1st visit- best English muffin sandwich ever. Avocado, fried egg, tomato, sausage, spinach. 2nd visit- wrong order. Still ate it. 3rd visit- 20 minute wait? Order wrong. Hanger levels dangerously high as I write this review while I wait for my correct order. Update: brought me my correct order and it was still wrong. Still ate it. Hanger extinguished. Moral of the story- this place is pretty hit or miss but does the trick if you need cheap breakfast food. read more

I've been going to this local cafe for several years. Good food, friendly staff/owners, and fairly priced items. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a no frills and simple cafe... which is what I love about it. It's not going to cater to everyone's dietary restrictions (eg: gluten-free, organic this or that - so search elsewhere for that). My boyfriend stopped in at this place on a whim one morning getting off the bus, he said the pictures they had posted in the window looked really good. He then dragged me in the next day, mostly cuz he wanted to try more food but also to share it with me. It was fabulous! It has since become our favorite breakfast spot in Oakland. The food is fantastic, and fresh, they also have many options for Vegetarians and Vegans. I tried their burger for the first time yesterday and the garlic aioli was great! The guy behind the counter is always smiling and remembers us every time we come in, even if it's been awhile. I am a very good at home chef and everyone loooovvveees everything I cook. The reason everyone loooovvveeees my food is because it is very TASTY. The breakfast I ordered from here was flavor-LESS. I ordered french toast, eggs, potatoes and bacon. Starting off with the potatoes. .NO SEASON what so EVER. It tasted like they were boiled... yuck!!! I make excellent french toast- Ingredients are simple to get a TASTY french toast-milk, cinnamon, sugar, eggs, and nutmeg... that's it. The french toast here... tasteless! Review Updated Below... Original:I once considered making a map of the bay area centered on donuts. Where were the good ones where are the bad ones, etc. But these shops seem to change hands so often and well, it was a rhetorical idea anyhow... Now i have an even better excuse for not building the map. There is only one place you need to mark. Dimond Bakery. Not much to look at, even with the improvements made this last summer. Fine. Clean. Not special. What is special? The donuts. So perfect. There is some variation day to day. Some days they are just better than the rest. Other days, and they are frequent, other days bring us the little Toroids (look it up) of Heaven. I'm a traditionalist. Plain cake and raised glazed for me. The first lets you taste how fresh everything is. Fresh grease is vital. These folks change the grease they fry in regularly. The raised glazed, I think, speak to the care that is being shown in the kitchen. Is it a kitchen in a bakery? A friary? Whatever. I have a sweet tooth but I think a glazed donut needs to get just a thin skin of glaze on a feather light donut. Dimond Bakery's are just that. When you get a hankering for the occasional donut. DO NOT SCREW AROUND. Go to Dimond Bakery. If you eat them all the time then maybe you have adapted to mediocre donuts. You should advance at your own risk. Dimond Bakery will change the way your mouth works. UPDATE: the 2007/2008 overhaul is complete. New Name (Dimond Cafe) , New, far better coffee (I think Mr. Espresso) and less emphasis on donuts. Which makes me sad. The donuts are now off to the side and less reliable and more limited in variety. The lack of a plain cake donut (and the derivatives) in the lineup and the gooey raised-glazed cost them two stars. WiFi is nice, but i can get that at home... not so a perfect plain cake donut. Tip? The oldfashoneds and the blueberrys are still above average. Coffee is way above average. STILL MORE UPDATES: Donuts are back FULL FORCE. almost. You have to get there early cause they sell out (HINT: make more!). The raised glazed are back as are the cake. OH SWEET LAWD! the cake donuts are back! And so very very very fine. Really. Grab a couple and compare them to _any_ other donut shop in town. Like two different planets. read more

A newer addition to the burgeoning Dimond District, Dimond Cafe is a great place to stop after a delicious shopping spree at Farmer Joes, in view of the main intersection of the neighborhood. Dimond is steeped in history, in fact, the building behind the cafe was once the backdrop for a popular Vaudeville Theater, and the nearby creek used to run turbines for the microbreweries that were once scattered on these hills. With free Wi-Fi and a wonderful menu of cafe fare and tasty coffee drinks, Dimond Cafe is a welcome addition to the scene. The bread melts in your mouth and the meat was seasoned perfectly, wow and the aioli sauce was amazing. I can honestly say that this is my second home. I didn't realize that this place even existed. I use to go to Peets across the street to use there WI-FI but this place far exceeds my expectations. I LOVE there customer service and organic coffee... don't forget the sandwiches and salads..... I come here almost every day to relax and enjoy the music and atmosphere. Never really tried the breakfast here but the hot sandwiches and burgers are hella good !! I've only been there a few times and the staff seems to be very friendly ! I had been wanting to try this place for a while and decided to have breakfast with a few friends when we were near by. The staff was very nice and we got our good quickly as no one else was there. It was pretty much your basic breakfast foods, nothing special.. My waffle looked like it was frozen.. Basically something I could make quickly at home, but not as good. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing added or super good. Nice place to eat if that's all you are looking for, but a little too much for what you get. Coffee (I drink decaf) is NOT high end and the menu is limited. If you want more than a variation of bacon and eggs, an omelet or a veggie rap for breakfast food, you probably won't find what you want here. I had the deluxe quesadilla which had ham, sausage, tomatoes and green pepper. Everything was really fresh. My friend had a side of bacon and a side of eggs. A bacon order is two slices. I've only had breakfast, so I can't speak on the lunch menu, although I know they have burgers and the like. If you enjoy a nice, clean place with fresh ingredients, friendly service and neighborhood (inexpensive) prices, I think this place is a great value. read more

Wraps are pretty good but HUGE. I was full after eating half but finished it anyway (Turkey/Bacon). Pastrami sandwich was very good but a little too much horseradish.
