I guess we don't have internet today? Called 9 times and it rings busy. Had someone else call because I thought it was my phone but no rings busy. I understand issues happen but at least send out a text or have an automated message saying there is an outage so my boss can verify why I am not working right now as I am a stay at home employee due to COVID. My boss has tried to look it up and says there is nothing on Facebook or their website about an outage and if that's the case I can't get help with my issue regardless. Thanks read more

Do not do business with Direct Communications LLC. Please do yourself a favor of taking the dozens of very negative reviews online as well as their F rating on the Better Business Bureau serious. The internet and fiber wire are fine, but their business practices and customer services are absolutely terrible. My experience - I was a customer for several years. When it take time to discontinue the service due to moving, I went into their office to make sure the cancellation was done properly (there were many bad reviews online I read on them of customers experiencing problems canceling there service - ie., continuing to receive bills). I cancelled my service at that time and paid all owed in full. I asked the customer rep there several times confirming there was nothing else needed from me (current/future fees, etc.). She assumed me there were none. 3 months later I get a letter in the mail from a collection agency for $100. This included a 'disputed' $50 fee on the account after cancellation, 2 late fee charges applied by the company, as well as a $20 collections fee. I called Direct Communications directly to try and resolve. They said there was nothing to do as this was already sent to collections. No communication was ever sent to me via email, phone, or mail (I provided them my forwarding address upon cancellation) by Direct Communications regarding this. I don't write reviews often, but do so in order to limit this from potentially happening to another person. Again, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC. read more

The installation tech was helpful and the reps were nice. However, everything else about this company me feel very uncomfortable. First, this company's website is a cheaply constructed wordpress site. See for yourself: http://directcom.com/eaglemtn/wp-login.php No SSL employed. It blows my mind why companies don't care at all about internet security, especially an internet service provider. You can see that they have directory listing enabled throughout their site http://directcom.com/eaglemtn/wp-includes Including things like their plugins http://directcom.com/eaglemtn/wp-content/plugins/jetpack So if anyone wants to go take a look around, including at their contact form, they've just displayed that for everyone to see http://directcom.com/eaglemtn/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7 You can see the theme their using too http://directcom.com/eaglemtn/wp-content/themes/advertica/readme.txt Not only that but their using the revslider plugin which has had multiple vulnerabilities reported about it https://blog.sucuri.net/2014/09/slider-revolution-plugin-critical-vulnerability-being-exploited.html As if that wasn't unnerving, DirectCom ask for way too much personal information when ordering service online: driver's license, SSN, and employer information. I was told that this is for collections. Total lie. I know for a fact that information is not needed to send someone to collections. When I asked why the SSN is provided over the phone, the rep told me, "it's because the information entered on the site is insecure." Seriously?! How is that supposed to make me feel about all of the personal information that I entered? Needless to say, I am convinced that the company takes no care in maintaining clients' personal information. If this wasn't the only wired internet provider in the area, I would 100% go with someone else ASAP. read more

Horrible technical support that is very condescending. Always attempt to blame your equipment when they're having issues (I was plugged directly into their line) and then want to charge $75 per hour to fix the issue. Had to explain multiple times that the issue was on their end. read more

Shame on this company! They turned our internet off even though our son needs the internet for his homeschooling during this craziness with being quarantined. They refused to help us even though we told them we would be able to pay half of our bill now and the rest by the end of the month. Their guidance was to go to ridleys and use their wifi or the rodeo grounds etc... I am so disappointed in this company and their poor excuse of customer service. read more

Their service sucks. It's expensive and slow. They really don't seem to care as long as they're making money off of you. I'm planning on switching to signal west. All my neighbors say it's awesome. Bye bye direct coms. read more

Getting internet installed is a nightmare. I called 5-10 times and left voicemails to get installed. No one ever called me back and I was only able to get through once. After finally reaching customer service, I was told it would take a week to get an appointment. When the appointment day came I was told that I would have to wait another 4 days because of technical issues. They told me they would arrive between 8-9am. It's now 11am and no one has showed up. I would recommend not using direct communications if you can find another option. Sadly, I can't. read more

I have had no problems with the service at all unlike most other in Eagle Mountain. I have one concern and one concern only. Their workers do not wear uniforms and just walk on your property. I get it is their property and they reserve the right, however, when I walk outside and ask you to identify yourself, get the heck off the phone and identify yourself. The guy continued to yammer on the phone and kept holding up his hand like my Mom when I was five. Really? Unacceptable. Fine if you need to check something but when I ask what you are doing there and you don't identify yourself and respond on my property, you are trespassing. End of story. I went around the other side of my house and saw the Direct Truck. I called Direct and asked them if someone was at my house. They told me there was. I told them he refused to identify himself. They told me that they would walk on my property any time and did not have to identify themselves. This is so unprofessional. You have to identify yourself when you walk on to someone's property. read more

I put up with Direct Communications for 9 months. Not happy at all. It didn't perform anywhere close to the advertised (and paid for) speeds. I had more and longer outages than with any other isp I have ever had. But what I hate most: Their downright dirty business model: Step 1: make it as difficult as possible to make payments: Direct Communications does not take payments over the phone UNLESS your service is suspended (more on this later). Setting up the bill pay online is difficult and confusing, it requires multiple codes which have to be obtained on the phone. Customer service closes at 5pm on weekdays, making it difficult for those of us who work a full day to call during open times. Each payment I made took 45 minutes or more to figure everything out and pay, sometimes it took multiple sessions... I have plenty of other monthly services, and none of those take any time at all to pay. Step 2: make late fees and reconnect fees ridiculously expensive: Direct Communications charges $15 late fees, and $50 reconnect fees for services that are suspended. Conveniently, once the service is suspended, and a $50 fee is to be imposed, Direct Communications is more than happy to take payment over the phone. I was dumb enough to pay the $50 reconnect fee once. Worse though, the rep on the phone did not even mention to me that she was charging me an extra $50! She just included it in the "past due amount needed to get the service turned back on." My service was suspended yesterday, and when I called to pay was the first time I found out about the $50 fee, and only because I thought the past due amount sounded high and asked. Needless to say, it will be a cold day in hell before I pay that again! I terminated my service. I am trying another broadband service that is much less expensive. Hope that works out. read more

I have had the worst time with Direct Communications. They are so far over priced for the sub par services that you get. Yes I have had great experience with their customer service (The reps were very nice), but the service goes down all the time. They don't care as long as you pay your bill. And the speed I am paying for isn't even half of what it should be. I really don't understand how a company can do this. I never wanted to use direct communications, but when I moved to eagle mountain direct communications and century link were the only choice. Garbage and garbage. Bottom line, I will never use this company again And I will never recommend this company to anyone. Worst company!! read more

I moved from one part of Eagle Mountain to another. When I set up the transfer, I made sure I wasn't getting into a new contract. In fact, I took an inconvenient option of having to wait 6 days for a tech to come out to transfer the connection in order to stay out of a contract. I wasn't home when the tech came, but my father in law was there to help out while I was at work. He signed what he thought was a work order, but ended up being a contract. Now that I'm trying to cancel, they are sticking a $75 fee to me. They won't budge. It's not my signature. Diane (or Diana) told me point blank that the $75 to their business is worth more than a bad reputation. I was floored. Completely unprofessional, aggressive, and hands down THE worst customer service. I paid my bill on time every month for 3 years - and she told me that she can't forgive this fee because she deals with too many people that don't pay their bills! These things actually came out of her mouth. I hope they go out of business - and soon! Time after time I'm promised one thing, and another is delivered. Avoid at all costs. I promise, if you think it's worth it because they seem like the only option, it's NOT WORTH IT! read more

THE WORST COMPANY!!! We are consistently having problems with them and they are NEVER available to solve the issues. So over them.

UPDATE 11/7/14 ::: After 3 more service calls to my house, multiple support calls and no improvement in reliability or speed performance, I have retained a lawyer to help get me out of my contract. Being the level-headed person that I am, I reached out to DC again this morning to give them one last chance to cancel the contract without having to go through lawyers or jump through hoops, and still they say they won't cancel my contract without a $200 Fee... And I only have 2 months left on the contract. At least I tried, right. The lawyers can have it from here. read more

Terrible company. They claim they never "throttle" customers' internet speeds, but internet is still almost always slow. I had a couple of issues where my internet completely stopped working. They sent a technician and had the nerve to bill me for having a rep fix their own terrible internet. I also had an issue where the post-office lost the check I sent them for my bill, and Direct Communications refused to remove the late fee from my account. When the check finally arrived at their location, they credited the amount of the check to my account, but still refused to remove the late fee. If you have any other options for internet, I urge you to pursue those before considering Direct Communications. Their poor internet quality couple with terrible customer service makes them a complete waste of time and money. read more

Most unreliable internet I have ever had. Internet is slow and always stops working. Direct Communications closes at 5:30pm which means if you have a problem they won't help you until you call them again the next day to remind them that their service sucks. They are also closed on the weekend so if you lose your internet Friday night you will not have internet until sometime the next week when they feel like helping you. They have a monopoly on the Eagle Mountain area and that is why they are perfectly fine not caring about their customer service. I would be embarrassed to work for this company. read more

We have had the fiber optic internet since June 2015. We have had great internet speeds with consistent performances. No major outages or customer service issues. We've got WIFI through this place & they're great. When something's wrong & we don't get our WIFI working, they'll help us out!

Horrible! Use anyone else! The internet service was horrible, even after upgrading at a higher rate! What made it worse is the cancellation process and ghost fees. After I cancelled over the phone, paid my bill in full, they ghost billed me a late charge and took me off autopay without telling me, sent me a bill with late charge. Bad experience all around. read more

Absolutely THE best internet provider I've ever had. In the past I've dealt with Century Link and Comcast. Compare to them Direct Communications is a breeze. I've had them for almost 3 years now and what I love about them is that 1) my price never changes, 2) they are super reliable. I cannot think of a single time in almost 3 years that our internet has been down, 3) I actually get the speeds that they advertise! I've done several speedtest.net tests and I get the advertised speeds every time. read more

Never sent me a bill, only to get my internet disconnected and tell me there was a $50 reconnect fee. No empathy or apology AT ALL from the customer service, they just demanded payment. After talking to the rep, I found online that they had upgraded my service two levels (extra charge) than the one I ordered upon setup. SHADY! Not impressed with their internet service, and definitely not impressed with their customer service. read more

We have really enjoyed our service through Direct Communications. Our bill is consistent and a great price for the speeds they are offering us. Initially we signed up for 20/10 internet and discovered this year that they had raised our speeds to 75/40 without raising our bill. We haven't had a problem with payments or their service since we started the service in Jun 2014. Hopefully that continues to be the case. read more

Awful customer service....they screwed up with billing me and back charged me the full amount...like $400 they were not even willing to discount any of it, yet they screwed up. service was not that great anyway, I had the higher speeds and Netflix still buffered. they lost me as a customer after almost 4 years. read more

The switch from VDSL to fiber was very quick and seamless. If anyone is having an issue with speed (especially on wifi) I would look into getting a good AC router, like the Asus RT-AC68U. Most wifi issues can be fixed by using the much less crowded 5Ghz band. Edit: 4 months later and the speed and uptime are still great. For those people who are saying their connection is bad: what kind of router are you using? read more

This company has some really good potential but doesn't use the resources they have properly. I never receive any crucial information through proper channels I only receive promotions. Very hard to get a hold of them. When you finally do get to talk to someone they don't listen to any of the concerns or problems that you are experiencing. Poor customer service can be improved just needs help. read more

They have a monopoly on wired in the area. It makes you feel trapped. If there were competition then perhaps things would improve. ' You don't get the price you paid for and they are rude and just keep telling you it is your wireless router even if you are pure copper in the house. They dont get how good customer service works, they cross lines all the time from being helpful to just being condescending/rude, etc. read more

Can I give less than a star? Talk about useless internet provider. It's down more often than it's up. They are helpful, when you call to say your internet is down they can tell you that everyone else's is also... Really wish we had a different hard line option out here. We've been in eagle mountain for almost 2 years and have had service with direct communications the entire time. (What a waste of money). We constantly have issues. They recently changed everyone to fiber. We were excited for the possibility of better or maybe more reliable service but are even more disappointed than before. If you are thinking about choosing direct communications as your service provider I urge you don't waste your money here. read more

Oh I wish I could give less than 1 star, but here goes. My internet stopped working on Mar 21st after direct communications office hours. The only internet access I had was on my phone, and when I searched for their number, I got a search result saying their office was closed. I don't hold on to my bills once I've paid them so I didn't have that as a reference. On Monday I called, was told to call tech support, by a very condescending person, so I did. I put in my number to have them call me back, then I found out those take up to 24 hours to call back (I still have never received a call back from that). I called them again, staying on hold, was told they couldn't do anything until I was home (I was at work). The next day (my day off), I called again, was walked through some techy stuff, it didn't fix the problem. I was told it was a problem on their end in their server and they would call me back. When I was called back I was told they had to come out to my house and that the only available time they would be able to was on March 25th @ 2. I had to call at 2:45 to find out why the tech wasn't there yet. They said they would call, and in the mean time I had to cancel an appointment. When he finally got there (and the tech was a very nice man) he fixed the problem in about 5 minutes, stuff I could have been walked through over the phone. I asked him if there would be a charge, and he said no. He called me on March 27th to say that he was wrong and there would be a $25 dollar charge. I called to dispute it, and was told it was policy. Diane at customer service dissembles and is not a person I would want representing my company. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. We had our service set up (by their technicians) upon move in November 2016. It was a brand new house. Aside from the tech showing up outside the service window time frame and having to have another tech come out the following day, we were told to buy, "any modern router" by their tech. We did buy a modern router only to be told it was not compatible. We then bought a second router. Our internet rarely worked. Again, a tech came out, looked things over and told me to buy a new router. I called and asked for a SPECIFIC list of routers. I then purchased an expensive router from the list I was sent. My internet still worked only randomly. I called AGAIN. They sent a tech out to look things over. He found they had not set up the connection properly in the basement and had mixed up the wires at set up, 5 months ago. He corrected the problem and went on his way. Later that day, the internet stopped working. Again, I called in they sent another tech out. This tech found a completely different issue with the original install on the outside of my house. Something was not clamped down tight enough. He fixed it and went on his way. Our internet now seems to be working, for the moment. I have paid the monthly service each month, over $100 in overages on my cell phone bill to be able to work from home using my cells hot-spot when the internet goes down and over 200 in routers that was not needed as they were not actually the issue as they claimed they were. When I called in to ask them to credit my account for all the months this has not worked THEY OFFERED ME A 3 WEEK CREDIT. It hasn't worked for an entire day in probably 5 months, I was instructed to replace routers that didn't need replacing and had to use my mobile data plan just to be able to work at home. I told them to keep their pathetic credit and I will cancel my service. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE, GO WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY. read more

I don't understand the troubles people are having. My best guess is that everyone experiencing speed issues are on crappy WiFi routers. No matter what internet provider you go with they will always provide a crappy wireless router. What you need to do is buy a good router capable of the 801.11ac protocol like the Netgear x6 AC3200. There is an app you can download on your phone for the router where you can set up the Netgear router as an extension of your internet making the Netgear X6 your wireless access point while your provided ISP router still is the first point of entry for the internet. You plug the Netgear X6 into your crappy router and then this thing takes over the wireless for your home. It has much better range too. As an I.T. and Ham Radio expert I know the short comings and limits of modern wireless technology. If you are truly having speed issues what you need to do is test your speed on the LAN. Meaning that you actually plug an ethernet cable into your provided router and plug the other end into a laptop or computer. Then go to speedtest.net and run the test. If your internet speed on the LAN is slower than what your paying for and you know your computer can at least take the max speeds. (any modern computer should be able to handle a gigabit. The ethernet cable you use will also affect your speed. Any modern cable should handle up to 1gbps as well.) This is where you can go to your provider and complain if even your LAN is bad or offline.. Being that most everyone has laptops, phones, tablets, etc everyone is on the WiFi they are most likely complaining about the WiFi speed when they are thinking it is their internet provided speed. I used to have CenturyLink paying $40 a month for 20mbps. Really expensive for how slow it was. What was even more frustrating is the built-in WiFi on their provided router was so bad I was only getting 3mbps or less which isn't enough to stream on or have multiple devices on. However when I plugged in an ethernet cable to my laptop I got 20mbps like I'm paying for. It's just the WiFi that sucks. I bought the Netgear X6 wireless router, plugged it into my Centurylink router and got 20mbps wirelessly with no issues. That router can handle much higher WiFi speeds too if you eventually upgrade your speeds. WiFi will always be slower than being plugged into the LAN, so don't always expect your WiFi speeds to match what you pay for since the speeds vary based on your mobile device, distance from the router, objects between you and the router, material those objects are made of in between the router, interference from neighbor's WiFi networks, etc. There are so many variables with wireless speeds. If you are on a crappy router you are going to get crappy WiFi. A good one will help a lot more. Always use an ethernet cable when possible for the fastest possible speeds. read more
