I have to change my review. I know everyone loves this place because I once did. But I came in today and I ordered the number 1. A brown sugar latte. Which tasted just like milk. I already drove off and as I was drinking it then immediately it wasn't what I expected. I came back in to try to get a replacement drink or even add something stronger in it. Of course Covid they can't touch my drink. For a replacement he denied me even though I was disappointed with my drink. Ding Tea is a fairly new and franchised Boba spot in Sacramento/Elk Grove. They have cute cups and creative drinks. I've only been here twice, the first time I got the Taro Latte and the second time, a milk tea but I don't remember which one. The place itself is nice, they have a beautiful painting on one side of the wall and a photo booth like background decorated wall of flowers on another side. When it's not super busy, I can see Ding Tea being a nice place to study, seeing how it's next to a college campus. On the other hand, it can be a chill place to hang out with friends, they have a few board and card games. The only downside about this place is that it's fairly small, so they don't have much seating. The couple times that I've been here, I always see people struggling to find somewhere to sit. I like that Ding Tea has basic milk teas that you can get at other Boba shops, BUT they also have their own creative menu as well with drinks that you can't exactly get elsewhere. I never had a Taro Latte nor have I ever seen it on a menu elsewhere, so I decided to try it here for my first visit. I believe they use actual taro, I remember having a super tiny piece of taro come up my straw, however, the drink itself was kind of bland. I tasted a hint of taro and that was about it. I felt like I was drinking a little bit of taro mixed with milk. The second time I came, I got a milk tea but don't remember which one. The same issue with my drink as last time, it was bland. I don't remember tasting any tea, it's as if the tea was too watered down. Also, I don't know why the second time around, they legit took 15 minutes to make my 1 drink order. Since there are so many tea bars in the south Sacramento area, I like to try the ones which have good yelp reviews. We ordered a Wintermelon milk tea (they were out of lychee milk tea) and Mango green tea with rainbow jelly. First time trying rainbow jelly and I didn't like it. I am a frequent here and come at least once a week or so. I never gave a review to Ding Tea before, but here I go. I ordered the Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea because I wanted to try out something new. I did not like it because of the toffee flavor. My boyfriend told me to just ask them for a new drink. I was hesitant, so he went and asked a worker there. She let him and made a new one right away! Ding tea has gave me ups & downs. Mainly because when they first opened, they were always out of something. Because it was that good! I'm giving 5 stars because their brown sugar boba latte is really good (if it's made right) The first time I've ever had it, I thought it was amazing. Both the drink itself and the boba is sweet just how I like it. The way they make it is different from a regular milk tea and it does not have any coffee in it even though it's called a "latte". There's been times when I came in and they did not make it that good and the drink just tastes like milk with brown sugar in the cup and it wasn't that sweet because I can taste just the milk. Their other popular drink is the taro with cream cheese. It's just a regular taro milk tea with cheese foam on top. Not that special to me. I prefer the brown sugar boba latte over that. We happened upon the Sacramento location since we had stopped to grab lunch nearby on our drive back from Tahoe. I've only tried the brown sugar pearl latte but I really like it! First of all, I wanted a taro milk tea but was told it couldn't be made with soy milk, and it turned out none of the milk teas except for the Thai milk tea could be made with soy milk. When I requested 50% sweetness and no ice, I was informed the level of ice for this drink can not be adjusted. It's common to be lactose intolerant, and I don't always want a fruit tea or latte, and since it was cold, I didn't want ice. I shouldn't have to justify my dissatisfaction. read more

It was blended really well cause I didn't taste any bits of ice cubes Taro with golden boba - They asked me if I wanted "fresh taro bits" (free of charge), but I declined because it could overwhelm the drink and make it kinda chunky. I got this drink for my sister and she said "one of the best taro milk tea" she had in a long time and not too sugary. Even if I don't adjust the sugar levels, their drinks overall aren't that sweet compared to other places and not too much ice either. The only times I adjust the sweetness level is when I order their lattes and signature drinks. Those can be a bit sweet for me especially since I don't like sugary things. This is definitely my favorite boba place in the Sac/Davis area. I go to UC Davis, and I still drive 30 minutes to Sac 2-3 times a week just to get Ding Tea. My recommendations are the wintermelon milk tea with less sugar/ice (literally the best wintermelon I've ever had) and the cheese cream drinks. The atmosphere of the store is really cute and clean, with a detailed painted mural and one wall and a cutesy floral backdrop perfect for photos on another. There is plenty of seating in the store, and clean bathrooms for customers to use. The employees are also really friendly, especially the manager who always recognizes me because I go there so often! My friend and I got the taro cheese foam and the Hokkaido black milk tea with golden boba. The taro was light and delicious. The Hokkaido tasted a lot like coffee. Story time! On the way to Lake Tahoe we stopped by this boba shop for a quick fix, but my boyfriend accidentally left my mini backpack (wallet, $$, battery packs, glasses) there and we didn't realize until we were hours away. (I was so pissed!!) he quickly contacted the shop and they agreed to hold it until we drove back three days later. When we came to pick it up everything was still inside and they were super friendly, we certainly got lucky. The staff here is very honest and kind! Onto the boba, they have a very unique golden boba which was completely new to me. At first I was weary because I thought it would be a weird consistency like the white agar boba, but it was great and not too sweet like some other stores. Ding Tea rivals ShareTea as the best tea place in Elk Grove, and its hard to pick between the two. Both have awesome decor and great tasting drinks. I like that DingTea offers food. It's basic snacks you'd find at a Quickly or T4: calamari, French fries, popcorn chicken, etc. It was tasty, but its really hard to screw up fried food. But just the fact that they offer food already gives this place an edge. But what I really love about this place (as wierd as it is to say) is the bathroom!! It's locked with the code on the back of your order pager. So right away you're thinking "oh geez. Locked bathrooms? There must be graffiti all over the walls and the faucet leaking puddles onto the floor". But when I walked in it felt like a bathroom on a luxury cruise ship (see attached photo). Wall-to-ceiling tiles, automatic soap dispensers, and a ring-lit mirror. The entire Bathroom was spic and span. Weird to compliment a bathroom, but I feel like food establishment owners have no idea just how much a dirty bathroom actually kills the entire vibe and experience. One star was taken off because the food took almost 20 min to come out, and the place was empty with no orders in front of me. I absolutely love this place! Easily one of my top favorite boba joints in the Elk Grove area. Service is always fast and friendly. Their drinks always taste amazing, regardless of what you order. I will say though, their Taro milk tea with cheese cream is TO DIE FOR. The food quality is better than most boba joints I've been to. I was very disappointed in the size of the boba and the price for it was very expensive. Over $4 for the boba and the cup seemed so small with a lot of ice too. I remember being in Southern California where I would pay the same price but I would get a regular 16oz. The cup and size is cute, but I believe the price should be lower than that. I changed the order to golden boba as well since I like the way ding tea makes that differently than other boba places and I was happy with that decision.
