutes. The phone then rings as if its going to pick up. However, it goes to a voice mail. I leave a message and receive NO CALL BACK. SO 2 hrs later I call again and now get told they want a copy of my credit card as well as a copy of my ID... That was the last straw. I cancelled the order immediately and logged into yelp... MIND you I have never written a negative review before but this companies customer service and business is horrible to put it mildly. I don't know how they are even in business. read more
