We actually loved this place!! Our Hostess Connie was excellent ask her about her Italian heritage!! Our waitress Brenda was also very nice!! Great location on the river, Brenda has worked there for 19 years! That tell you something right there. The salads & clam chowder were excellent. Definitely be back again while in Orofino!!

What a fabulous lunch. We were greeted upon entering by two people and were allowed to choose our seat. About half of the restaurant seats are by the window with a perfect view of the river. They have a full bar but as it was lunch, so we both ordered iced tea. We shared the French onion soup and a salad. I ordered the New York steak with fries and my spouse ordered the salmon "sandwich" which just meant the salmon was served on bread. Both were prepared to perfection. For dessert we shared a cheesecake that was home made. It was better than most. I'm so happy we found this place. Kim was a great server and we would come back in a heartbeat.

Clean, friendly place with outdoor dining. We had the taco salads. Positives.. lots of meat, and a nice variety of items. My husband and I both had one and our first comment as we left was (old people food). Yes, we too are old people, but I think the better comparison would be hospital food. All the ingredients were there to be a great salad, but no spices, bland. Even the salsa was bland. Side note: some like it hot, others like it cold, their taco meat in the salad was cold. Not my personal preference, I prefer it steaming hot and very spicey. The staff were very nice, serving sizes were huge, and of course only a few feet from the hotel/lodge. Great views of the river no matter where you are seated! This was the only thing we tried, so can't comment on savory dishes other than they smelled good as the waitress walked by!

Update and rating adjustment…read more Friends from out of town wanted to eat here after seeing it. So I thought I would give it another try. Perhaps, I thought, they would do better. The bar was pretty low, after all. After sitting there a while, a young man came by and asked about what drinks we wanted. Five minutes later someone else came by and asked basically all the same things. Problems with the first one? This time I at least got my request in (never was asked the first time). Right after this, someone at the table asked for menus since we hadn't seen any yet. 15 minutes later someone came by with our drinks and asked for our order. Progress. A long wait later (26 minutes actually) the food started coming out. From walking in, to getting food was about 50 minutes. Credit given for the order all being correct. Ah, the food. I can only comment on what I and my wife got. She ordered the Philly cheese steak sandwich, gluten free. What an abomination. The bread was about 2 inches wide. And tough? It was so tough it was inedible. I tried some of the meat. I am at a loss to describe it. It seemed like it was pieces of cubed steak. And flavor? I personally do not like green peppers at all. But this sandwich's flavor wouldn't have been that objectionable as I could barely detect the green peppers. The whole thing was pretty flavorless. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger. Can't go wrong with a simple burger. So I thought. Again, flavor issues. The bigger problem was the burger. Crunchy on the edges and definitely well-done throughout. No hint of pink. Or of any moisture. I couldn't finish it. Which was a first for me. And then the bill. My wife said that before she saw it she was going to tell me to leave no tip because of the quality of the food and the minimal service we received. But the bill had 18% "gratuity included". That was news to me. I had not noticed this mentioned anywhere. I thought about discussing it but at this point I just wanted to be done with the whole thing and leave. But the most insulting part of the bill was the line for "Additional Tip". What? No chance in hell. I would like the other tip back, please, not give more. So, because of all this, I have changed my rating. It was a 2, but now I am downgrading it to a 1. And I have learned my lesson. Nobody is going to talk me into going here again.

We were in town, looking for a place for dinner and came across KC's. It seemed to be a good choice…read morewith a number of interesting looking menu items. We got there right around 6PM on Monday. There were only two other parties there so service was pretty quick. I think we got our food without 15 or 20 minutes. Chicken Fried Steak Burger ($15.49) - Starting with the meat, we have a pork chop that's breaded and fried. The pork still has a bit of fat and gristle attached and doesn't seem to be tenderized that much given a somewhat more firm bite. Still it's meaty, has good seasoning and, while not especially moist, isn't dry either. On the exterior they have a nice layer of breading that's quite salty but adds a good crunch to the sandwich. On top of the meat, there's a fried egg with the egg yolk still runny. Biting through the sandwich allows the yolk to ooze out. They add shredded potatoes to the burger, which I found to be quite week. The potatoes are undercooked, resulting in pieces that have a bit too much raw bite without any additional crisp crunch. There's a peppery and decadent sausage gravy dousing everything, which seems homemade, with larger pieces of breakfast pork pieces. I found the burger to be way too rich and it desperately needs a piquant element to cut through that a little bit. Otherwise it's eating heavy bite after heavy bite and is difficult to get through. Still it's tasty. (3/5) Upgrade Side to Poutine ($2.49) - The burgers come with fresh cut fries by default, but I chose to upgrade to poutine. Apparently if you just ask for poutine, they use tots, but I asked them to switch to fries - and to make them extra crispy. Were they extra crispy? Not at all. If anything, they were more like extra soggy. The fries are clearly single fried and not fried nearly long enough to add any sort of crisp. The brown gravy and queso (tostitos perhaps given the peppers?) taste as expected. With everything together, it's honestly indistinguishable from microwaved leftover poutine. Probably the most disappointing thing I ate that night. (2/5) KC's Burger ($11.49) - The patty is beefy, cooked medium with a bit of pink, and is exceptionally moist and flavorful. They add tons of veggies, including pickle, onion, tomato, and lettuce, giving freshness with every bite. There's a perfect amount of condiments to add additional moisture, but not too much to make the burger messy to eat. This is a solid burger, honestly not much else I can say about it. (4/5) Upgrade Side to Green Bean Fries ($2.49) - I haven't had green bean fries before, so I had to order this. I have to say this was much better than expected - in fact, this was the best thing I ate during the meal. They have a pretty good crisp exterior and the interior green bean is mostly tender but still exhibits a tiny bit of a snap. The green beans are not soggy at all. I would get these over and over again. (5/5) Frybread Slice ($1.49) - This was the last chance to get frybread on our road trip and we took advantage of it. This "slice" is essentially a small doughnut triangle, maybe 4 inches at the widest. The dough is dense and heavy, bready and chewy, folded over in a swirl rather than flattened. The taste has a bit of a subtle sourdoughy taste, but also a bit of bitterness from the oil. It's definitely very different from all the Native American frybreads we had this trip. (4/5) The food at KC's is a bit hit and miss, but if you stay with the burgers and avoid getting the fries, you'll probably leave satisfied. I see a lot of the negative reviews complaining about service, but we didn't have a problem. Perhaps since those reviews were written, the staff has improved? Bathrooms: Two individual rooms ones for each gender in the hallway behind the bar. Overall rating of the food this visit: 3.6/5

However, just less than a week ago, my girlfriend and I decided to give them a chance on MLK Day on our way out of town. We were immediately seated, and our server, Farrah, was very gracious and attentive. My GF got the Super Bird sandwich and I got the chicken-fried steak and eggs breakfast with hash browns. My GF was super happy with her meal, while mine was nearly perfect. My only issue was that the chicken-fried steak was a bit underwhelming. It needed more flavor. The eggs, hash browns, and toast were all perfect. The portion sizes were great, the coffee was good, the booth was clean, and Farrah did a great job checking on us and keeping us happy. First I ordered the *KRAFT* Mac and Cheese, what came in my order was not Kraft Mac and cheese, but rather a minuscule amount as well as the Mac and Cheese being solid chunks that were inedible. I also got sausage as well, when I took the first bite, thinking it was the only edible part of my meal, the sausage was PINK. Full on pink and undercooked. I spent way too much money to get food that could not even eat. Safe to say if I'm getting a late night hunger I will not be going to the Moscow Dennys, matter of fact I will never go here again. It is embarrassing and distasteful that the Dennys thinks this is acceptable.
